OCing will overheat your device, cuz you are making the CPU do more than what it is supposed to do.
It ain't the kernel. Don't OC, if you can't handle the heat.
All current overclock/undervoltage enable kernel around here based on blackhawk's patch, ported from cmenard's 3.0.8 kernel source code for AOKP.

I'd give the AGNI PureCM/PureStock kernel a shot, its my preferred kernel at the moment, use whichever depending if your device is on stock based firmware and CM version if you're on a CM based rom, bundled with it is the Boeffla Config app, in this app you can adjust your core voltage, (if the undervolt settings here arent good enough, you can get an app like SetCPU to do it in) , also, you can set the GPU OC while you're at it, i run 1350mhz on my CPU and 512mhz on my gpu, smooth and snappy, hardy heats up, works like a charm, you might like it!

ok guys i dont know weather its me or not
but i had flashed some kernals the are 1.5ghz but my quadrant score wont go up than 3010 highest i got.
some people on youtube shows them more than 5000 so i was wonder what was i doing wrong
at the moment im running CM7 lates build 158
and i notice some kernals wont work with lates buil
what kernals can i flash to overclock my phone as fastest?
and how.

Try the cm oc/uv 0.4.2 kernel by faux, install setcpu (free to members here, don't have link at the moment). Inside setcpu is where you adjust the kernel speeds. From what I've noticed, a custom kernel will be clocked around the normal kernel speed (stability reasons maybe) so even with custom kernels your not running as fast as you can.

i done the setcpu all the way to 1000 but it didnt seems to helped. i didnt go into profiles cause i dont know what im doing in there.
What kernel are you using? You have to use a custom kernel to overclock. Setcpu will detect the settings created by the person that made the kernel and allow higher settings. With the kernel I suggested you can go up to 1.55ghz

Write a kernel what can be overclocked, post it here, and you are good to go..
Anyhow, there is no need to overclock. Our Armv7 CPU and the Mali GPU is a killer in combination. Almost stronger than the tab 2. And you won't get tegra performance on a non tegra device anyways.

But actually we can oc stock ics...using Tegrak Overclock from playstore...i oc my tab to 1.5ghz..so far it didnt reboot randomly...but i downclock back to 1.2ghz bcoz oc can damage our hardware...

Try Paranoid Android 3.56 JB Custom ROM, its latest kernel overclocked our cpu to 1.5ghz and is pretty stable, the previous kernel was at 1.6 but that crashes the device and produces and beep sound like of a car being stoled xD
Okay so I am running CM9 alpha 14 and am quite irritated that we cannot OC on the default kernel. Its still just a minor shortcoming as there are other kernels. Which is the best kernel to OC this rom while keeping functionalities alive.
I tried the vurrut kernel but it killed my codecs so no videos. The UC kernel looks horribly outdated. What are the other kernels for CM9 that allow you to over clock ?

Hello, now Im on JellyBam and "voldemort" kernel, and it has xxtweaker app that alow oc gpu, but when I turn it on i have that kernel not suported. Is there any other app like this for this kernel or I need other version of it? now Im on 0,4,0 beta1

AFAIK only tegrak works for over clocking (not 100% sure) but I can say of course jellybam's kernel is the only one which support its app as its by the same author...even not all kernels work on jellybam!
Use original kernel or a different OC application

Why the last version of ics can't be overclocked?I mean,it can with another kernel,but why all devs who release a cm9.2.2 version use default kernel which can't be overclocked (max value) [IcySnap 2.0,NFE 6.0,maybe HardLight 4.0,etc] ? Is the phone actually working better at 600 mhz than 710 + for example? Any answer will be appreciated and please stick to the topic !

The phone actually works better at 600mhz. You can try overclocking with sweetnsour kernel, but you will notice that after overclocking phone runs bit laggy and benchmarks scores also decrease. Maybe its limitation of ICS + 3.0.x kernels.
Overclocking works fine with cm10.1 which has 3.0.8 kernel.
But for games for example,won t them run better with oc?Or I guess you can t have both: a little games performance & smooth ui?

It was disabled in stock CM9.2.2 kernel by hephappy. You can use custom kernel by sweatnsour or DJNoXD (look at Original Android Development forum) and then you can OC your phone. In my opinion, beta 5 by DJNoXD (also 3.0.x based kernel) is the best.
