I was streaming just fine now i get audio glitches every 5 seconds. Was anyone else getting glitches before the update and now it fixed them?
Not streaming, but my audio seems worse in Sonic after the update. Music drops in and out and there's perceptible latency issue sometimes. Emulators all sound fine as does audio and video on the device. It may take a more resource intensive program like the 3d Sonic game for the issue to rear its head.
The latency for audio is bad for me. Most fps games are unplayable, because of this. When I'm using a gun to shoot, the action happens then sound follows.

does anyone else notice a very slight stutter when playing youtube videos using the included youtube player? the audio is perfect and so is the picture quality but literally every second on smooth panning/movement scenes i see it. htc watch trailers don't seem to suffer this but ive only watched a few so far.
same videos play fine on my hd2 running wm (audio slightly out of sync but thats a known hd2 thing)
i get the same results using wifi, or cellular network and still the same if i allow the video to fully download.
even worse ANYTHING that brings up any on screen display makes the video lag for a few seconds, the watch app lags with osd stuff too.
rebooting doesn't make any change
is this just the way it is or could something in the background be causing it, maybe some of the crud installed by my network (3 uk) ?
It's interesting that you mentioned it. I've has the same preborn with my first sensation. I exchanged it for dust problem last week, and surprisingly, the new one doesn't stutter with the same settings.... It Really beats me...

no dust problem for me luckily, did you have dust from the beginning or has it worked its way in somehow.?
ive tried everything i can think of except for a factory reset and i still have the youtube stutter, youtube player and streaming media player both drop frames and really badly stutter if there is any sort of on screen display or info showing over the video.
streaming watch trailers on mvideoplayer is perfect in every way though! so it seems the hardware can do it and is working fine.
The sound on my TF is fine when watching videos but every so often I hear a popping sound from the speakers when any audio feedback is used like audible selection or keyboard presses....any fix for this?
I have noticed this on mine over the past few days when playing a notification sound. And at other random times.

It's weird.....it seems to only happen when the speakers are "powering up"....if music is playing or the speakers are really active it doesn't happen at all.
Hi,
I just got my Xoom 3G 2 days ago, pretty nice stuff, but having some problem with audio quality over HDMI.
I played high quality MP3 on Xoom, connected to home cinema receiver via HDMI ,and realized that sounds really flat. Like a cheap stereo from the 80's.
Tried to boost the audio with an installed `Equalizer` app, boosted bass and fine tuned the equalizer settings, but doesn't help.
Same MP3 sounds great on a hardware Media Player connected to same home cinema.
Funny thing is,that sound quality is much better via headphone on Xoom. Really no complaint about that. So the DSP couldn't be too bad quality at all...
But over HDMI, is really mess.
Any idea how to improve audio quality via HDMI??
Cheers,
G.
Been lots of people complaining about it for a long time now. The HDMI audio sucks and they dont seem to be interested in fixing it unfortunately.
Yesterday I tried testing a HD Xvid video, again via HDMI port on Xoom and connected to home cinema. No problem with that, almost same audio quality like from a hardware Media Player.
So, only the MP3's quality is very poor. DSP should be OK, but it must be a software/programming error around encoding MP3's...
Same problem here. very flat sound on all music files and all video's. there is no difference in video quality, format etc. also while playing games the sound output is the same flat and to high treble.
I cant use the xoom for watching movies like this.
I read something about it be fixed in ICS android 4.0 can someone from the US having the 4.0 allready confirm that it is fixed?
Also wondering if the xoom 2 does or does not have this problem.
It is fixed in Android 4.0. I've tested it using my own 4.0.3 builds. I haven't tested it with EOS recently, but I believe it would be fixed there as well.
It depends on the nature of the problem. Is it a aosp issue, a xoom issue, or a Eos issue. Personally, I believe there is much we can do to clean up audio. Audio is always a complex issue.. Especially when exporting audio to outputs like HDMI or a2dp.
Just updates to.stock 4.04 and can tell you guys the audio is still not fixed. Don't know why but the eu version doesn't seem to have gotten the audio fix over hdmi.
Well, I allready descided this is my last Motorola product. So I don't care anymore. Due to the lack off support and the terrible bugs in the software. I never use my xoom anymore.
It's sad how poor Motorola supports their devices outside the US

I recently got my Nvidia Shield for Christmas and upon installing the ATT LTE data Sim I seem to have a crackleing sound when using data. It does not make the sound while not using data example just playing music or games but it will if I'm listening to music and say... Search the web or anything like that. The noise doesn't happen when using WiFi or listening over the tablet speakers.
I have another sound problem that occurs seldomly when playing music over the speakers (both with WiFi and LTE). The tablet makes a, what I call, transformer like noise; the noise to the best I can describe sounds like a medium tone zap not high pitched.
Does anyone else have these problems and how do I fix them/do I need to sent this one back?
We have discussed a similar thing here;

Is this the sort of thing you mean?
Thanks
I get the digital sound stretch/squelch "transformer" noise you're referring to sometimes. I'm not sure how you'd fix that: I think it's a quirk of this tablet.

I don't have the crackling happen to the speakers only the squelch.
I get it some times, I've had it happen when there are a lot of apps going, and if an app hits high cpu load it seems. It'll do it for a moment, and clear up for a while. Closing down the backgrounded apps seems to help me. YMMV
Edit: You running latest update? I noticed it start after the 5.0.1 update.

I've had this same issue on every version of the OS. I've had the tablet since a week after release in August and have run every update on the tablet and still get the noise, sometimes it is rather loud. It seems to do it more when stressing the tablet, I used to have Real Racing 3 on the tablet with the graphics modded to run at their highest, it would occasionally freeze up, and when it resumed, the speakers would squeak nearly every time.
I may not have just noticed it prior. But yours appears to be the same that mine is doing.

Has anyone else had a problem when playing a game or listening to music where the speaker audio, not headphones or aux cable, suddenly becomes severely distorted? I've noticed it in a few games, and there seems to be no reason for it. A reboot fixes it for a while, but it always comes back. Didn't know if I was the only one, or if it was a common problem, since I've only seen threads about headphone buzzing.

Why is it always so silent here anymore?

Mine starts clipping music after a while kinda like small skips i have a almost bare min system plenty of free ram sometimes its seems more distorted but i use a volume mod to make it louder. So my distortion is poss from that. Reboots usually fix it
I've been having a similar situation. The it started after my first (and only) brick. Now whenever I watch a video the sound glitches in and out and makes a loud popping cracking noise. Also happens at random while using some apps. Basically it makes noise all the freaking time and there's nothing I can do about it. There's no one that can tell me what to do to fix it because we're the only two people in the world that have this particular issue.. Also I have to put it on speaker phone while calling because the receiver decided that it no longer wants to do its job. But fortunately the sound works perfectly fine when I'm making a call... Should've done more research on this phone before buying it... Anyways if there's anyone who can tell me how to fix it I would be extremely grateful.!
