Help with Cubot GT99. (problem with build.prop) - General Questions and Answers

So I rooted time ago my Cubot GT99 and it goes really good, but today, i edited the build.prop file and saved it. i did something wrong but i have a backup of the original build.prop at my computer. When i turn on my Cubot GT99, it never starts, it just stays at the screen of CUBOT. I just can go into the Factory menu and a kind of recovery that shows an android icon with an alert. If i connect the device to my computer, it doesn't recognise it, but if i go to factory menu (vol down + turn on button) it recognise it but i can't see any folder of the device at my computer. I've tried to do it with MyPhoneExplorer but it says "Can't connect to the device". I don't know where's the ROM or if it exists online but is just all about the build.prop file, if i just could put the backup there...
On the recovery menu i have the option to update from sd card. I have two options (i think) reflash the original ROM of Cubot (that i have no idea where it is) or make an update.zip file to try to replace that build.prop file. The problem is that i have no idea of how to do it. That's why i need help.
Greetings, Alberto.

I'm sorry. Perdonad.
Forgive me for my long time without any answers, in fact in any way i even don't remember i could fix it. I just remember i had to search and try so many things finding it on different posts to get an .img of Cubot GT99 and all the drivers for my pc. So, in the end i could boot it and inmediatly i made a CWM backup, to make sure i couldn't mess it all again. If someone needs help with this thing, i'll try to do something as i was in the same situation.

SM-S550TL Root Instructions

Finally, I have managed to achieve root on this device. Below is the instructions on how I managed to root. The below steps worked for me, but there is a possibility that they won't work for you, Im not 100% sure. They should though. This is for the SM-S550TL only. Also, this will void your warranty. Only Follow the below tutorial if you are comfortable with it, READ VERY CAREFULLY! I assume no responsibility for your actions, in any way, shape, or form. You try this at your own risk, That being said, here are the instructions:
SIDE NOTE: YOU CANNOT FLASH TWRP, IT WILL LOCK YOUR DEVICE WITH "THIS DEVICE HAS BEEN FLASHED WITH UNAUTHORIZED SOFTWARE" MESSAGE. DO NOT ATTEMPT! BE VERY CAREFUL AS WELL WITH WHAT YOU DO WITH THE ROOT ACCESS, UNLESS YOU ALREADY HAVE THE STOCK FIRMWARE FROM ANOTHER SOURCE AND CAN RESTORE WITH ODIN!
1. Flash the boot.tar with the lastest odin (download for odin not included). from the following link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-KfJE4M0My6VnFJNTBKZmJMdlE
It will change your SElinux mode to permissive.
2. You will need to find a way to disable or block all knox packages, (I had to use the paid samsung package disabler off google play). Another alternative is use the debloater tool, (google is your friend on how to find it). although you need to be careful if going this route on what you block, unless you have the stock firmware for flashing with odin.
3. Download The latest version of Kingroot and make sure your device is either plugged in or has a 50% or higher charge.
4. Run kingroot, If your device freezes, or goes to the "kernel panic upload mode", during the root process, DONT PANIC, Pull battery and reboot into the android os, It may take anywhere from 1-5 tries to get root, (at least this was my experience).
5. Again, I assume no responsibility for you actions, you try the above at your own risk. Enjoy being a root user if the above works for you!
it is working
thank you for your instruction, finally kicked the ass of tracfone
root verified.
Device rooted, used SuperSu-Me Pro to switch from KingRoot to SuperSu, all thanks go to hydroman202

