Okay i recently picked up a Hisense Sero 7 LT and i know there is a rooting method for the Pro version of the sero 7 but i haven't seen any work done with the LT model so i'm going to be working on a method to root it but i need a little help from the people with a Pro model, so if you have a Sero 7 Pro and would like to help that would be great. What i need is for the rooted Pro users to do is to upload the init.rc file in the root of the device as on the LT model / is read-only and the init.rc file isn't set to read in its permissions, next i need you to run 'ls -lR /data' in a root terminal so i can see if any files are vulnerable to the symbolic link root method. Thank you and i hope we can root this device.

yeah that method wont work with executing 'su' from /data/local/tmp because /data is mounted as nosuid which sucks..
I know one-clicks aren't the best way...
...but this seemed kind of interesting:
http www dot srsroot dot com (sorry, too new to post links )
They actually list the E270BSA in their "Tested models" page - but then they also say they have an average 48% success in rooting phones :/ From another forum I saw that their program tries 5 different root exploits.
The program is free - can anyone with a Sero 7 Lite give it a go and see what it says/does?
Hey guys - Klown80 hooked me up. SRSRoot didn't work - don't bother with it - but the new "end-to-end" Android vulnerability exploiter does (if your version of Android doesn't have both bugs patched already.)
On your device, get the app "SRS AppScanner", run it, and see if it says either of the two bugs are still "Vulnerable."
If either of them still is, go to http cydiaimpactor dot com and get the Impactor (which runs on your PC). Extract it (no install needed) and try the default exploit "# drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su". If it works, presto! You've got a working su binary and are rooted! Install e.g. SuperSU afterwards to give root access to other programs that need it. It's worked for me on two tablets so far (Sero 7 Pro and Sero 7 Lite) and I'm interested to try it on others!
(Oh, you'll need to have your device good to go for adb already too, for this to work. Seems like a pretty obvious thing to expect on XDA )

So I have rooted the sero 7 lt. This was achieved using cydia impactor - GOOGLE IT.
(see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340693 for instructions)
Its loading the custom recovery I can't figure out. Something to do with signature verification. The Cut and dry recovery included (hold volume down and power from power off till logo appears, then release power only. At android belly open screen hold power and press volume up to access menu.) Won't matter can't toggle signature verification. Nothing will install. SuperSU and BusyBox installed from within. There is half the battle... time to win the war.

IT is also posted here too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44446888&postcount=6
And that is the stock recovery you are talking about, all android devices have it. It is not possible to turn off signature verification within the stock recovery, hence the need for a custom recovery. The only thing you can flash within the stock recovery are OFFICIALLY signed zips made by your device manufacturer.

Hi,
I just got the HP Slate 21 and naturally I'm looking for a way to root it
I found a way to unlock it (I wrote a post about it here)
But anything else that I tried to root it - failed.
I tried the TN7 and the shield way (with the fastboot boot img) - the slate immediately reboots to android and ignores the image. I tried SRSroot - not working at all.
It seems that HP is back-porting security patches from 4.3 and 4.4 back to their Android 4.2.2, so no matter what I do to root, it simply fails.
Any suggestion how can I root it? (it's based on Tegra 4).

Hi... I also wanted to know.
But I gave the slate to a family member and it isn't mine anymore.
I also experiment to get root access.
I can succesfully get ADB access to the device.
I read your blog. The only thing i didn't do is that i didn't use the command "fastboot oem unlock"
I didn't heard before of this option to unlock your device... and i'm still learning more and understanding about android devices how they exactly work and how it is secured the recovery image and how it is stored blablablablabla
I used the software in this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092349
But didn't unlock the bootloader.
If I did. Maybe than with that chinees software from http://www.shuame.com/ you can succesfully root the slate?
Or am I totally wrong here?
I'm unable to test anymore because as I wrote, I don't have the slate 21 anymore.
Also I want to know where you can download the official ROM builds? They aren't @ HP support site.

