Hello everyone! First off I apologize if this has been covered or if this is not in the correct location. Feel free to move Mods.
I have a att Htc OneX on 4.0.4 HTC sense . Phone is Unlocked.
I am having issues with the 4g speeds. I can not find solid APN settings that will make the 4g actually feel as if it were 4g. Service is very very slow. Since H2O is basically AT&T I don't see why I am having these issues. Any help would be great!
I have attached 2 Screenshots of the settings I was about to find that has been working for MMS and Internet but speeds draaaaaggggg!!!
Thanks!
Being "basically" att, and actually being att are two very different things. Are you absolutely sure h2o get the same days speeds as att? They are a MVNO after all, and offering unlimited data at pricing that's even better than att. There's gotta be a sacrifice somewhere there.

Yes they do. Not LTE but fast enough for second hand service.
Have you contacted the carrier?

By the way I've just been reading up on h2o and I see nothing but terrible reviews. Might be time to switch.

Thats what im getting for 4g service.
That's pathetic. Time to change carriers. Or at least call them and find out why it's like that.

I've had the s3 since it came out and I've always had crappy signal compared to my droid charge. At first I thought it was a crappy modem but the more I try to get better signal the more I get confused @[email protected] I live 4 miles away from a vzw tower. Outside my home I get 2-3 bars but if I just walk 100 ft towards the tower I get a solid 3-4 . Another problem I've been having is that I'll have 2 bars on 3g and it will switch to 1x until I turn data off and on. I thought as long as I had some signal it would stay at 3g; 2 bars is decent strength right?. I was just wondering if anyone else is having similar issues or has any idea what's wrong.

I've commented in a ton if these types of threads. There's a lot of these types of problems. Look through my comment history and you'll find most of them.
Also, please call and file a complaint with Verizon and Samsung. I know its time out of your day but they are refusing to admit this as an issue (at least to me) but for the sake of all those having problems, please make your voice heard.

I'm really irritated! I was out with my friend, in a great 4G area, and her crappy (2-year-old) LG whatever it is Virgin Mobile 3G was pulling up information about theaters and movie time MUCH faster than my S3!

I just got off the phone with a CSR. She said that if I dialed *228 then I probably messed up my sim card. She told me to go into a Verizon store to get a free sim card.
I didn't know that pulling the battery updates roaming capabilities.

must be a network issue in certain areas...my signal and data is great! Never see LTE speeds less 10mb, normally runs 20-30mb in my area. I do agree tho the 3g radio on this device is mediocre.
Wandering if I could use the Verizon gs3 on tmobile if not imma sell it or if I could use it in costa rica ?

No, you will not be able to use verizon's gs3 on tmo's network Verizon uses CDMA technology, while t-mo and at&t use GSM technology.
If you did a search you would have seen this thread covered about 3 times already.... and I believe the answer is yes since it is a world phone it has gsm capabilities

Ummmm.. No. Sorry. TMobile is GSM, and Verizon is CDMA. Not compatible.
Edit: Woah there. World phone??! Why did I not know that when I bought it? Coming from the DX I thought the SIM was just something new for 4G. That's pretty cool. So, we can put a TMo or ATT SIM in this thing and use it on their network? Is it that simple?
Ok, after searching, No, it is not that simple. It is a convoluted pain, and there are "reports of crashing". Looks like the hardware is "world phone" but the software isn't quite there yet... Still it looks like this situation may improve with time, so that is awesome.

