[Q] Is root required for installing CWM - Micromax A110

Can somebody please tell me is root required for installing CWM or by installing CWM on an unroot device you get to root your phone? Its very confusing, I read a lot of posts but they confuse me more and many of them have the same post copy pasted from the same source.

if your are on ICS rom then CMW not required to root but if you are on jelly bean rom then CMW is required to root, use SP flash tool to install CMW

Thanks buddy!!

[Q] Help : Cwm recovery in funbook p560 - ICS 4.0.4 (already rooted) not working !!!

Hi Guys , I have a Micromax funbook p560 (Android ICS 4.0.4) . I have rooted it already but unable to install clockwalkmod recovery. I have tried everything but it only boot into old recovery " android system recovery <e3> "..
I have already used lots of thing to install CWM recovery but nothing works.
Then I found from terminal that "/dev/block/nandg" is not there in /dev/block/ folder...
There is only mmcb1k0, mmcblk0p1 to mmcblk0p21 files (which i think responsible for recovery mode ) & loop files
So the bash script was not worked...
So kindly help me on this so that I can install CWM recovery.

You mean you want to make cwm your default, you might need to flash a custom kernel. Else you can flash cwm.zip via your stock recovery and enter cwm recovery and use it for everything you need.

i was searching for a solution for a friend who owns this device. he can't get either 3G sim or netsetter dongle to work on this. then, i saw this page: Upgrade/Update Micromax Funbook 3G P560 to 4.1 Jelly Bean. says something in there about using rom manager app to install cwm recovery.
post the results, if you try. include steps you followed to root and also link to the cwm recovery file.
btw, can anyone help with getting BSNL 3G SIM Card and MTS Huawei EC1561 dongle to work on this device? thanks.

Yes that is the what only can work ... I think some boot script overlap cwm with stock recovery...
So I tried CWM.zip file flashing through stock recovery and it boot into cwm but Interface is very large and many error pops up...(like /cache not found .. etc etc )
thats all because of the partition related... wrong mount points in recovery.fstab file in cwm.zip.
So I edited that file with my correct mount points....... but signature got broken .. &
I'm not able to flash the new Edited CWM.zip file, as stock recovery refuses because of signature error..
So is there any way to edit recovery.fstab file in CWM.zip without breaking signature or re-signing it ???
Kindly tell me .. It will be very helpfull..
Is there anyone using funbook 3g P560 with working CWM. I dint find anything bout it.. All having the same issue I think..
So Please help me on this....Thanks
Is anyone there can help me ???
what are the possible blocks for recovery ics 4.0.4 ???
Thanks

Hey, i have that tablet and have rooted it.
1. Download root master english.
2click root and follow what it tells.
3.download root checker.
4. Go in su binary it comes with it.
5. Give root permission to root checker and verify root in root checker.
6.its rooted but when you use a root apk a popup will come to allow root permission to that apk. If not then do the same check it in su binary.

Hi,
Rooting micromax a110 With jelly bean is a little tedious than others because micromax has changed some mount point permissions.
See this is the process you need to do in order to root, install cwm recovery etc..
1. Downgrade it to ICS (Ice cream sandwich)
2. Install CWm / Root the android
3. Install Jelly Bean Rom.
For a more detailed process, check my blog
you can get the download links here in Xda or google it.
If you didnt ge tthe links, message me.

moreover many guys have with pre built jb (4.1.1) on there fone have successfully rooted their device.. if u still find any problem in Rooting then follow this thread.

I followed the same thread earlier and tried with SP tools, but no luck, it gave me BROM error.
i also installed all the drivers mentioned, but no luck
then i did what i mentioned It worked for me. If other method didnt work, then ! they can go by this method for sure
If someone gets brom error then u can simply update the flash tools to latest version...
And u should ask in my thread if u get some error while following the procedure given by me.. .

Buddy...just enter recovery...you know how to enter Cwm right...then there is an option to wipe data/format. Select it to wipe data...this will reset your phone..
Thank me if I helped you...
@fonetalker101 To boot into CWM turn off your phone then turn it back on when you see sony logo continuously press volume down button untill you enter recovery. when installing CWM make sure you are "ROOTED" and have usb debugging checked in developer settings.

Need help, in rooting

I got galaxy s duos 2 i wnna root it plz help
I dont have a pc...
Some kinda one click root app or that update.zip process.... Plz help me
Any1? Plz
Its hard to root anything without a computer. there are apps that say they can root without a computer but not sure which would work best for you.
the best thing i advise i can give is to research (if you can) google, youtube, or even the XDA forums to see if anyone has found one that has worked for them.
Cant find root.zip method
Go to this thread for help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658817
Skip installing cwm, and go directly to flashing superSU.zip using stock recovery. Access stock recovery using either volUP+home+power or volDOWN+home+power
Hope this helps
