[Q] Nexus 4 crippled want it?, SOO HTC ONE, S4, OR Xperia Z? - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys Nub here. yea i saw the other thread about which to get but i want to change it up a bit. if its still to similar someone will flame me and ill delete... prolly. anywho
So i woke up this morning to my poor lil Nexus 4's alarm yelling at me. Went to swipe it off but no go. realized that the screen had a edge to edge crack about 45 degrees. musts fallen off my desk due via vibration and landed so perfectly on my lamp learning against the wall. had a case and a protector on it so i guess i had a stroke of bad luck. now no touch will register cept a tiny tiny corner that wont even unlock it.. after playing with it all i can do is turn airplay mode on and off, cant even wipe data on the phone because of my touch Twrp recover... lol. really? btw its a 16gb sexy black
Thats my end of my nexus. Im selling for parts or repair if anyone wants it. lets say ill start at 150 and highest bidder wins? pm me or post on the thread.
BUT i really am on my way to either grabbing a S4 HTC one or Xperia Z
Im almost done doing my research. id get the N4 again but im a geek who loves trying it all out. so i need a little push. thats where you come in XDA
edit:
I care about looks and customization. i dont care what comes stock as ill throw a cooked up rom on there. If you think one has a better selection for roms or mods leme know.
I did my spec search and review hunt even the unboxing and thought video watching. but its still alot of money for a college kid to be throwing around so i just want to make sure i wont regret it. after reading all i can i turn to the last place my thoughts can be settled.
also i am using att of course im gunna unlock it but im getting this phone through tmobile as a gift from my girl. so id like to use 4g. if you know any issues with unlock from tmob please let me know
XDA fokes please. if you can give me some reasons why you would get either of the phones id love to read your thoughts or tips.
Im mostly looking for sweet hacks or mods made that i dont know baout the phones. or even apps or features that might make me nerdgasm. Imagine a debate. your defending the phone of your choice.
this is what i think right meow.
Galaxy s4 - I love the mad specs, i bet i can crank that baby so bad it'd melt my hands. but i hate the buttons and the plastic...but i like the screen size at least.
HTC one - Im not a fan of the 2 buttons. i like having a menu button or no buttons at all for pie or gestures. Styles ok specs r tasty but not a fan of the cam really. this is my second choice. plus i had my share of a 4.7 display.
Xperia Z - was never a fan of waterproof phones, seemed like a gimic. but this is my first choice, besides the nexus 4 it does not waste space like other do for touch buttons i can utilize all of that yummy 5 inches for what ever i want. and i will trust me. the waterproofing is a plus, im talking bout anime in the shower xD. spec r ok im willing to settle for 1.5 because it looks sleek comes in purple and is not plastic.. dig the screen size. sony usually makes nice devices but shatty software. i think i can solve the software problem because well xda is here to back me up .
Thanks for your guidance you guys. unless this thread gets shut down due to copycattin. <3

oh dang ok... now im leaning towards the one. hah see this is somthing i was looking for. thanks too bad its still a 4.7 screen really want to try a big boy out but i guess its not a big diff.

S4, HTC One and Xperia Z are all old news now that the more powerful Snapdragon 800 phones are coming out starting with the LG G2. So if you want a phone that will last you years without regret, you would be better off getting a S800 phone instead of the slower and older S600.

Don't even consider a 600 anymore.
800s are the way to go. Apparently they will have native support for the always listening feature. Just like the Moto X. Which is not a bad choice. Neither is LG G2. Or the upcoming M8 (HTC One+). Note 3. S5?

No matter what you get it'll be outdated in 3-6 months, but if it was me I would get either a black GS4 or Xperia Z

yet another I LOVE MY G2X THREAD

Ok, so, let me start by saying, you must have a non defective unit for this lol... To love it.. I've had both defective and non defective and its night and day..
I love my g2x (had one since release give our take a few Weeks for the crapsation). This phone is rock solid. I love the speaker on the bottom under the awesome grill. The stand alone hdmi port is great for still needing to charge while using it. The iPs display at 4 inches is the perfect size, it has a amoled like color with sharpness in texts amoled doesn't give... I could go on and on, but I just wanted to state that i'm sticking this beast until I get my hands on a quad core. Nothing else is a upgrade...
Did mention the awesome games? Try sprinkle on this.. Smooth as a hit of Sativa..
no haters....
I love my g2x, ordered it minutes after it was available online. It works great never had any issues with it.
Best Phone ever!!
I like my G2x as well (love is way too strong a word here) but I would like it even more if the FFC were of any use, if the A2DP worked, and if the promise of vanilla Android leading quick updates had been kept.
So yea, I'm looking forward to something better.