Ya it can be done but at the moment I believe data is limited to EDGE speeds

So, we've been using Verizon DSL the last 6 years, and as of late it's speed has dropped considerably to the point of being reminded of what dialup is...with that said, can I take my current plan (unlimited minutes, text and data) and drop to the lowest minutes/text/but keep unlimited LTE...and from there, open another line of service with say 6gb along with minutes and text?
From there I would port my old number from the unlimited LTE account to the new line of service....then take the sim from the unlimited LTE and use it in a MiFi?
God I hope this makes sense.
So to recap, open a new line, drop minutes to a minimum on old unlimited LTE plan, swap numbers....use the unlimited LTE line as a MiFi with voice minutes that will never be used...and use the new line as my "new" "phone" line....
Thank god for any help....I think I got it down...
Chris
oh and this is all because I refuse to do business with Time Warner! Which other than Verizon DSL is the only provider available (FiOS is only blocks away...but it's blocks away)!
Your probably better off calling Verizon and asking them.we make think something and they'll say the opposite

Just call your dsl provider and report trouble on your dsl line so a technician can fix it.
Why not just use hotspot and save a ton of money?

No it won't work. The unlimited data feature for phones and the internet feature used for mifis is different. If you put that sim in either the mifi won't activate or you'll be switched to the default 5gb plan for mifis. It would be nice if it was that easy.

Now if you just bought a 4g phone and dedicated to using it as a hotspot that would definitely work. You can kiss your number goodbye though. There's no way to port your number to another line of Verizon service. You could change your number but that would only permanently erase your previous line not make it so you could port it.

And the only way to "port" your number to another account would be through assumption of liability which would mean the account would have to be in someone else's name. Your unlimited data feature is tied to that line and and the number that is currently on it. Sorry for all the edits. I just re read your post and wanted to make sure I covered all your bases.

While I'm sure that's the official line that Verizon employees have been told, that is not what has been publicly stated by Verizon (see phonenews.com/verizon-affirms-unlimited-smartphone-sim-card-usage-in-hotspots-tablets-lte-ipad-20053/). I can confirm that I have been able to switch my 4G sim card into the Samsung 4G hotspot sold (or previously sold) by Verizon without any data cap.
My plan did not change, the device automatically provisioned, and I was able to easily return to my previously used phone. I've done this over the course of the past year a dozen times (at least) and have even received troubleshooting from Verizon with the hotspot activated on the account.
I'm going to the USA for a month next month. Would like to use this phone over there so I don't have to carry a dumb phone for calling and this phone for wifi. Has anyone had any success using this phone on AT&T? Even if it's just voice and text, that would suffice. If it doesn't work there, is there another carrier that it will work on without flashing a new IMEI onto it?

You can order a SIM for it from Straight Talk. $15 for the card. $45 a month, no contract.
Straight Talk is CDMA, this phone will not work with CDMA outside of Korea.

Oh 760, bummer.
---------- Post added at 07:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:41 PM ----------
Actually P925 is GSM; I use them.
---------- Post added at 07:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:50 PM ----------
But no idea if they carry a card for that phone....
BTW lately for some reason XDA app won't let me edit a post....
I might look into it then. A sk seller guarantees that the 760 works in America but may only do 2G. That doesn't bother me as much. If straighttalk is cheaper, I'll do that.
Actually looks like all frequencies work on the 760 for American gsm. Now need to figure out which carrier will work best for me.

Thanks again, drastic.
I just got into America, got my phone working on StraightTalk, no sweat.
Took a little bit of finagling to get the APN set up, but I think it was user input error on my part.

Good
So I've had st since n5 release and I'm fed up and switching.
Anyway during the aio checkout. I entered my account number and pin and last four of social. And they billed me and its processing.
Now.. I hear nightmares of people having to call st to authorize a port. Which sounds like a major pain.
Will aio still ship my stuff to me and I can figure out the port and stuff when I'm trying to activate my new service and sim?
Or do you think they'll reject my order?... And refund me :/

Are you switching from an AT&T Sim on net10 to AIO? I ask because ports only work when your actually switching carriers for instance T-Mobile ST to AIO.
Otherwise AT&T has to handle it internally which can be a real mess.
Switching mvno but staying with the same carrier can be a really pita.
Otherwise it should be fine, I switch and port quite often.
It should be noted that if your frustration with ST is Latency and data issues your unlikely to be happier with AIO. they actually throttle the data about the same , latency is the same and they also limit your maximum speed. If you want better latency on prepaid AT&T you pretty much have to go to go phone.
