I really love this wallpaper that comes as a default on go launcher now, but even after about an hour of research I can't find the actual wallpaper to download anywhere on the Internet. Now I know it can be extracted from the apk of the theme but I don't have the resources to do it. I was wondering if anybody had the picture or wanted to take on the challenge of extracting it.

Here's an extraction process I found. But I'm not able to do it
1. First navigate to the /data/app folder on your SD card.
2. Locate the particular theme that you want to get the wallpaper from.
3. Select the theme. On my setup, package installer pops up a window and asks what to do..install,view or cancel. Click view
4. Select the res folder
5. select the drawable-hdpi folder
6. Find the default_wallpaper.png
7. Long press on it and the option to extract comes up. Select extract and the file is moved to the extracted folder on my SD card.
8. From there set wallpaper with your app of choice.
9. If you plan on extracting more than one file. You have to rename the files in your extracted folder or else they will over write one another.

Is it possible to change the default "no-photo" android image in the htc dialer?
The little green android guy that pops up for everyone in my contact list that doesn't have a facebook photo assigned to them, he annoys me.
yes. you have to edit the framework-res.apk
If not there, try phone.apk

Easiest way is to download Ninjamorph...choose to do a new project and open up the framework-res.apk in the system folder. Once you do that...scroll to find the people_detail_defaultphoto.png (72x72) and people_home_defaultphoto.png (106x106), replace them one at a time to a photo you have on the root of your SD card. It's good to rename the photo that you are using to read exactly what the system one reads. It will ask you if you want to replace, say yes.
After you do both, choose to finish project. Make you say "NO" when it ask you if you want to ZIP ALIGN. When finish....reboot and see if it changed. It should but I find that some people have run into problems with Ninjamorph not working correctly.

Ah ok, I understand now. No there is not that, however you can do some small edits to the theme in order to change how that bar looks. I'd recommend going through the themes that work on CM7 RC1 (though I'm sure you understand why, this is because GBCollab is essentially CM7 RC1) and seeing if you can find a google search bar you like. You can find screenshots of all of them in my reference guide for themes or you can just click this link. Once you find one you like, download that theme, unzip it and open it up. Inside of the folder system, you'll find a folder called apps and in there you'll see a bunch of apk files including GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk. Grab that file.
Now there are two ways you can do get this onto your phone, the first of which I've never actually gotten to work for myself but I'm going to list it anyways because...who knows?
1) Download Root Explorer from the market.
2) Somehow get the file I told you to grab earlier onto your phone's SDcard, doesn't matter how just remember where you put it.
3) Open up Root Explorer and navigate to where you put that file.
4) Long press the file and select Move on the menu that pops up.
5) Navigate back to the root of Root Explorer and scroll down to the folder System (this'll be one step back from your SDcard)
6) Navigate to the folder Apps
7) At the top, click on where it says [mount r/w]
8) At the bottom click on the paste button and when it asks you if you want to replace the existing file, select yes or ok whichever is answering in the affirmative.
9) Reboot
This has never actually worked for me, I've heard others say it works great so I don't know. If it doesn't work for you here is the other way we can do this however it requires you are on Windows and have either WinRAR or 7zip.
1) Download both the Bliss theme and the theme you want to steal the search box from
2) DO NOT UNZIP BLISS but DO unzip the other theme and again pull out the search box.
3) Open Bliss in WinRAR or 7zip but DO NOT UNZIP IT
4) Navigate to system/apps again and drag the GoogleQuickSearch.apk file you want to use into that folder. I've never done this with 7zip but on WinRAR it'll have a pop up after finishes adding it and just hit OK or Yes, again not sure what it says but just answer in the affirmative.
5) Put the modified Bliss theme on your SDcard and flash it as you normally would.
I know this method works because I've used it. You can also use this method to replace other system apps in that folder. Plus it makes you feel all cool because you edited a theme
~~EDIT~~
I've also attached the stock search box just in case you want that.

Hey, I just discovered a way to get a theme's default wallpaper without asking for it to the developer, I'm sorry if this is obvious for you and this thread is completely unnecessary, but I think it's an interesting point to look at
Ok, let's go
- First, open the zip of the theme with winrar or something similar
- Without unzipping, go to system>framework and unzip only framework-res.apk
- Now, again, open the apk extracted with winrar
- Look for res>drawable-hdpi and there you will find the default_wallpaper.jpg
Unzip that, put it in your phone and enjoy
NOTE:If you don't find in that folder the wallpaper you wanted, you can also look for it in another folder in res called "drawable". Look again for default_wallpaper.jpg
Hi, thanks for this useful post. I know this is an old one but i didn't want to open a new topic.
I want to get the other stock wallpapers of i9003 itself has. (For example, the green one). What should i do? I found only one wallpaper in that directory, not all of them.