The Slate 7 is based on Android 4.1.x and it's using a different chipset. The Slate-21 is using Tegra-4.
Also, it seems that HP rewrote the bootloader.
Last - this is HP, do you really think that they'll give any option to download the original ROM?

Unfortunately, the part with the fastboot command simply ignores the boot image and it doesn't upload it so it's just rebooting to the standard android desktop. Did you upgrade your firmware since the time you purchased it? Which version of firmware do you have?

Hi Guys,
i have the same situation: i want to modify the official rom downloaded from the HP Support site.
The rom i downloaded is like a normal rom, i can install it from the bootloader, but as soon as i modify it and resign it with a test key i can not install it
my aim is simple, i want to remove some apps and add my homescreen app, and use this device in my company as a full screen browser/html display
where do you suggest to start? unlocking it is enough, and than i can install my signed rom? (BTW the link suggested is broken...)
or find a way to root it?
thanks in advance
Thanks xdaca for the info.
In order to use the method xdaca mentioned in his reply, you'll need the restore image. You can download it here:

Also worth mentioning is that after editing default.prop you can better immediately skip to the section 'It didn't work?!' and follow instructions there.
Then after packing the root filesystem, you can skip compiling the boot image because the above mentioned fastboot command will do that for you before flashing it.

Yes, I had the same issue with SuperUser's su binary. That's why I said it didn't work out for me.
You are nearly there
Here is what you can do:
Go to chainfire's site and download UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.89.zip
Extract arm/su from it.
Now replace /system/bin/su on the slate with this binary and make sure it has the right permissions (chown/chgrp/chmod like before if needed)
Remove /system/app/SuperUser.apk
Reboot and rerun SuperSU.
Enjoy full control over your slate.
Sent from my Slate 21 using XDA Premium HD app
Yeah, I managed to run it but somehow when I did su - my adb stuck. reboot seems to solve the issue
This thing should be scripted. I don't mind writing a shell script to do that (with credits to you, of course). Anyone here want to write something in Batch for the Windows users?

I just learned the hard way that the hp recovery sucks beyond belief. Even the Xposed Disabler can not be used with it. I think I am going the matrix way (whiteboard.ping.se/Android/Debian) as that will double as an alternative recovery.

I tried rooting from a win 7 virtual machine running inside solydk. It wouldn't work. I reloaded my laptop because I need to maintain a copy of windows to adjust the emc on one of my Harleys. So 100GB partition for windows and the remainder of the TB for linux. Ran all updates on the laptop and installed busybox on the the tablet. installed kingo and rooted the pro 10. Not alot you can do once rooted except clean up some bloat and over clock the cpu a bit. Nothing for custom roms out there. I'm trying to find away to flash linux on it and do away with droid.
Did anyone try to put a custom recovery on it? We need to back up the system, root apps can render system unbootable not even after a reset unless u have a backup

No custom recovery here. Mine got into a little random locking up. I had to use the reset button to shut it down. So I factory reset it and am head to walmart to exchange it for another guinea pig to play with. I hope the one they set aside has the USB dock and keyboard and not the bluetooth one.
Lol, but that's what i was afraid of, i already returned my 1st because of the crappy usb placement on the dock, it broke or I broke it I don't know

My mom just got this tablet and its sweet but a lil too vanilla. Has anyone managed to shag an sbf or fxz? We need to worry about flashing stock before we get into root and custom recoveries IMO. I haven't looked too deep into anything but does rca even allow for unlocking bootloaders? Or do we need to look into SS or bootstrap? I'll be willing to help with development but personally I think a recovery to stock is the most important first step..
On a side note, I'm used to locked bootloader devices so I'm unfamiliar with Odin and unlocking things I always use safestrap or bootstrap.
Glad to know that there's at least a root method for this tablet because it does after all have nice specs.

