[RECOVERY] OUDHS Recovery for Nexus 7 (2013-Wifi) - Nexus 7 (2013) Android Development

How to Flash:
UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER REQUIRED
Code:
fastboot flash recovery oudhs.img
Download:
Nexus 7 (2013-Wifi) ---
OUDHS 1.0.3.4 - Mirror 1
OUDHS 1.0.3.4 - Mirror 2
Source:
My Fork Github - Forked and modified, this is what I used to make this.
OUDHS Original Source Github
Thanks to:
Shabbypenguin and the rest of OUDHS for their work on this recovery for the Galaxy S4.
Koush for CWM.
Google for AOSP.
My testers.
OUDHS Recovery is my favorite on my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 and Shabbypenguin created it. This is a port with minimal changes for the Google Nexus 7 (2013). The controls are self-explanatory, and the reason why I love this Recovery over normal CWM or TWRP. Maybe you will too. You can get to Rainbow Mode by scrolling down the list a few times.
Confirmed Bugs:
ADB Access Not Working
If using SuperSu Root for 4.3, you will always see a "Disable Recovery Flash?" popup when you choose to Reboot. Always say No, or you will lose root until you flash the SuperSu Root through a Custom Recovery again.
Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6IOdVrrsVc

I loved this recov on my sgs4 very reliable and the scroll left and right to apply is very handy when you don't wanna click buttons .
I'll for sure try this once I get my unit delivered tomorrow .

Just rooted

Just rooted using the root 66 method. Worked great. Debloated a little bit but wanna try a custom Rom. I've read but can't seem to grasp how to flash roms yet. Can anyone offer some tips? Do you need adb or can you flash wherever ?
Edit mod please move this. I'm a moron who didn't pay attention sorry

Read the instructions on the rom you are flashing. Most times you use Clockworkmod Recovery i don't know if you go to clockworkmod with 3 button combo on galaxy S3 but yeah

If you want a kernel you have to use certain recoveries. So you can use kexec. There's more on that in original development.

Get ez-recovery, makes flashing different recoveries super easy. After flashing rom and setting up, go back to recovery and flash the kernal. That's what I did on synergy and imo's kernal. Beans v5 flashes it all at once. So far both run great with very good battery life.

Oh ok. So I just flash Rom then I'm good. On rezound you had to flash Rom, then the boot img. So it was two processes which is why I ask
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Yup. You should give imo's kernal a shot, works great. Its a 2 step on synergy, but still no problem. Just passed my rezound down to the wife. And of course as soon as I did, seems like new roms started crawling out of the woodwork. I put viper res on it, now she wont let me try out any of the others, no fun.

If you flash any CM10 based ROM's you will have to do some extra steps. IMO you should just start off with Touch Wiz based ROMS so all you need to do is flash from your SD once and reboot.
This is a better place to talk about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709There is also LOTS of "HOW TO" stuff there that should get you going.

How to submit a bug.
When you submit a bug you want to make sure that nothing from your side is causing it.
Otherwise I might be hunting a bug which doesn't really exist.
The best way to achieve this is by doing the following.
Make a nandroid backup.
Perform a full wipe (factory reset + wipe /system)
Now we have two different ways depending on what kind of problem do you're having.
--When you're having a problem with a ROM function flash just the ROM without GAPPS etc. and boot back into the system. You will boot directly onto the homescreen.
--When you're having a problem with a 3rd party app in combination with our ROM then flash the ROM and GAPPS.
Boot now back into the system. You will boot to the setup wizard.
Log in to your Google account but make sure that you untick "Restore from my Google Account to this phone/tablet".
Finish the setup and open the playstore and download only the app you're having problems with.
Start a logcat recording and reproduce the bug (if possible more than once) while taking the logcat. If you don't know how to get a logcat read this tutorial or this.
Post the logcat in a txt file or on pastebin (this is important because you otherwise clog up the threads with your log) in the correct thread.
Please also write detailed how we can reproduce the bug.
Restore your backup from point 1 and wait for a fix (don't ask for ETAs).
Thank you I was trying to port carbon to the og EVO but wasn't working out I been wanting to run it ever since I ran it on my galaxy tab 2

FYI, installed A2SD, HammerSlammer, maxwoz GPS fix, and gapps 4.2.2 version at same time I flashed the rom. So far everything is running as expected. Haven't had much chance to play with it, but I'm sure someone is going to ask about your kernel and a2sd. Now to go finish chopping wood.
Very nice. Been running this off & on, on my Note 2 for months. Still running the copy for the evo that you sent me Eric, & it was awesome. Thank you.

What's up guys... I noticed a link to the Candy Shop here but it links to the N72013 tablet thread... I would recommend using the mods from the Candy shop phone threads instead..
The tablet folders and img sizes are ailttle diff then phones...here is a link to the N4 Candy shop

Use a gapps or MotoX compatible zip to edify with. And that should be it... Enjoi I can also port a thread over there if there is enough interest...

It is compiled from official cm-10.2 sources
So, I assume it is safe, just as stock CWM can be
It flashed fine and seems to accept regular backups. The interface is sweet looking. I like it. Way better than the previous bare bones one, as far as looks go. As soon as I find a new ROM to flash I'll give it whirl. Good job dude.

I'm a bit leery of the fact that it is based on 10.2 sources. I'm on 11.0, and while CWM 6.0.3.7 is very painful to use from a UI perspective, it has always worked, so I don't want to mess with my partitions unless I know it supports 4.4.

cm-10.2 recoveries are way more stable than yet experimental cm11 branch
You can wait next year when cm-11 recoveries are fully stable, but then you'll even have to wait for cm12 :cyclops:

This is my point. Will PhilZ recovery properly write partitions? Specifically /data, as I believe that is the problematic one due to SELinux.

1- Read the few pages of the thread
2- This is based on celox, and all celox based devices I support do work perfectly
3- Either test and report or watch the thread and wait without cluttering it with useless comments
4- Ask in FAQ if you are impatient to wait for others to test it for you
Sorry, monitoring +70 threads for support/feedback. If I have to refresh them all just for useless comments, I am wasting my time

I'll make our position clear on that statement. We recommend a specific recovery so that we can rule out certain items when debugging issues, that is all. We are not making a recommendation based on "what is the best recovery available", it is a consistency decision that helps us when issues arise related to the file system, flashing, etc.
@Phil3759 - thanks for building this for the skyrocket.
I installed the new cm11 nightly with 0 problems. Went just like it should. Just FYI

I just got Hashcode to help me out with the /system format thing and as for the /cache issue, apparently I was being too impatient. It seems to work fine.
I will fix and publish tomorrow.

There's something most developers don't offer. Good for you

Well, I've been to hell and back with my Kindle and experienced almost every single type of brick there is. The only one I haven't had is a brick in which the bootloader is overwritten with an incorrect/corrupt image (resulting in a hard brick and not fixable at the moment).

The recovery works great and I greatly appreciate your efforts but, the menu is so tiny compared to the size of the screen. Is there a way to make it bigger? Also, the volume buttons are so awkward to use. I know that's not really something you can change but, its a thought.

I think you can partially control it via touch (EDIT: Nevermind), but when I tried to look for how to build cwm-touch, I couldn't find it. I think I actually prefer it like this, though, because, have you seen it install a nightly automatically? It looks beautiful & minimalistic.

I have not, yet but, i will tomorrow, prolly. But, the touch doesn't matter too much its the tiny font on the huge screen that, if I could just get it a little bigger, i dunno.

Because I haven't noticed any *very significant* changes between now and then. I can do a fresh build in a few days if you want --- my internet is out.