Use a root file browser in your phone,
Go to system/app/TwWallpaperChooser.apk
View the files, go to res/drawable-hdpi
All the stock wallpapers are in there. Extract the wallpaper you like.
I used root browser.
Edit: if you're not rooted, you can use astro file browser. It can copy from system without root.

If only I knew it earlier. Thanks for this usefull post, now I know.
First off you need a deodoxed custom rom , next copy the desired APK's from your System/App folder or from the zip you flashed or from wherever.
Download and Install WinRAR or 7Zip and drag the APK onto the shortcut on your desktop. It should open it up , next extract the LDPI and the HDPI folder/s onto your desktop.
Edit your pics with any program e.g. Paint.net . Then replace the modified folder with the old one.
Next download SignAPKTics from APKTops and install that. Drag the modded APK to your SD card.
Click START , choose the APK , click next , choose Test Sign and click sign! Wait 1.5 mins! And ot should be done. Now just (with root browser) replace the old one with the modded one.
And re-boot! Enjoy...

I'm not sure if he has tried it with system app. replacing a file like systemUI.apk or framework-res.apk will make our device continously give FC message. we should use zip file to push the apk to /system/app. system app is also should not signed. I always using this trick without signing stuff and it works. we just need to make sure that we're replace the ordinary file (not the .9 one) and put a picture with same resolution with the original one.
Exactly my thoughts. Resigning systems apps is a big NO. I already did it twice (SystemUI.apk) and I ended up with no statusbar. Good thing I had a backup.

Thats the reason I prefer flashing instead of manually replacing the files cuz then you dont need to set the permissions. Its good for lazy people like me

show us screen shots
when making a guide always post screenshots dude,
not just post words,
make it clarified and very detailed so that people reading this will not get lost,
also don't post for the sake of just putting it there,
you have a good title
but when people read this its not "easy"
try to put yourself in other people's shoes,
even i can't comprehend the output you put on this
no offence but make this better and stop posting threads that are useless
The easiest and foolproof method is to use Ninjamorph or metamorph app from market.I've modified tones of .pngs with them.
First open the apk with the app
Exit the app
Go to myfiles/Androidthemes/workspace/name-of-apk/res/
Then go to drawable ldpi
Take a look at all of the .png files
Find which .png you want to replace.
You should make your own pic with photoshop or anything to replace it with exact resolution and name
Store it in the sd-card
Open the app again
Go to Existing project/name-of-apk/res/drawable ldpi
Click on the .png you want to replace
App will ask you to replace it with some other .png
Navigate to the modified pic
It'll replace the .png
Then go back to homepage of app
Then click finish project
Tap on the apk name
App will ask you whether you want to replace the original apk
Do as you want
Reboot phone
Make a nandroid backup before everything. cheers

pushing it using adb is a more safer way, because if something goes wrong with forcing it to system then you can just repush the original system apk
you was replacing a running apk. there's no doubt it will give you FC message (lol). try your method to replace framework-res.apk or any system app/framework. b16h22 is right. your method is dangerous.

I found out how to do so and I'll be answering myself once more :
In order to add only the files you want to replace in a zip (or apk) sub-directory and choose what compression method used with 7-zip, we simply do as we do with flashable zips:
- you create a folder named "res" on your desktop;
- you crete a folder named "raw" on your desktop;
- you drag the folder "raw" into the "res" folder
- you choose the sound files [of your choice] [in wav format] and rename them to match which ever one(s) you want to replace in the apk and add them in that "raw" folder;
- you right-click on the "res" folder on your desktop and select: 7-zip/"Add to Archive..."
- you select you new Swiftkey apk (rename it first);
- you make sure that "Store" is selected in the "compression level" field;
[see pic - I've changed spacebar and normal key sound in that example]
- Re-sign the apk

Im just starting to learn how to modify/develop android apps.

Signing worked! fantastic.
Decided I wanted to change more of the sounds in swiftkey to have a couple more themes with the original one i modified so I went through the 7zip process described in an earlier thread, except this time when i did it it didnt replace the mp3 sound files in the apk with the waves I wanted to substitute. This time it just added the .wav(s) to the apk while leaving the .mp3(s) there along with them. seems wierd. I changed the names of the .wav(s) to the same as the ones i wanted to replace, right clicked folder and hit add to archive. Selected drop down menu and selected apk and made sure store was the option selected and zip was the method selected. No go. Any suggestions?
