Hello i recently bought a chine cell : the star a2000
i was wondering if there was a way to update android ... i'm currently in version 2.2.1, help me please
I need one too please. Any way to get a DUAL Sim ROM with Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Star A2000?
I recently bought the Star A2000 too, its a great phone but the only drawback is the lack of english support. Would be great if anyone here could provide some help (yes I'm a noob) for upgrading this thing to gingerbread.
Keep an eye out for a post I will be making shortly I hope to cover everything from rooting the phone, to installing recovery and roms to repackaging roms and restoring the imei after factory reset very shortly.
Helo! Me too bought this nice phone about month ago. By now aplied a custom flash from forum . china-iphone .ru /viewtopic . php?f=31&t=13988 forum. Now it works quite faster then on stock flash (befor I had rooted my phone and changed recovery to modified clockworkmod (also in that Russian forum) - very powerful and stabile.
Now I'm wonderin' whether it possible to install android 2.3 to my phone or not. I believe it is? but at the moment have not a clue where to start.
Hi Guys - please check out my post on these phones here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18046607#post18046607
As far as I am aware there is no Roms made that will install 2.3 yet for these phones - however there is come good news too!
I have seen these phones A1000/A2000 on the internet with 2.3 already installed - what we need is someone with one of these phones to create a nandroid back up for us.
I am currently working on porting a cynagenmod android 2.3 ROM to the phone but I am still a long way off as I have come from a PC background... but have managed to customize a few ROMs already to suit my own phone.
Porting a ROM is a big jump though so it is going to take a lot of reading and likely trial and error but I do believe it is possible.
I would love to hear some tips comments or advice from any developers. I do not see why it can not be done if there are models coming with it standard - but I can not be sure.
Great! You're giving me a hope about 2.3. I believe it's portable on our device because architecture requirements musn't change dramaticly since 2.2. Actually I'm from Russia and know 4pda forum, but on chine-iphone (I gave link in previous post, just erase 6 spaces) there are more informations about particular device flashing. If something unclear feal free to help in translation from Russian.

hi my friend, i have an oficial usb to com cable for the a2000, i've buyed this cable because when i was flashing it using the sp-flahstool, the software jumped at an error, thus interrupting the flashing procedure, now the phone does not even power on, there is no ligths, no reaction to any action from the phone, like if the phone has no battery plugged in or whatsoever... the battery is ok, i have other exact same phone, so all the batteries are fully charged, but it is still dead...
thing is, my computer recognizes the cable as a prolific usb to com cable, i have the latest prolific drivers so there all good with it... but when i try to flash the device gives an error that it can not get to the brom chip, and suggest me to connect the phone, im taking the same steps for flashing with this cable that when i flash it with regular cable, following the tutorial on bm-smartphone-reviews, but no joy... i even tried to fash my working phone with the usb-to-com cable, but the same results... am i doing somethig wrong? im skipping a required step?

Hello my Friend.. So when will it be possible for you to make a nan-droid backup image of your 2.3.6 Gingerbread ROM for the least of us others to utilize? It has been a long wait for people like me who own the A2000. This would help greatly  waiting in anticipation for your post
G'Day All
Just recently I purchased a Goophone 4GS, simply a Chinese knock off of an Iphone, but I must say a very good one at that indeed. The phone is very nice and I like it a lot but came with all these Chinese apps installed that make it not only difficult but frustrating to use. The simplest solution is to root the the phone and install the apps I want and in English as well.
Before everyone starts pointing me to this thread and that post, I have spent every night for the past week searching and reading every bit of information on trying to root this phone to no avail whatsoever. Root Rec 3.2 does not work, permission denied, superoneclick either hangs or or comes back with the same.
Z4Root does nothing, Gingerbreak just hangs, Anyandroot says wrong version.
More searching even going to translating the Chinese forum made no difference to the outcome, following their procedure, and all the others nothing seems to work
I have downloaded a rom That I would like to use but I need the phone rooted first, I even tried to install the rom, using the initial setup (surprisingly) in English but keeps telling me new rom no E signature process aborted.
Now I'm new to this game but willing to learn, and have come a long way in a week, so If I ask stupid questions please remember I'm still a NOOB.
If anyone can suggest a procedure, or try this or that please help, Speak up and save my sanity, before end up rooting the phone in a different way.
Thanks