Yes, my phone is More Gangsta than yours...
Yes, my phone is a beast. Just before meetings start, I used to whip out my n900 playing angry birds and everyone else would eventually look for it on their iPhones, They moved to android based phones...THEN While everyone whips out their verizon driod X2, their ATT android phones and show off angry birds...whip out my phone and I show off Backbreaker...and sit it on the table and the meetings start...
Everytime I whip out a phone, amazement sets in... 'What kind of phone is that, it's so thin, sounds good, is that an HDMI port at the top, that looks like a 'droid' <-- c'mon folks is my normal response...Droid's were on Star Wars, android devices are phones and tablets maybe even a microwave or refrigerator. So STOP CALLING THESE ANDROID phones 'Droids'...
I sit it down, meeting stops, The glare from the side in shear amazement, because they can read my text messages from 4 feet away...
I say the same thing...My phone is awesome. Basic android Friggin great!
Welcome to the club. I also enjoy the hell out of my G2x!

Right there with ya. I've been on board with the G2X since early on. Got mine back at the end of April. Definitely love it, as much as one can love a phone. Lol
Thanks for this thread smashpunks. I know some people have legitimate issues with their phones. But it's nice to hear the other side of things too.
Love my g2x to death too just rooted and flashed to bionic rc1
After Gingerbread all is well for me!

Love mine even though it has screen bleeding. Just rooted and flashed Cm7.
the g2x is fine but i was watching the stock market and saw a lot of double purchases g2x stock and ky. so that is a little worrisome. im not buying any used g2x's.
Masters of redundancy here. How many times do people feel entitled to review a device? Or is this a cheap attempt to keep things alive in the G2x forum by prevoking argumentation since that is all these sort of threads ever amount to? From someone that makes it quite clear they are a frequent visitor of the g2x forums making yet another one of these threads instead of contributing to the plethora of similar ones screams "I want attention."
And since some are going to cry 'troll,' I'll say my piece: this phone is powerful but needs a "Some assembly required" sticker on the box. Other than that I stuck with this device thru my woes for a reason & I see nothing comparable to it despite its flaws.

Take a look at the popular game downloads, read a few messages, and see how many don't run correctly on the GSII and sensation. I am sure its a wonderful phone and whatnot, but software does not seem to work with great compatibility. Beyond running Tegra games, the Tegra runs all games with better compatibility.
See anyone posting that there favorite games don't work?
G2x is fastest on gaming benchmarks still.
Even i am loving my T-Mobile G2X so much.
In-spite of being purchased an used one off ebay, my phone didn't have any issues.
No reboots, no screen bleeding etc.
Very happy.
Just point me to a place where game discussions are happening around this mobile phone.
Just got my replacement. Haven't had one reboot yet. Battery is about 20 hours on stock gb . Lovin it.

[Q] Should I trade my Shift for Nexus S?

Ok,Here me out I know this has been asked but I have a different situation and reall y need input as of right now I've read so many reviews and heard so many diff opinions I just want some help on here.
Ok so I bought the shift 11 days ago and realized while I have no problems with it I do want the most out of my upgrade, that being said I turned my attention towards the nexus S, also by the way I only wanted to spend 100 dollars no more than that or I would've gotten the Evo 3d or some other dual core awesome phone. Anyways, I know I would give up the hardware keyboard but feel this is inevitable and something I will eventually do. However the NS has a faster processor, better screen, bigger screen, no crap sprint apps you cant get rid of and a forward facing camera which is a big positive for me.
Heres the deal though I never go against reviews and all the stats say that the Shift wins by like a whole start on every review site. That being said a sprint tech said they have more returns on shifts than the NS and that he loves his NS. So I go in considering the trade and the salesman comforted me saying he wouldn't make the trade. I took his advice then got home and thought well of course the salesman said that it'd be cheaper and they'd have to refund me about 50 bucks and a hundred in the long run. Also I read it has bad wifi problems is that true? I'm sorry for the disorder of this post, I'm just extremely frustrated and don't have much time.
SO I know this has been long, but in eveyones opinion what would you do? i know the NS feels cheaper but I mean does that matter? With a nice case, a zag full body cover and insurance should that matter? Also, the 16gb no sd card thing doesn't bother me I don't think I'll ever and never have exceeded 4gb.
I only have 2 days to decide.
Thanks everyone in advance

