Hey all, I wanted to start Android app development as a hobby. I am very comfortable with C++, but I know that Java is necessary for Android. What parts of it will be important, and could you please recommend a good tutorial? Thanks.

I have been trying to get into making live wallpapers myself. I have been asking everywhere about what I need to learn to make a live wallpaper. I have no idea where to start or what to learn. I have posted several threads and ask devs in the market to & no one wants to tell you anything about where to start or what to use. I really don't understand why no one wants to help, especially here on a Developers website. Hopefully we can get a Senior member to give us some good tips.
I dont know how it is in different cultures..

I also thank people who post useful, valuable, or insightful information, even if I wasn't specifically looking for it. But I don't expect thanks in return, unless I do something similar.

Oh they don't bother me. I love 'em(see, you're totally rubbing off on me)! As long as you are posting questions, I will be there to help you find the answer.
Try looking again, or try a Google search. I did, and it took two seconds to see an answer, But you may have to... Gulp... read a bit... Next question, why did you settle on xboarders rom? Why not cm7 Nightlies, or weapon, or miui?

while you guys are on a roll, does the CM7 nightlies use the 5 gig extra internal storage? Or does it send all apps to the sd?

Ok OP, you just answered your own question: 2.3.3. Please stop posting stuff that can be easily found by surfing through the dev section for a bit. If you were to open, or maybe even look at (oh the horror) some of the threads in the dev section marked [KERNEL] and saw them labeled for 2.3.3 then you could have answered your own question without making yourself look stupid and gain a bad reputation.

O thanks I really didn't know cause some kernals said 2.3 then some had the Tom that its compatible with so I just posted this to make sure so I didn't brink my phone

I can understand that you guys get annoyed with him if he is just trying to get his post count up I really dont know or care if that is what is going on but come on stop picking on people who misspell unless it is really bad and you cant understand it. But if you didnt understand what the op meand in the first post then you are the idiot not him. I make spelling mistakes all the time sometimes it is because i am not so good with the touch screen and other times it is because I am too lazy to go back and fix it. Just ligghten up alittle some of you guys are tight asses and that is really getting annoying.

Some of his other posts have been damn near incomprehensible. It's the asking questions that have been answered before, and the demanding answers and links without searching, and the one that gets me most, being rude to people who are trying to help.
Maybe it's because I am an old guy but, I just don't think people should act that way especially in a community based forum where people try to help each other.
And he wants to develop a rom and i applaud him for that. But A) he is going to need to do some reading. And B) who is going to flash someone's rom when they can barely read the OP?
I am just trying to help him understand that there is a social code that should be followed.

I tried the faux kernel and my phone would not reboot properly. Either they are not compatible or i did the wrong wipe.
I noticed that the AOSP Style X Rom was removed from the development. I decided to look around for it online because I never saved it on my computer. I am simply re-posting it just in case anyone wanted to download it again.
For rom reviews, tutorials, and more please check out pozmanstutorials on youtube.

+1 to that. I have to agree here. airfluip1, you do have this attitude and although I can't tell whether it's bad or not because it's only letters, they may sound troll-ish or offensive. I have been a troll sometimes too, I admit, in extreme cases. I know it's frustrating to deal with lots of people and mostly when questions are stupid but that's something devs should be prepared for. I really don't mind because the attitude has been around for some time that I'm used to it and just not in developers, but users and specially those that think they are above others because they self proclaimed forum sheriffs.
Anyway... I look forward to more AOSP Style so take this as constructive criticism, if you want to. If not, it's OK too.
Why remove such a great rom? It disappointed me and I was lucky to find it on another site.

Because he wanted to remove it. There is other things behind it and unless he wants to air it out then no reason to. Also this is not your work so technically it doesnt belong here. Sticky in the forums states this.

Oh no, I'm so scared to get this removed. I clearly stated it wasn't mine. Just trying to help people out who never saved the rom to their computer. Its a good rom and I'm sure I helped a few people out who wanted it.

Mostly because of team nerd.
But I was just killing development on it so I could work on other more important things. Than I was banned from team nerd?!?
Idk why but they should realize that banning random people who they don't like isn't going to help development.

You gotta understand comeing into the channel and asking for CM7 updates every hour we clocked it u could actually set your clock to it. Doesn't Help development one bit. You are mad at team nerd for what? For banning you from there development channel for not actually contributing to development? Sorry to post this here but there is 2 sides to the story.

LOL yeah I noticed the ETA asking.
I've been in there a few times. Once to ask FB & Bryan where to post some logs for their review. The times after that was to just hang out, see what's being discussed, and socialize a bit.
My point is that at no time did anyone kick/ban me nor was anyone rude. It was pretty laid back.
If/when you're back in there Airfluip, just be chill & you will be treated with the same respect as you give others. Not trying to say anything against you by any means - just offering some advice from an old guy
PRO tip. If you had just idled in the channel you would've gotten all the info and updates you wanted. There are a few users who do this and they get the info they wanted because they just stay there and read what we have to say. Once I get back to my computer I can maybe let you join the channel muted. You won't be able to type anything but you will get your progress updates

I appreciate what these devs are doing to get ics on our phones. Quit being so pessimistic and ruining everybody's curiosity.

Don't ask for ETA. Ever.
Personally, me and a couple devs sat down and thought about starting a build.
We've got a half working kernel, but posts like "eta" always make us feel like dropping the project. It's extremely annoying.

How? If anything that would make me happy that people are excited and curious for the build to come out. Thats what posts are for tbh. To read and ask questions. If it bothers you so much I would just ignore the threads and work. I'm not trying to be rude but I just don't see why people being curious would upset somebody so much they want to drop all their hardwork. Anyways glad for the hard work you all are doing. Keep it up. A lot of people are excited and curious, nothing to get annoyed about.

Evanizer, buddy, developers dont like "eta's" because if they answer to one, another pops up asking the same question, plus people use that as a definate and start complaining when its not delivered. When the time is right the developers will give us news, they are giving the most important asset to this community...their time.
All we can do , is give them support and now and again some support ...GOOD LUCK DEVELOPERS!!
