My Sensation runs hot with GPS on too, I think its just in the nature of the device really. You could try undervolting and see if that helps. Maybe using an Anker battery would help your phone to run a bit cooler also.

I generally get the best temperature on HyperNonSense as it is a lightweight ROM with most unneeded parts removed. Try using Bricked Kernel and using something like Kernel Tuner you can globally lower the voltage by a set amount. In my experience with HNS and Bricked I could get about a -75mv undervolt and still be stable, but everyone's device is different.

very hot !

hi, i'm running android revolution HD overclocked with faux kernel at 1510 and i noticed that my phone is getting warm each time i use it ( gps, internet, games). when i play games i goes to 48° celsius. I am a bit worry about it. I'm thinking about overheat maybe ? is that normal ? do u have the same temperature ?
(temperature at home 28°c)
Try underclocking it to like 1.3 GHz, whenever I do that my device cools down and I don't notice a drop in performance....

Thanks for your answer, that's what i tried yesterday night, temperature goes to 44° when i play Xplane 9 or 3d games .... it's a bit less than 48° but it's still a bit hot .... ?!
Overheat is at 50° isn't it ??
To my knowledge the faux kernel has heat problems. I know I can't use it or my phone gets too hot. Have you tried using a different kernel? Unity or Stock even?

I for one have not had heat issues with the Faux v0.1.0 kernel. Granted, I have not played many intense 3D games, but I have played N64oid with Super Mario 64 for roughly 15-20 minutes straight and haven't noticed any difference in phone temperature. If anything, this kernel, for me, performs better than the stock kernel in terms of temperature.
Could I be the lucky one? lol
hi everyone,
i have tested 2 differents ROM : android revolution from Mike and InsertCoin from baadnews and i just tried with stock kernel ... and guess what ? and my phone is still hot when i'm using it ... about 43°.
any idea ?
hello every one
i had this issue even before i root my mobile
and i am using LeeDrOiD but it is really getting hot sometimes for many reasons
when i connect the WIFI and i am charging the mobile
when i play any kindof games for some time.
when i browse some applications
i hope this will be fixed it is something really bad!

than don't over clock.
over clocking is going to raise operating temperatures.
What is your goal with overclocking? Or you just hopping on the band wagon?

so why we are having a strong phone with all these specifications ??
even when i was on stock also had the sme issue
i think Q&A for HTC is really bad for this phone.
according to the number of problems this phone have(screen, heat, Dust under screen).
these problems happend for allot of people, just google it and you will see big result and i dont see any reaction from HTC!!!

i overclocked because i am a performance addict . always wants more you know but this time i think i will not overclock ,temparture are too high and it will end very bad !
I also noticed that the buttons ( home, back, search , menu ) always stay on when i use de phone, is it normal ? the lights should not switch off after a few seconds ?

Revolution HD 3.6.4 Users: What "stable" kernel are you running?

I have random boot loop issues every once in a while (once or twice a week) ever since flashing the Revolution HD 3.6.4 ROM.
I did nothing to the phone other than flash the rom and the 'recommended' radio, so whatever kernel came bundled with the rom is what I stuck with (I believe it's kernel 0.2.3.16 by faux123 according to the RevHD readme).
I'd like to attempt to eliminate this boot loop issue by flashing a different kernel but there are many out there. Can someone chime in and recommend a stable kernel, other than the 0.2.3.16, that you are happy with?
Other than the random boot loop issues, I'm really happy with this rom!
I used the default faux kernel at first but switched to bricked v1.4r1 after having major battery drain. Everything has been working perfectly for days and battery life is great. No problems at all
Bricked!!!
The first week I've used Faux... Its pretty good, but had higher drain with it.
Tried Bricked and now still with Bricked...
Odd that people are experiencing battery drain issues with the Faux kernel. Battery IMPROVEMENT was the first thing I noticed when switching to Rev HD.
I'll give Bricked a try. I avoided it till now... something about a kernel called "Bricked" that is non-confidence inspiring.
So I'm taking it Revolution HD and the Bricked v1.5 kernel play well together? Any recommended apps RevHD includes that I should delete due to compatibility issues?
I read someplace that Daemon Controller doesn't work well with Bricked, or may be I read it as works "better" on Faux...
Either way, all I need to do is make a Nandroid backup and flash with Revolutionary correct???
~EDIT~
It appears there's 3 Bricked kernels available. Which one do I want?

Yep, that's all you need to do. (At least, it's what I did and it work fine). I am also running bricked and I notice better life than Faux. Boots quicker too.
yup bricked worked for me too! with faux the battery drain was crazy!!!!
Faux 0.2.4 beta 3 seems to have cured the battery drain. Also, I am getting better performance with this kernel compared to bricked.

Do I need to wipe any cache files? The official Bricked thread doesn't make any mention of needing to delete anything.
How to install?
Just flash from recovery. Though it creates a boot.img out of the one on your phone while flashing, it should work with the majority of ROMs out there.

