PLEASE NOTE: This app will only function correctly on ROMs with Halo functionality, such as Paranoid Android. If you aren't on one of those ROMs, all this app will do is automatically launch the app you just got a notification for.
HaloPop allows you to automatically turn any app that you want into a popup when you receive a notification! It does this by listening for new notifications, and when one comes through for an app that you have enabled to run automatically as a popup, it shows that app as a popup over all other running apps, just like when you like on the Halo icon to launch it.
Works great for apps that don't have popups, such as Google Hangouts, or any other type of app where you don't want to use the included popup and would rather use the full app scaled down in the middle of the screen. Any app that give you a notification is supported!
Set up:
1) Install and launch the app
2) Enable the notification listener service when prompted... you have to do this or else the app WILL NOT FUNCTION
3) Push the + button on the top right of the screen and select all the apps you want to popup automatically
4) Enjoy
Some great apps to use this with:
- Sliding Messaging Pro
- Google Hangouts
- GoSMS
- Handcent
- GMail
- And basically anything else!
HUGE thanks to all of the guys working on Paranoid Android, without them none of this is possible!

Does this work with Nexus S? Or is it just Google play saying it doesn't?

Ah...Makes sense haha. Darn. Could it be done for 4.2.2+? Or is the framework different? Anyways, I hope to be able to try it out soon =] Looks very handy.

The app uses the new notification listener apis, making it 4.3 only. I'm hoping lots of people get the update soon PA 4.3 is awesome!

This app brings Facebook chathead popup to all other app on Paranoid Android rom. Great! Hope one day it can keep cache on background memory so user can continue what he is doing with that app on floating window (currently, when the floating window disappear, the app is killed).

ABOUT: Ice Cream Sandwich Multitasking

I've seen many people say that the ICS multitasking feature where you can swipe to close the app, just removes it from the multitasking list but does not kill it / close it.
I have tested it using logcat and it DOES in fact kill it, here's a picture of logcat after swiping off the browser app

And also I tried going to cached/running services, and then opening the multitasking bar and closing an app that appears there, and it does disappear from there.
Nice discovery man!
Oh wow, thanks for the info!
Awesome never knew this,
Thanks
Nice! Thanks!
Great discovery! Thank you very much.

Yes I know this too in first 5 mins I understand.
Open an app, press home button and minimize, Long press and swipe. Go to launcher and launch shortcut. Tadaaaaaaaa.

Hmmm didnt know about this.
Good to know this for certain! This will be much easier than going into the app tray or settings menu to force close an app.
People are going to get so OCD about closing things now that they'll spend half their time in that menu!
Nice find, was a bit sceptical when I closed all apps in the task list and then used a task killer to kill the same tasks again before the memory was free'd up
Can in the future implement the automatic search in Contacts while you writing a number?
nice never knew this swipe feature existed just started using an ics rom today.
Services ?
I couldn't kill a process with a service in the emulator that way.
Does it kill processes running services in the same way ?
What about foreground services ? Does the device stop playing music, If I swipe the music app ?

i talking about that OLD feature in Froyo...:|
Is there a way to stop certain apps from staying open in the multitask list?
Currently everytime i hit the multitask button its just a long long list so its kinda counter productive.
Thanks

Cool
nice discovery there man.

Looking for apps that use notification bar ads and your horrible experiences w/ them

I'm a developer who distributes free and paid apps on the Play Store, and have recently been seeing accusations that my apps use notification bar advertising.
MY APPS DO NOT USE THIS TRASH AND NEVER WILL.
I actually have avoided advertising altogether, (I'm using the free-lite-version/paid-full-version model).
I want to put some apps on a test phone that actually do use notification bar ads to determine if this is simply random chance or if perhaps these apps are doing more nefarious things like waiting for other APKs to be installed before pushing ads, or waiting until other app-processes are in the foreground before pushing ads. This may be difficult as I believe the push rate is fairly infrequent.
My wild guess is that these apps aren't that evasive, though their design is still to disassociate the advertising from the app that is its source. I imagine they simply delay a week or more before firing the first ad, and probably only do so if the device is asleep.

