I have a stock AT&T S2 (I727) that worked fine. We're now in Costa Rica and I need it unlocked. I'm short on time and the local phone shop said they could unlock it.
They couldn't and gave it back, saying the battery was low.
Battery is recharged, but the phone will not turn on or show any signs of life. When plugged into the charger, nothing on the screen. No response to the reset button sequence.
I downloaded Odin and the S2 drivers and the phone appears, but it's in yellow. When I press the power button, Odin responds with a sound. That's it.
I have no idea what they did, but I know it sure not saving me any time!! Esp since ATT may have just given me the code....

Do you know how to use Odin? What is yellow? If it says COM port yellow that is a good thing, Odin sees your phone. You need it in download mode ( holding both volume up and down while phone is off and Odin on your screen plug it in to the computer, if they loaded a different ROM on it then only holding volume down might put it in download mode) then browse to your stock att ROM with Odin under PDA section and hit flash. Don't change any settings on Odin ... Only add a check mark to update boot loaders. Keep trying until you get a successful flash. After the phone AUTOMATICALLY reboots you can try the 3 button combo, get into recovery and reset to factory and reboot. Hope it helps ...

They bricked ur phone when they tried to unlock it, I almost guarantee it. You could've just purchased an unlock code off the net, but I digress. Keep trying to get the phone to go green in Odin. My guess may be the USB drivers you have installed are incorrect as well.

And sorry for the delay - we lost internet for a while when we got a new house (here in CR).
The shop is willing to try and fix the phone, but not sure I trust them but not sure of my abilities yet.
They said they just updated it. But that's not what they were trying to do - they were supposed to be unlocking it.

The wife's phone is the S2 I727 and it's dead.
I mentioned the S3 because it seems to indicate the computer has the correct USB drivers.

The ucmc1 tar file in your post is for the i727. If that's the phone you have then go ahead and flash it. If you have an i535 it'll probably brick your phone, don't flash it.
So I tried flashing it. Odin says 'SetupConnection', but then nothing else happened. It didn't pass or fail.
I'm not sure what to do next - I'm afraid to interrupt the process, but nothing is happening...

if the phone has no signs of life it is hardbricked as such odin/computer wont see it, jtag is the only way to fix it
So I guess at this point it doesn't matter what I do - just unplug it or shut down Odin first....
Interesting, Odin still sees it and COM is still yellow. But I don't hear a response from Odin when I press the buttons on the phone.
Trying again.....
Pull battery, hold both volume buttons and insert USB cable from PC..... Release volume keys after about 5 sec.... Push volume - key after that try to flash with odin

well i was using odin to flash and it said failed in red, then i tried again and odin acted like it started then no status bar on either my phone nor odin i waited... nothing so i waited more with no luck so i decided to try to reboot the phone and see where it left me. and it left me with phone..!..computer i tried to look around i saw something about a jig but im lost and scared is there anything i can do to fix it?
The good thing is, it's incredibly hard to truly brick the Captivate.
The bad thing is, I don't really have much of a solution for you at this time other than to try to 3-button it into Download Mode and THEN plug it into Odin. Beyond that, I don't know.

This doesn't belong in the Dev section.
What you have a is a soft brick. Try Odin again following theses steps.
1. Right-click on the Odin exe in Windows Explorer on your computer and select "Run as administrator" and then click OK to any prompts.
2. Hold both volume buttons in while connecting the phone to your computer's USB port.
3. When Odin recognizes the phone it will show Download mode on the phone.
4. Click Start in Odin.
Or, ignore all this help, and build the 301k USB do-hicky. See a post by me about bricking my phone. I've been building and selling these things. It's the only thing that works 100% of the time.

You don't need a jig for a soft brick.
i recently bought a samsung galaxy s 4g, and i used odin and flashed a sidekick (my brothers phone) rom on accident.
cant get to the download mode

cant power on the phone
it hasnt yet been 30 days since ive had the phone, so could i take it back to the store and just say its not turning on can i get an exchange?

It happens to me all the time. Just plug phone to computer holding volume up and down at same time. It shows the phone-cable-pc thingy and that's download mode. I went into that when I failed to Odin by mistake and just decided to try to Odin while in that "mode" and it did flashed. Hope this helped.
*Have Odin open before you plug cuz' that way you know it found the device.

Try this even if the screen stays black/off, as long as Odin recognizes it (You'll get the yellow box with COM# in it) these steps will help.
Ok guys after flashing Refuse v1.7 then getting struck at this screen "Post At Bottom" i can't get into recovery so i try to flash ODIN back to stock I'm still at this screen...can somebody help PLEASE!!!
Can you get into download mode? Have your phone turned off then hold the volume up and down and plug in the usb connected to your computer... Should show a yellow triangle with an android digging. This is what you should put your phone into for odin in the first place. Just read the odin back to stock threads and follow directions. If your phone is still turning on you should be fine.
Edit: I'm slightly drunk right now, so if this doesn't make sense to you, respond and I will help you in the morning. Btw, thanks for posting in an appropriate section.

yes i can get into download mode...but after installing ODIN all it do is go right back into the some screen..is there a fix for this or is I'm the first person with this problem
Is the phone showing up in the COM box in Odin? Also make sure Re-partition is checked.

