What is the best way of flashing an custom Rom?

S-off your device and flash a recovery,then download a rom and install it wih recovery
Best recovey: 4ext beta 2.2.6

Exactly, that's what I'm writing.
he must be S-off with RUU rom, and root too, without problem. It's more practice to making all operations in the same time.
But he said that he want to flash a custom rom, so he must be:
1 - S-off
2 - Root
3- Nand backup (more important)
4 - Flash rom custom

Nandroid backup is useless
I bought my ds and s-offed it directly
No nandroid
No root zip
When you install a recovery,you don t need nandroid unless you want to install a ruu
He want to install a rom,so if the rom is breaked,there is no problem.downloading it again,he can reflash it.
The only thing that is necessary, it s the recovery.with this you can do anything

HTC released ICS 4.0.4 ROM (S-ON, Hboot 2.02.0002), How to root this?

First I unlock the boot-loader with htcdev.
Then I update it to ICS through HTC official ICS RRU ("RUU_SAGA_ICS_35_S_HTC_EU_14.01.401.2_20.76.30.0835_3831.19.00.110_275068")
Mt DS successfuly updated,
in the system info it shows:
Brand: Htc_europe
Android Version: 4.0.4
HTC Sense Version: 3.6
Build number: 14.01.401.2
It is running without any problem, but its not rooted.
Now I want to root my DS (Just root, with keeping this official ROM)
And in fastboot it shows:
***Relocked***
S-ON
HBOOT-: 2.02.0002
Could any body help me? I search a lot but everywhere it told that downgrade the hboot version or setup a custom rom, is there any simple way to do this? Pls Pls Pls help me if you could.

Htc-dev unlock. Custom recovery. SuperSU or SuperUser zip file. Go figure.

If you search for supersu cwm zip, it should be easily found (and it works from any recovery, not only cwm), latest version is 0.96. I'm sure something very similar exists with SuperUser, either should work.

[HELP] How to Unbrick

Hi guys..i need help here..my friend ask me to unbrick his HTC Explorer..its rooted already..he said its happen bcoz he wrongly deleted software..system file perhaps..so the situation here, its stuck into white screen with HTC logo..i search google, i can unbrick it using RRU..but one of my friend said, RRU cannot be done on unlocked bootloader..so i wanna ask if anyone can guide me, how to unbrick it to stock rom..i dont know whether this phone bootloader unlock or not..how to check it? thanx
EDIT : Done..its unlocked and i just flash any custom rom..is there any pure stock rom that flashable on CWM? or i only can use custom based on stock only?

my friend, i tried both, but end it with bootloop..but other custom rom can boot to homescreen..hurmm..but i wanna stock rom..did i need to flash stock kernel first?

That's weird... No, kernel first is not needed for the phone. Can you try first flashing this http://www.mediafire.com/?lim1od8qrjdbblp and after that one of the roms, another idea is to search for a backup of stock rom, then just restore it, I'm sure somewhere here in the forum I saw one, just couldn't find it now and I don't have a lot time, will try again later.Or ask in of the rom's thread, I just have no clue why stock roms don't work for you.

It appears to be the case of soft brick. Just download any custom from of your choice (IMO go for cm9#12) and flash it.

wipe everything via recovery, make sure your bootloader is locked, get into fastboot mode and run the RUU on your PC.

Any root zip file try but verification failed did you know some other way to root device

Also, you guys have to be aware that both CID and MID have to back to the initial state.

yep..but make sure t backup the internal sd card contents before proceeding..you migh loose data in the update process..

Thank you so much!! Will try it soon. Just to be clear I have a stock phone which is not rooted but only the bootloader has been unlocked. All i have to do is flash the 4.3 OTA update and after that install this ROM right??

-unlock bootloader(HTCDev)
-install custom recovery(i suggest using TWRP)
-update hboot via fastboot(as posted in the ROM thread)
-install rom and you are done..
but always backup your data before anything else..

Is this sense 5.5 ROM?

You need to be completely stock..stock recovery,boot and removed root...otherwise ota will fail...

Download stock 4.2.2 for your device and flash it through TWRP...Then from the stock zip extract boot.img and recovery.img and flash it in bootloader..please dont root when it asks..Then reboot the device..After reboot go to settings-about-software update and download the update..it should install successfully..

Everybody can upload stock recovery ans stock Boot please

I've looked into your thread for OTA collection, but those are for x920e Europe.

I'm not sure those are for 4.3. I'm currently on 4.2.2 with build number 2.33.707.3, the link you provided only go as far as 2.28.709.3.
