[Q] Secretly Saving SMS & Call Logs without any notification on the notification bar.
Hi Team,
Wanted to know which application is there in Google Play store which can secretly save the text messages and call logs of the Phone without the user who actually is using the phone. Secretly means no notifications should be shown on the status bar and it should run on the background.
For e.g. If parents want to give their child a phone and want to keep an eye on them, then they can install this application so that even if child deletes the contents of SMS/Call logs, then also parents would come to know what they had been doing as the contents of the SMS along with other necessary information would be saved by the application on the device.
If there is no such app yet developed by anyone then would request you to have a look into the same.

Best Privacy/Hide App

What are the best apps to hide certain apps from being seen/found? Same with pictures, vids, maybe even texts? Probably 1 app cannot do this all so if you know them, post them!
Compiling a list of the best apps of all categories for android, so help out the community and leave some names and a quick reason for its pros/cons over other apps!
Thanks!
Do you have videos or pictures you want to hide to your girlfriend?
do you mean "of" or "from"?
Titanium backup pro let's you freeze an app making it invisible and non functioning, just unfreez it and it works and the icon will return

bump! i know some of you have these!
Put a dot . in front of the folder names of the 'dirty' folders.
search for Hide it Pro in the market
what does putting a dot in front of it do?
It hides it. The folder can't be accessed from the gallery app, and it's hidden in the file manager until you check "show hidden files".
This also works in Windows and Ubuntu (Ubuntu = CTRL + H)

Wow That's interesting
shady SMS
it overrides all the sms system while letting everything like it should be ....
but it create a secret contact list and text or call from the people in that list get intercepted by shadysms .... call still go through though ... but the call history will not show it!
you can access your secret SMS from your hidden contact list by dialing "123" on the dialer =)
there is no icon of this app... can only be access by dialing "123" or whatever you set to after....
best app to keep your girlfriend
I tried Shady but I ended up going with My Calculator. Its actually called My Private Messages but everywhere (from the Market to your downloaded app list) it is reffered to as My Calculator as to not attract any wandering eyes. The app is nothing fancy from a UI perspective, but as far as keeping incoming and outgoing texts from others, this thing rocks.
It is a calculator that functions as a normal calculator until you type in your passcode followed by "+,=". It then takes you to a hidden inbox where messages from your selected contacts will land when they text you. You will know you have received a new text when a notification of your choice pops up in your status bar. I use the default one which reads something like, "A wireless network was found".
If you are looking for simple, tried, and true with out anything flashy, check this thing out.
One addition I would say would be useful is the ability to send all messages from unknown senders who arnt on your contact list to the hidden messages box, that way if you ever get a random text it would go straight there. Or has this already been done.
Does anyone use a Photo/Video vault that leaves the files it hides in basically the same location?
My external SD is bigger than my internal one. HideIt Pro would be just the ticket if it didn't insist on transferring my videos from the external to the internal SD when it hides them.
Encryption is preferable but not necessary. I just don't want one like GalleryLock that basically just changes the directory/file extension without even altering the filename.
I may have to go back to using my old two-app combo of Photo Vault & Video Vault, but I hate their UIs.

[Q] Security: Why some Apps read SMS

I want to know why some Apps read my SMS...
Downloaded "Go Keyboard" from the market and I think it is a nice App. But when I read the (German) comments, some people complaint about that this App can read your SMS.
What do you think?

If the keyboard should be smart it needs to learn from your typing. One way is to read your SMS/texts or emails.
So you think this is important for the app to work properly and can be neglected?
Maybe sounds like a stupid question but I am still an Android beginner.
Anyway there is nothing important in my messages that I should worry about...

As nothing is save on the internet... it's up to you. The app isn't unknown and widely spread/used, I'd not worry about giving the requested permission.
Other apps however... different story. Rethink your decision everytime an app requests permissions.
If the app works w/o that specific permission is something I don't know. There's an app that can restrict specific permissions, requires root and I sadly don't remember the name right now.
Of course an app can work without certain permissions. But those permission make it more powerful and add functions. If you chopped off your arms, you couldn't entertain someone with juggling could you ?

Just saying
I wondered the same thing! I recently switched to KelLMSKing MIUI Mod and now when I get an SMS, I get two notifications. One is Car Locator wants to read my SMS. It is a GPS App where I can save my car's position in a parking lot and find it easily again. I have no idea why it would want to intercept my SMS messages, so I Deny it.. I looked it up and apparently in some countries, you can pay for parking by text message, and receive reminders that time is running out. That's a feature I'll never use, so I'll just tell it to remember to always Deny that request. The other notification is from Touchdown, which gets my Exchange Server emails for work.. I'm not sure what SMS it would be looking for, so I'll deny them, too
As for the keyboard, I have no idea why it would want to read incoming messages or how that would help it to learn your style.
I think it's more of a perusal of the messages for commonly typed words so that it knows the best words to recommend and predict. Like a scan, to add your speech to the dictionary.
I don't believe any developer is sitting up at night reading my texts. If he is, he should hit me back and help me out with some of my problems. <_<
What is Facebook's excuse then?

Facebook just blatently wants info to target you for advertising... but because theyre so big most people don't care
Facebook needs that permission to verify your account. Afair there's an option to add your mobile# to your fb account.
An application in the market that has been around awhile should be fine. Google will remove malicious software as soon as they know about it. It is new apps asking these permissions that I would be weary of. I use the Go keyboard myself and love it with royal purple neon theme.

I know of no such app available but You will have better luck posting this in the General Discussion -> Question and Answers forum instead of here in the general.

[APP] Secret WhatsApp

Hello Guys,
I have developed one awesome app for rooted users in terms of privacy. I would like to share my this product with you guys so you can take advantage of this app, Also you can give me your best suggestions and feedback. You can checkout my app on Google Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.corefragment.secret
Secret WhatsApp allows users to encrypt their original WhatsApp's notifications. Sometimes we require privacy about some personal contacts. Guys, till now we have just used some locking and blocking apps for the purpose of privacy. But what about that condition when you are giving your cell to someone else and your gf or bf says "I love you darling!!!" on WhatsApp ? Uff!! You have already locked your WhatsApp by other apps but someone else can read your message easily by pulling down notification bar
So if you want to restrict someone else to read your private messages even from notification bar, you are on the perfect page . We would like to help you on this mode. Secret WhatsApp will be perfect choice to encrypt your WhatsApp's notifications. And hope you will love this privacy mode
Features we would like to server on Secret WhatsApp:
- Encrypt your original WhatsApp's notifications from notification bar.
- Lock your Secret WhatsApp by passcode.
- Use widget to on/off our service directly from home screen.
Note : We have already tested with most of the customized OS. But still we require your support to improve our service.By your feedback ,we can improve strong privacy mode for you. So if you feel uncomfortable with any of the customized OS, We’re always excited to hear from you! If you have any feedback, questions, or concerns, kindly email me.
Waiting for your feedback guys.

Why don't any apps let you delete text messages directly from notifications?

I find it hard to believe that nobody thought this was a necessary feature, so it must be a restriction of the OS.
I don't want to archive my 2FA texts from various services, or SPAM, or provider notifications indicating that I've entered an extended coverage area.
I just want to delete them directly from the notification bar.
Yet, there isn't a single app I've found that allows this.
There are several e-mail programs that let you do this, but not text messaging apps.
You have to open the app and delete it from there.
Why is that?
Is anyone working on this?
/rant
