Hello everyone, this is my first question and I've been pulling my hair out trying to get my TF700 updated to JB. I've looked though all of the forums but I haven't found a very good answer for my problems. I'm unlocked but on stock recovery and .30 firmware. The issue I'm having is I can't update to JB either through OTA or with the dlpkgfile way. I've tried resetting my .30 firmware to make sure the build.prop is correct by using the SD card and power + vol down and I keep getting a signature verification failed error. Every time I try to do any updating I get an android with the red triangle exclamation point. Any help would be really appreciated, I can't get anything to work.
I hope you are aware of the fact that once unlocked, your device will not receive any OTA updates from ASUS any more. By using the unlock tool from ASUS, you have forfeited both your warranty and any future OTA updates. As such, the easiest way for you to upgrade to JB is to download and manually flash the latest firmware for your tf700 from ASUS website. Below is the all-in-one guide for the tf700, you can refer to the Clean Factory Restore section for more information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833212
Btw, since your tablet is unlocked, you should just check out the Development section of this forum to flash a custom ROM to your liking. After all, the only reason to unlock is to use custom ROMs.

You need to check your system information to verify your build, WW or US and you may want to download the right firmware again from the Asus websie. Sometime the file is corrupted or have a wrong firmware. When you get the new firmware from Asus, you need to unzip it once because there is a zip file inside another zip file. Now you can copy the Second zip file to your internal root directory on your device and reboot it. After a reboot, you will see the new firmware message notification on the lower right corner. Now you can select the message from the notification and follow the instructions from there. Good luck..

Well I switched to S-OFF to get a new splash screen and now I can no longer install OTA updates for my Hero. I get a signature failure every time I try to install. Does anyone know how to switch this back on? I didn't realize this would kill the ability to do updates as the forums I have read before switching didn't have any mention of it.
Sorry if this has been previously posted and I missed it in the forums.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The signature failure isn't from s-off it's from the custom recovery. What you need to do is to resign the zip.

Just an added note, as far as I know, you can't switch back to S-ON on this
device, at least, not at the moment.. If they get S-ON to work on these phones,
good, but if not, I'm not overly concerned.

Not sure I'm understanding the question. But, if he means receiving updates directly from Sprint then they don't come as zip files. So, how would signing anything help him?
Not sure why you would want to download something from Sprint directly anyway. Whenever an update comes out, they're usually packaged and ready for you to flash via custom recovery by the end of the day if not sooner.

The ota (over the air) updates that sprint pushes out and you download are stored in an update zip in /cache then when you choose to install them they are flashed through the stock recovery... but if you don't have the stock recovery you will have to pull the update from your device resign it and then flash it through custom recovery. Also they won't work on anything but a stock or close to stock rom because of the checks it does in the update scripts and most of everything inside is .p files (patch).
I should know because I took the second to last sprint update rooted it and posted it on here. You can actually test this theory by running the ruu rooting it and then when you get an update download it but don't install it right away. You'll find it in /cache (I believe forgotten exactly) or just take my word for it.
If you do do it like that I suggest the original 2.1 ruu just because you'll get your original radio back in the process

Good information to know. Thanks Asadullah.
Hi, not sure where to go with this, have tried having a look around but not found anything. I un-rooted using this guide here :
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
Everything seemed to go okay, but when updating it says there are no updates. At the moment I am stuck on v 3.0.1 it seems.
Anyone got any ideas please?
Edit - forgot to mention I am a UK user, so I used the WW file on the site.
Do you still have a custom recovery? That will prevent OTAs from coming, make sure EVERYTHING is stock, no su or recovery or anything weird. If not try manually placing the ASUS update.zip
or NvFlashing/rooting putting recovery on and reinstalling latest total stock ICS.
Thanks for your reply - forgive me, I literally rooted when I had the device and haven't got a clue how to check if or what custom recovery is. Is Super User just an icon in the apps folder and if that's gone then I no longer have it installed?
Well, I don't have anything on the SD card anymore - I wiped all the data that was on that I managed to get into that menu thing (holding down power button + vol down, then vol up) but it's just the android robot with a warning triangle. I assume this is because there is nothing on the SD card?
That means you have stock recovery and no CWM.
So I need to look into this NvFlash thing then? It's a B50 device.
Yes that'd probably be your best bet if you have a B50

Okay, I've done a lot of reading up here : ahttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494230&highlight=nvflash+for+b50
and it seems NVFlash is a tool for unbricking my device? I'm not sure that's what I need, will this allow me updates or something? Sorry finding it a bit confusing...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683311
What it does is restore your TF to complete stock, here's the link for latest ICS firmware with total stock using NvFlash, you'll be able to take OTA updates too. All files needed are included, say thanks to Korumera!
Edit - will post back