I believe the version is a heavily modded version of 2.2 Froyo OR 2.3 Gingerbread.
An Update I tried a few more packages tonight, CF-Root, and 234root.zip.
CF didn't do a thing, 234 I could not open, non signature error, So I even tried installing 3e refectory installer, but all failed.
Desperate for ideas now, even tried renaming the new rom as backup file to fool the system but no work.
Desperayte for answeres Please!
Thanks

Hi All
Just so I put an end to this thread for others with the same problems the solution is.
The phone is set with an IOS operating system and when you go to root the phone the programme cannot find the correct version. So solution is.
Go to rom.gooapple.com and download an earlier version of the rom . I used 12.02.13.zip and worked.
When you enter the site do not use translator, find the rom and press on it, will redirect you to another site 115 Chinese . Under the picture there are 4 buttons press the white one and download should start.
Once downloaded install it to your SD card go to setup and update from SD, the new rom will then be installed on the phone. Then use the Chinese Root-Rec and it should root. I even checked it with superoneclick and it worked.
So when you check your version on the phone if its running IOS XXXXX then you need to change it to android.
Good Luck.
Thanks to those who assisted me, and I hope I can assist someone else.

Goophone 4gs root
Hi! I'm a newbie and not a techie one. Really.
I have a goophone 4gs, mt6573 (although my antutu says its goophone y5) running android 4.1.1 and i want to root it... pls help.
Hello, and hope this is the right place to post this.
So, without any knowledge about all this smatphone/android stuff, I finally got one by a really good price. An ot-983.
Some friends conviced me to root it. I found a way to do it and noticing all the bloatware from it's original carrier (this phone was carrier unlocked when bought) I decided to clean up a bit.
I ended up cleaning a lot of stuff that I simply didn't use from a \custapp\ folder in there.
Thing is, a day latter I got a notification of a firmware update and I just said yes.
The said update failed, complaining it seems about the lack of some of the deleted bloatware.
Now, here's when the lack of thinking shows.
Wondering about it, I decided to look around options and found the factory reset.
Being a new and mostly empty phone, I did it (wiped clean the sd too),
And there, it went all into hell!
After reboot, it can't get my wireless anymore (have to use a static ip workaround for it...)
Root Checker says it's not properly rooted (using the same rooting technique as the first time doesn't fix it)
superuser still seems to be working, altho it crashes now and then with some errors about permissions.
also, can't get BusyBox working because it says there's no su binary and I can't download an update for it.
In short, I guess I need to get this phone to it's basics, if possible unbranded.
I don't really know what I need for that, but here I am, reaching at you that might help
I guess I need a stock rom and a way to flash it.
I'd appreciate a lot any help on getting whatever it is needed.
*cheers

I simply downloaded the drivers from alcatel website
and then used the root package from here: <can't post outside links. it's a thread on error-soft dot net
Followed the instructions on the .txt included and it worked.
After that I think I had to install Superuser app (from live store)
be careful. My problems came from deleting some stock apps included and then doing a firmware update.
so, don't delete stuff around if you're thinking in doing the upgrade.

Where did you get the upgrade from ?
My story is like this: rooted, uninstalled some bloat from system and after a factory reset I'm stuck in the initial setup wizard (after completing almost all stages from setup it crashes at the end, after connecting at the google account - tryed to ignore that step but either way it crashes). Fastboot works but adb don't.
I do have another identical phone Alcatel One Touch OT-983 but with no root, with no modifications. Is there a way to backup the original/stock image and flash it over the malfunctioning one and restore it??
I tried with the proprietary upgrade tool from Alcatel but no succes as it close saying I don't need an upgrade because it's the last version of software installed in my phone. I thought even to broke intentionally the rom but I'm afraid that the upgrade utility from Alcatel will let me down, as I read that another users didn't managed to complete successfully the upgrading process. Is there a way to trick the system that has a previous version of Android?
Thank you for taking your time to read this and hope someone has an idea to solve our problem.
Have a nice day guys, you can contact me at puiocku at gmail dot com.
Have someone this stock rom (for Alcatel One Touch 983 (Valencia)) ???