Worked for me! Thanks a million @hydroman202 and @daryl2347!!!
Now that it's rooted has anybody tried flashing anything with FlashFire or Flashify? I'd be most interested in any method to get a Stock OpenGapps package on there to replace the Samsung/TouchWiz crap.
Man, I hate TracFone! De-Bloating, de-SIMlocking and de-TouchWizzing this baby ain't gonna be easy....
SM-S550TL Step-by-Step Rooting Instructions for N00bs
Building off the excellent work of @hydroman202 and @daryl2347, I have compiled these full, step-by-step SM-S550TL rooting instructions in plain English for n00bs.
00 If you have already experimented or pranked with your device and screwed something up, you need to reflash the stock firmware via Odin (read through these educational points whether you need them already or not!!!):
00.A Create a new folder on your Windows desktop and name it "SM-S550TL". This is where you will put all the files you download and use with this device.
00.B Download Odin3 v. v3.12.3 here. Unzip the folder inside into your SM-S550TL folder.
00.C Download the firmware here and unzip ALL_TFN_S550TLUDU1APG1_S550TLTFN1APG1_CL8482018_QB10267860_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 into your SM-S550TL folder.
00.D Run Odin AS ADMINISTRATOR (right-click > Run As Administrator).
00.E Start your SM-S550TL in Download Mode by simultaneously holding Volume-Down, Home, and Power buttons. When you get to the next screen, press Volume-Up. Now that you're in DL mode, plug your SM-S550TL into a USB port on the computer.
00.F When you see the device is connected (under ID:COM there will be a block that turns baby blue and say 0:[COMx] inside), press the AP button and navigate to your ALL_TFN_S550TLUDU1APG1_S550TLTFN1APG1_CL8482018_QB10267860_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5.
00.G Wait for the package to verify. When it's done, it will say "Leave CS" in the log. Press start. Wait for Odin to say "PASS!" The device will reboot. Exit Odin.
00.H Go through the device setup procedure: When signing into your Google account, do it slowly, waiting after each step. A pop-up will appear asking if you want Google to check for security threats, I strongly suggest you press Decline. (If you miss the pop-up during setup, you can turn this setting off in Settings>Google>Security>Scan device for security settings.) Skip setting up a Samsung account (unless you want loads of bloatware). Do not set up anything related to Knox, it will give you trouble later.
00.I Go into your device settings. Here take the following steps: Under Display, set the screen timeout to 10 minutes. Under Lockscreen and Security, enable Unknown Sources, then scroll down and go into Other Security Settings. Click Device Administrators, and disable (i.e. deactivate) Android Device Manager. Go back to your main Settings and scroll down to About Device, here find Build Number and tap it repeatedly until it says you have enabled Developer Options. Go back to the main Settings menu and under Developer Options, enable OEM Unlock and USB Debugging.
01 Download the the boot.tar file provided here, and save it in your SM-S550TL folder. Using Odin as per the procedure above, click AP and flash the boot.tar file. This will set your SElinux mode to permissive.
02 Download and install the Debloater Tool for Android by @gatesjunior from here on your Windows PC. Before doing anything, watch the video on that page. Run the program and I recommend you disable all the following before proceeding with the root procedure below:
ContainerAgent2.apk (com.sec.knox.containeragent2)
KLMSAgent.apk (com.samsung.klmsagent)
KnoxAppsUpdateAgent.apk (com.samsung.knox.appsupdateagent)
KnoxAttestationAgent.apk (com.sec.enterprise.knox.attestation)
KnoxBBCProvider.apk (com.samsung.android.bbc.fileprovider)
KnoxBluetooth.apk (com.sec.knox.bluetooth)
KnoxFolderContainer.apk (com.sec.knox.foldercontainer)
KnoxKeyguard.apk (com.samsung.knox.kss)
KnoxSetupWizardClient.apk (com.sec.knox.knoxsetupwizardclient)
KnoxShortcuts.apk (com.sec.knox.shortcutsms)
KnoxSwitcher.apk (com.sec.knox.switcher)
KnoxTrustAgent.apk (com.Samsung.knox.knoxtrustagent)
MyKNOXSetupWizard.apk (com.sec.enterprise.knox.myknoxsetupwizard)
RCPComponents.apk (com.samsung.knox.rep.components)
SecurityLogAgent.apk (com.samsung.android.securitylogagent)
SharedDeviceKeyguard.apk (com.sec.enterprise.knox.shareddevice.keyguard)
UniversalMDMClient.apk (com.sec.enterprise.knox.cloudmdm.smdms)
03 Download the latest KingRoot apk from here to your SM-S550TL device. Install it. Make sure your device is either plugged in or has a 50% or higher charge. Make sure you are connected to the internet through WiFi or mobile data. Run KingRoot and follow the instructions to do the root procedure. Be patient. If the device freezes, DON'T PANIC! Simply pull the battery and start KingRoot again. It may take several tries, but you'll eventually conquer it.
04 Once KingRoot says it has achieved root, go to Google Play and install Root Check by @jrummy16 here. Run it, grant supersu permission, and it should say the device is rooted and the superuser is KingRoot.
05 Cool, so far so good. Now go back to Google Play and install Super-Sume Pro by @gatesjunior from here. Run it, read carefully and follow the instructions. Once complete you will have installed SuperSu by Chainfire and uninstalled KingRoot (thanks, KingRoot, it's been good to know ya!).
06 Run Root Check by JRummy again. Now it should confirm that you have root via SuperSu. It might ask if you want to install BusyBox. It's up to you, JRummy is a reliable developer. But I recommend you go to optional step 07 below.
07 Optional: Go back to Google Play and install BusyBox by @Stericson (free or pro) and install the latest BusyBox.
08 If you follow these instructions perfectly, you'll be in business.... But it's your responsibility and yours alone if you mess it up. Don't blame us. :good:

