[APP][4.0+][2013.09.11] GeoLog v0.50 - Android Apps and Games

GeoLog is a new kind of location tracker which changes tracking characteristics based on where you are and what you are doing.
On foot, you travel slower than by car, and you may not want to gather location data as often. If you're standing still, why track location at all - it's just a waste of power. If you're on a photo walk, you might only want to track location while walking, and not when doing anything else - like driving to the where the walk starts. When on a long trip, you may wish to use a less accurate low power tracking solution, while on a short trip you may prefer tracking as precisely as possible. This is all profile-based and highly configurable.
Based on Google's new fused location provider, it can determine when you are standing still, walking, cycling, or in a moving vehicle, and adjust tracking parameters accordingly. It will automatically switch between all methods of gathering location data (sensors, cell and Wi-Fi networks, GPS, etc) to give you the best location fix possible, within the parameters you set up.
The app currently supports exporting to GPX and KML formats, and has an extensive selection of export filters. GPX export files are tested against Lightroom, where KML export files are tested against Google Earth.
Apha / Experiment
This is an alpha release. It is already usable, but it's not yet feature complete. It has also not undergone rigorous testing on various Android versions yet, so expect issues. Reference/development device was an SGS3 running 4.2.
Furthermore, this whole thing is an experiment. I'm not sure how well this will work in reality. I have built it to track my whereabouts on a long trip far away, and seems to have worked rather well at that !
You will also probably need to adjust the profile presets to your personal preferences. Ultimately, I would like this to be good enough to just leave on 100% of the time!
Scary Permissions
This app requires location and activity permissions to track your location. It also needs to run at boot to start the tracking service (if enabled). Wakelocks are required to process the location data at the configured interval. External storage permissions are required to export your data.
I do not track anything you do or what you click. All personal data goes to the app internal database only, you are the only one with access to that information. Your information is not sent to me.
Source
GeoLog is open source, licensed as Apache v2. You can find the latest sources here: https://github.com/Chainfire/GeoLog . Note that a lot of what goes on under the hood is inside Google Play Services, which is closed source.
Download
You can get GeoLog at the Play Store

Changelogs
2013.09.11 - v0.50
Restructured and rewrote some of the code for the open sourcing of the app, this is simply a rebuild. There are no significant feature updates or bugfixes.
2013.07.21 - v0.40 ALPHA
- Inititial public release

Optimizing the use of all the sensors pertinent to location is an excellent idea.
I´ll start testing it right away.
Thanks

Been waiting for someone to make use of Google's new activity tracking api. If anyone can do it properly, it's you chain .
I look forward to what the future holds for this app. Testing now!

Intresting we r working on somethingsimilar

Another interesting app, not sure how much use ital be for me personally. But im sure i can i could find a way. Does it also consider other location sources or strictly GPS?
Edit: nm...i should read first, vn.

I'm very surprised the google folks that created "My Tracks" hasn't used the new APIs and fused location stuff yet within their app.

I still don't understand what exactly this app does.
does it make the entire phone use different location method for example Google map browser to use low power low accuracy, or the settings are just meant for geolog app only.

I think basically this app does is to give you a more accurate geolocation with added features than currently how google map track yours.

That's what I thought

Hi,
I used this app while taking a ship tour diving in the red sea.
It worked perfectly (I had only the GPS enabled) and by the time I got back at home, I was able to get a log of the different spots where I dived.
Thank you very much for this great app.
I now simply let it run in the background, and forget it.
And whenever I need to get the location of a place I was, the log are there!
Great!

Your favorite underrated app?

We all know the standard favorite apps...Nova Launcher, Lightflow, Tasker, Pulse, etc. What is an app that you like that doesn't get a lot of attention?
For me it would be Root Call Blocker Pro. With its google group filtering, I was able to go on a website listing lots of common spam numbers in my area code and add those to a google group on my laptop. Now I have about 80 such numbers blocked. I was also able to automatically direct all unknown or private callers to my voicemail.
Webkey. Lets you control everything on your Android from any PC. Even turns your phone access into a URL so no installation required on the controlling PC. Great for using it as a media device when someone doesn't have an integrated multimedia setup.

Profile Scheduler by Wetpalm, it's smaller and drain less resources then Lama. Scheduler is based on time table - no GPS locations but is free and extremely useful for someone having a fixed day by day routine.
Display orientator is very useful. It forces anything into landscape mode......

