[Q] How would I put stock email on custom rom - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

I love love love the stock motorola email app. Would it be possible to take that and put it in place of the email app on my custom rom? I am running liquidsmooth jb 2.8 official on 4.2.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try to pull it and try classic sideload install. Probably will fail because it is odexed in which case you can try to place both the apk and it's odex in /data/app or /system/app
But I'm not sure if it'll work, erhaps there are some moto dependencies.

Whoops! I need stock mms.apk

Hello,
I was trying to replace the touchwiz mms application with an AOSP mms. Something went wrong and of course I forgot to back up my original mms.apk. I have tried to install AOSP mms.apk's off the forum but I can not get any of them to work. I am putting them in the correct directory and the permission are rw-r-r but still whenever I click the messaging icon the phone just vibrates once and then force closes. Could someone please post preferably the AOSP mms.apk that will work on the GS4G or if not that one just the stock mms.apk that came with the GS4G. Also, any tips on how to get it to work would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks as always!
What firmware version are you running? And are you running the Odexed or DeOdexed version?
Here's stock samsung KC1 deodexed version if thats what you need.
I am running stock, rooted kd1. I should just be able to drop the.apk in the app directory, right?

I just dropped this one in and it works, thanks a ton! Now that I have mms back, does anyone know of an AOSP mms.apk that works with this build?

[Q] Stock calendar apk

Hello all. I appreciate all of the custom roms out there. I agree withe the fact that the touchwiz ui uses garish colors, but the additions actually tend to improve on android's functionality, unlike other skins lime motoblur. Does anyone have a copy of the stock calendar apk. It seems that gummy rom got rid of it and all the roms based on gummy don't have it. I would really appreciate it.
I would like it as well. Would some one be kind enough to post it and tell how to install it?
I like the stock calendar as well.
+1

I can attach the apk's from the deodexed EE4 version...but I dont know how to install them correctly. I keep trying to get them to work but have no clue. If someone can get them to work please let me know?
I have tried deleting the original apk's via root explorer and putting these in there place with no luck
I wish I had a way to install this. I really prefer it.
oops, I thought the op was asking for the aosp version

Are you sure that it is the stock calendar? I have the latest GummyCharged but still can not find the stock calendar in the apps.

I just copied the apps you have posted in the system/app folder and they work. My Calender now finally syncs with gummy chccharged 1.9.1.
Thanks for posting the apps.

[Q] Sprint SGS3 Jelly Bean, lost stock email app! I want it back...

Hey All,
I have a Sprint SGS3, rooted. I installed the Touchwiz Jelly Bean Leak 4.1.1 per qbKing77's instructions found on Youtube.
I used his links for all files. The install went incredibly smoothly and I am loving the improvements, but there was one problem that is really starting to bug me. I lost the stock SGS3 Touchwiz email app. It was no longer installed on the phone after initial reboot with Jelly Bean. I am actually quite fond of that app, and quite unhappy with K-9 and alternatives. I want the stock app back!!
I have found a .zip with all the stock apps, including the Email app, but I receive errors trying to install it. I have seen no other users experience the same loss of this app, so I am at a loss. And don't really know what I am doing, evidently.
Can someone help me get the stock Email app back on my SGS3? And/or help me figure out why I lost it in the first place?
Thanks!
(Note: I cannot post links and cannot post in appropriate forum as I have zero posts!)
could outspL

Is there any chance of getting this moved to a developer forum?

This post doesn't need to be in a Dev forum as it has absolutely nothing to do with Development. It could be better in your device's Q&A forum though. It may be that the Dev actually excluded the Stock email app from his ROM - are the rest of the Touchwiz apps in there, or is it stripped of all TouchWiz?
Hi, I would download a stock ROM for your phone. Then extract it on your computer. Inside the app folder, there should be an email.apk or something similar somewhere. From there put the .apk file in your new ROM's app folder without unzipping it, I would use winrar.
I have found the email.apk from the .zip of SGS3 stock apps I found. I get an error when trying to install it though. Any idea?

Did you move it to the system/app folder using a root browser?
The reason it won't work is because you need the Touchwiz framework in order for the app to function, which isn't going to happen because Touchwiz is owned by Samsung and not open source. Basically, if you want to use Touchwiz apps you need to be on a Touchwiz rom

As per the question I asked the OP two days ago which he didn't bother to answer :banghead:

[Q] How to use stock Gingerbread apps with AOKP Jelly Bean?

Hello,
I am using an unofficial AOKP JB build (25 Nov 2012), and it works quite well. However, some stock apps on it are not to my tasting (e.g., phone, contacts, etc). I really liked the feel and look of those apps in good old Gingerbread. Is there any way I could install/use them in AOKP JB? As far as I know, the stock GB is odexed, and the AOKP JB is deodexed, so it is impossible just to swap the apps in /system/app.
I would appreciate any suggestions or comments. Thank you.

Depends - some of the touchwiz-specific ones will require edits to framework (and maybe services) and likely a few other places to retain full functionality. Were such edits in place you could then drop in (as AOKP is deodexed) any of the deodexed system apps (I would rexommend pulling them from the stock ICS build myself) into /system/app - there's a zip full of said deodexed apps in the Tweaked OP (1.x has GB ones, 2.x has ICS ones) if you get to that point.
I tried to use apps from stock deodexed 2.3.6, but it did not work. Do you think I will have more luck with apps from stock deodexed ICS? Do I just put deodexed *.apk in /system/app or there is more to it? At what stage are binaries and other relevant files created from apk? Thanks!

More luck... most likely. The issue will be when the new-to-AOKP apk starts calling methods that don't exist in the jellybean-based framework - it will likely be an iterative process of try it, fail but get a logcat, see why it failed, try to track down what was missing from a tw framework, throw it in the aokp framework, and try again - and then lather rinse repeat. And that is all assuming no hiccups hit along the way, which never seems to be the case. While it sounds pretty labor-intensive, and will likely make you want to pull your hair out, it can be pretty fun trying to figure it all out. Good luck!

Can i have inverts on stock jelly bean?

guys i need help, i have stock jelly bean 4.1.1 on my nexus s, and i wanted to have that black bean or inverted messaging, contacts and calendar for my phone, i tried using someone's help and i ended up restoring my phone twice, once i replaced the original one and then used twrp to flash it, but everytime it said messaging has stopped unfortunately need help regarding this please, if someone can help me get a few pointers how to replace my apps with inverted ones, hurts my eyes too since i have weak eyes
PS yes i'm rooted
Why don't you just flash blackbean or some other 4.2.2 rom that supports dark-toggled gapps and system apps? What's hindering you?

well because they're not probably as stable as the stock rom? is what i've read probably ... if it is then i'll give it a go, and i have twrp by the way, it's the easiest to work with in my opinion, can it be done using twrp? i've had bad experience with cwm
