[Q] Phone getting stuck and crashing while installing apps, why? - HTC Sensation

So I've been having tons of fun with my Sensation ever since I got it, and I installed AOKP 4.2.2 + Sultan Kernel r24.5, with all recommended settings aside from cpu speed which is at Sensation XE speed and undervolting is at recommended levels.
However, I've been getting this issue of everytime I'm installing apps, the phone hangs and just gets stuck until I take out the battery and turn it on again. This ONLY happens when installling apps, and hasn't happened with ANYTHING else. Any ideas? Kinda in a rut.

Provide us with more information. Is your phone rooted, on a custom ROM maybe, what have you been doing to your phone, when did this start happening, etc.
History
I started with stock, rooted, non-market apps, unhelpful kernel v1.2, removed AT&T bloatware. LCD density @ 180. Tried One Click Lag Fix v1.0 and v2.2 and uninstalled. Juice Defender to manage 3G. Juice Plotter to track battery.
After messing around with it, I encountered a reset of the default launcher selection each time I long pressed the home button to bring up the recently used programs. I then did a hard reset and that fixed that problem. After the hard reset, my Captivate ran great! I found it responsive and fast enough without the need to try and apply any lagfix.
I then reinstalled my selected applications. My phone started to randomly reboot about once a day. I noticed Juice Plotter's data would be lost and it had to rebuild. It also happened to reboot on me once while I was using it. Other than that, it has not really affected my usability.
If it hasn't affected your usability, do you want to fix it?
If you do want to fix it, then the best way is to restore to Stock and add things slowly until you determine the problem. If you return to Stock and it still reboots, then you have a hardware issue.
It doesn't "quite" affect usability but it is not working "normally" either.
Was hoping to see if anyone else have experienced random reboots and how to troubleshoot it. If not, I will try out Odin one-click flash to stock...

Random shutdowns, Boot Loop on recent Revolution HD flash. Rqr's battery pull

I recently rooted my Sensation 4G with Revolution HD 3.6.2 with Beats Audio. Prior to rooting the phone was pretty much stock and I’ve never installed, nor do I have any other roms installed on the phone other than the Rev HD rom.
Problem is, every couple days or so the phone randomly crashes and shuts down, then it goes into a boot loop where the HTC Quietly Brilliant splash screen appears, then the Beats Audio screen appears, then it shuts down and repeats until I pull the battery.
The crashes do not necessarily occur during process intensive moments either; for instance, last night I was filling out a “contact us” form on a web site and the phone shut down. Prior to that the last crash was during a game of Cut the Rope.
The shutdown appear random, not gaming specific, not web browser specific, not media playback specific…
I ran MD5 hash checks on both the Rom and the recommended radio before installing and both checked out good. No other weird hangups or issues when I installed the rom either, it was a very smooth-sailing clean install.

Hi,
Most random bootloops are kernel related.
Make a nandroid backup and try something like a kernel from show-p1984 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256668?
Or this beta from faux:
2.http://www.multiupload.com/ZENDIP7874
According to the Rev HD changelog the kernel (2.6.35.14) is optimized with the ROM.
I'm a little reluctant to mess with anything kernel related if it's not bundled with the rom.
I'll wait a little while longer, hopefully others will chime in on flashing alt kernels with this the Rev HD rom.
Thanks for the links though, I'm still pretty new at this so everything I do to this phone is proceeded with caution.

3.1.1 is last stable ROM, for me...

Hi,
Others have had problems with bootlooping, and changed their kernels in order to fix it.
If you make a nandroid backup, you can't lose.
If it doesn't turn out ok,restore the original.
It's that simple.
You are not going to do any damage, and there is no danger.
Win,win situation...

I have got the same problems. Im addition, I kept the settings of the processor unchanged, I have wiped and installed v3.6.2 two times, formatted my SD-card (in case of viruses, you'll never know), but still having freezes, loops, crashes, etc. very annoying. Also removed the superuser update, in case of causing any disruptions.
I hope someone can help us out solving this anyhow (or in an updated ROM version). Do more users experience this?
Can the rom run the stock kernel? If so try that one.
And most reboots and boot loops are caused by kernels. For all that are wary of flashing kernels, don't be. If you are up to flashing roms, then kernels is simpler. Radio flashing is the one to be very careful with, but kernel changing is as simple as changing a font on the phone with metamorph.

[Q] Screen lags.