I would have gone with the nexus s. But I am holding out for the prime
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
Yeah, I just read several times the forward cam is garbage do you know about this? I'm wondering all I want to use it for is skyping. Also another big selling point for me was the thought of Ice Cream Sandwich on it soon vs. the shift taking forever if ever getting it. I heard the NS ram is bad is this true?
Well i'm going to be bias in my opinion, but here goes. There's a reason thr Shift does better on almost every review you read. It's a better device ( IMO ) . Yes it doesn't have a foward facing camera. But if that's the only deciding factor, than just get an EVO4G. Way better than the Nexus S. Plus even though it's been put on EOL. It's still got a lot of life in it. I've had a lot of chances to use other devices, and compare them head to head with the Shift. In the end the Shift always wins. Just a better device than most out there, very underated. So I would say stick with the Shift. But what the Hell do I know .
I've owned a lot of phones and the Nexus is one of them. Few things of consideration..I'd say the WiFi on the Nexus bests the Shift, to answer that question. For me, the battery life on the Nexus is not as good as the Shift. Also, the radio in the Nexus has issues. Poor reception. At home, even roaming, I could barely send a text. This was my biggest reason to part with it and go back to HTC. Other than that I felt the Nexus was a nice phone. No issues with build quality and the Super Amoled kicks ass.
Also, if you are a big tweaker/flasher consider that there are a few rooted roms for the Nexus, but not much. And they are all plain AOSP so they are pretty much the same.
If the Nexus S was out when I got the shift I would have got the Nexus instead. Don't get me wrong I love the shift to death, but unless you want to keep the sense ui then get the Nexus. (I think they even ported HTC Sense to the Nexus S)
Yes the shift is fast-but the nexus is faster, has a better screen, and also a ffc.
Although if you stick with the shift its still an amazing phone
If you don't care about a physical keyboard, get the NS4G. I really want my next phone to have an AMOLED. Plus the support we get from HTC is non-existent for the shift.
Also, the Nexus phone should get the Ice Cream Sandwich update, where the Shift will need to go the AOSP/CM route (most likely, because of non-existent support mentioned above).
Tell ya what if you don't want to trade your shift for a nexus s then let me have the trade. you can have my shift all rooted and ready to go. I want that sleek curvy s in my hands.
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
Ill tell ya cuz I'm doing this right now. I'm selling my shift Sunday and getting the NS4G Tuesday. I love my shift to death but I want a new toy. But since you can get a shift for the same price on eBay as a ns4g than go for it!

When are you guys upgrading to the note?

In the spirit of several Infuse owners coming to the Galaxy Note forums trying, but failing miserably, to convince people that the Note isn't really an upgrade, I'm asking you guys: when are you switching phones to the superior in all aspects and huge upgrade to the Infuse that the Note is?
Sent from my superior GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
That ugly Super AMOLED PenTile display still puts me in doubt. Maybe when Samsung releases a Note with a Super AMOLED Plus IPS display I'll be more interested. I'm baffled as to why they'd take such a big step back in technology for the screen on this phone. Sure it's 1280x800 and 285 PPI but even my old Captivate looks better when it comes to colors and lack of artifacts. I'm still waiting for an HD SAP screen, 1080p would be even better.
You are totally off base... mine is in hand, 1200x800 the colors are more bright and sharp than my infuse or cappy .... 1.4 gb processor, able to oc to 1.83 with the custom kernel we have. UCLA1 2.3.6 stock firmware with official ics coming in march, it will decimate the gnexus. Its 10 times the phone of a cappy or infuse... best Samsung smartphone they've released. And just wait til the collective gets done with it...