Okay that was easy enough but still won't let me update anything (unless I'm on the lastest updates?) I seem to have a lot of Chinese apps on here now and am unable to add a google account on the tablet, will only let me add an Asus Sync account (which I've never used). Notifications seem to be in Chinese also but I have set languages etc to English (UK).
that's... really weird. You might just want to try flashing a US blob. idk why it wont let you update either.
I was being a total noob, I used the wrong firmware. I'm now on ICS, still not doing updates for some reason though but - thanks for all your help.
That's because that's the current latest firmware It should pop up when there's an update.
First of all I feel bad for making a thread because I feel like the answer is out there and I just cant find it.
The unit is a TF101G and WW version B9O.
Basically I used this to return to stock http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
This worked fine but now i can't seem to update to stock ICS the tablet does not find any updates automatically (or going into settings and forcing a search)
and when manually downloading ICS from Asus both 9.2.2.4 and 9.2.2.6, neither work.
I was originally using CWM but with no luck there i tried using stock recovery current firmware version is 8.2.3.13
I cant seem to figure this out.
Do a factory reset then update thatll do it
Hit the thanks button if i helped
You need to be completely stock for the update to go, as in no CWM and sometimes it matters which SKU you are on. You can always NVFlash stock ICS if nothing else works
Nvflash does not work for tf101G
So ive got 3 files on my microsd card now after wipingdata as ROM CHIEF suggested the orifinal file name unchanged(yes its unzipped once) the same file called EP_UPDATE.zip and the same file again called UPDATE.zip still when i boot into stock recovery it shows a progress bar for a few seconds then goes to the android and '!' sign and no combination of vol up/down power on seem to activate any controls (like it does on my phone)
Edit: I'm now trying to root VIA PERI and it does not work i get "cannot open for write access is denied" i also tried using wolfs method manually (Im pretty sure PERI just automates wolf) to flash the ICS blob directly and get the same access denied. I guess the exploit isn't working ?
What fw are you on? You need to be on a ICS firmware, yes PERI automates wolf's exploit.

yeah I was on 8.2 something which i think was the problem. managed to get it to update by renaming the zip to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip. It didnt really help that i had 5 different people telling me to rename it to different things. I'm happy I got it to work in the end.
PERI saved me in the first place when i originally couldn't flash anything (CWM was from rom manager) so thanks for the nifty program.
Hi All….received the 4.4.2 download this morning on my RMHD and ran through the install. At reboot the phone got stuck on the Red Moto logo… I let it sit for nearly 45 minutes, assuming it was doing its thing in the background. But at that point I figured it was safe to assume something got hosed. I rebooted back into recovery and did a factory reset. That wound up making things worse…now am in a boot loop between the logo and the Android triage guy (recovery)….
Phone was rooted and locked. And I am complete understanding that I was losing root with this OTA. Been reading all posts in here….please ‘flog’ me if I missed something.
With that said…I have two questions on recovering the device.
1) Can I simply download and copy one of the JB images from the Motorola Firmware site to my SD card and install via recovery (since my recovery appears to be OK)?
2) Or should I/need I follow procedures using RSDLite? And recover this way?
Any comments are appreciated!
Thanks
Doug
Never mind. iBolski's thread "Official KK OTA for 9.30.1 (XT926) users - please read" in the general forum looks like it might do the trick for me...and I won't be able to go to a previous (JB) Android version. This looks easy enough.
I have the same issue except I'm in need of a .zip or set of files for the modem firmware that I need to flash in 4.4.2 183.x.x Stock because I tried to downgrade to 9.30.1 jb and the firmware and the modem downgraded. Could someone create a package I can flash in stock recovery to restore my Droid Razr Maxx HD to to 4.4.2 183.x.x
Today when I decided to update to the latest android (5.1.1) with rooted nexus 5. I rebooted
my phone and it started installing when suddenly a picture of the android robot with a red triangle sign on top appears and under it it says error so I restarted my phone by holding down the power button for several seconds and when I get in to my phone it says that I'm updated to 5.1. But what I understand that's correct so now I'm wondering how to deal with future updates because I can't afford to brick my phone and I thought I could just download OTA updates normally after root so my question is, can I normally install OTA updates, if not How?
[Edit]Later today I got the update to 5.1.1 message again and its really annoying and I want the update now so how do I get it?
Thanks for reading.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. No, you can't use the OTA if your rooted with 5.x and above. To update you'll most likely need to flash the stock frimware. but you never let us know what your device is so i can't point you in the right direction.

Thank you for answering, I have a nexus 5 but I guess I´ll have to flash the stock firmware if there is no other way that isn´t too complicated.
All right. You'll want to see these, http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/info-nexus-5-ota-help-desk-t2523217 , http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/info-nexus-5-ota-help-desk-t2523217 It's possible to update by only flashing the system, boot, and radio images files with fastboot. You'll lose root but you can easily regain it by flashing supersu in your custom recovery.
Also don't forget there's a complete forum for the Nexus 5 here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5

I just spent 2 hours trying to flash the system but all i ended up with was a factory reset after following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701 so all i want to do now is just getting rid of root so I can update but the guides that i understand doesn´t work because when I tried to flash the hammerhead bootloader it said the my device requires another version. The i took the version that my nexus is in right now 5.1.0 and it appeared to be working so when it was finished I followed the guide and i wiped my system for about 5 minutes and then i chose reboot system from the recovery mode menu. And now im back at where i started.
(Edit) Now I´m installing SDK and following another guide online http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/b...-lollipop-factory-image-on-your-nexus-device/
It turns out all i had to do was to unlock my phone and then I installed 5.1.1 just fine
Yep, that's the first step. Glad you got it working. I'll close this thread.