It might be a bit more useful if folks would include a link to the apps that are being mentioned. Because I'm bored at work and have nothing better to do, here are the apps that have been mentioned so far:
AirDroid
AlarmDroid
Smart Keyboard Pro
Awesome Wallpaper - as MissionImprobable pointed out, HOLY PERMISSIONS BATMAN!
SwipePad
gReader
Display orientator
Profile Scheduler
Screen Off and Lock
Webkey
CamScanner
TeamViewer
To this list, I would add:
AFV (Android File Verifier) - useful for verifying MD5/SHA-1 hashes of downloaded files
AIX Weather Widget - provides a great easy-to-read graph of forecasted temperature/precipitation for the next 24 hours
Network Monitor Mini - gives a customized overlay indicated current network traffic

[APP][1.6+] Sms Replier - Need Feedback

Hey, I recently released an app to Google Play and was wondering if you guys could help me out to test it and to give me feedback!
The app is called Sms Replier and it's a tool that can be used to send texts to people who call you while you're unable to get to your phone to answer(while you're in an exam, or playing a game of soccer, etc.). I know this idea has been done before, but I want to know whether you think it's worth it for me to keep working on it so as to add features which have not been done in any other app. Please let me know how well it performs/what things I should change about it, and please rate it on Google Play!
I am excited to get some real criticism from android users so that I can continue to make this app what I originally set out for it to be!
The app is completely free! Thank you in advance.
I like it! Simple, but I would love a widget.

Hey. Can the app send sms at a specific time? For example set it to send an sms to a contact at 2pm and when the clock becomes 2pm it sends the sms. Cz I'm looking for such a feature.

what would be good is to have either a widget to toggle on / off, permanent notification to enable access to the menu, or an idle / activity monitor like if phone left idle for x minutes then enable it; as soon as there's human activity then de-activate it (could be linked to the auto screen dim/off).
A very nice app, very useful for businesses. Out Of Office Reply
A great start! I would also like to add some suggestions (some may be repeats).
1. Widgets that you can add to turn on and off selected notifications.
2. Auto respond based on a pre-determined schedule.
3. Auto start on startup option (for scheduled events).
4. # appears over icon to notify user how many messages were replied to while away (like mail or missed call icon).
Keep up the great work!

as bigdog said those are very essential to complete this app.
first time i installed the app.. i was really surprised to see its simplicity really awesome
i would like to add some suggestions and doubts from mine sides too even though they may be repeated
some brainstorming got me to bring up these elements
1. sometimes there can just be miss calls.. you can add up timer like (send sms before ringer, on one ring, on two rings, or like if didnt pick the call at all will send an sms)
2. a status bar indicating that the sms replier with number of sms sent. [a widget would also be helpful]
3. then you can add some templates or profiles like driving, in class or let users create their profiles or templates.
4. there is one more thing that u can get access of contacts and just disconnect the unknown numbers[ofcourse getting the notification with number at our end] and donot sent them a reply in order to maintain the privacy and not let the unknown numbers know what you are upto.
5. and if i may add a option.. a counter to be set to ring if a same person is trying to call for more than two three times or in case of emergency
i will add more when it comes ...
Would be great if it could work on whatsapp!
The difference is that you don't need to click the template to send it when you're receiving the call. It sends automatically when a missed call is recorded. Sorry to assume, but it doesn't seem like you actually tried using the app at all.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
@saredev, does your app have feature that can exclude certain numbers from auto responding but they are in the contacts list. For example, notifications banks or credit card companies. These companies don't need to receive auto-response. I think you might have to check the number when it arrives whether it's a phone number or shortcode before auto-response. Or include a list of numbers from auto-response.

[APP]VIRGINMOBILE : MINUTES CHECKER apk FIXED

I Fixed this app because Jay Goel did not ! It is for all of us Virgin Mobile Users who like to keep tabs on the minutes used . Due to recent Changes by Virgin Mobile the app on the marketplace stopped working so i edited it with the proper log in information(changed www1 to www2 and it works perfectly again ! Pretty good for a person with little coding experience. I used apktool and then signed the compiled app . here it is and give me a thanks if you use it . Uninstall the broke one first !
I emailed Jay Goel several times but he did not respond or update his app so i did because i needed it .The only change i made was replaced WWW1 with WWW2 in WebsiteScraper.java then recompiled it with the easy instructions of apktool then used signapk and WALA ! Works 100% and i love to see mins used in a widget . Multiple account log ins all fixed by me .feb 20 2013
PLEASE UNINSTALL THE OLD VERSION BEFORE INSTALLING THE FIXED APK HERE. THANKS
Thanks so much! I was planning on doing just that when I got the time. I'm glad I procrastinated and let you do the heavy lifting.
The app doesn't seem to be reading the "Charged on" fields correctly. Any change you could mess around with that?
Thanks a ton!
My charged on field is showing the correct data. I have several accounts all on different days and it displays for example Charged on: Th/A/04
Set indicates Thursday, the 4th and on Automatic debit for next month April. A
Hope that helps..

Thanks for the reply. If you look at the pics on the play store, it looks like it should just be the date in mm/dd/yy format. I think it uses that to calculate how fast you are burning minutes and changes the color of the widget appropriately. It also uses that to make the black circle bar on the widget that represents the progress through the month.
These features aren't critical, so if you don't have the time to work on it, it's understandable. You have done us a great service fixing this app already!

