[ROM][4.3][EXPERIMENTAL] CyanogenMod 10.2 - Asus Transformer TF700

*** This will be a one time build and post before nightlies start, so you can enjoy 10.2 for a bit until it goes live. ***
1. Make sure you are on the ASUS 4.2 bootloader
2. Make sure you are using TWRP 2.5 or greater or CWM 6.0.3.x
3. Download the ROM here md5: dfae3ea0caac535f15cdb2daea82c585
4. Download the 4.3 gapps here md5: c34cc1d0d8f7209feed07a6af308405e
5. Make a backup before proceeding, you are heading into experimental territory.
5. Install CM, then flash gapps.
6. Reboot
I won't be monitoring this much, as for bugs etc, so feel free to help each other here.
*** Please do not file bugs or report bugs, for both this ROM or against apps that may force close, etc to Play Store developers. ***
Known issue(s):
1. Can't install Chrome Beta from the market (due to some selinux whitelist issues)
2. Some apps are not up to snuff yet with 4.3, they crash.
3. You may need to re-install some of your Google Apps installed from the market if you don't wipe the tablet out.
4. Netflix doesn't play video in HD, it will continue to play sound and subtitles, but video will freeze at the last moment it was in SD resolution.
5. Secondary user profile issues.
6. You tell each other!
ENJOY!

Thanks downloading now, this will compliment CM10.2 on my HTC one

it boots and so far works fine

Yeah, everything works except for a few bugs.

Was just going to ask if you had plans for 10.2 and here it is. Down loading now.

I plan to go as far as the h/w will let us go.

The md5 is different on goo?
The MD5 on goo.im is the same as what I downloaded. Running very smooth.

Thanks for the work! Seems to run great for me now that I'm using your repo for the vendor binaries. Much obliged.

will this also be the official gapps for the device or it'll be whatever rootzwiki is putting out? would be nice to remove apps freely available on playstore (example: gmail and maybe others)
thanks for reading.

So far other than some lag here and there this is strangely the best ROM I have used on this device

Was wondering when this was coming.
Thanks again for all the work to keep our tablets current and relevant!

Just finished flashing this new ROM, but I couldn't get superuser permissions in any app.
The root problem is a headache in 4.3, our fantastic devs will surely find a way to get over that problem.
Thanks.

Try this, go to settings and enter developer options, then look for the tab that says Root access, select apps and ADB. Reboot and check for root.

I've flashed the 07-30 build, it's the same as in the op's link for the ROMS.
I tried all root apps that I have couldn't get superuser permissions in any.
But I didn't uninstalled them maybe that was why I had the problem.
Actually the ROM is very good for an experimental.
Thanks man, you're the best.

OK, I'll flash the ROM again and going to do as you suggest.
EDIT:
Your advice worked great.
Now start a new tour, Android 4.3.
Thanks.

I cant wait to Flash this. Android 4.3's TRIM support should really help reduce the constant lag that often makes our Transformers completely unusable most of the time. Mine has been sitting at home running the boinic application for the past week as I cant even type out an email without the lag.

This is for you Titanium Backup users. I would not restore data, this is a new version of android.
For TiBu fix
Go: menu > preferences > backup folder location
Click: Detect > Whole Device
Change location to "/storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup"
(if you have no backups saved to SD, hit Back nav key until you can select this directory manually)
IF asked if you'd like to move files to new directory, select NO
You then can restore apps.
On TiBu's Twitter they released a beta which supposedly fixes inability to uninstall apps via TiBu, but I haven't tested this

You should try it yourself, make a backup in case that hdmi doesn't work but if it does you stay in Android 4.3.
I'm feeling it a little bit smoother than CM 10.1 not a single FC or random reboot on latest version.

[Q] paulburton ICS port

So great to see another update with many bug fixes, I notice one of them is better suspend outcome, in your known issues post you state:
"Sometimes wakes from suspend by itself (usually when suspending via the screen timeout)"
Does shutting off the screen manually still result in it occasionally waking too ?
Also Wifi, does that break no matter how it suspends, manually or timeout ?
Cheers
Yes and yes to both questions
Just it seems that the nvidia ventana drivers work quite well because the build is smoother than before
I'm impressed with this build, the setup is smoother, the gApps work for the most part, i am tinkering with SD card mount currently to see if I can fix it

Have you tried to reinstall the app on ICS yet? Alot of the apps that I have on HC usually run on ICS. I'm not sure if that particular one will install though. You may have to run it through a deodex, and try to install it via adb.
Did you find the workaround for the Wifi glitch stable?

up and running no problem, booted back into recovery fine, everything seems smooth. quite happy to run with this as i only use my tf for creating sigs and browsing the web / listening to music. Trying to find a screen capture app that works on this so i can show it off but the one i used took a capture and instead of the rom build details i got a recovery type screen but the writting was in green. kinda cool but obviously of no use lol
only question for me is: can future ics based roms just be flashed via recovery as normal?
i can jump back to h/c based roms from ics on my sgs2 via recovery no problems but im aware of hardware differences etc.
all apps from titanium backup running fine for me.

If you are already at ICS then yes, unless Paul or whomever decides that it's better to wipe first. Just remember, the TF doesn't flash the kernel (luna, spelling-- he he he) so you have to flash it separately to get back to HC. Otherwise a good nandroid should work just fine to return.

im wondering....since the xoom and galaxy tab both share many features as the tf101, and the xoom and gtab both have stable cm9 builds... would we be able to "steal" some parts from those roms and make a port or something?

