CodeName ISC Rom - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I have a little doubt. Do someOne testes this Rom (codename ICS Rom) after having CM9 or Apex OR CyberGr?? If so, what do you think of it? is ot worth to flash?
How about speed & battery Life??
Thanks in advance

Just make a backup of your current rom and flash Codename. You'll find hundreds of responses and feedback in the Codename thread, not sure why you posted this here.

I know that. I posted here because usually the folks comment all about the Thread rom and dont really compare with other roms.
I would do a backup and then falsh the codename but my phone is almost full (11bg - games (gta3, 9mm, etc) so it will take some time to do that. Instead i wanted to hear some opinions.
Thanks anyway

I've done some work comparing ROMs, follow my link...
kernels ; battery ; ROM ; gov/sched
Now with summaries in the first posts. Convenient for XDA app users!

I think that now codename Android is the best, smoot, stable ROM, especially with speedy-7 kernel. it has a lot of improvements, mods, CA also have it's own app, from what you can download some new mods, update existing apps/mods/addons, so you got very useful all-in-one tool. My phone works perfect with liveoc 115%, CPU 920 deadline - ondemand.

What would be the best rom?

Which rom should I flash to my nexus? CM7 or is there a better one? I'm all about speed and flexibility.

Honestly there is no "best" rom. Some like cm7 the best, some like stock the best, some like rom xxx or yyy the best.
You will get 100 different answers if you ask 100 people. The best rom is the one that works best for YOU. Honestly what I would do is (assuming you already flashed cwm recovery) back a backup of your current setup, flash a different rom and try it out. Don't like it? Restore your backup. Try different rom/kernel combinations and see what works best for you and your phone. There is no "best" overall, just whats best for you.
Yea its best to experiment with all of the different roms and kernels then find what you like best.

I'm using Miui 1.7.1/netarchy 1.3.4 cfs and its very snappy.
I'm using MIUI 1.7.1 also but I have Netarchy 1.3.6 on mine overclocked to 1.2gh and my phone is very fast with good battery life.

there is no best rom, its all about preference. with many roms to flash, you could try and see what works for you. to me, i got hooked on miui 1.7.1 and netarchy kernel.
the beauty about NS is you will find many roms for it, have fun with it
A good indicator is to see: "Nexus S Android Development" forum,
there are the officiale rom thread, you can see the most popular rom there (number of posts per thread).
It's not an answer but an indicator of the popularity.
Thanks to all of you for your input. Looks like i'll try Miui with the netrachy kernal. Let y'all know how it goes.

for me Apex by Bigxie is Da Bomb
CyberGRv7 ICS Rom is MINT!!
I'd say CyberGR's v7 as well, have it on my own nexus, works like a charm
15½ hours on battery , still 74% battery left.
I'm agree. I use CyberGR V7. It's a great ROM. I've tested some another, but I have great battery/perf/functions with CyberGR.
I really like CyberGR v7. Has been pretty stable (I have not experienced any reboots or FCs), really fast and good battery life.

Have you upgraded to Apex 1.0.2 yet? I tried, but after flashing my wifi worked great but 3G would not connect.
It's hard to say "this ROM is best!" for anyone, it depends what your looking for in a ROM. If battery life is your main concern, I'd second CyberGR v7.
Performance? Personally I like Codename Android with matr1x kernel (mainly because of 1.46Ghz OC.)
Bugless petes for best of everything!

I'd give my vote to CyanogenMod 9 (v3.4 atm). Get it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399035. I used to use MIUI but switched to CM when ICS came out and have still not found a reason to search any further.
I've gone from CyberGR v7 to Oodie's MIUI and now on nuhetri v2.3.0.
I think MIUI is still a bit laggy, but it's coming through fast.
Nuhetri is working pretty good for me. A would still need to check battery life on it, but it's pretty fast!
Nuhetri or cna v1.4.0 ! I have cna atm with air kernel 3.3 overclocked to 1400mhz. soooo smooth! And batterylife is pretty good

Which rom are you talking about?
The best rom so far is cybergr with air kernel. Great battery and no lag

Hard to say which ROM is the best because they all have their pluses and minuses. Same can be said for kernels; each kernel will perform differently according to which ROM you choose. I'd suggest reading through the ROM ops and selecting the one you like based on features and theme. Once you've found a ROM you like, flash several different kernels to find one that is most compatible (also doesn't hurt to read kernel ops as well for feature details). This process, although a little more time consuming, will likely give you better results than relying on the objective opinion of others. Also, bedalas compiled some awesome reference guides on on room and kernel performance that's a must read for anyone looking to get the most out of their device.

[Q] Best Kernel for the Nexus S

Hello all,
I am planning to change my kernel. But I am confused as to with what kernel I settle down. So seeking help of you community members.
I prefer kernel which has a nice performance and great battery life and that can work with majority of Roms including MIUI.
I heard that marmite latest version 7.3 is not stable. So if you suggest marmite then also please mention which version I download.
I am running on JB stock atm.
Thank you for reading.
Regards

if you got 5 people to respond you would get 5 different answers
you would still need to use the search function
[available on every page...] to find and READ information about each one
every phone is a little different in the way the hardware responds
no two folks use their phone the same
what works perfect for me might make your device reboot continuously
the short answer is that only you can determine what works best for you and your phone
stop trying to avoid the effort needed to expand your knowledge
use the search engine
I am not avoiding. I am just new to kernels hence asking. I did study a bit about kernels available. But asking as I don't want to miss out any good kernel.
Try out marmite, matrix, and air kernel.

Marmite its always a good start, them u should try others, but it seems that for Nexus S, besides all the little differences between devices Marmite is the one to rule them all.

Thanks all for replying going with marmite.

[Q] Choosing a ROM

I am very new at all this but off to a good start so far...I think. My Verizon S4 is successfully rooted and it's running the JellyBro EuroSkank ROM. I used GooManager and TWRP 2.5.0.3 to do it all. GooManager shows several other compatible ROMa are available like Carbon for example. My question is how do I know which one is the best in stability and features?
My current one, seems to be very good but is there something even better?

This thread is unnecessary. This will eventually lead to a best Rom thread which is not allowed. The best thing for anyone would be to flash them and see what fits your needs.

Pretty much this. Best thing to do is read the threads of different ROMs and flash a few yourself to see what best fits your needs. No one will know but you.

What Rom is the most stable?

Hi!
I just wonder what custom rom is most stable for everyday usage, preferably based on ics or higher.
Thx
Actually according to xda rules most stable rom topic is prohibited...
It will be good if you try the most roms in the development section by yourself and find out which is more stable...

Oh, well in that case I'm sorry.
I rather not go through the process of testing every single rom myself, I just thought that some of you guys with experience could share your thoughts. I guess I'll continue using the stock rom then, was looking forward to use a rom where ghostcalls isn't an issue, can't belive these kind of bugs are present in stock roms...
