Title says most everything.
I was traveling across country when my Charge's battery gave up on me. I did like this phone. I stopped in Fargo, ND at a local verizon store and asked if anyone around had a battery. they were helpful and looked all around plus where I was traveling to. No batteries in stock. Of course I could buy one online but that would take days to get delivered. When traveling 1400 miles, one doesn't want to go phoneless for long incase there is trouble.
So I upgraded to a Note 2. I like it a lot but I still don't want to let the charge go away too quickly. I have a neighbor who could use it on his wifi. If only I could find some batteries cheap. My neighbor is legally blind and uses a motorola droid 2. I think he is only able to text because he can tactile feel the buttons on his screen. Regardless, I would like to give him this charge to try if I can find a decent battery cheap enough.
That is about it. I have moved on to a Note 2 and want to keep this charge alive. Any help would be appreciated. Especially if I can keep my low sighted neighbor connected.
God bless

easy enough. i did this when I gave the Charge to my son. after rooting and installing tweaked 3.2, I was able to install apps like android firewall to prevent his games from accessing the internet.
I then set the phone to airplane mode, then turned on wifi. only problem is that each time the phone reboots, you'll need to enable wifi.
hope this helps.

I also just left the SCH-I510 for the SCH-I605 (this week). Loving the new toy.
Not sure if I can help you in respect to your low sighted neighbor...
Cheap batteries are on eBay, if you don't mind wait. search for "sch-i510 oem battery", last I checked they ran $6-7ish.
I am playing around with a WIFI only ROM to use as foundation for a music player. Not sure if there will be tangible benefits of disabling the non-WIFI Radios, but it might be fun to see. If you are interested let me know...
No promises on when I'll have something to share. For the most part I've got it built, just need to teach myself how to package it as a recovery install zip, or make an ODIN Image.
PS for your neighbor a tablet with a larger screen might be in order. I've got an Acer Iconia A500 that I just rooted/unlocked/ROMed last week. I noticed they are getting cheap on swappa. With ICS+ and the Xposed framework and app settings module you could customize the fonts... just thinking out loud.

My phone constantly runs out of battery when i need it the most.
I have an anycan portable power pack thing allready and its good, however i dont always remember to take it with me.
So im looking for a 2nd one and came across this little thing
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXTERNAL-...303?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item336667368f
Has anyone here purchased one? if so how much of a charge does it give your phone?
Or could anyone give me links to anything similar to the powermonkey for about half the price? and preferably in the UK as im going away in a weeks time.
Thanks
just seen this, sounds good for the money, another listing for the same looking items shows same figures as the power monkey?

This one works very well, much better than that one, i bought it for 20 euro's in a local electronic store, charges it 2,5-3 times from 15-100
Thanks for that. Does it hold enough power to give the desire 1 full charge or more ? ?
And can you plug in your own usb cables or does it have a different connector?
Cheers
I re-read your post last night(2am) and orderd the advanced pack for £19.99.
good price, free post and the item sounds decent!
I should hopefully have it by wednesday/thursday so just in time for me to go away on sunday.
I think you'll already know, you can put any usb(cable) in it, only if you charge the thing itself it uses MINI-usb(not micro like desire) so don't lose that cable and use the one you got.
PS: i don't use the torch but it is a very good one, provides a lot of light.
Yes i read up on it, expansys have posted it out allready so should be with me in time for my trip
I got the advanced kit aswell so im happy about that.
And i have plenty of torches so cant see myself using that much either tbh.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
BIG praise to exansys as i orderd it around 2am yesterday morning and it was waiting for me when i got home from work today.
I will be plugging it in very soon for its 1st 8hr charge as it has no charge at all right now.
I have 1 question for you though TopGear63z, the smaller pouch, is it supposed to be a single compartment pouch or has the lining come away from one side of mine?
Thanks
as you have an advanced kit> you should have such a pouch without it.. the big one is for the thing itself+ the cable> the small one is just for the car charger or on of the other things> so it doesn't need that lining as the big one has.
Im fussy so i will try and get it changed lol
So i gave the thing a full 8 or 9 hours first charge and used it to charge my phone whilst at work today.
Fully charged my phone, choiix unit down to 2leds from 4.
Im really pleased with it and highly recommend it to everyone!!