Asus Filemanager on ASOP Roms

I think Asus File Manager is the best file manager out there its very useful and fit well with the transformer functionalities. i dont think any other file manager out there come even close to it.
Is it Possible to run Asus stock File Manager on ASOP ROMS. I tried pushing the apk and some libs from stock roms on to cm9 roms but file manager get an FC when opening. I think its integrated much more deep into the ROM than i thought.
may be the devs working on asop rom can help to get it working on cm9 or other asop roms since its an popular request
BTW im running Megatron 1.01, its an great rom very smooth and functional and also has working 3g dongle drivers. i myself Huawei E173 which works perfectly. only thing i find missing is the asus file mannger.

I applaud your unbridled optimism Sir.
ASUS hinted at this yesterday on FB. Their post "When Mr. Jellybean is in the office, it means something good is coming."

I've learned from the TF101 ICS update - be careful what you wish for!!! For those that don't know, my (and others) TF101 has basically become very un-reliable since they introduced ICS.
While I truly *hope* we don't have such issues with the Jelly Bean upgrade, I certainly don't have a lot of confidence in Asus at this point.
I just hope that they don't rush it and test it properly before releasing it and forcing the upgrade on us (which is exactly what they did with the ICS update on the TF101).
I do know that my TF700 has some of the same ICS issues that the TF101 had (OpenGL out of memory errors, for example, which causes your launcher to go "blank")....

Great! Very exciting news to wake up to!
When Firmware actually starts dropping DON'T FORGET TO!!
*Side load your FLASH PLAYER. If you want flash. It will no longer show up in the Playstore any longer
*Revert back whatever modding/altering to system files just in case Rooters. Only if you want your OTAS to actually complete. Or if running a custom rom it wouldn't work anyways as you already know.
*Don't forget to backup your Root with Voodoo Ota Rootkeeper! You will definitely lose root if you don't
Time to obsessively check every 5 minutes for the update!!!

*sighs* I want all my devices to run Jellybean today, here is to hoping it will happen.
As I'd normally recommend rooting myself, I don't think it's necessary in this case. Why not just install .apk with Flash after allowing unknown sources? I believe it should suffice, although I don't know if it's any different with the JB system of permissions.
No need to root to install Flash on Jelly Bean. At least not on the Nexus 7.

I can confirm - my father just bought a Nexus 7 - I emailed the Flash app to him and he was able to install it and it worked without any rooting or anything.
He used Boat Browser (per my recommendation) - not sure about other browsers, but I assume it work with all expect for Chrome, of course...

Everyone remember to backup the files created by titanium backup themselves to a removable SD card or your PC.
As for JB, I am not sure we can expect it for the TF700 right away ... the TF300 is so similar to the nexus 7, I'm sure they only slightly modified their nexus 7 kernel.

THelook and feel of JB is for the most part similiar to ICS.
Their are some differences you will notice:
Animations: Some new and smooth animations that are nice. Animationa arre a minor thing but add a nice touch.
Project butter: My tablet does seem to run smoother and I have yet to have a wait/close prompt pop up. Of course I may get some, but so far it seem to have improved in that dept.
Google Now & search: This is what I wanted most. I really like the voice search, it really fast with returning answers. I wish I did a few more thens like open apps and tell me my next apointment when asked, bt I'm sure that will come with future updates. Google Now is prety neat and I'm interesting in seeing how it starts to work once I have had it a while and it can develop some patterns and give me info based off what it believes is relavent for me.
This is just an initial impression is I just updated last night and haven't really got much day to day expierance with JB, but so far so good. So far I don't really see the down side. You gain a few things and don't really lose much. Unless you have a particular app that dosen't play well wih JB yet.
Can't wait to get jellybean but I'll wait patiently for it

You can flash anything, doesn't mean you'll be successful. The current recoveries can't support this due to different boot and kernel mods. The guys are currently trying get a fix for those on OTA JB and all. I would say sit tight and wait for conformation that Twrp or cmw can backup and restore boot from diff firmwares. I tried this and got stuck at Asus logo and couldn't boot into os. But was able to get official JB back up. So now I'm stuck on JB for now.

Settings tab forces close when accessing storage

I am running AOKP JB Milestone 1 with TWRP recovery and KATKernel #56d_lidpatch on my TF101 (just for some background). I have just had a weird bug pop up where when I attempt to access the storage section in the settings it forces the settings to close. This happened right after I was having issues with the tablet being able to read the SD card in the dock. I do not recall this happening before, but to be completely honest, I might just never have tried to access this section before while using this particular ROM. I did a reboot and removed the tablet from the dock, but none of this seemed to help. While this is a minor inconvenience and not a huge deal, but I would still like to get this worked out. I have had zero issues with this ROM since flashing the KATKernel, so I am not sure what is going on. Any help or advice that anyone could give me would be great, thanks folks.

Oh well, without the KATKernel the WiFi connection using the AOKP ROM is terrible (it usually drops every two minutes or so). With the KATKernel everything works beautifully...except for the ability to check the storage in the settings tab. I guess I'll just deal with that, it's a trade off that I am willing to make.

Use different ROM like CM10 or paranoid port...

CM10 was the first ROM that I tried, I didn't like it. I really like the AOKP ROM and if this is my only issue then I am willing to deal with it and hope for a fix with the next update. This is the first time since getting the Tf101 that I have had almost no issues, so I guess I am willing to stick it out if there is currently no fix or kernel that will solve my problem.