I recently "semi bricked", if my Alcatel OT983, if that's possible. It would not boot fully and got stuck on the "jrdsetupwizard has stopped" screen.
Here's what I did. The issue with getting the Alcatel One Touch Upgrade software to work appears to be getting the correct USB Driver installed. There are a number of potential USB drivers. This phone needs the driver in the Alcatel One Touch Upgrade. The stock Windows one or the one used for rooting the phone using instructions from the errorsoft website from the oneofgod will not work with this upgrade procedure.
1. Download the Alcatel One Touch Upgrade software and install on your machine. Open up the folder where the software is installed.
Look inside the folder that is called USB Driver and look inside the appropriate folder for your type of Windows machine 64bit or 32bit (x86) and install that driver for USB - that is the correct one for the upgrade
2. Run the upgrade software whilst connected to the internet. Connect your phone when it is off. You should just get the Android icon i.e. not charging or anything else. The icon should just stay there all the time the process takes place.
3. The upgrade will download. It's when the process gets to about 70% that the phone the starts upgrading. It will take a few moments but when it starts progressing into the late 70s and 80s you should be well on the way. At least that's how it went for me and I got my phone back!
Hope this helps.
to Hajj_3 :
Tanks for share the ROM.. I need it to recover my friends phone..
I just got this phone, not looking to root it yet as theres no option for a custom rom yet.
didnt want to start a new thread as theres not really any section for this phone yet.
Everything was fine until i installed the firmware update. Now applications cannot access the mic. Some complain about it being in use by another app. others like video editor or sound recorder will record, but the video recorder there is no file, and sound recorder crashes when you hit stop.
Alcatels website is useless, wasnt working yesterday, today it is but cant find any contact details incase its a bug in there firmware. Everything works fine except for that. Which is annoying because i use RTA software and now it doesnt as it cant access the mic.
any ideas?
Hi guys,
I've rooted my phone with abd and udpate.zip a long time ago, and it was fine till some days ago it stopped from receiving calls and the home button does nothing when pressed, although in recovey mode it works.
I've done a hard reset, reflashed the recovery.img, system.img and boot.img I've found in this post with fasboot, but did not solve the problem.
I've tried a firmware update with Alcatel's own software but it just keeps saying my firmware is updated already. I've also tried to edit the proinfo file, but I don't know what to change in the file. You can see more about that method here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/9772370-post8.html
My guess is that the files that are corrupted and preventing me from receiving calls are somewhere else than those img's I've flashed. Has anybody got a FULL backup of his rom (e.g. Rom Manager) so I can recover the phone completely?
Thanks!

ht tp: // ww w1. alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/ support/download/one_touch_ 983.html

Is there anyway someone can find a link for it because i have been searching for ages and haven't found one.
http://www.alcatel-mobilephones.com/global-en/support/download/one_touch_983.html
This is absolutely unfathomable.
I find it nearly improbable that in order to create a FULL backup of a phone, you must root it, first.
With the possibility existing that an attempt to do exactly that, may well brick it.
And then we don't need a backup. We need a new phone. :silly:
But, an actual backup would have us able to re-start and try again (and again, and again, ad infinitum).
In hand, one bricked handset (ZTE N9132, and not actually via failed rooting). Let's call it TARGET.
And, luckily, one un-bricked handset of same (ain't eBay great). Let's call it SOURCE. They are running under version 5.1.1
Yes, I know, swap the SIM, change IMEI with carrier, back in business ... er, SOURCE broken glass and just ugly condition notwithstanding. BUT, as a learning experience for me, and a wish-I-had-done-that re-do for others with a similar brick, here's my desire.
I've been all over the web and just when something sounds promising you read, "this next step requires a rooted phone" .
So, here is a working SOURCE phone. stock. just as received from vendor. not setup. factory reset. no SIM.
I want to create a COPY/BACKUP/ROM (correct my wording, please) of this SOURCE phone. Wait... format requirement coming.
Then need to PUSH/SIDELOAD/UPDATE that SOURCE image onto TARGET, and we must note for record that TARGET only boots in recovery mode (i.e., not recognized by PC). That pretty much leaves the "from SDcard" option.
ADB, fastboot, FTM, something else? ... any and all NOT requiring "root".
Because both phones are wiped/reset, user data, settings, etc. are immaterial.
We would be only concerned with creating the minimum image from SOURCE possible to allow TARGET to "snap out of it".
How about it guys ?
Can this actually be done WITHOUT ROOT?
Thanks in Advance
Hi !
I wish you would post a little bit less fancy because some of us aren`t native English speakers , like me ... anyway , let me tell you what I`ve understood so far
You have 2 devices which are the same (note that "same" doesn`t mean same brand but exactly same brand VARIANT as same brand may have multiple variants)
You want to transfer a nandroid backup from one to another directly using a PC when both connected to the same PC
First , that`s impossible
Second , even if would be , one of them isn`t recognized by PC due to "brick" status
So , disconnect them both , get a coffee , pull the backup from the working one , save it on the PC , keep on drinking coffee and find a way to un-brick the other device
When done ... hum ... well , if the bricked device gets back to life , no need to restore any backup , right ?
I understand what you want , you think that pushing a backup from a working device onto a bricked one may fix it , nope , it won`t work
How to unbrick your device , as I couldn`t find any support here on XDA for it , can be posted here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
And to make a nandroid you don`t actually need root , you need an unlocked bootloader which allows you to flash a custom recovery which has this function
Here is an interesting tool
Good luck !