Hi. No yes that was changed by another contributing developer. I like it this way it is as all the info in pie graphs plus widget s are accurate. I will update it again when the time comes it stops working again.. Enjoy

Amazing! I hinted my review over at the play store for folks to google for this
My charged on date isn't showing up either but that happened before even in the older versions. I actually wish someone could fork the project and add higher res widgets and implement the new code from the VM account that tracks the data limit usage. I know there are apps or ICS and up can track data usage but it's not accurate. With the new forked app you'd know exactly were you are in terms of data usage as VM sees it.
Happy to have this back though! :highfive:
Seems like "Virgin Mobile Minute Checker" author has not updated the app for a while. I contacted him with no success. Surprisingly, Virgin Mobile themselves also does not offer any app.
Ultimately, I have started working on my own version. It is in google's play store under name "Virgin Mobile Minutes" (it has "V" and "m" letters in logo). It is free for everyone to enjoy. It is missing a widget for now - I will add it soon.
I apoligize if that sounded like I am trying to advertise myself

Thanks for the fix. The old app stopped working a couple weeks ago when Virgin Mobile moved my account to their new system, and this update mostly works.
With this new version, my "Charged On:" field is blank, so the app doesn't know when my month starts/ends, and therefore, the green "days remaining" circle in the graphic and widget are missing: The graphics only show the red Minutes Used pie.
Please let me know if you need any additional info from me to help fix this issue (if you have time to fix it).
PS: I couldn't install this fixed version (it kept failing) until I uninstalled the old version.

[APP][4.0+]Backbone File Manager - Looking for Alpha testers

Hey everyone, I'm one of the developers of a new app called Backbone File Manager. It's open source and based on CM File Manager written by Jorge Ruesga.
My partner and I have been working a on a rewrite of this project for the past 10 months or so, and I think it’s finally ready for alpha testing. *We’re running things through the Play Store’s alpha/beta manager, so I’ve prepared the G+ community linked below for access management. *Interested testers can request an invite to the community and I’ll wave you in as quickly as possible.
What we're looking for
I’m particularly interested in device specific bugs/feedback and in discussions with folks about their workflows. *As you all know, many of the file manager apps out there aren’t very #HOLOYOLO and fail to provide a polished, standards-compliant experience. *Add that to the fact that managing files is inherently unintuitive and cumbersome, and you have a recipe for a bad experience. *I’m hoping to address this endemic deficiency with a more intuitive experience that simplifies common workflows.
Future Plans
We don’t yet have the features to stand toe-to-toe with apps like ES File Explorer or FX File Explorer yet, but Backbone is still pretty full featured (Root, Text Editor, Thumbnails, Usual goodies) and we’re continually working to implement more features like cloud access. *Rest assured, my partner and I are in this for the long haul - so you'll continue to see updates and improvements.
Once we work out enough of the bugs, we’ll move this into beta/production and implement a (tentative) price of $2.99, so get it now while it’s hot (and free)! *My plan is to continue running the alpha channel in parallel to the beta/production releases.
How to Join
I’m sure that many of you are familiar with the process already, but in order to download the app you have to:
1) Be a part of the community
2) Click on the link that says “Alpha test opt-in”
3) Click “Become a tester”
4) Click “Download Backbone File Manager Alpha from the Play Store” at the bottom of the page

When you say stuck, do you mean that it took a while to open? Did it eventually open? If it was just a delay, how long was it?
Just had a quick test and it looks good and feels smooth. I like it, will test more functions ttomorrow.

4) Click “Download Backbone File Manager Alpha from the Play Store” at the bottom of the page

here some logs from crashing,it seems that when i change to another storage and then back to previous the app is hanging up and does nothing anymore until i kill it or the message pops up the the app is not responding and must be stop, even if i change colors, after this i go out from the settings and open a folder the app stop working too until i kill it and restart.
Good file manager. Would like to have zip-viewer.
I can seem to get root access, to get to system flies, it's not asked once. Any ideas? It says it's in safe mode.
EDIT: I just had to click safe mode silly me haha, I now have root.
U
Xperia z stock 4.2.2 jb rooted
Bootloader locked
Edit: backbone just froze and forced closed On me after I just opened the app and did nothing.
Also when I try to copy a file from sd card to external usb it starts transferring but won't let you cancel it and I had to force close it. Is there any chance of implementing a bar or mb counter so we know how long is left On a transfer,

Quick Start camera, no miss the wonderful moments (Android APP)

Development of this program, individuals often have this problem because each use mobile phones to take something, should point the screen several times to open the Camera program, even try a few tools of the APP to speed shooting action, but are not expected.
This program is currently on top of Google Play, to have the same trouble with my Android users, be sure to try.