Hi, I have problems with my HTC Senastion screen:
from time to time it freezes and nothing can be done about that. I can still use "normal buttons", but nothing more. After some time it just "unfreezes" and everything is like normal.
Can this be due to overclocked GPU?
Also, I have discovered that it appears randomly after reboots: sometimes after reboot I experience this issue, sometimes not.
EDIT: Hmm, as I see, only some parts of UI are lagging. For example status bar is working ok (no always but still). Moreover, the buttons like: home, menu also are not responding.
Which launcher do you use?
Nova luncher.
Never happened to me,
your problem seems to be an Hardware issue..
you can try to restore your sensation with the Stock RUU and send it back to htc
I had this problem using an overclocked kernel. Reverting back to the stock 3.32.401.5 kernel fixed the random freezing and reboots.
I'm now using SebastianFM's 1.4.1 overclocked kernel and things have been fine. No random reboots or freezing/lag.

Revelation Rom random reboots

Hi, I have a problem with random reboots on Revelation Rom. I already know some users have already reported some issues with it. Full reboots are totaly random, they happen when i dont use the phone (sleep), when i try to unlock it, or doing anything like typing a message, using web browser, etc. Ofcourse i did a full wipe befeore install, installed rom with default settings, i also didn't restore any apps, or something.
This is my last_kmsg from last reboot, i hope it will help SebastianFM to solve the problem (i believe there is one, other roms work like they should and i think i also do everythig like i should during install and after).
Can't post it in dev sectcion due to 10 posts restrictions.
Cheers.
Use 1188 mhz max cpu frequency, no cpu control software, I don't have reboots.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2
I have already tried to set 1188, 1296 and 1512 during install, all options gave me the same results, so i think it is not realted to CPU max freq.
I don't know if we have the same problem, I have my sensation turning off randomly for no reason what so ever. The weird thing is when it is plugged in, it doesn't turn it self off. I already brought a new battery so shouldn't be that. I also tried putting some paper in the battery section in case there was a lose connection. Played around with software, got nothing changing ROM, changing CPU freq, changing radio... nothing helps. I think mine problems are random reboots + shutdown, so it is not all ways the case it has rebooted. But when it does do the random reboot, it is often when I am trying to wake the device. I have no idea when it shuts down since when I try to wake it, it was shut down. Then I had to hold the power button to turn it on. Lastly, I think i get mostly shutdown.
Well, i don't know what is causing your problem. If you change between different roms/kernels/firmwares/radios/etc. and problem always exist, it can be hardware related.
Mine only appears on Revelation rom, and i always get the full reboot (no soft reboots or shutdowns).

These reboots are caused by kernel 3.4.10, not ROM, so we may continue this discussion on my kernel related thread. Reboots occurs only on few devices. I received many kernel logs, but I didn't find the reason, errors are different for each user.
The 12th day on the Revelation ROM and not a single reboot.
Also writing here due to the 10 post's rule eek
Will go back to the Revelation thread after this post because I really like the SebastiamFM's work and I have none of there mantioned problems (maybe one or two).
I was havign problems on the begining thoe... i couldnt startt the phone. It rebooted when I had to insert the PIN code or before the Sense even managed to load. Then I formated everything (including the SD card) to eliminate any "remains" of previous ROM's and i set the GPU on 300 and the MAX freq to 1520 and from than till now not a single lag.

Try using performance governer instead of ondemand.
Happy to help.
You could try reseating the battery or securing it a bit tighter, some users have reported reboots because of the battery being somewhat 'loose'.

[Q] Reaper 4.0 - Application not responding / Quit to homescreen

Hello XDA
I've recently rooted my phone and flashed the Reaper 4.0 rom (w. full wipe), which is quite a performance boost coming from the factory default w. sense. Reaper is blazing fast to be frank!
Problem is that I've regularly been experiencing an "Application not responding" error or (more frequently) apps just quitting to the homescreen. Seems to be happening with many different apps periodically in bulk and have been happening ever since I first booted up with reaper. Sometimes the app freezes for a few seconds, where after it quits to the homescreen (no error message), but mostly it just instantly quits when I touch a button/link. During some sessions the apps run fine for long periods of time, during other they quit to the homescreen several times every minute. The rom itself seems to be very stable and I've never experienced anything like it with the default HTC rom.
Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on here? Anything I could/should adjust in the reaper control? Or should I just try a different rom? Am very satisfied with the speed, so I'd rather stay with reaper if its possible to eliminate the problem.