It's a great looking phone spec wise, but for me it's just too big. If it was a 4.5" device i'd be all over it but I don't want a phone any bigger than that due to personal preferences and how I carry it (see front pants pocket). I stopped by a store and tried it out, but there was no way it was comfortably going in there.
IMO anyway, after the screen passes the 5" mark, to me it's more of a small tablet than a phone.
You guys have fun with your note's . By the time I get a new phone, the galaxy s IV will be out lol. *waiting*
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
You're going to be waiting a long time my friend. It will be the end of the year before the US receives their GS3 variants, so probably yet another year after that until the GS4 is released over here. I suppose it will be like a year and a half until the international GS4 is released, but that's still decently optimistic.
I guess I am sort of lucky that while I'm on my parents plan I get a new phone every year because they just let me use their upgrades and take my old phones once I'm done. My mom is on my iPhone 3g and my dad is on my captivate. This summer, I will be using my dad's upgrade to get the note. Who knows, maybe the international GS3 will necessitate that I buy that instead, however I highly doubt it will win me over vs. the Note.
And mods, don't close this thread like all of the others. We want to talk to our fellow infusers about a specific phone. Just let there be one thread, when we're gone, it will die naturally.

It's a very simple practical issue: If I can't sit down comfortably with the phone in my pocket, it's annoying. If I can't comfortably hold the phone the way I want to, it's annoying. When I can't hold it up to my head without feeling like I'm wearing half a helmet, it's annoying.
I'm not buying a phone that annoys me.

Have you tried sitting down with one in your pocket? I really don't think it's as cumbersome as you would think. That is unless you wear girl jeans or nuthuggers? But with either of those the infuse is too big anyways.
And how would you hold it that you can't with your infuse? Yes it's bigger, but is there really a time when one handed use is absolutely necessary and can't wait for another free hand?
Lastly, why be so self conscious about holding it up to your head? I guarantee nobody will judge you negatively for it, and even if they do, what's the difference? They're strangers.
Not really trying to argue, I guess I just see a lot of people passing on such a great device and I don't get it.
Plus, when you are ready to upgrade, what's the harm in giving it a try for 30 days?

Farewell One S Users !

Hey guys, Just letting you all know I will be ditching the One S tomorrow... I've got the Galaxy Note.
I know your thinking ''WTF?!?!?!'' But i had so many issues with the One S (signal related) it was driving me mad, I was offered the S3 (at a hefty price) or the Note, for free, So I took it.
When I first saw the Note I thought ''OMG Thats Hideous, Its waaaay too big'' But the more I saw it, the more I liked it !
My other contract is up soon so I will get the SGS3 then.
So thanks to every one who helped me since day one, I will be moving on to the Note forums as of tomorrow
I will still keep my Help Thread updated as much as possible, And will continue to help as and when I can.
Take care & good bye

I'm also considering to leave if I can except I just can't agree to pay the same price for a Galaxy Nexus that have much lower specs everywhere except with the screen and software side... (It's my only choice on my carrier (screw the Razr will ya?))
You are really lucky to have other choices like a Note.
I can't believe that HTC didn't offer a fix for the low signal... Oh, and there still no way to use Skype which I will really need starting next week...

4.3 qHD screen vs 4.8 HD screen don't count as a change?
.3mp vs 2.0mp front camera isn't useful too?
NFC, No-NFC? TouchWiz, Sense? LTE, No-LTE...
The GSIII and the One XL have little to differenciate, but we are talking about the One S here.
There's a huge difference but its value depends on the user and options.

hey azzledazzle,
i really appreciated the way you where getting on top of the issue with the virtual button mess, really liked your input. i counted you in for one who's pushing the issue further with HTC.
So, i find it a bit hard that you "gave up" on it but totally understandable on the other side. My One S is literally doing my head in (wife threw it at me in anger) with that perfectly unusable state its in. It sits there, playing with its screen and buttons just like its gotten its own mind but i cant make it do anything else most of the time.
So if it was like that for you, i can only repeat myself: i do understand. Still i find it a bit sad.
my opinion on the note: am working on it for my brother and i find it disappointing. Samsungs surface is stupid, KIES is like having one leg amputated, cant really go anywhere with that code, the phone hides anyones head while at it (just for the lolz of it), its too big. seriously.
And as a tablet, its too small. But as i said, my opinion
Good luck on your new adventures mister Azzle!
Hey mate,
Have fun with the Note, its been my primary device for 7 months now. Its a great phone. After a while its size becomes normal.
As for the comments above, i find it a perfect size, its like having a tab on you at all times. My only gripe is touchwiz, i do prefer sense.
Peace!