All was well until I got to this point, I installed Super-Sume Pro and it just keeps saying "processing please wait". I then installed SuperSu from the playstore and was unable to get it to remove KingRoot. First time go with rooting, not sure what the hangup is. I've been able to do what I need to do, but I'd like to remove KingRoot if possible. Any thoughts?
Also, SuperSu won't update the binaries. I don't know if it's because KingRoot is still installed or not. RootCheck shows SuperSu as the primary root application. Again, kind of a noob with android.
Edit: noob figured it out...

How did you manage to solve it? I've done exactly the same as you but when trying to run Sumer-Sume for the first time, the window opens and closes not even after a second. It just don't stay open, automatically closes without letting me do anything.

Uninstall Super-Sume Pro. Re-download and install from the Play Store. Try again. If you didn't install it from the Play Store it won't work. Spend the 4 bucks.

Installing firmware on China tablet "Koslam" (spreadtrum sc7731G)

Dear All,
I just got this tablet and it´s got a bug with showing the correct battery reading, and wifi is not at its best. So the seller provided me with a firmware update, which is a rarfile with an xml file, a bin file and a ton of .img files in it, and it may at least solve the first problem.
Would anyone know how I can flash this file on my new tablet?
I already asked the seller, but he´s not coming back to me.
Thanks in advance!

Ok, finally done with it! Seller´s been supportive, but a bit slow. If someone should run into the same scenario as me, I´ll share my experiences:
You´ll need to use something called BeTools for this. Should there be any problems with the key file or the firmware generating an error message, it could be for one of the following the reasons:
1. File contains an illegal character (in western countries) and needs to be renamed
2. Files are on a network drive
3. File path to where files are is longer than what BeTools like
First, backup all your data. Everything will be erased, and if there´s an Sdcard in the tablet, it will no longer be readable after the upgrade hence a format of the same is necessary.
Once the firmware is loaded in BeTools, it´s important to understand that you´re not gonna enter into some nice recovery mode with a menu on the tablet. The tablet screen will look like it´s turned off, period. BeTools will ask you to connect the tablet via USB, and at this point all you need to do is turn off the tablet, and afterwards pressing vol down and hold it there while inserting the usb cable. NO holding power button at the same time! If it´s all good, the update will start where BeTools shows you the progress. I released the vol down when the progress bar started moving, and this seemed to be safe. Again, during the whole process, the tablet shows NO sign of life!
If the tablet is not seen by BeTools when you connect it, you´ll have to install this driver on your PC:
https://androidmtk.com/install-spreadtrum-usb-driver-manually. The last part took me days to figure out, since the Chinese support guy seemed not have had the need for installing that driver.
I´m not sure if the seller would want me to post the firmware plus key for BeTools, and I´m not sure if that key has anything to do with the tablet - I doubt it. I think it´s just for BeTools itself.
But if you need any of this, don´t hesitate to PM me and we´ll find a way to send it to you.
And btw, the battery reading is now correct
Hi thanks a lot. I have same issue in my koslam KL1071Z. How can i get the necessary files?

Question Update your asus rog 5 tencent / ww version easy and on the phone.

