It has become more and more apparent that Net10 has implemented new counter tethering measures, I had the BYOP Unlimited sim with them before and I got pissed at them for something and decided to leave, I was able to tether back then, I got a new sim and I couldnt get tethering to work, I asked my brother and he said his stopped working, I looked online and Net10 changed the APN settings recently and it seems that most people cant tether now, Every time that I try to tether the phone to my Win7 Laptop, it says I get network access, but no Internet access, I run the troubleshooter on it and it keeps saying that the DNS server isn't responding.
Is there any way around this? Does anyone know what Net10 did to stop tethering or if this is what it really is, is anyone still able to tether their Net10 BYOP sims? and if so, with what APN settings.
I've tried different things (clockwork mod tether and a couple others supposedly able to bypass tether blocks)

I've been able to tether to my computer, however, for xbox, I'm constantly getting an mtu error, though it also shows that all of xbox services are up and running.
Using the following APN:

APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80

Wifi tether not working, is anybody else having problems
I take it you've rooted and disabled the entitlement check, right? If that's all you did, it should work just fine. I did it within 5 mins of buying my A2.
this is true others have reported it not working something to with the dhcp server but i have had no issues at all with mine it connects transfers data and doles out 192.168 adresses
I wanted to download the Wireless tether for Root Users app but in the marketplace, I see a message saying "This item is not available on your carrier". My carrier is AT&T. I looked at a couple more wifi tether apps and I see the same message instead of a Download button. Is there any other way I can setup tethering?

How do you disable the entitlement check? There's not much info on the web concerning the atria 2.
Thanx!

Disable entitlement didn't work for me, but im on gophone and not postpaid.
EDIT: I was wrong I did have to disable entitlement, apparently the first APN I used to enable data was incorrect to also have tethering. So for gophone entitlement still needs to be disabled but use the APN below.
I found this out after a factory reset and apparently I must not have saved the entry in the entitlement box the first time around. Talk about a noob-like mistake! BUT gophoners still need the APN below:
All I did is create a new apn with the following data:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: leave blank
Port: 80
Username: [email protected] *must be all caps
Password: CINGULAR1 *must be all caps
Server: wireless.cingular.com
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentecation Type: leave blank
APN Type: Leave Blank
APN Protocol: IPv4
Make sure you put the tick in this APN after you create so it uses it instead of the default, I don't know if this will affect 4G.
For the lapdock to allow mobile network connectivity, turn you mobile hotspot on before connecting your phone to the dock. You will get the dialog box saying you need wifi or an alternate plan, but firefox will now run without adding tethering.
Note we do not have 4g where I live and I do not have a postpaid account. When I got my Atrix 2 and put my sim in I had no data and had to make an APN to make data work at all. While trying to make my lapdock 100 work on the mobile network, I ended up using these settings to do it. The entitlement disable method did not work for me, since my prepay is not provisioned for the same as the post paid accounts.
If nothing else this will show some prepay folks how to enable tethering.
I have bought an unlocked phone... Sony Xperia Pro mk16a
I'm an AT&T subscriber. After setting up the phone... the data did not work. After googling I set up an APN with the folowing settings:
Name: Untitled
APN: wap.cingular
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN protocol: IPv4
The data now works on the phone, but when I enable tethering... I can connect to the phone... but the computer says no internet acess.
How do I get the phone to tether on AT&T?
I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.4 if that matters.
Thanks
*bump Really? Nobody knows?
hey i tried it and u just have to wait a little bit until windows detects the network and then the limited connection goes away and it works....
what i was wondering is, since this is the default tethering function for android gingerbread, will ATT be able to detect that u are tethering and force to u to upgrade your data plan? does anyone know
Apologies if this has been answered in another thread -- i have tried to read them all but most were over my head! Many of us new Skyrocketeers moved our "unlimited" plans over from the iPhone so we aren't up to speed on Android yet.
Could the experienced people here please help me try to summarize how to keep from being throttled? (See especially item #2 below on tethering!)
1. Non-tethered solution : change the APN and get a ROM that lets you turn off 4G. Is that right? What is that APN and the info to use it? Is there a way to toggle back to the original, or even a reason to?
Here is how to do this: Throttling ... Solved!
From that thread:
I'm using the Rocketeer ROM and I changed the APN and also forced the Network Mode to GSM/HSPA (Auto Mode)
http://img.tapatalk.com/a69377c9-ff26-ef45.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/a69377c9-ff35-aea3.jpg
The APN settings are:
Name: HSPA+ ATT
APN: Phone
APN Type: Internet
All other settings are default. I also am NOT on 2.3.6 and noticed when I updated the APN didn't work anymore, so I went back.
I also have the WAP Cingular built and have working MMS.
Name: ATT WAP
APN: wap.cingular
proxy: wireless.cingular.com
mms proxy: wireless.cingular.com
mms port: 80
mcc: 310
mnc: 410
apn type: mms