I can't say as I blame you. I getting pretty sick of my One S. Brilliant phone except it has next door to useless signal reception. It spends 3 to 4 hours a day without signal - which irritates when I know signal is good. What to replace with I dunno but this issue is likely to sicken me off HTC. Won't be the Note though as far too big for me

Same here. After two months I am getting rid of it for Galaxy nexus $349 from the play store. We have minimal support for this device. Thanks to cm9 devs anyways.
It make no good to have powerfull phone that cannot multitask or have no completed custom ROM. And now Jelly Bean. By the time ONE S gets JB Google will announce next nexus probably this fall with KEY LIME 5.0
Better have slightly outdated hardware that prrobably will not be much noticable and have up to date software, vanilla or custom ROM with no issues.
And HTC and their delayed kernel source release. SIII released it before device was on the market. That how you get developers love.
I really wanted to love this phone, but yesterday I had a chance to exchange it for a new one in the box to see if it fixed my signal/wifi issues or get the Galaxy S3. Every smartphone I have owned has been HTC so I was nervous, but I opted for the S3 and all I can say is wow. It's an awesome phone and completely blows the One S out of the water for my needs.
I knew going into the the One S I would be making concessions on things I wanted such as an SD card slot and removable battery. Its a super sexy phone, but if you can't use it as a phone it does me no good, too many dropped/missed calls and poor wifi. I hope they do fix the signal issues for those who keep it and I'm glad some people were experiencing no problems.
HTC really needs to up their game on the next round of phones, I gave them extensive feedback online and they even called to follow up, which was nice. I told them I have owned a G1, MT3GS, G2, MT4GS and One S and enjoyed them all with the exception of the OS. I did have a seperate issue with them concerning the MT4GS and replacement parts that irritated me as well.
Best of luck to you all and thank you for all the help and resources from this forum!

[Q] Im Just not sure what to do here S3 or N4

First off thanks for your time,
That being said Ive gotten myself into a Brain boot loop that I just cant seem to get out of.
So here's the situation Im currently the proud owner of a Samsung GS3 which hands down is a fantastic phone
the phone is currently running CM 10.1 nightly with the KT747 kernel OC'd to 2.1 GHz Thanks to both devs for there fantastic work
so i guess you could say i have somewhat of a "raw" android experience with a few tweeks that is.
Being that its that time of year and tax return is working its way from the IRS to my bank account Ive been considering trading
my GS3 for the N4 but i just cant seem to put my finger on which device is for me so Im turning to the great people of this forum for help
I know the perks and the downfalls of each phone and the arguments on why one is better than the other so here's my stand point
I DONT NEED/USE
-Expandable storage
-LTE is not top priority
-Removable battery is nice but not necessarily a deal breaker
-Camera Im so/so about - not sure if the N4 has 0 shutter lag hoping someone can shed
some light on this for me it is one feature I do really enjoy on the S3 because i do have
kids that love to move around and are hard to get a good picture of but I feel both cameras are up to par
So all that being said I guess Im just looking for some outside opinions at this point
is it really worth me switching to the N4 or should i hold on to my cash and my S3
Again I do appropriate your time and help.

While the Nexus 4 is beautiful and has higher specs in some parts, I'd recommend saving your money until "the next big thing" comes out like the galaxy s4 or the rumored Motorola X phone.
If you do prefer the stock android experience as that's what you're currently using, you should be fine as the S3 will be almost as good as if you were to get a Nexus 4.
Of course I don't own the devices but I've tried them both for a day or two (friend let me borrow) but I ended up staying with my Galaxy Nexus and decided to save my money as the performance jump isn't that great even from then. The next generation phones do show promise and could possibly be worth upgrading for.
Yea I'm really considering waiting since I did just upgrade to the S3 so if I waited it out the full 18 months they love to stick us with they will have the "super s" or "s5" by then. I think all in all I'll just purchase the Nexus 7.

Well as already pointed out... I would say wait till the 14th... see what the s4 has to offer, then change your phone...
Personally, considering what you said in the first post... you don't want ANY of the extra things the s3 offers over the N4, but you ARE a fan of what the N4 offers which the s3 doesn't... being kindof vanilla android... being a cm10 user, although the s3 will be supported for a while I'm sure, the amount of time it takes to iron out all the bugs due to not having the Exynos source code, atleast for me was extremely frustrating... with the nexus your always ready to go with any custom rom... with the occasional bug here and there...
But if the s4 again has a exynos, the same dev difficulties will stay... not to mention the super delayed updates... so I personally think, wait for the S4... if it doesn't wow you then get the N4 because it seems its better suited to your needs...
As for getting a nexus 7 instead... google I/O is pretty close... its time for a new nexus 7inch tab so you will most likely see it then and avoid a buyers remorse getting an outdated tab now... rest assured there won't be a new nexus phone just yet... its too soon...
So wait a week and make your decision...