YES! That's exactly what I want.
And "IT WON'T WORK" is the part that blows my mind.
Exactly the situation when you restore a dorked device from a bad/failed upgrade via recent backup.
But, in this case, WHY doesn't that work?

The process of writing the partitions is not just a simply copy /paste (it's above my understanding especially on Samsung devices...) connect to Odin and you'll see how many processes are used in

Do like this.
Download Odin, and your most current ROM, search for the model that can be found behind the battery, download the drivers from Samsung Devices USB,put your device in download mode, and reinstall your system (Remember that it will format your entire system)
No luck

I'm talking about an advanced thing! Im not a beginer
On android world, i modded/ported some roms but what i'm talking about is happening in Stick rom!
If you read my post again carefully you'll understand that i (Already flashed the stock rom for 99+ times via Odin) even flashed many different regions ;(
I hope someone help me, i'm running currently Android OREO didn't face this issue until now! but hoping if there is a possibility for fixing this issue on Android Pie, i'm on 8 Binary Bootloader if it helps.
I'm confused how no boady talks about this issue, however i hope someone faced the same problem so we discuss about it!
Thank u for ur reply
попробуй очистить гугл поиск и отключи автообновление ,сам мучился с такой проблемой. пока все нормально.
Mod edit: Translation. Try to clear google search and disable auto-update, he was tormented with such a problem. it's okay for now.
чисть кеш и удали обновление гугл ,автообновление выключи в плей маркете.

I may look a little boring, but let's go from the beginning ok?
- Download Frija, I use this software a lot to do the maintenance on the cell phones I receive.
-See where your cell phone was manufactured, in my case it was in Brazil, in this case I use ZTO.
+++In some cases of this error I use CSC ICE, it usually resolves
* If none of this helps we will use .pit and the entire Stock Rom, including Home.
- At that moment let the phone start
- the Samsung Initial settings will appear. DON'T MOVE ABOUT ANYTHING, LEAVE HIM ON THIS SCREEN FOR A 5Min, Normally he is working behind
- If none of this helps you, we will root and force an installation of the latest SystemUI that Rom supports via adb.
+I managed to fix these problems that way, but in the last case I buy a Motherboard, sometimes it is a Flash Memory defect.
At any time if you can provide a system log, it would help to identify much easier
I managed to force this error that you are receiving on a device of mine, apparently the partition from Oreo to Pie directly via Odin is not being able to make good use of the Cache. I used the J701f .pit, PIT ONLY And the option of repartitioning enabled along with f.resetTime.
I took it out and tried to start it normally, the download mode returned with that and in that I was already happy, because my fear was having some problem in the memory of the device preventing the modification, With the download mode forced on, I used Odin with all the files, this time without Home.
Try this procedure, I don't know if it will work, but it doesn't cost I believe

Each device reacts differently to the error, so the solution varies widely.