I actually like it better than the one I bought my wife with the bluetooth keyboard. I picked up the new one yesterday and it is rooted. I took all the crap off it I didn't want. Installed some of the stuff I wanted for now. Still working on getting linux installed on it. I have the feeling this will be a rooted what it is, and I will have to buy something different down the road to be able to actually do what I want with it. This will work for now for the basics.
Let me start off by saying I'm new to the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 but I'm no newcomer to Android. I've been a member of XDA for some years now. Since before IceCream sandwich. I've done my far share to help out this community as it has helped me. I'm originally a themer, but lately been working on a few ROMs. Mostly tweaked based on stock, deodexed, zip aligned, debloated, and build prop mods.
My worth I bring to the table is I'm just BALLSY and experienced enough to try anything and flash just about anything. (With in reason of course). I seem to have acquired a unique talent to be able to unbrick every device that's been laid before me over the passed year or so as well as a few of my own. And have aided in the unbricking of several peoples device that have reached out to me on here.
So with this uncanny ability to be able to unbrick devices I took it upon myself to take a few stabs at gaining root and flashing CWM to my MT7-L09 without unlocking the boot loader. Due to reading post after post of people not getting replies from their emails to Huawei asking for an unlock code.
So now to the point......
I can in NO way take credit for this development nor do I take any responsibility for your actions or decisions to follow this guide unsuccessfully.
1. First I downloaded the 141 update with Supersu built in thats posted here in this forum and the Mate7.zip posted here as well.
Moved the 141 update with SU titled Update.zip to my sdcard/dload.
2. Went to settings/updater clocked MENU at the bottom, then selected LOCAL UPDATE.
3. After it completed (which took about 5 mins) I rebooted installed SuoerSu from the play store and SuperSu Pro. And opened to update binary.
4. Then used a Root Browser to locate the Mate7.zip that I downloaded earlier in the same forum. I then extracted its contents.
5. Download FLASHIFY from the play store. Grant SuperSU permission. And use FLASHIFY to flash the CWMRECOVERY.zip that was also in the Mate7.zip file that you extracted earlier.
6. And this is the most important thing. I don't know how many times I've seen people start modding and flashing then brick and ask for help only to realize "no I didn't make a backup". ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLING A CUSTOM RECOVERY. If you don't then you have no one to blame but yourself when you can restore.
So as stated above I had no hand in developing any of this. Its just a method I used to gain root, update, and gain CWM recovery WITHOUT boot loader unlock.
And here's the copied text from URYLDOR's forum where I found all the essential pieces I used to gain all this. I did not unlock my boot loader though. This method nor any other would work for me so I took a shot in the dark at my method just to get root, CWM, and update as well.
ALL THANKS SHOULD BE GIVEN TO HIM FOR HIS DEVELOPMENT and if my method works for you then youre welcome to thank me for it and it alone but thank @Uryldor too.

Here is the translated guide to unlock bootloader on European model from the link I posted earlier.
I’m not responsible of any damage made to your device.
Download, unzip and run the Huawei product ID generator then select Huawei Y300-0000 in the product model field. Paste your IMEI in the product IMEI field and it should give you a product ID. We will use it later.
Go to http://en.club.vmall.com/emotiondownload.php?mod=unlock&action=apply tick the box at the end of the Unlocking Agreement and click next.
Here is what to choose/write in the form:
Product type: Smartphone
Product model: Huawei Y300-0000
Product SN: The SN of your Mate 7
Product IMEI/MEID: The IMEI of your Mate 7
Product ID: The number Product ID Generator gave you.
Enter the captcha and click submit.
Now it should give you your unlock code.
Download mate7.zip from https://mega.co.nz/#!aB8mRATA!nY7VJPUEESxBv5iRZ95vORbcjUQwLoyEyHagPi6RMGI and unzip it.
Install the driver if needed by running Driver\all\DriverSetup.exe
Copy SuperSU-PRO-V2.09.zip to your sd card.
Reboot your Mate in fastboot by holding Volume Down+Power for 10 seconds and plug it.
Unzip Recovery_b119.zip, go to tools, hold Shift and right click then choose “Open command windows here.
Type:
Now your bootloader is unlocked. Don’t close the command windows, now we will install the ClockWorkMod recovery.
In the window type:
You can flash recovery_stock.img with the same command if you want to revert back to the stock recovery.
Now go into recovery by holding Volume Up+Power for 10 seconds.
Then go to:
Install zip>choose zip from /storage/sdcard1> SuperSU-PRO-V2.09.zip and select yes.
Reboot.
Your Mate 7 is now unlocked and rooted!
Thanks you save my life and my mate 7... work fine here
Did you not have to flash using the force update method? I installed 141 via the local update method (came from 137) and SuperSU fails to update the binary.