2. Here's the tougher question: How SHOULD I tether? Should the same solution to #1 work - just changing the APN and downshifting to 3G? I'm worried that if I do that they will still know I'm tethering. Is there a definitive way to keep from getting nailed? Is there a way to hide that I'm tethering?
BTW I am using the Viper ROM if that makes a difference.

You can change your APN to connect to HSPA+ until your billing cycle ends and then switch back. I went from 25 Mbps to 160k being throttled, changed my APN and got about 3mbps. Seems being the top 5% is not clear because it depends on where you live but I get throttled at about 2gb in Las Vegas. And I dont tether, well I did and got caught. I have since changed to the 4gb plan, ya...Im a sucker. My average is about 3gb so I caughed up another $15. I love LTE too much!!!

Thanks but that was the 270-post thread that I studied but didn't totally understand. Anyway, I edited my first post to refer to it.
Anyone know the answer to the second point, about tethering? How do I tether (1) without my carrier knowing, and (2) without getting throttled for using too much data?
Is there a particular tethering program I could use? Or just using the Titanium method or some other ROM -- won't that still let my carrier know I'm tethering?
I have an AT&T branded Galaxy SII i727 Skyrocket (4G LTE). It is not unlocked, has not been rooted and runs AT&T firmware. The phone was purchased independent of a contract (eBay). I am a very light user, but I find it convenient to have a data plan and initially used AT&T GoPhone prepaid. Phone and SMS worked properly on AT&T right away, but some tweaking was required to get data to work. After a few months, I switched to Consumer Cellular (AT&T MVNO). Again, data did not work at first, but CC's tech support gave me revised Access Point Name settings and all became as it should have been.
Recently (I don't remember exactly when, but it was in early or mid December), I finally gave in to the phone's insistence on updating to a later firmware version. From then on, I have been unable to get data to work at all. the 4G symbol no longer appears (although I doubt it was ever actually a 4G connection) and any App that requires a data connection (web, email, etc) complains about no connection. WiFi, on the other hand, works properly with all such Apps.
Here are the specifics of my phone:
Samsung SGH-I727
Android 4.04
Baseband Version I727UCLI3
Kernel Version:
3.0.8-1127534
[email protected]#1
SMPPREEMPT Thu Sep 27 23:12:45 KST 2012
2012Build number IMM76D.UCLI3
My questions are these:
Has anyone had this sort of problem (data on Consumer Cellular fails after upgrade)? If so, how did you solve it?
Was this problem caused by the upgrade? If not, what other issues might have caused it and how can they be corrected?
How can I revert the firmware to the previous version to confirm the cause and/or resolve it?
What else can I do to get my data connection back?
I am not particularly Android savvy, but I am not shy about making changes in settings and/or installing fixes.
Thanks,
Tenaya

Consumer Cellular APN settings for Skyrocket i727
I recently moved my service from AT&T to Consumer Cellular using my existing Samsung Skyrockets. The new phone signal is identical to that of the old as far as I can tell. (same towers) My issue came when trying to setup my text and data side of my Samsung Skyrocket. The settings provided by CC on their website are incomplete. Be prepared to speak with a 2nd level tech to accomplish all of the connections required on "their" end. Here are the APN settings that are working on my two i727's as of Jan 2014. Both are running 4.1.2
Name: Consumer Cellular
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: "66 . 209 . 11 . 32" (without spaces)
Port: 80
User name: Not set
Pasword: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http :// mmsc . cingular . com (without spaces)
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: default,supl,mms,agps,fota
APN protocal: IPv4
Enable/disable APN: APN enabled (check)
Bearer: Unspecified
very helpful for my Skyrocket
Thanks for posting this. I had data working on my AT&T skyrocket, now used with Consumer Cellular, and then it stopped for no apparent reason. I had all the same settings as above, but on my phone the Authentication Type was unspecified or none. I changed it to PAP and now data is back. I don't know if I had never set this before, or if something changed it, but I'm glad it seems to be working again.
always when you format your phone, check the APN settings.
If it isn't configured you won't be able to surf.
happy to hear you fixed the issue.
good while it lasted -30 min

