I've been trying to get back to stock so I can send my phone in for warranty, I'm one of the unfortunate ones who is constantly stuck on edge. Current hboot is 2.15 and cid is ROGERS001, unfortunately there's no ruu out there for my hboot, so I had to use the method mentioned in this thread to get back onto a stock rom.
My problem now is even after unrooting using SuperSU, flashing the stock recovery and relocking my bootloader, it still says "tampered". One thing I've notice is that SuperSU is still present under my apps, when I try to open it it says the binary needs to be updated, and my options are to install the SU binary via cwm/twrp, or "normal". The cwm/twrp method just attempts to reboot into recovery and the "normal" method proceeds to an installation screen where it fails immediately.
Am I forced to s-off and SuperCID, then run a different ruu in order to get back to completely stock?

Hi Everyone.
The story is as follows:
I've had my Desire S for a few months now, It was rooted, s-off etc.
I had to send it in for repair because of a faulty digitizer, so before sending it I reinstalled the stock rom (android 2.3.3) and updated the bootloader to the new one (so now it's locked, s-on, and ver. 2.00.0002)
The problem I'm having at the moment is happening while trying to apply the official HTC system update. it downloads, asks if I would like to install, then restarts and I get to the bootloader where it says "Securiy Warning" (right under *** LOCKED ***) and it just sits there.
I tried copying the rom into the root directory of the sd card and naming it PG88IMG.zip, it starts loading it in hboot with a progress bar, then says "checking" again, finishes that process as well and just goes back to the bootloader home screen.
So basically I can't find any other way to update my stock rom, and rooting with the new hboot is way too long of a procedure at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas for a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Max
First of all if bootloader is locked you need to unlock it from
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Second if your stuck on bootloader and phone is not booting try this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488672
Third you can try to return to stock rom and flash android recovery from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589150
Then try to install update
Finally if that didn't work and you have Root Access and S-OFF try to use ROMs
like Saga3D wich is based on official RUU
I ran an RUU on my TMOUS Sensation, but I wanted to go back to the way it was so I flashed the firmware package provided by mike and now when I try to enter recovery from bootloader it just gives me a phone icon with a red exclamation point. Do I need to root it again?Or something. I was trying to fix my wifi not wanting to turn on I think I may exchange it. I'm done with this phone.
If you ran an RUU, then whatever recovery you had before is gone. If you flashed a firmware package from Mike, then I'm assuming your bootloader is unlocked? If so, then you just need to flash your recovery of choice again.
Ok, i need help here. i'm not sure what is the problem here.
Current Bootloader System
S-Off
hBoot 2.14
Radio 3.18
Super CID - 1111111
Everytime i try to install a ROM, not all of them. i got Install Failed: Status 1. Which i didn't know why.
Previously in previous root i didnt have a problem
Couple days back i decided to tried OTA to 4.1.1 from ATT and this start happening. I relock my bootloader before the OTA and re-unlock before the update following this method. i managed to back to AOSP and some AOKP. but i always had a problem on Viper, very laggy and dialer are almost useless. I cant even flash CleanROM 6.
But, i was thinking. On my bootloader i have Unlocked flag but didnt have Tampered flag, which is i think the issue here. May i get a confirmation on that? and if that the case, may i have the guideline to re-root it this software.
THanks
Try a lower version of twrp if you are using 2.4.3.0
What tez1 said. Though the I believe "failure" is actually just a failure to wipe cache at the end of the flash procedure (at least, that's what it's been for me when I get the error). If you manually wipe cache after install, and then reboot, the flash should have succeeded.

That's not an issue at all. It's what happens when you install new stock system software (like the OTA or a ruu) after you're s-off. S-off stops all security checks, so you don't get that rooted flag anymore.
Problem TWRP... install 2.4.2!
thank you for all the answers i will try it.
EDIT: thanks, you can close this thread. it was the TWRP 2.4.X.X i decided to go back to 2.3.3.1.
I updated hboot to 2.16, and now i regret that. So i wanted to get back to 2.15.
This is what i've done so far.
Following all the guides and whatever i could find on the forums.
1. downgrade hboot to 2.15
2. oem relock
3. installed org RUU, downloaded on of the exe's (RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2_Radio_0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258480_signed.exe) and let it do it's thing.
4. Here i wanted to get root back and all that so i could start over with flashing. So i unlocked the phone again.
5. installed twrp and rooted after this the org RUU still boots and everything works.
6. This is where things go wrong, when i flash CM11 and gapps i get installations fails, don't know why. (error executing updater binary in zip)
I don't know why it's not working, but in the bootloader it says unlocked, but "tampered" is gone, and that might be the problem, but i cannot remember what that is. s-off and cid is still there.
Any help would be welcome.
I just bought the at&t htc one x online. It come with the 5.18 firmware.
I did a little research but could only root the phone with WeakSauce.
I have tried the firewater but not any luck yet.
Is there any way that I could install Recovery or unlock bootloader for now?( I try HTC-DEv but they give me the Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.). I also try change CID but still got the CWS_001
Are we stuck here in 5.18?
By the way, when I boot into bootloader, the phone shows "Tampered" and "Locked"
Is it normal?
Thank you very much.
No, there is no way at all you can install a custom recovery. In order to do that you need an unlocked bootloader, which you can't do because there is no exploit to get SuperCID on the 5.18 firmware. The closest you're gonna get is temp root via Weaksauce, which will only allow you to install root apps, you are unable to install any custom ROMs. Unless a highly skilled dev releases a crack (don't hold your breath, this is an old phone now) you're stuck in this situation.

I don't believe so, your system partition is read-only.