I used the stock and it was fine but alot of positive feedback from bricked
I'm using the one that came with the rom. Battery life isn't TOO bad. But I'm still patiently waiting for 3.6.5 that's supposed to be out today.
Bricked is easily THE Kernel to use!
Its stable as a rock - since I've begun using it I have never had a boot loop
I used to have V0.91 and it was soo smooth it gave butter a run for its money!
However, I'm not so sure about the new v1.5 Kernel. It doesn't feel as smooth as 0.91. I also had V1.4r1 which wasn't as smooth as 0.91 either.
I'm wondering if it's something i've done because everyone's raving about how smooth V1.5 is.
I'm still using bricked 0.91 and is rock solid.
No need to update to any other version or kernel because is so lighting fast that is not worth changing to something else.

I have used both bricked and faux kernels. Here are my observations: Faux is faster but has bad idle battery life. I actually get better awake battery life using faux. Bricked seems to be slower but I get amazing idle battery life.
I have used bricked 1.4r2 and faux 2.3b4, 2.3b16, 2.3r3, and 2.4b6.
If you use bricked be aware that not all phones can support the 320Mhz GPU version.
After installing ARHD , it ran well, fine battery life, no hiccups, after some days it started showing colours. Battery drain was major also the heat issue, non stable, read somewhere It's kernel issue so changed to briked kernel, guess what no issues.
Im using Bricked 1.5 @ 1.56Ghz but have tested up to 1.83Ghz without problems, works awesome. was using Bricked 1.4rc1, with the GPU @ 320mhz

+1
This is exactly what i experienced when comparing the 2. Although new faux kernel is only slightly worse idle battery life, no longer bad battery life
I'm using Bricked 1.5 with ARHD 3.6.5 and it's the best ROM/kernel combination I've ever used. Blazing fast and my temps never get above 25c (but temperatures dropped a lot anyway when I got the anker battery)
The First 5 nanoseconds I used the default Kernel coming with the rom...as soon as the 6th nanosecond was about to start, my battery jumped out of my Sensation XE, running around and tried beating me, giving me Bad names and so on...finally it begged for another Kernel...and I flashed 1.5 bricked one....the battery jumped back into my phone and feels very comfortable right now in combination...also with 3.6.5...so I do
well I gotta say, going from arhd 3.6.5 to cmd7 made a world of difference in terms of battery saving. maybe in the future I'll go back to arhd.

[Q] overclock 1.5ghz...yes or not?

hi, I'm running android revolution, the rom works fine...during the flash 4ext ask me what kernel I want, if stock or 1.5ghz...
what do you think about? battery? cpu damage?
all softwares run very well, I don't think is necessary to set cpu at 1.5....but have more power is better XD
suggestions? can I use any software to set the cpu clock?
I'm using vi4.0 at 1.512ghz. I'm actually impressed with the 13-15 hours of text/call/video/music mid to high usage.

but is better? more...reactive, speed?
I think 1.2Ghz is sufficient for a Sensation !
All games don't lag on 1.2Ghz..
I am also using ARHD 6.3 and overclocked to 1.83ghz. I did not notice a difference in battery life. But my phone is noticeably very fast! I am using "setcpu" apk.

You will notice a difference in speed and responsiveness! You can always try and if you don't think that it is worth the slightly reduced battery life you can always revert to stock! ( i'm running IC 5.11 on 1.5 GHz and i get 1.5 day with moderate to heavy usage ). Don't worry it is safe as the CPU of the sensation is meant to run at 1.5 GHz ( like the sensation XE )!
ok, I did it, works fine, very very responsive....that's good!....
but!....I want smartassv2!....smartass at least!...
here there are only default governors!
are there kernels compatible with android revolution?
and is not clear, setcpu works with dual core CPUs?

For battery life? isnt mdj's kernel overclocked? (GPU&CPU) Stock better i think.
Yes, it is overclocked but it can be lowered to 1.5 and has been tweaked to provide better battery life.
And its also known to corrupt internal storage

But GPU have to stay overclocked
I haven't experienced any corrupt internal storage issues with the kernel. I suppose that is part of the risk with flashing anything though.

You can always flash back to the stock kernel. I was also a little worried that OC'n everything would drain battery like crazy, but I easily get 1-2 days out of my phone. The biggest battery drain comes from the screen. If you're playing a game, browsing the internet, or anything else that requires the screen to be on while using the device... it doesn't matter if your processor is unclocked to 800Ghz, you'll only get a few hours (3-5) of battery life. There is no rom or kernel that is going to fix that.
If you think about it, overclocking the processor will allow you to do things faster and minimize the on-screen time.

Hi,
Play games =more cpu=more battery usage.
You cannot get away from that.
How long have you had this ROM and kernel.
You need to give them time to settle.
Battery works best after several cycles(charge/discharge)
Give it a chance...

I will set intellidemand with sio,min 192 or 384 and max 1118 for begin and see how it`s runs. It`s ok?And why gets warm?
It tends to get warm because CPU need to run quicker instructions.
If its sensation then bear with the slightly bad battery.
Because its a 1500mAh battery but needs to hold up a 4.3 screen.
Lower clock speed clean background apps before playing. It helps at least a little.

Hi,
It seems you are going the right way about it.
No 2 people use their phones in the same way,so battery life will vary, and there is no single setup that will work for everybody.
Keep trying different combination of ROM and kernel.
But give them a couple of cycles each, otherwise you will not see how they work properly.