Hi everyone, As title states i am looking to buy a tf300 to replace my aging hp dv6000 laptop running vista (yes i know why u stayed with vista, got used to it) At this moment I do not need a laptop as my desktop will be able to manage everything but do require something on the run enter tf300..
I do have a couple of questions if someone can answer them that would be great!
1. I have heard that the tf300 drains battery whilst the screen is off i have read things like the acer a510 has the ability not to drain battery whilst screen is off. Has there been any development that will help achieve this?
2. There is great rom development here with this device, has development help improve battery with this deivce? review stats indicate that the tablet on its own is only good for 8 hours with dock it may get you to 11 hours..
Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers.
It would be a great idea to check out the Dev. section of the tf300t's forum to see if they have got a ROM that improves battery life. (There is, but I'm to lazy to find the link )
That said are you considering getting the keyboard dock with the tab as well? I would highly recommended it, and it would go to increase the battery life of the tab.
Ok thanks I will have a look see, yes of course I will get the dock my trade off will be battery life though but with the only brand to have keyboard and android power its hard to move away from
Yes it drains when the screen is off. Someone said they lost %6 over 24 hours with the wifi left on. At that rate it would take over 2 weeks to completely drain it.
Imagine the rate would be less if you keep the wifi off. Don't take any of that as a guarantee, just word from one unverified source.
And there's always development going on. It's a fairly popular device that's new on the market. There's bound to be plenty of things coming from the community over the coming months.
One thing to also consider is how fast the TF300 charges. It only takes a couple hours to put a full charge on mine. Much better than some other tablets *cough ipad cough*.
cool thanks for that, i know what u mean that other tablet.. somehow one has managed to make its way into the house...no its not mine its my mums..
Like pretty much every other device, there is battery drain when sleep. But it's not like you'll wake it with half your battery gone or anything. The drain will be in the low single digits, like 2% or 3% Most people who have the tab only charge once every one or two days. Sometimes even less.
Ok cool, well I have just made my purchase hopefully it will be ready for pick up sometime tomorrow, it was $598AUD but I had some gift cards and filled a money jar worth of coins so I am going to be paying about $300 for a new tf300.
Thanks guys for your inputs.
Cheers.
Just got my tf300 looks amazing. I have a noob question... Should I be putting my existing Gmail account on my phone to link to the tablet or should I make a brand new account? Reason is if I use my existing one will that back up everything on my phone to the tablet and if I were to flash roms and recover everything will it screw around with it? First time tablet owner Btw

I have the same two Google accounts linked on my tablet and phone with no problems.
Ok so nothing conflicts by using the same account?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
Nope. Google can tell which device you're using. If you go to the Play Store on a computer, when you install an app, it will give you a list of all the devices you're logged into. It won't restore apps from one device onto another.
and it's even better if you use the same account, because it automatically syncs whatever (from google and their products, services,...) you have in this device to other android devices you sign in.
Awesome thanks guys, everything is running great thus far only problem i have come across is the mouse on the keyboard can be a bit laggy at times other than that its great!

My brother has a HOX, preordered from Radioshack and got his phone right before Apple went all Soup Nazi on HTC. He is not what I would call a power user. He does not root phones, load custom roms, or do much of anything other than use his phone. Today he told me that his battery is draining at an incredible rate. Down to 58% in less than 2 hours. He hasn't downloaded any apps or anything that would cause this problem. He called AT&T and their fix was sending him a new battery.....
Now, I might be a little on the slow side myself but I am pretty sure that it takes a very adventurous person to crack open this phone to replace the battery. I told him that he is getting the run around and that he should demand a replacement. He is past his 30 days but they should still do a warranty exchange. He said he will take it to an AT&T store when he gets the new battery and see what happens but I sure as heck would not trust some $8/hr lackey at a random at&t store ripping my phone apart. (no offense to those of you that work at an at&t store but if I don't feel like I could do it myself then I would want someone who is an expert doing it, not someone that is just collecting a check)
Am I the only one that thinks this is a terrible idea?

Considering that you have to take screws out and remove other components to GET to the battery, it's a horrible idea. I'll bet he gets a battery for a Vivid or some other phone.
They screwed up - someone at AT&T didn't realize you can't just swap the battery. They tried to offer me the same solution when I brought back the unit because of the battery drain issue, until I told them that you can't just swap the battery out.
Is your brother in an LTE area? Does he commute to work (subway) - or otherwise runs into issues where he loses signal for some time? That seems to be one of the biggest issues with the battery drain today - regaining lost LTE signal (after it being lost for a while).
Tell him to install Badass battery monitor. It will tell you what's draining the battery.

He lives in Houston, so yes he has LTE. No odd commute though, but the has had the phone for 2 months roughly and have good batter life up until two days ago. I don't think he has any issue with signal loss.

Lol clearly someone didn't realize that the battery isn't replaceable on a HOX.
Phone has a year warranty. I don't think the device support centers even have the HOX yet so to get his replacement he'll have to call 1-800-801-1101
They'll ship him out another one.

Every time I've called AT&T about the phone their android phone tech people (yeah sure they are), have always first told me to take the battery out of the phone. When I tell them I can't and its a one piece phone. Its as if they heard the word of God and their eyes were finally opened. It baffles how much some people just don't know. I've always been told by att to push volume up and power to reset the phone..