My first guess is that you're somehow doing something wrong with Odin.
In the case of Samsung Galaxy series phones (and ours is basically a GalaxyS variant), your phone is only truly bricked if it shows no signs of life at all (black-screen hardbrick).
If you can get into download mode (either digging android, or the "phone to PC" icon), you're not bricked.
Beyond that I can't really help you - I manually did the unbrick recovery using heimdall instead of odin.

That is a Samsung Captivate in the video not an Infuse 4G. It looks like your trying to flash an Infuse rom on a Captivate.

Whatever it is, it's not an Infuse. Our MicroUSB port is at the bottom of the device, not the top.

Good Morning Everyone, This is my first post. I try to never post just read. I have read and read but to no avail. I have a AT&T Samsung infuse 4g. it WAS running froyo. What I mean by WAS, is that I was trying to install the modded 3e recovery so I could install clockworkmod recovery. During this process I read that I need to mount the /system partition as read/write I did this using the tool box that was created by some of your developers. It is awsome by the way. Well I did that and put a new recovery file in the /bin but it did not work as the website claimed so I thought well I should delete the old one. Bad Idea when I did the reboot it stopped me at the samsung screen. I tried to hard reboot it pulled the battery talked to it with a really kind voice and nothing happend. So I decided to use GEG's Ultimate Unbrick because this has worked for me in the past when i have messed up. So I put my phone into download mode and started the process with Odin. And here is where it gets bad.... one of my children was talking with me during the process and he decided to unplug my phone.. AHH EFFFFFF! I thought. Well when I tried to fix it it was to late. My phone will no longer turn on or even pretend to start. I am broke and cannot afford a new phone plus my wife would kill me seeing we have 6 children and it is right before christmas if I came home with a new galaxy note 2 Please Please can any one help a desperate dad with a busted Samsung Infuse. Thank you all for this awesome website that has taught me alot.. Please dont kill me for posting something someone has already posted because I could not find anything that was helpful for this situation with my phone.

Okay now I have really done it this time. So I worked a 18 hour day and thought well instead of getting some rest i will install Gingerbread on my infuse. To make a long story short while I was using odin to install it paused for a long time at the format stage, so I thought well I will just turn it off even though it says not to and then.....well it did a rainbow colored screen I tried to figure it out last night with no luck. So I have been working on it all morning the rainbow screen is gone but now it just goes from black to all white screen. I have tried every possible way to get into download mode with no luck. Am I screwed or what? Does anyone have any suggestions. If I am out of luck does anyone know if bestbuy's warrenty covers rooted phones that are [email protected] bricked?

It still will not get me into download mode it is powering on and off connecting and disconnecting I have the drivers installed I have tried gtg's guide I have tried qstars one click nothing is working. These have worked for me in the past but that was because I can get into down load mode. Unfortunately not any more Is there a way to make the phone stay on and connected so it stops going black to white to black screen? I am so bummed out! I have been reading for so many hours my brain hurts. I have learn a ton but I can't do anything with my new knowledge with no phone!!!AAAHHHHHH

Qkster its a honor to have you comment on my thread, Unfortunately Im not boot looping to the samsung logo it is just a black then white then black back and forth taunting me with every blink. I did read the thread about the power button earlier though and that is unfortunately not the fix either. I do appreciate the input you guys really do try and help! Maybe you can answer a question for me is there a way to get to the phone through command prompt? I really need this phone fixed. My wife has been telling me I shouldnt be messing around with it because im gonna break it. I really dont want to tell her she was right. I will never hear the end of it lol!

I'm not sure what happened to your phone. The Infuse is pretty sturdy. Flashing should not cause much of an issue. The faulty power button and corrosion of the circuit board were the most I've seen reported.
This is what I use to force the phone into download mode:

Once in DL mode, it's a matter of choosing Odin or Heimdall to bring it back to stock.
One other thought, try a different battery as well.

Then I tried to flash another ROM on there and while it was flashing, I went to the store, and when I came back it said failed. Then it would only go into the other download mode. The one that has this (phone...!...PC). It wouldnt show up on odin 1.7 anymore. So I ended up trying a USB cable for my HTC evo v, and the drivers installed, then it popped up on Odin. I used G2G's Ultimate Unbrick (dude is a f-ng genius, all credit goes to him) and instead of putting the pit, PDA, and phone file on there and flashing, I flashed one at a time......then....I went back and flashed all at once and everything worked perfect. If your still having trouble with it, I can tell you exactly how I did it, and maybe that will work for you. Sorry to but in on this post and sorry it was so long of a reply. I just no what its like when you half brick an infuse. Mine was like that for 6 months because I couldn't get any computer to recognize it. But anyway, I hope I was helpful.