Yeah but I downloaded the 141 update that has root built in. I then used "FLASHIFY" From the play store to flash the cwm.IMG. I then booted to CWM then flashed the SuperSU.zip that's mentioned in the above thread. Then made a back up in CWM. Rebooted and didn't have to update binary after all that.
Warning. Do not flash CM-11 if you used my method to root and install CWM. I did and now I'm soft bricked. I think it has something to do with the boot loader not being unlocked. I'm stuck at the "Rescue Mode" screen with the error
Error!
Func NO : 12 ( Func_load_iom3)
Error NO : 1
It took cm-11 OK. Just didn't ever boot fully so when I went to reflash the 141 update to restore it or my backup it acted like it took that fine but upon first boot back to stock I ended up stuck in "Rescue Mode" and getting the above code. ADB not recognizing it since its in "Rescue Mode" which is basically fast boot. Some fast boot commands work like Fastboot update ....... And fastboot reboot. But not " fastboot flash " does not. And that's where I think the boot loader being locked is preventing me from fast booting anything to it.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Mmmmm... bad news men... I hope you can bring to life your Huawei mate again... I use you method and works fine... but I don't think flash any Rom... maybe you can try unlock your boot loader or use Huawei hi suite?
i was able to flash the 141 with supersu - but i wasn't able to update it, nor to flash anything with flashify because there are no root-rights - at least the phone still works
i successfully applied steps 1 and 2
3 downwards not usable (update supersu not working, even after reboot)
UPDATE: with the force update it worked
There is no cwmrecovery in the mate7 folder. Are you referring to the other recovery that isn't the stock one?

Yeah it says its a modified version of stock. Its cwm. Even has the logo
Question??? I installed this Rom and everything works fine... but if I delete a system app (Google maps for example)... the app is gone but when the phone reboot the apps appears again??? I use a root browser to delete the app... which should be the problem??? I am the only whit this trouble??
Will this method also work when you;ve updated to lollipop? I cannot get the unlock code from huawei for my mate 7, and do want to root!

Its because you have to also go into data/app and delete it there, and data/data and delete it there too. Then wipe dalvik and cache. Reboot. Done.

does anyone have stock recovery for B308 5.1??
Will unlock bootloader on this devices break up some features, as on Xperia devices (like DRM keys and so)?
Thank you!

Sorry just seeing this message. Yeah it was just released for pre sale yesterday. Huawei does in fact make the Nexus 6p and LG makes the 5x. I'm seriously considering getting the 6p....
Are you sure it works?
It works without unlock bootloader?
The 141, that the Russian guys, only the SuperSU app, but without the superuser binary, which will start during the boot process, it is not worth anything.
So much power could be any other rom.
The stock bootloader available in the boot process, and does not allow only the stock recovery.
Are you sure it works?
Hi,
I am following this link to root my new note 5 using the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo.../t-mobile-sm-n920t-root-methods-info-t3183805
Everything is fine until from step 5, I realized that the kernel, and the rest of the files, when trying to browse them from the phone on recovery mode and flash them, the extension will not even be read by my phone. Therefore I dont know what to do. the post said the extension is supposed to be zip but there are in in only two img files, which when connected to the phone, won't even be recognize. so how can i flash the phone?
please help,

Now I think I do have a clear idea o the issue: I followed all the steps this time
however, SuperSu would pop out at the end and when I check: root access denied: I think the previous root that I did not perform right, is the issue somehow. Is there any way to get rid of it or go around it?

