No "Enter Network Lock Control Key" screen! - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I just bought a used AT&T Samsung NOTE 1.
The seller claimed it was unlocked which most probably it is not because it does not recognize any SIM other than an AT&T SIM.
This is not the issue, though. When I stick a T-Mobile sim in it it and turn it back on, it does not display "Enter Network Lock Control Key".
Is this a normal behavior or am I missing something?
Come to think of it, when I inserted two international sims the phone displayed the following message "sim not provisioned mm#2"
Thanks.

How to activate my Droid 2 Global?

I got my lovely droid 2 global (white) today, which is amazing. However, when I turned on the phone, it required me to activate. How can I activate it in Toronto, Canada without in US? Thanks.
Exit that wizard, switch to GSM/UMTS and you are ready to go (assuming you unlocked)
hi all,
i've been using my lovely Droid 2 Global outside US for quite a while (unlocked and using GSM network), and it worked all fine till today...
i tried to install fission today, and it didn't work for me (it just won't boot up), so i restore to 2.3.29, and finally managed to boot it up...
but after i power up, and enter PIN for my SIM, it requires me to Activate the phone...when i hit Activate, it immediately show "Phone Activation not supported on this network"...any suggestion on what i should do? i think i have the unlock code that i got from the buyer, but the phone doesn't even give me a chance to enter it!!!
i don't need to use Verizon network, i just want to use my D2G under GSM!! Please help!
i should have asked: why i need to re-activate again simply bcs i restore from a SBF??? I thought it shall stay as activated and unlocked once it was done...am i thinking wrongly?!
Don't freak up. Activation is only for CDMA radio. Every time you do factory restore (wipe data) CDMA programming gets erased too. GSM radio doesn't need activation. Simply ignore this, switch to GSM/UMTS mode and start using your phone.
If you have US account and you want to reactivate so you can use CDMA roaming feature, you need to do manual activation, but you may need Verizon's support to help you with some numbers you need to put up in programming.
BTW - the boot loop happened because you didn't wipe data after SBF. Fission (and any other non-stock ROM) will cause boot loop if you don't wipe data after SBF flash. (SBF flash process does not wipe data as part of the flashing).
GSM radio need to activate to use outside USA ! You need to contact with Verizon to get unlock code or use some unlock sim

You are mistaking unlocking with activation process. On GSM you activate the SIM card (Subscriber Identification Module), while on CDMA the "SIM" is integrated in the radio, hence you activate the radio.
For Droid 2 Global since it has essentially 2 radios - a GSM and a CDMA one, for GSM you need active SIM card to activate and for CDMA you need to make sure phone's MEID is active on your Verizon account then you program it (activte) either automatically while on Verizon network by dialling *228 or manually by calling Verizon support.
For the GSM radio in D2G, in order to use non-Verizon SIM in it, you need to unlock the phone first. Once unlocked, phone remains permanently unlocked and no SBF or wipe or anything will change this status.
Hey guys. I just bought an unlocked D2G on ebay so I thought I would share my experiences.
I got to the same screen where I was told "phone activation not supported on this network" and it was extremely frustrating. my only option was to hit ok and go back to the "touch the android" screen. I tried everything including the menu button. Nothing worked. This was with my SIM card inserted.
So I took out my SIM card and tried again. this time the menu button worked; it brought up the wireless options menu. I wanted to switch to "GSM only" as I had a feeling that would fix the problem. But I was told "no GSM card, must use CDMA mode". So, feeling stuck, I called Verizon, and after waiting on hold with the first CSR, and getting about 30 seconds into the phone call with the high up tech guy, I was in the middle of telling him about how in CDMA mode the wireless options menu would come up, but not with a SIM card inserted, the wireless options menu actually did come up. So I switched to "GSM only" and I was in!
Well, sorta. I had to get the phone linked with my google account via wifi, because the phone had no internet at all. A quick search of the internet revealed that this was a common problem - "I can talk on my D2G, but no data!" I called Rogers and sure enough, there were some settings I had to change to make this work.
Go into wireless options, then mobile network settings, then GSM/UMTS options (I assume you have a D2G because you want a droid you can put your SIM card in, right?) and then to Access Point Names. As this phone is unlocked, there are no APNs listed and your phone is neutered until one is added. I had no idea because my last phone was straight from Rogers and was of course hardwired to know this stuff.
Setting up the APN is really easy. just give it any name, list the APN as internet.com, MCC is 302, and MNC is 720. That's all. Back out. You will notice nothing is showing there. Don't do it again. It's there, but it's not showing up until you reboot. On my first reboot I had the 3G icon pop up in the notification bar and just about filled my pants. finally, the phone I paid $400 for was fully functional! No issues since then. Smooth as butter.
Thanks for the information and sharing leobg and seventieslord!
Gingerbread's rolling out, I'm planning to update my dad's D2G, but we're outside the US with an unlocked phone using GSM. I was worried after updating to Gingerbread, the phone would ask for a reactivation. This thread put my mind to rest

[Resolved] [Q] Is there a way to bypass simcard check on 4g lte android phone?