While changing that setting did bring the data connection back to life, it seems to have disappeared again. I'm not sure why. When I turn airplane mode on and then off, data doesn't reconnect. When I reboot the phone it seems to connect after maybe 15 minutes of trying. Could it be a bad sim card? Or maybe should I do a complete reset of the phone? I don't see anyone else reporting these sorts of symptoms, so maybe it is specific to my phone.
Another option for Consumer Cellular APN settings
I just got off the phone (third time in a week) with a tech support person at CC. They said they think they knew the problem. Because the AT&T SGH-I727 skyrocket is 4G LTE capable, a new APN should be set up:
Name: ccilte
APN: ccdata
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: default,mms,supl
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
I asked a couple of times if they really should be backslashes for Server and MMSC, rather than forward slashes. They insisted they should be backslashes, which is what I put in, and it worked, and then I changed them to forward slashes (which seems more appropriate) and that works too. That was weird, since I'd expect one to fail. So now I seem to get a data connection (it has been almost a day and it hasn't dropped data service). I even went in and out of airplane mode, turned wifi on and off, and data came right back, which never happened before. Hopefully this may help someone else who made the bumpy transition to Consumer Cellular.
You can use your existing SIM, but I ran *228 on mine a while ago and wanted back to 4gLTE
I obtained a new SIM from Straight Talk for free
You can get the SIM on Wal-Mart.com for $5 (BYOD Kit)
I had them re-provision my phone
I ported my number
I had problems with everything after a while
I reflashed to Lollipop - Fresh Everything
It went back to the Straight Talk network after flashing (fresh not-dirty)
I can now text as well (not sure this ever stopped)
I called Straight Talk and got an APN from them since none of the APN I had was working
Within a minute of placing in the APN it was working
APN Info
acct.tf.gw6.vzwentp
mcc = 311
mnc = 480
apn type = default,dun,supl
apn protocol = 4 & 6 (local and roaming)
LTE now rocking like a champ
Just wanted to share my experience.

New setting is

Yes. Both cards that I've tried are cdma. When I switch my radio to GSM I get no signal. LTE only, no signal. And CDMA I get 3G. ST says that I have all my provisions and that the signal should switch on its own, but 3 weeks later, still no 4G

Just wanted to say this worked for my dad's LG Treasure (ugh.) Spent about an hour scouring the net and this is the thing that fixed it.
Thanks!
Edit- Also the ST Data app errored out when I pressed "Go." Useless.
I dont understand how the dumb ZTE phone i bought for $40 from walmart with a straight talk plan works AMAZING, gets 25mbps speeds, gets awesome signal. But the S4 i just bought the BYOD sim card for just refuses to get a good signal, gets slow speeds 1mbps to 5mbps, constanly loses its data. I dont know what to do. Im about to just go back to the phone that can only handle one app open at a time since its actaully worked. It would be nice to use navigation and listen to pandora though lol
data offline and no mms
My rooted Verizon GS5 with TF sim card is randomly losing data service (group mms is now working with textra). ST customer service provided an APN but the issue with data offline is recurring. I used BuildProp and APNchangeR apps to update APN settings (leave all other fields blank) steps:
1. Installed BuildProp, Edit code at bottom to add:
#Code:
ril.sales_code=LOL
ro.csc.sales_code=LOL
2. Save changes and Restart Phone
3. Open APNchangeR (Note: APN will disappear after saving but is there)
Name: TRACFONE.VZWENTP
APN: tfdata
4. Open BuildProp, edit to remove code, save, and restart.
From this post, it appears the settings provided by ST might be wrong and should be:

APN: Info
MMSC: acct.tf.gw6.vzwentp
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN Type: default,dun,supl
APN Protocol: 4 & 6 (local and roaming)
