Hey pal..over clock used to increase cpu frequency and improve phone performance,,unfortunately in chacha cant be done...because of the kernel...and its still impossible...but its risky..cuzz maybe u damage ur phone...or maybe phone lose its stability...and another thing is the battery drains fast after overclocking,,,

Hi everyone !
I have a big problem :
I had an HTC DESIRE and it was very fun to install a lot of ROM and I liked it but my phone has been stole and now I have an HTC DESIRE S.
It's a great phone but it's S-ON and I miss my ROM !!!
So here I am, I can take my dad's DESIRE and give him my DESIRE S but if I do it, maybe I will have some regrets if HTC or the devs unlock the bootloader...
What do you think about my situation ?
we all can't look in the future if htc will open bootloader and for which phones they will open it
we can't help you about your situation
anyway the desire s doesn't has much devs yet so if you are about custom roms the desire is better for you
Yeah, I'm thinking the same.. thank you for your anwser !
I would keep the S no matter of root or not. Better gpu

OK is it even worth it to root your sensation...IF you like!! the stock format senses and dont want a custom rom, because i found that its not any faster in do so,overclocking is limited so theres no real speed benifits
what do you think ?
I think that it is strange that one questions the need to root their device.

well rooting should make it run faster RIGHT?!? well i have two here with one rooted and the other stock.....want to guess which is faster ?
Thats a no brainer Rooting is always better
No, rooting will not automatically make your device faster. If you're happy with the stock ROM then leave it.

im on ARHD 3.6.2 ,
after couple of minutes of playing games but phone is super hot i mean i cant even touch the bottom part of the phone (where the home button etc is at)
anyway i know there are some solutions or think there are solutions ,
i would like to know which one you think is the best?
solutions that i think will help:
1. run the patch to down clock to 1.2 - in mike's first post
2. run the thermal patch on faux kernel's thread
3. change my kernel to bricked kernel
also i got anker battery if its important.
if you have other suggestions it will be really good to hear them out.
I ran the thermal patch and it has worked pretty well for me. I haven't had my phone get as hot as you were describing earlier however, it was uncomfortable to hold even through my case.

Sorry about the delay, it took me a little while to find it again.
Download link below.

Happy flashing!
Edit: Don't forget to clear your cache partition and your dalvik caches. And remember ALWAYS back-up prior to flashing, just incase.

The faux kernels and patch is based on HTC source code for the above patch. The patch you want to use for CM7 can be found at the link below.

you guys might want to download faux clock apk to help with the manual set up of the kernel specs.
just a suggestion. always helps to know exactly what your working with and be in control. its a little more detailed than say oc daemon.
side note: remember to try and uninstall if you have issues in the future trying to flash new kernels.
i will give a try to the thermal patch..
but i dont holds to much hope for it to work...
unless it some miracle patch
my phone getting really hot.. its really weird what is the reason
Would this patch work on the stock kernel?

What ROM are you running?
Edit: Yes, use the top download.
Remember to backup and clear caches before flashing.
(i didn't see your signature at first)

What setup do you have? Currently I'm running Android Revolution HD 4.1.3 with faux kernel 0.2.2 beta 2 and I am getting no heat problems like I was when I was running 0.2.1 final. I also have amaze camera, modified bootanimations, EQS, APM, custom battery icon, and the 4G symbols added on. Only thing I did was switch my kernel. The patch helped with the 0.2.1 final faux kernel some but not as much as I would have liked so I switched kernels. I would recommend giving this kernel a try. Link below

No need to cool it down.
If it gets that hot, there is a problem with either sw or hw, it's not normal. So instead of healing symptoms you should look for a cause.
i cant think of any cause,
as my phone worked great before i rooted it and installed ARHD
after i got mike's Rom each time (no matter which version) i ran a game (most likely angry birds) for more then 10 min the phone start to get really really hot.
so.. any ideas? its must be a rom issue which need to be fixed but i got no clue what to do next

Mike's ROM over clocks the CPU and that can result in generating a lot of excess heat. Use the Daemon to put the CPU back to the wake max setting of 1188000.
HI !!
i have the sensation ... totally awesome except the battery isnt so good since im a gamer XD ... the one thing that really bothers me is that the camera flash doesnt work even when im on 30 % ... it says " unable to use flash as battery is low " .. is there any way around this ??? plzz help me !!!
Thankss
If your rooted and on a sense 3.5 rom, try a custom kernel. Ex: Bricked or Faux123's kernel. It removes that cap.

Battery&camers
Go into settings and turn off power saver and that should fix that. I had the same problem and I have discovered when you have power saver turned on it won't let you use the camera when the battery is @ 30% and no you don't need to be rooted to do this It's just a matter of going into settings and untick power saver however rooting the HTC sensation 4 is strongly recommended and flashing a ROM along with really good kernel you will increase your performance and battery will last longer

Faux has a kernel which tweaks the limit to 10%. You might want to give it a go

Still doesn't work for me.
I have rooted and flashed ARHD 3.6.2.
I have disabled Power Saver mode in settings.
The phone still prevents me from using flash below a certain battery threshold (seems to be around ~30%).

Can anyone figure out how the Xeon runs at 1.5 now that the kernel source is out?

I think he thinks that the XE stands for xeon (I've never heard of this myself)
Really? I mean the sensation xe. I'm asking bc I want to know how its running at stock 1.5 so that I can use this on my regular sensation. Yes I know there are custom kernels that give this option but would rather run 1.5 on stock configuration

It's the same processor, HTC just underclocked our CPU to 1.2ghz at the time to save battery.
But with the XE having a much bigger battery, they can evenout the battery life and run the CPU at it's intended speed.
understood, but the question is HOW. If they both have the same hardware, there is something (kernel related maybe) that is making the XE run at 1.5 . Nobody has been able to figure this out as of yet (at least from what I've read).
Correct. Question is why same firmware runs at different clock speeds on the same hardware on two different models
edit, what it's XE CID?.
