ROM flashing - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so I tried to flash cm 10.0 onto my tf300 using twrp and it didn't work... cwm couldnt mount SD car... how do I flash cm 10?
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

what bootloader and recovery are you using?

I'm on 4.2.1 from July 30 I think... and I have twrp 2.6 something I think
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

i dont think CM 10.0 will work on your 4.2.1 PIT/bootloader
10.1 should work.
bootloader is unlocked i presume.
also try twrp 2.5 - also bear in mind that there are different versions for the different bootloaders/stockromversions
cheers

Just an update I did get cm10.1 to flash over and now I know what I'm doing! Thanks all!

Gapps won't install

Title speaks for itself. I reflashed AOKP because the kernel I was on was giving me SOD and I forgot to reinstall Gapps as well. So I went into recovery to install it and I get something about not being able to install with (bad). I downloaded gapps again and got the same result. Do I need to reinstall the recovery?

Which gapps version? The latest I believe says ICS 3-17.

Yeah I've been trying to install the 3 17 version. The weird thing is that I've installed it before but know it's not installing.

Did you toggle script verification in your recovery that could cause it?
Currently on aokp hoping build 32 will convince me to stay
Just tried it and it didn't work :/

I flashed the June 28 kernel & it bricked my N7. I'm unable to get back into recovery mode to flash a backup. Any advise?

Plug your Nexus 7 into a computer and then press the power and both volume buttons at the same time. Then you can boot into recovery.

I tried that. I can get into fastboot no problem. I'm running pre released windows 8. Could that be the problem as to why I can't get into recovery?

It's not a problem of the op kernel or win8 but know issue that some Nexus 7 unmount recovery. There's a specific thread for solve this....but in my case don't work
Inviato dal mio Galaxy Nexus con Tapatalk 2
I also had an issue with the 28 June kernal. Wouldn't go past boot screen or load into recovery. Could still access fastboot though.
/remember that nandroids are your friends
I was able to boot into recovery using the N7 toolkit. The problem then was I had to use the toolkit to force it to boot into android. I tried flashing Trinity's and Franco's kernel but it would not flash via TWRP or CWM.
Ended up having to flash the stock image to get my tablet working right. As per another post having a similar issue I would stay away from the June 28 kernel.
The older kernel also put my Nexus in a bootloop
Ah well better reflash
So does any of these kernels work or only put the n7 in boot loop? BTW what's the difference between the two?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
ones newer than the other, by the looks of it both bootloop the device :/
really regretting not backing up before doing it
edit: I reflashed the boot.img (extracted it from my ROM) and all is good now. Gonna do a titanium backup just to make sure incase it's unstable
Wow I really wish I had read this thread before flashing. Just bricked my device

Which recovery

Is there a thread or something that list the difference in recoveries we have available? I'm rooted and unlocked if that helps with anything.
Oh and I did do a search but it was on my phone and the results weren't what I needed.

Cwm 6.0.1.x works with everything.
I use CWM 5.x.x.x being that it is the stable release and you can install it with ez recovery. TWP I haven't messed with because it doesn't work with everything, As the post above mentioned CWM 6. Its a leaked version so it could have issues but from what I've heard works well.
How is cwm6 leaked when it can be built from source?

TWRP works fine too btw...

Flash either via odin

Ok great just wanted to make sure before I put one on the phone .

I still have CWM v6.0.1.0 and was wondering about the CWM v6.0.1.2, Should I go ahead and install the newer version?
(I'm a diehard Motorola user that reluctantly switched to the SCH-I535 and am very glad I did switch so this is my first non-Motorola)

Flashing cm 10.1 on my tf 300. Coming from cm 9

Excuse my noob-ness.
I'm under the impression that, in order to upgrade to a cm10.1 Nightly rom, I need to change my recovery? But in doing that, there's a somewhat lengthy process... can someone show me how flash a jb rom without a potential bricking?
Sent from my Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app
Pretty sure that you are gonna want to upgrade to a JB bootloader first. Flashing a JB ROM on a ICS bootloader will probably result in a bricked tablet. Just changing the recovery won't work either.
Be be careful with the bootloader you flash too. There aren't many ROMS that run on the newest 4.2 yet. Pretty sure you're gonna need to flash 4.1. I don't run CM10 so you will want to verify the information but I'm pretty sure I'm correct.
A good place to get good info on what is needed to run CM10 is in the CM10 nightlies thread.

Help flashing 4.4

I'm able to install several 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 based ROMs, but I've tried 3 different 4.4 based ROMs and they all failed. Anything I should know about TWRP flashing 4.4 ROM to D2VZW SGS3? I used Casual to root and unlock. I've jumped around to different kernels but back at stock. I tried a few 4.4 and 4.3 kernels when trying to install kitkat roms but that didn't matter either, still got a FAIL in TWRP. I wiped dalvik, cache and data, and even system, abd a few times more than once. Any ideas?
You running the latest TWRP? Maybe try CWM. Why do you use TWRP?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
you MUST use the latest CWM 6.0.4.3 in order to flash 4.4. team wins will not work. i recommend the touch CWM it is pretty sweet.

That's not correct... The latest twrp works fine on 4.4 roms... the only one it doesn't work with is the new liquid and I've flashed every 4.4 rom out there...twrp 2.6.3.1 or cwm 6.0.4.3 are what you need

YevOmega I started with CWM back in the days, but switched to TWRP, something about touch screen menu and OTG that got me. I'm a sucker for technical evolution. I am glad to see CWM Touch is out finally and I'll give it a try if TWRP lets me down or doesn't keep providing updates.

CWM touch used to give issues. Idk if it still does. Stick to regular CWM. I understand that you want touch, as do I, but...

Glad I could help. I'm going to switch to 4.4 tomorrow. Any reason you chose CyanFox and over Gummy or HellFire? I'm not sure which to pick. They seem to have similar cherry picks.