I'm confused.. why wouldn't you want to have the phone replaced? I'd take a brand new phone any day. Of course assuming it's actually new and not a "like new" refurbished one..
just curious is all.
And on the OP's question - I did a google search for s4 battery door covers and found some pretty legit looking sites that sold all kinds of different colors. While perusing on the sites for other stuff they had I saw they had replacement parts for the s4 as well as other phones. I don't remember the actual site but I recall there being many, many search results that sold parts, cases, chargers & other accessories. Hope that helps? Sorry for not having a particular site but maybe my reply gets you closer to what you seek.
Good Luck!

Well my s4 is rooted and I have it setup just the way I like and it is working great. No lag, good battery life, etc. I use wireless charging on the phone to charge it so the port is doesn't have to be repaired as I can still charge the phone. I have the stock samsung battery as well as 2 3000mah zero lemon batteries and charger for them. I can usually go 15-20 hrs on a single charge with the zl battery with wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc running all day.
The biggest reason of not wanting to get a replacement is the issue of root with a new phone. With the new or refurbished phones possibly coming with the newest update, It might not be possible to root the new one they send me right now. I dunno if someone has a work around for the new update yet. I haven't been keeping up with it since I've been rooted close to the release of the phone. If root is possible how easy is it? It only prob took me 10-15 mins to root and flash a new rom to my s4 with the one click root.

Root is easy, recovery isn't possible right now.
So if you're using stock rom with root, freezing aps etc, then just get a new phone.
If you got a rom loaded and it's crucial, then wait I guess.
You could titanium back up and restore what you can with your new phone.

I think I'll just stick with what I got for now. Between wireless charging and the charger that comes with the zero lemon batteries I'm ok. Never had wireless charging before and can't see living w/out it now. It's a great feature. I'm running the newest release of hyperdrive and really liking it right now. Very stable, everything works, battery life is pretty good. Would like to flash a nice kernel and get this Quad Core Manager+ app working right on my s4. Had something similar on my htc evo 3d that shut the 2nd core down in sleep mode and dropped the 1st core to 486 mhz. My battey life was crazy. Like standby with wifi on, bluetooth, gps on and losing maybe a percent of my battery every 6-8 hrs.

Hey guys
After a notable absence of Android in my life I'm heading back over with a TF300T. Now, as you may guess from the title I want to talk about my various connection options and draw from your experiences with the device to help me make the right choice in terms of getting my new baby online outside my house.
Obviously I could have gotten a device with built in modem but nothing really turned my head in terms of price and stuff, and as I recall just buying a device that just does what you want it to do already isn't really the Android spirit; half the fun is getting there.
Anyway, this leaves me with a number of imperfect options for data connections:
My phone will happily tether up to the tablet and because my network are cool dudes I can do that for free. Problem is that doing so means I can't make/recieve calls and texts while I'm tethered up and since I want mobile data love when I'm out of the house working that would seem to not be a great idea.
Secondly I could jump in with a mobile wifi thing, but I'm really not keen to get a another contract to make that happen and the amounts of data I'm likely to use (literally just web browsing for now and forever) are somewhat low and somewhat infrequent, making this seem to be a pretty bad useage of money. Also with devices offering 'Up to 5 hours of battery life'; well lets just that's not going to last me long enough to be useful.
Finally, I can grab a 3G USB stick and duck tape it to the device. It's the right stuff for my requirements, but it seems kinda non-trivial to hook up a USB device to the undocked tablet and certainly it seems totally unrealistic to wander around holding the tablet with usb adapter, then modem dongle sticking six inches out of the bottom. At worst it'll fall out, at best I'll break it. In the dock this looks great, assuming it'll work in the standard USB port, but outside it just seems silly.
My hope really was that I'd be able to find a cable that'd go from the propitiatory connector (Bad Asus!) to female usb so I could potentially stick the dongle flat against the back of the tablet without noticeably increasing it's footprint, but that seems unlikely. I've seen a guy on youtube who can make such a cable, but it takes soldering and that's somewhat outside my abilities.
So what kind of approach had you guys taken and what experiences have you had using this kind of ghetto-interweb solution? The key is to find the right add on that will let me still use my phone properly, that will give me long endurance but also minimal hassle... A bit of a reach really, but maybe I'm not thinking of all the options.
Apologies if anyone thinks this is in the wrong place, my XDA-fu is a little rusty but I'm pretty sure I'm in the right place. I've googled around and while I can find plenty of stuff telling me all the ways to hook the internet up, no-one seems to be answering what way I should approach making it all happen.
Best choice for me has been a mifi. Look up a Huawei 585 or 589 and plug in a sim and away you go. You can get some very cheap rolling monthly contracts these days for data only plans.
How have you found the battery life to be in practice? Can I leave the thing switched on and get some reasonable proportion of a day out of it? My hope really is that the battery estimates they give are 'x hours of actual internetting' instead of 'x hours of being switched on'. If it'll just quietly sit and stay connected for most of a day then that'll probably be fine, but if I have to finesse the thing on and off all day long just to get past lunch time that sounds pretty bad for my situation.
