Hi,
This topic is to share experiences using VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) with an Android Tablet.
I'm currently thinking about using it at home to replace my corp laptop.
But the problem is that I use several apps that are not available on Android.
So I'm looking for a solution that would give me access to a Windows machine and would also be user friendly.
Tried with RDP connection but in my opinion touch gestures are not very well handled by the remote machine (maybe by using a windows 8 machine?)
Had a look on VMHorizon as I also own an ESXi server, but rather expensive and the architecture to install seems to be quite complex.
What is your experience with this kind of solution? What would you recommend?
Thanks for sharing

Hello all!
I've been playing around with the idea of using my Transformer as a mobile workstation for my job as a HelpDesk tech. However, our web-based ticketing system is heavily Java-based, and I've found that some features do not render correctly in the 3.0 sock browser or in Firefox mobile. We are thinking of moving towards tablets for our techs in the field, but this might be a dealbreaker in that department. Any suggestions?
Out of curiosity, are you using Liveperson?
I was able to get it to work via Citrix on my Droid X at one point, so I see it being possible on the tranny as well.
We're using EverythingHelpdesk, actually. What was your setup that allowed you to work through Citrix on your Droid?

I was trying to find the same thing as my company uses Hoblink jwt to VPN in via java. Unfortunately, I never got it to work.
I recently picked up a TF and really like it so far. I have been using connectbot on my phone for making ssh connections, but this app doesn't format itself well for tablets.
Anyone have a favorite ssh client that works well on tablet sized screens?

I like ConnectBot on the TF - only gripe I have with it is it handling of the shift-key, mainly because of the keyboard dock being able to sort out shift-key without having a "sticky shift" key functionality offered to phones.
Anyone else using a different ssh client?
I'd probably be happy with connectbot if it supported landscape.

I use better terminal pro. It seems to work well with the tablet form factor as well as with the keyboard dock.

It does support landscape, check rotation mode under settings

+1 for connectbot with hackers keyboard works phenomenal
I've looked about, I guess all the techies use PCs and such. Just feeling out if anyone knows a legitimately free remote desktop

I'm fairly certain the remote desktop protocol in newer MacOS revisions is based on VNC.

it is. that being said, i tried to set up android vnc viewer to work with my infuse/macbook pro running lion, and it made my computer go nuts.
even when i wasn't using the app, it ate up all of my system resources. it made my computer pretty much unresponsive, and it made my computer heat up to 200+ degrees F. this persisted through several reboots. i still cannot pinpont how i fixed it, but eventually i was able to get the computer back to normal.
haven't been brave enough to try again.
Yikes! Mac is not fun for interfacing with my infuse. I guess Ill just keep em apart. Thanks for the feed backĀ”

Hello All,
I am a high school math teacher considering the purchase of this for classroom usage. My goal is to wirelessly connect to my desktop PC and run my windows software from the tablet (using Jump Desktop or something similar). I will be controlling a program called SMART Notebook. My question is this: the only reason I really want this tablet over many others is the accuracy of the S Pen, which will be awesome for writing equations and such. However, will the S Pen even work while using those remote desktop control apps? I've heard people say it only works for a hand full of apps. If this is true, I would not purchase this tablet. Other tablets just are so unresponsive with styli that I've tried. It's very frustrating. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

In case this is a tl;dr situation:
Will the S pen function smoothly and accurately in an app such as Jump Desktop or any other app where you remote access a PC?

U do know that the s note app automatically does math formulas and equations. Actually works pretty cool. Just to play around I wrote up a bunch of fake equations and it figured it out

Somehow i think you unresponsiveness issue is not coming from tablet itself but the network you used to connect both device... if that's the case note 10.1 wont be any help either...

I was testing the tablets with no network connection. I was just testing the accuracy of writing with various styli on various tablets. I didn't have an opportunity to try the whole PC remote control setup in the store.
Is it just me? Do I suck at using styli? Haha. I couldn't get things to write correctly. It would always miss spots in my numbers and stuff. As if you're writing in pen and it is running out of ink.

Is there an app/software for Windows 8.1, similar to the application protection app on Android, which asks for a password every time an app is opened? I have looked at winguard pro and the likes, but I would prefer to use an app instead of a regular software.
I am liking my surface pro 2, but the lack of decent apps is crippling. Not sure why Microsoft has not been able to rally major developers to develop for Windows phones and tablets.

Currently I do not know of such a software and its certainly not possible using the basic app api's available... Since you have the pro in theory someone could write one but none currently exist.
