[Solved] CID Question - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I don't plan on re-locking bootloader, so I was wondering if changing my CID back to stock would cause any problems. Didn't think it would but I thought I should ask around. Also, AT&T's CID is CWS__001, right?
Thanks

Doesn't matter if you are s-off. Why do you want to change it?

Eh, just in case I might need to send it in for hardware repairs. I edited my hboot to look exactly like stock. This was the last thing to make it perfect lol
Thanks for the reply. I feel terrible asking questions here cause I know I should know this stuff by now and all you guys that help out over here get enough of this crap as it is.

Yeah that's the cid.
Fastboot oem writecid CWS_001
Think that's the command

Don't forget the second underscore. There's 8 characters in CID.

[Q] returning phone to HTC with relocked bootloader

the reason i want to return the phone is the proximity and light sensors stopped working after i received the OTA ICS update. i unlocked the phone and tried a few custom roms but none of them fixed the problem. so i relocked the bootloader and flashed my stock RUU so now its completely back to stock except in the bootloader screen it says "relocked" now instead of "locked". when i send it in will HTC make a big deal out of that? the phone is still s-on and everything.
Yup

I'm sorry, but they will definitely know that you have unlocked the bootloader.
There may be workarounds, but I'm really sorry, I don't know any.

There maybe a way to show your Hboot as locked, but how can you tell for sure that HTC doesn't keep a track of the phones that have been unlocked using HTC Dev. You are literally telling them "Hey! I'm about to unlock my bootloader which is going to void my warranty!" I do suppose they keep a track of such things.
Try unlocking again and flash diffent firm and relock it on gb idk nice to see there stalking our phones
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Don't know if this works for the Sensation, but if someone is trying to go back to locked hboot, give it a try.
Go back to totally stock. Flash a RUU, preferably GB so that you have an earlier hboot that can be easily S-OFFed again.
fastboot oem write secureflag 3
Reboot and you should be S-ON again. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU ARE TOTALLY STOCK WITH A SHIP HBOOT OR YOU WILL BRICK.
Use revolutionary to S-OFF again. Hopefully, you will be locked at this point.
If not, repeat, but use JuopunutBear to S-OFF.
If you're still unlocked, this method doesn't work on the Sensation.

In your case, try using JuopunutBear to S-OFF and see if it restores your bootloader to "locked"
Does it only say that for people who used HTC tool?
revolutionary does not unlock bootloader.
Why not just flash pg58 with stock hboot in it? Or better yet, I believe stock tmous ruu has leaked (you are on tmous, right?)

Maybe start with supercid first
i understood that we need to get supercid before we can get s-off?
So i think we have to start dig around mmcblks with a hex editor to achive that.
i did a little search and i think it could be somewhere in /misc, but don't let my n00biness guide you wrong. they have it in S4 on mmcblk04. i did same mod to my HOSs3 but cid didn't change so the S4-method doesn't work . Does anyone have any knowledge about the whereabouts of the cid?
yes, superCID is starting point for getting s-off

In fact, with this method cid will change. But spl will re-write it back at next boot. So it is not mmcblk0p4.

Just sitting there and doing nothing won't do anything. If you have basic knowledge of the Android/HTC filesystem and some adb commands you can try different things if they work. I'm searching on the internet how other HTC devices got supercid and I try the same thing on the One S. But it's not working out well because of the r/w bug on Trickdroid 6.

Sending phone in for repair

The microphone is broken on my phone and I got to send it in for repair. I was wondering whether there is anything more that I have to do besides a RUU to return the phone back to a completely stock state before I send it in? Im s-off running viper xl with a custom boot splash and radio and super cid.

Hey bro. Are u sending it to htc for repair? Or verizon? I would assume htc, since it is a "repair". If so, then u really dont need to return it to stock. They dont care unless its something software related, but since its hardware, u should b good. After u run the ruu, u should b stock anyways, no?

You would think incorrectly. HTC reserves to right, and has, voided warranties for flashing custom ROMs.
Its been discussed on the "international" One X forum, that some folks have had warranty claims denied due to having ever flashed a custom ROM, despite returning to stock. Apparently, they still have some way to tell, even if you RUU to stock. Although they will honor the warranty if the bootloader is unlocked, but a custom ROM never installed. Inconsistent and a bit strange.
But HTC warranty service probably varies a bit by region. So its at least worth a try.

Why take chances? Flash back to stock and s-on. Why give the over-worked, under-paid factory repair tech a reason to deny warranty repair on your borked phone?

Good to know, thanks.
Most folks on here in the US seem to send their phones to AT&T (which seem to be pretty lenient). So its good to hear a report regarding HTC US.
Everywhere else I've read, HTC can be pretty brutal.

Ya bro, ive had all positive experiances with HTC. Im on my third replacement DNA from them. All free replacements. One cracked screen, one bricked, wouldnt take a charge, or boot, and this 3rd, which im waiting on right now as a matter of fact. fed ex should b here any moment. It had a blue blotch, or "smudge, within the screen. But all of them i had absolutely no problems getting them warranted out.
If they get a phone which is s-off, for all they know, they sent out a dev phone on accident. Ive seen it numerous times.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Flashing a custom rom can cause some hardware issues, so I can understand why HTC wouldn't warrant it.
If I was returning to HTC, I would change the CID back and RUU but leave bootloader unlocked and S-OFF, this way, if they decide to update the software to the latest, you can still flash and whatnot.

If you're S-OFF you don't need to relock to run an RUU and since S-OFF doesn't actually give full access on the oneXL without an unlocked bootloader, best to just leave them both.

First off, if you're s-off running an ruu will not brick your phone. So, just run an ruu, relock, and generally s-off doesn't void warranty because some units ship with it stock.

S-off..Ramrunner or revone ?

Hi folks
I managed to successfully S-off my mini a few weeks ago using Ramrunner however I've seen the threads about people using Revone.
I'm curious as to What the difference is between them both and is there any advantage to using one over the other?
Thanks

I'm no expert in these things, but I'm guessing one s-off is the same as another s-off. I know revone also allows you to remove certain flags from the bootloader like "tampered". Dunno if rumrunner also does this. But that's all cosmetic. As long as your s-off worked your all good to go.

yeah kinda thought they done the same thing. i might give the revone a bash as i would quite like to get rid of "tampered" in bootloader (a bit fussy with little things like that lol)

I'm proper OCD about things like that. But be careful because I don't know whether running 2 different s-off methods could conflict somehow. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge than me can confirm this or not?

Revone is only for hboot 1.44 and rumrunner is for all other hboots. To use revone commands you have to be on 1.44 hboot
Hope this helps!

Yeah Hboot 1.44 is for the HTC One (M7), not the Mini. Lol, sorry I was on my phone earlier and didnt realize what forum I was in.
If you ever want to s-on back then go with revone. I use the revone method and it was easy.

Sorry for late reply. I was using REVONE before and I used fastboot oem writesecureflag 3. It should work for rum runner too. If not s-off it with REVONE again and do that. You'll have to downgrade to hboot 2.19 to use revone.
Do you have any steps how to restore to full stock status?
