[Q] New to A700 - what's the best rom? - Acer Iconia A700 and A510

I am new to my a700 and so far I love it. However, I would like to root it so I can 1.) connect my Sixaxis controller and 2.) move over game save data. I find the option of picking a rom a bit overwhelming. Can someone offer an opinion of the roms available for the a700?
I'm coming from my first Android device - an HP Touchpad with CM10.1.
If there is a recent thread on this topic, I have overlooked it.
Thanks in advance!
John

I'm using CyanogenMod on mine. I like it. The a700 is a supported cyanogen device so they release stable ROMs and frequent updates.

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a try.
Does "The Simpsons: Tapped Out" run? I have been playing it a lot and I hoped to take my save status with me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283306

For this particular tablet, there's not that many ROM to choose from. I've actually tried all of them and somehow settled on a port from the original jb rom, Alex's Purgatory. I know it's based on A701 but it works well with the A700. Just from personal experience, I find it smoother and the graphics better ( maybe because of original drivers? ) compared to cyanogen based roms. But to each his own so try them out and you be judge.

Thread Closed
Normally XDA doesn't allow "Best Rom" threads. For the reason opinions can vary, and in some forums, arguments typically happen.
So in this case, I will close this thread, and re-open a new Thread " What's the Best Rom, Kernel, etc". This has proven effective in the past, as the thread is maintained by a Moderator.
So with that said, Thread is closed. Check Q & A forum soon for the official thread.

CodeName ISC Rom

Hi there,
I have a little doubt. Do someOne testes this Rom (codename ICS Rom) after having CM9 or Apex OR CyberGr?? If so, what do you think of it? is ot worth to flash?
How about speed & battery Life??
Thanks in advance
Just make a backup of your current rom and flash Codename. You'll find hundreds of responses and feedback in the Codename thread, not sure why you posted this here.

I know that. I posted here because usually the folks comment all about the Thread rom and dont really compare with other roms.
I would do a backup and then falsh the codename but my phone is almost full (11bg - games (gta3, 9mm, etc) so it will take some time to do that. Instead i wanted to hear some opinions.
Thanks anyway

I've done some work comparing ROMs, follow my link...
kernels ; battery ; ROM ; gov/sched
Now with summaries in the first posts. Convenient for XDA app users!
I think that now codename Android is the best, smoot, stable ROM, especially with speedy-7 kernel. it has a lot of improvements, mods, CA also have it's own app, from what you can download some new mods, update existing apps/mods/addons, so you got very useful all-in-one tool. My phone works perfect with liveoc 115%, CPU 920 deadline - ondemand.

[Q] (Q) Most Stable Non-Touchwiz ICS ROM?

Hi there,
I just got the Rogers S2 LTE for my wife. I rooted the phone and am looking to install a Non-Touchwiz ICS ROM for her. There seems to be many great ROMS for this phone but it is a little overwhelming, I've been using the HTC Desire Z and Inspire and this is my first taste of Samsung Smartphones. I'm currently using Ice Cold Sandwich AOKP for my Inspire and really like it. Can anyone recommend something similar for the Skyrocket? I've tried the stable version of CM9 and like it but want to know what else is available. I would like something that is stable as she will be using it as a daily ROM. Any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks.
Please read through the threads for the various ROMs and make your own decisions. "Best" threads like this one are not allowed because they lead to flaming and migraines.
This ^ and if uve been on xda for awhile u should know that questions should be posted in the Q&A section and not in the general section

My bad, I was debating which section to post it in. I will try all the different ROMS to see which works best for her. Thanks for replying.
As far as non-tw goes, aokp (I believe milestone 6 was the latest ics build) or cm9 are probably your best bets.
Not sure if you've seen it but there is a list of ICS ROMs in vincom's sticky here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785999
I would go through them for options and see what appeals if ICS is important for you. I had good results with Magic Whiz R2, which you might like as a tweaked version of CM9. You're not going to see a lot of dev effort around ICS based ROMs, most have switched focus to JB and with the new CM10 nightlies for the skyrocket even more so (you might consider that too if you like CM9).

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I will try those ROMS first.
First wrong section. Second, search, read, test them out and make that decision yourself.

[Q] Choosing a ROM

I am very new at all this but off to a good start so far...I think. My Verizon S4 is successfully rooted and it's running the JellyBro EuroSkank ROM. I used GooManager and TWRP 2.5.0.3 to do it all. GooManager shows several other compatible ROMa are available like Carbon for example. My question is how do I know which one is the best in stability and features?
My current one, seems to be very good but is there something even better?

This thread is unnecessary. This will eventually lead to a best Rom thread which is not allowed. The best thing for anyone would be to flash them and see what fits your needs.

Pretty much this. Best thing to do is read the threads of different ROMs and flash a few yourself to see what best fits your needs. No one will know but you.

Need Cleanrom replacement

I've been on cleanrom for awhile now and love the stability and simplicity of the Rom. I'm looking to upgrade to a new sense 5 that's similar to cleanrom. What is a good option? I'm currently completely rooted except for s-off (can't get adb and my phone to cooperate). Thanks for the help guys.

They are all good options. Its against the rules to recommend ROMs. Just pick one, or a couple that look like they meet your needs and preferences, and flash away.
To call one ROM "good" is to imply the others are somehow inferior or "not good", which is an insult to the devs that work so hard to give us these ROMs.
I'm more looking for a basic stock Rom with a few enhancements. I'm not sure which of the new roms fit this mold. Some of the descriptions are a little vague.

I can see your asking for which Rom is basic like clean Rom not which Rom is BEST so I don't think this question is breaking any rules. So I'll answer it with any Rom that is a stock rooted Rom like turges stock sense 5 Rom. I know there's a few more but I forget the names lol.

I've recently put magiorom after being on cleanrom and its fantastic. Its in a different compared to cleanrom althpugh given time there will be a more "stock" rom which you can try.
The current version of MagioRom is pretty much stock apart from a couple of tiny things.

As is cleanstrip, or the OP can go with the 2 available stock Sense 5 ROMs (by Turge and carl 1961). Now 2 people have suggest MagioROM, so its already turning into a popularity contest. So it goes back to my original point, this is really just a "best ROM" or "recommended ROM" discussion.

What Rom is the most stable?

Hi!
I just wonder what custom rom is most stable for everyday usage, preferably based on ics or higher.
Thx
Actually according to xda rules most stable rom topic is prohibited...
It will be good if you try the most roms in the development section by yourself and find out which is more stable...
Sent from the future...
Oh, well in that case I'm sorry.
I rather not go through the process of testing every single rom myself, I just thought that some of you guys with experience could share your thoughts. I guess I'll continue using the stock rom then, was looking forward to use a rom where ghostcalls isn't an issue, can't belive these kind of bugs are present in stock roms...