Well im going to give it a shot I still have the old infuse I tried to make my own jig which didnt work for me so I took it into bestbuy and they gave me a brand new phone and in all of the hustle and bustle of christmas shopping going on around me they did not take my bricked infuse so now I have a spare to tinker with. Thanks I will definately give it a try and report with my findings

Ok first I downloaded the unbrick package from this website. I downloaded the drivers for the infuse (not sure exactly where I got them from). I would just Google them. Then I tried every USB port on the laptop. Then switched cables and it finally worked. Opened Odin 1.7 and clicked pit, then flashed. Then I unplugged it, took the battery out and put back in and tried to boot. Didn't work. Then flashed PDA. Did same steps as before and still didn't work. Then flashed phone file. Tried to boot and still didn't work. Then I flashed all 3 files at once. Also, not sure if you know or not but the only thing that should be checked in Odin is f: reset time. Then the phone booted up and it stayed on at&t screen for about 5 minutes then finally came on. Also, you could also try to flash this other PDA file on there. I have the link saved on my computer but I'm not at home right now so I'll have to post that later. In easier steps
1. Put phone in Download mode and plug into pc.
2. Run Odin as admin and only thing checked is f reset time.
3.Flash pit then try to boot
4. Flash PDA then try to boot
5. Flash phone then try to boot
6. Flash all three at once
7. After flash While in download mode, unplug USB cable, take battery out and put back in
8. Reboot phone.
Sorry everything is all jumbled, I just got back to my home state from a road trip and I'm running on about 6 hours of sleep in 3 days. I hope this works for you. Also, there is a video on YouTube of a unbrick service for the phone. Its $30. I personally would not try it but its just an idea if you would want to.

I had the issue where I had the phone, the exclamation mark, and the computer symbol (The Black Screen of Death: Imaged Attached), that is all it would show when I turned it on. I thought the phone was completely bricked until I did the following, which put it into a hidden download mode and allowed ODIN to recognize it. I DID NOT NEED TO BUY A USB JIG.
1. Make sure you have Odin already downloaded and ready to go.
2. Remove the SIM and SD Cards
3. Load up Odin and make sure it is up and running on the computer. DO NOT plug your phone into the computer yet.
4. Reinstall the Battery and plug the phone to the USB cable to the computer.
5. Hold down both Volume keys and then push and hold the power button
6. Keep holding the buttons until it goes to black, KEEP HOLDING A SECOND TIME until it goes to black and the icon comes back on.
7. Now when it goes Black the second time release the Power button only.
8. You should now be in Download mode. The key is holding the buttons, letting it go to black once, and then letting it go to black again, and then release only the power button while your fingers are still on the volume buttons.
9. Now Odin should recognize the phone on a Com port (turn yellow).
10. You are now ready to return it back to stock.

Yes I tried to make my own jig but my fat shaky hands could get the end of the wires to hit the correct contacts so I ordered one online and that got me into download mode! Now I'm running jelly bean! Thanks to everyone that helped out I love you guys!!!! PS. Don't skip backing up your efs folder!! Unless you want a headache. But with all my problems it has taught me a lot. My number one tip is to read read read there is always an answer! Thanks again everyone! Always hit the thanks button its the least we can do for all of these brilliant hard working developers.

I upgraded from Beanstalk to CM 11. I lost my IMIE after the flash. I used odin to return back to stock, then checked and the IMIE was back. Up graded that to Vahilla Rom, and the IMIE was still there. I went back to Beanstalk, and lost the IMIE again! Used Odin to return to stock, the phone booted up just fine, the IMIE was back. Went to power up in Recovery to flash Vahilla Rom again, and the phone would not power up. Removed the battery, held power button in for a few seconds, put battery back in, still no power up. Plugged phone in to computer, the computer comes up with "Unreconized USB" but will not load drivers. Phone still does not turn on. Left battery out for awhile(an hour) still no power. The battery had 80% before I started all of this! Sorry this is so long I wanted you to know every step I took. I'm at a loss of what to do now. Any suggestions? I am on the SGS4G.

No. it didn't, but I have recently corrected it, flashed CM 11 successfully, and we are back in service. Micro USB jig saved the day!

So i have flashed SGH-T959 to my SGH-T959V. Hard bricked with no response even with USB Jig.
I have seen success stories with other galaxy users debricking their phones with SD cards without any need for J-tag.
See the links below to furthur understand my request for a SGH-T959V owner to "export" necessary unbricking files.

Hi everyone,
I need help. I have a Samsung galaxy s 4g (SGH-T959V) T-Mobile, while flashing clockworkmod through Odin v3.07 on it, I messed up with it. It has gone on an emergency mode, all I see on it is "mobile exclamation mark computer sign' on it. It doesn't go on download mode anymore, I tried pulling the battery out, pressing volume down and power button, volume down, up and power button. Nothing works, it always ends up on 'emergency mode'.
Please assist me to restore it back. Much appreciated.
That screen that you see may be an alternative download screen/mode. Does Odin connect? Yellow block lite? If so, flash away