Not sure how much this will pertain to you, but here's my $.02.
Personally for me I like having the newest version of Android. While some of the bells and whistles of the themes are nice eye candy, I love the vanilla Android with allowing me to install those nice add-ons. While I don't mind loading roms, I don't want to be forced to do that in order to get the newest version within a reasonable amount of time (<a month or two). I bought the galaxy nexus on Verizon the day it came out. First time I ever waited in line before a store opened for a phone. I was so excited. You may or may not know this, but Verizon has taken the nexus name and completely trashed it. My hopes and dreams of having a phone that would always be on the cutting edge of Android was completely trashed because Verizon needed to "perform ample testing to insure the highest quality software", or some BS like that.
Now, I know what you're going to say. You've got a nexus, you're here on XDA, ROOT THAT THING! Yes, I have. I had the bootloader unlocked within 45 minutes of owning the thing, rooted 10 minutes after that. The problem is I bought a nexus to not be forced to F around with roms, unless I wanted to. Verizon has forced my hand to mess around with roms if I want the newest Android.
So, after that long winded answer, I personally would go with the N4 unless you can wait for the next nexus device. All I know is my next phone will be another Nexus, which I'll by directly from google and tell Verizon to go F themselves.
Best of luck.
Edit: I see you were mentioning the N7. I own one of those, bone stock. Did unlock the bootloader and rooted just to put on the circle battery mod. I love it, but personally I'd buy a N10. The 7 isn't that much larger then my galaxy nexus and I wish I had a slightly larger screen. IMO no need for cell-based service when you can teather it to your phone and get the same thing. It's a great device which has replaced taking a laptop with me on vacation. I bought the dongle thing to connect my SD card to it also, which is great for uploading pictures from my camera.
You should buy nexus 4 as it has largest development community and it is the phone which recieves software updates first and its a google certified phone
It has 4g capability
It has no expandability
But a really good camera
And is for only 430 usd
PLEASE HIT THANKS IF I HELPED
Cash is king. I'd just hold onto the S3 and wait for the new wave of devices that're coming, e.g. GS4 and One. Things that'll be noticeably better.
N4 buddy!!!

Your inputs have been taken into great consideration over this decision
And as far as waiting for the GS4 I am a Samsung employe not that they let us know the details of the device before it is released but Im on my 3rd Samsung phone I think its time to switch it up besides my set father just lost his iPhone 5 to a tragic toilet accident that could really use a new phone so i think its time to "grab the bull by its horns" and finally get my hands on that sexy Nexus 4.
S3
Good deal, best of luck on your next phone adventure. I have to wait until the end of this year before I can begin mine. Hopefully the next nexus device will be released and may include an LTE radio, though I'll still tell verizon to go F themselves. Unless of course I can buy it from google directly and stay on verizon's network. I know, I can hear your laughing from here. :good:
Wait for s4 or the New google Phone
Decision
Im do for an upgrade as well soon..im thinking about htc one.. The only thing holding me back is the fact of how much hassle it is to root it.. One reason why i had got the s3 instead of the last htc one.. Before my s3 i had the evo 3d. It was such a pain in the ass to root.. When i switched to s3. I had it rooted in like 25 min.. I really liked that.. But i do miss htc platform..im on sprint so the nexus 4is not offered.. They did come out with galaxy nexus. I am excited to see what the s4 holds.. I dont know..lol
I hear the s4 will be released unfinished. Something about the CPU overheating so it getting something less powerful and curved glass is not ready so its getting regular glass. Plus no superamoled because they get that display to do full 1080p

Well if you really do not care at all for all those cool features that make the galaxy s3 (and its awesome screen) somewhat great better than other phones....really theres no point in waiting for the galaxy s4 uts probably just gonna be faster..
You might as well get the nexus 4.
I have a feeling it would make your life more of a pain compared to the s3 but u sai u dont care about the cool specs...so go for the cheapest, no point saving up money
