Google play store says HD movies are not supported on this device.
why?
Dunno? Slow internet? I am watching Transformers Dark of the Moon (free with my nexus 7) in HD or so my shield claims I am. I am starting to hate google, youtube is broken the movies keep crashing and if I try and skip back to where I was at the last crash it insta-crashes.

Just a note, since I see there is a lot of interest in streaming video content on the G Tablet, with a bunch of people excited that we had the TV.com app working now that we have full market access.
Though we still have no Netflix, and you can hack your way into making Hulu sort-of work, Amazon Video On Demand works as is - it's all Flash video, and plays just fine on my G Tablet.
I just watched the first quarter of Hellboy and then watched a full episode of Lie to Me Season 2, which I already had in my Amazon Video Library from purchasing for my Roku.
Make sure you are on the full desktop Amazon site, not the mobile site (may need to change your User Agent depending on your browser configuration). Just click on Full Screen once the video player loads, and you'll get the movie you want in full screen glory.
Also, as with everything video-related, after sleeping and waking up, the G Tablet is a bit stuttery unless you use OverclockWidget to force the min clock speed higher. If that happens to you and you don't feel like using OCWidget, a quick reboot should solve the problem.

Are you saying that Amazon Video On Demand can be streamed on the G Tab?

I can't imagine any other way to interpret the original post.
You guys who get Eee Pad/Xoom may notice that Youtube will lag when playing full screen HD video, so I did some test for HTML5 version on web browser, I tried the pirates of the caribbean 4 official trailer, and it play very smoothly!!!
I just wonder why Google don't use HTML5 like iOS for Youtube?
they do in a way, there's a separate Youtube app. Don't have the eee pad yet, however my Galaxy S has been set up to launch the Youtube app when selecting a youtube link.
I'm not getting any lag in HQ videos on youtube in normal or full screen. Sounds like you need to check your wifi settings or upgrade your home connection.
Hey guys, I wanted to see who all here has picked up a chrome cast and what your thoughts are on it so far?
I really dig it, quick connection and ability to play things with no noticeable degradation or lag. And with HBO Go and Hulu Plus both coming soon it is going to be really nice.
One issue though that I have found is that the previous version of Google Play Movies allowed you to play locally stored videos on your device through the app. With the update to work with Chromecast this option is removed even when trying to do it on your device only so you have to use an external app such as the gallery or MX player etc.
Any word or people working on creating a cracked version of google movies or a work around to allow other apps to chromecast?
Read somewhere that clockworkmod and someone else have done it or are really close. Check Chromecast development
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Koushik Dutta's Aircast
Koushik Dutta is still working on it. Still in beta and will self destruct after 2 days but it is a amazing start

This may be irrelevant now, and if so I apologize for the waste of time, but I have found that if you open the video files in a Chrome tab, they can be cast that way. At times it can be a little inconvenient, but I think the video/audio is pretty good.
Has anybody successfully connected their Transformer to their TV and watched a movie from Google Play Movies?
I have tried it a few times and all I get is a giant red cross.
I'm rooted which I think may be a problem but before I go back to stock, I'd like to know if it works...
Hey everyone!,
I just got my One Plus One today and I was setting up Google Play Movies (Stock ROM, No Root) and whenever I try to play a movie (regardless of being HD or not) it doesn't play. It just shows the spinning circle. When I try to download a movie that is HD, it shows the download to only be around 353MB and gets stuck at 0%?
Can anyone help me out?
Thank you!

If you are talking about playback, yep the build in video player is glitchy. Try VLC beta on the play store.