So ive been on this page for awhile trying to figure out how to update my Asus Rog 5 Tencent version which was sold to me with the worldwide edition already loaded on. I live in the usa and im on tmobile and everything works fine for me, except I dont get 5g.
Anyhow here is how I updated my phone without needing a computer or anything. I didnt see this posted so if it is, oh well, hopefully my search keywords help someone from google or on this group.
First step, Firmware download!
1. Go here https://rog.asus.com/phones/rog-phone-5-model/helpdesk_bios
(Hit the "SHOW ALL" button and you will see the WW edition) The stuff at the top is the newest. Just look for WW.
2. Literally download it to your phone (shocker), you may need to long press the download button and hit download link.
3. Once downloaded, open the app section and go to file manager | download folder.
4. Locate the zip file, long press it and a menu pops up then press move, now you will see "local storage and under it internal storage" tap internal storage icon and then it will want to confirm with you "ok" its kinda hidden very bottom right. Once you do that, you are literally done.
5. Now, reboot the phone, login and wait, you will soon see a notice to update the phone in about 60 seconds if not just wait longer, a notice will pop up. Now click update and after about 3 mins itll be fully installed and complete. Then it will reboot the phone again and tada, you are fully updated.
**I dont know if this will work for everyone or if my phone was already unlocked or not, however there is an unlock app on that same page, under driver and tools, I did run that first but not sure if it did anything. You may need to run that first, give it a shot, hope this helps, let me know. But crickey, was this so hard to find for me, hopefully I helped. Also for space saving you will want to go in and delete the file afterwards as it doesnt do it on its own.**
Take care people.
If you have WW installed, WW updates work with / without an unlocked bootloader. Asus openly posts the manual updates, but there will surely be people that could use a guide for it. Asus kinda hid theirs.
Root users should also make sure to launch Magisk and select the "Install to Inactive Slot" option before rebooting (but after the update completes) to avoid having to patch manually.
This should be pinned for the amount of people who have tencent versions.

I found all these things worked after the update. No word on Android 12 for our device yet. Maybe next year?
I followed the instructions but it says update failed, my phone currently has the 18.0840.2106.28 firmware.
I can unzip the file so it doesn't seem corrupted. Any idea why it won't update?
I heard that one version of software update cause the rog to lose it ability to connect to the wifi. Is anyone with tencent that have update software have any problem

IMEI and all other Android's network settings are stored in /EFS and/or /NVRAM partition. If you didn't backup this partition before flashing new OS you probably will have no luck, IMO.
Hello, (i don't speak english) i've found a possible solution, you have to delete: /mnt/vendor/nvdata/md/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI ... that's all .... plaase, first of all make a backup

first of all, you need super user permissions, then run this scripts in android terminal; you can do it on recovery, but you need to modify the lines, or copy and paste manually.
nvram /dev/block/mmcblk0p4
nvdata /dev/block/mmcblk0p26
efs /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sec_efs /dev/block/mmcblk0p2

if you want to know the partitions, check the A22_EUR_OPEN.pit file on CSC.md5; my favorite app for managing root directories is "MT manager".
name ---------- partition ------------------------------- directory
nvram ---------/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 -------/mnt/vendor/nvdata/md/NVRAM
nvdata --------/dev/block/mmcblk0p26 -----/mnt/vendor/nvdata
efs --------------/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 -------/mnt/vendor/efs
sec_efs -------/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 -------/efs
doy fe que con unlock tool en la opcion mtk le das a borrar nv y queda full
Mod translation via GT: I attest that with unlock tool in the mtk option you give it to delete nv and it remains full

no es necesario... solo con root, le das en borrar /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 (solo a22) que es la partición nvdata, y reiniciar "Fin de la historia" después volverá a tener Red, válido para el a22 y el a32 (revisar el pit)
Mod translation via GT: it is not necessary... only with root, you hit delete /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 (only a22) which is the nvdata partition, and restart "End of history" then you will have Red again, valid for a22 and a32 (check pit)

you neet root permissions to administrate internal file system; root your device with magisk 25.1, install magisk, and give root privileges to MT manager; then acces and modify all you want; .... if you don't have root privileges you won't be able to touch nvram nvdata