Is there any way to bypass simcard check on a a samsung admire 4g and use the cdma service only?
I have a samsung r820 that i bought second hand. The carrier is metro pcs. I don't have the micro sim that appears to have origianally come with the phone. I already unlocked the device to use with another carrier and flashed a new prl. the device didn't get service because the sim was missing so i installed an app named "switchit 4g lte toggle" from the market which allowed me to turn the the radio on. I have service now but i cant make any calls because a pop up window keeps appearing "insert Metro PCS SIM Emergency calls only" whenever I attempt to make a call. Is there any method to stop it from doing a sim card check or for it to think there is a sim card in it?
I already asked this question in the noob friendly section but i didn't get a response.
Update:
I bypassed sim check by glitching the phone. I used anycut to create a short cut to the activity labelled Attention. then I launch the shortcut and quickly slide the notification area downwards. it takes a few tries. the only inconvenience is something like a debug widget that stays on top of the homescreen. I now have service and the insert sim is off. hope this helps anyone that has the same problem.

[Q] Sim unlocking Galaxy S3 with missing network lock menu

Hi there, Im probably going to get a lot of replies telling me how easy this is but im stuck, so my friend brought over a 16gb Samsung galaxy s3 from America to New Zealand, where I currently am, the model number of the phone is SCH-I535 if that changes anything but okay when I put a 2degrees sim card in it (my current network provider) it doesnt work. Ive been told and attempted the service menu unlock method but putting in the code *#197328640# nothing happens but I was able to access the service menu by putting in the code *#0011# and that method worked but I was only able to get as far as clicking network lock option, when I click that it just comes up with a blank screen. Are there any other methods to sim unlock? Dont care how extensive it is or if it requires rooting and a computer just want to be able to use this phone with my sim and current network. Or if anyone has the fix to the blank screen after clicking network lock then thats great too. Please help, ive been trying to do this for so long now and just want this phone to work.
Thanks!

[Q] P907a sim not recognized

Having an issue with a newly picked up at&t P907a and looking for a little help.
Love the note pro but when I add a sim the pro recognizes that it has been inserted and a pop up asks to be restarted to connect to the network.
Once restarted it simply says 'no sim installed' and won't let me into the mobile networks part of the android settings to change any networks etc..
Running stock at&t as it has been factory reset.
I've been assured this pro is unlocked but starting to have my suspicious...
Anyone else come up against this?
Thanks.
Call AT&T or go on their website and do live chat, they will look up the IMEI and can unlock it for you.

Thanks Jargin,
So the issue I'm having is because the pro is not unlocked? Have you had the same issue with it saying no Sim installed?
I've been told that if you put in an unsupported Sim in one it will ask for an unlock code rather than just displaying no sim..
No after reboot my device asked for an unlock code. I would take it to a store, maybe someone entered too many won't pin codes, that can happen too.

My s6 is locked (UK)?

I purchased a S6 on EE a week ago. Has been working fine with an ee sim, however I have not made any calls or texts yet, just using the phone for Internet on wifi etc.
I have a regular three sim which I would like to use so I have trimmed it down with scissors and this made me cut part of the gold contact bit off (I read online this shouldnt affect the sim).
I'm guessing this phone is locked as when I insert the sim it detects a new sim has been inserted, it makes me restart too. Upon booting up however it says no sim card/ emergency calls only however I see a solid connection. I cannot make any calls as it says not registered to a network or something.
Now my question is that is the phone picking up the sim card? If yes why is it not prompting me with a sim unlock code screen? Secondly is my phone not detecting the sim card at all? Is that the reason why I am not prompted with a unlock code screen? All help is appreciated. Thank you.
Go onto settings, then onto Mobile Networks, then Network Operators, then Search Networks then click the Three carrier. It will take a few mins to search for all the networks so do not back out.