Did you flash a kernel? If you did then download super su from the market and try TiBu again. The error means that TiBu was not given super user permissions. So either you dont have a rooted kernel or you dont have SU installed to grant the requested permissions. OR you have both and just didnt grant SU permissions when asked.

I did flash a kernel , and any other softwares provided under this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...easy-steps-n920t-aoge-odin-twrp-root-t3187422
Next, what do you mean by Supersu from the market? What is TiBu also?
Thanks for your contribution.

The market has a super user app for managing SU permission requests, you may already have it. It will look like a pound sign "#" and say super user or SU. If you dont have that app you need to download it. The developer is named chainfire.
TiBu is short hand for Titanium Backup
Waouh I am learning a lot from you guys. O, I will be looking for that SU with the # sign. It is definitely not what I currently have.
by this sentence: "OR you have both and just didnt grant SU permissions when asked." : do you mean that the phone may have already been rooted? without SU telling me? because honestly, I dont know whats wrong.

If you already have SU then you would have been prompted to grant super user permission by a pop up dialog. If you mistakenly select deny or wasn't paying attention (it has a time out that will select deny but only temporarily if no user input is selected). If you mistaken selected deny then you would need to open the SU app and remove the TiBu entry, restart TiBu and select allow.. That is only IF you have the Super User (SU) app installed..

Hi, I just realized that I am not done yet. More new issue with the phone. It looks I did not do something right or one of the softwares is not correct: after we rooted the phone yesterday, IO had it unlocked with the help of stilfilz. However, ever since , when I make phone calls, the phone would go off by itself after a while.
Have you heard of previous similar mistakes? If yes, any ideas about how to fix it?

You need a different kernel. You should give me the model number of your phone and I will point you to the most recent arter kernel. I am assuming you are rooted with noble which was known for kernel panic during phone calls which caused reboots

KingRoot Fidelity
Is it safe to root with KingRoot? Have been trying to figure out the best way root this phone for two weeks now, and trying to avoid KingRoot all this time.
Can you replace the KingRoot Binaries and Root Management Tools with the SuperSU ones?
Will Xposed Framework work on this phone? Really want AdAway, Greenify and Xposed Tweaks on the Vodafone Smart Ultra 7.
Thanks!
You can replace kingroot with supersu thanks to this app:
http://download.dlapk.org/?apkid=darkslide.com.supersume&ver=6.7&server=snah
I did not try the xposed yet.
But it should work properly.
Thanks for the reply,
I still feel skeptical about KingRoot, and there are reports that indicate that replacing KingRoot with SuperSU isn't that easy either, KingRoot seems to completely deny root once altered or removed, which makes it look even more shady, I really want root on this phone, there are tweaks I would love to do such as dpi change, remove the vodafone label on the statusbar and more, but I don't know if I'm willing to use KingRoot in the process. I'm used to SuperSU and Xposed Framework working flawlessly, so I'm really 'scared' on this one.
Thanks

Don't give up just yet, I do understand your desperation, as I feel almost the same as you, but you'll see someone will find a way, at least I hope...
This phone its awesome for its price point, and would be absolutely marvelous with all the tweaks and adjustments root brings to the table.
Who knows, maybe we'll have a full developed phone (custom ROMs, root, recovery, all of that good stuff), we can only wish someone works on it... :highfive:

I didn't, the phone came as it is out of the box, no software updates were made...
I guess we've found the issue, if the software versions don't match, that means everyone with yours (120FKN1) can root with KingRoot, and everyone with mine (060FFN1) can't...
I've got an issue in my hands I see...