Edit: if you do know of any apps that do this, please post links here (on the Play Store or off). I have no idea what apps actually do this, and so far haven't run into any myself.
Thanks for your dedication. I will follow this thread and try to spread the word.
On my Samsung I long press the notification and i can see the app info of the app that actually sent the notification, maybe you can use this to know which apps are messing with yours

Thanks, but I actually don't have any such apps on my devices at this time...this is all coming from user reviews, so I don't actually know which other apps they have installed that might be firing the push ads.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/mjva1/list_of_known_airpush_enabled_infested_apps/)
BTW, I personally have a Tasker profile I enable/disable on need. It just logs all notifications with the notification's title and app, allowing me to detect airpush apps.
EDI: I remember some game kept sending chinese ads to my notification bar, and if I remember correctly, I had it for quite some time before it started doing so.. and it only started doing so after I installed another app. I'm not entirely certain about it as it happened a few months back, but now that you mention it, it might have been the same scenario.

Is there a way to do this?

I was using BlackBerry 10.2 the other day and noticed a few things I liked and was wondering if there's a way to get them on the Nexus 5:
1. Ability to click on toast notifications (say of a text message) and respond on the spot without leaving the app you're in.. is it possible to do this on the Nexus 5 anyway?
2. Text message previews/calendar events on the lockscreen.. is it possible?
3. Split calendar to show calendar on top, schedule on the bottom (see pic below) - Any app that replicates this or option in Google Calendar?

Thanks.
1. The SMS app Textra let's you reply from anywhere without exiting the app you're in. I'm sure there are plenty of others that do as well, but Textra is what I'm using.
2. Yes. If you drag the lock screen left you'll move to another screen with a '+' sign on it. You can then add widgets there.
3. There's likely a ton of calendar apps for this but Jorte comes to mind as one that has a split view like that.

Thanks! How would you rate Tetra in terms of fluidity and responsiveness? Also, when a message pops up, is there a slight 2 second delay when loading the pop up after the message is received? I tried a similar app in the past and it bugged me that there was a delay when I saw the notification in the notification tray.
Textra has been pretty good so far through a week of use. No major lags, stutters or anything like that. SMS and MMS work fine. I'd say its as good as or better than the old stock messages app.

[APP] Multi Window Manager (Phone)

I just finished updating this for Kit Kat, so I figured I'd post it
It's your typical "enable multi-window for any app" app with a few extra bells and whistles for the donate version. I don't really like mods that enable every single app because it gets messy and lags the tray out pretty bad, so I made this to let you pick and choose which ones to enable. This is still a WIP, so feel free to give suggestions / bug reports.
Create shortcuts to launch 2 apps in windowed mode at the same time
Create shortcuts to launch any app in windowed mode...the point of this being that it allows you to use 3rd party side bar launchers such as GloveBox, SwipePad, etc. in place of the stock flashbar
Launch 2 instances of the same app...some apps don't work. most browsers don't (4.4 samsung browser does by default)
Backup/Restore your enabled apps list
Auto enable newly installed apps
Inverted (Black) flashbar theme
Remove icon labels from the flashbar

I love your app in 4.3. Now in 4.4 does not work widgets, apps open normally, not in windows. Can you add feature to open apps in floating windows from flashbar?
Thanks very much

Jailbreak vs android. Privacy apps/thoughts

Hi all,
I switch between android and ios every year. For example i have been using note5 till the iPhone 7 came out and switched to ip7. Now from ip7 switched to note 8.
Whatever iPhone i use i m always jailbroken.
Here are my observations.
Iphone has always been known for great apps and app store. While Android is great and known for the customization. But i always found that iphone always had better customization interms of integration 3rd party apps into the system while being jailbroken. For example. There is an app called whoozit pro on iPhone that can just pull info from a regular app store app like truecaller and display it on the incoming call screen. While Android truecaller app can also notify you with a banner on the screen, the iPhone displays text like it was from the contacts itself and looks much more like like stock, but android banner looks like some third-party advertising.
Another app called bioprotect simply locks apps using touch id. I haven't found a single app on the entire play store that can properly lock apps all these years. When an bioprotect locked app is tried to open it instantly askes for touchid and also blurrs out the preview in the recents screen. while every app on the Android allows users to see a snapshot of the app for a milli second befor asking for fingerprint. And worst when pressed recents button u can see a preview of the app all time you want. I dont see why a developer cant built a good app locker that can truly protect the privacy. Thinking of previews in notification its even worse too. No app does that too. While iphone has better cydia apps that does.
Some apps directly add buttons and functionality to the stock dialer apps, some can lock albums in the stock gallery app,
The list goes on.. None of these are available for Android and we brag customization.
Please share your thoughts
