It is worth a try.

Google your carrier name + apn or call your carrier to find the right ones. And within the rom they will be located in
Settings - more - mobile networks - access point names.

Every phone on every carrier has a similar technical alphanumeric title for it's name. Nothing new here. The noob way for you to know exists, it's just called a Galaxy SIII.

[Q] lte

Hey, my lte isn't working... The only APN that works at all is "ATT PHONE" even Odin flash to stock didn't work.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I'm confused... what is your problem? Not being able to flash stock ROM or not having LTE? Also which ROM are you using?

I'm sorry for the confusion. I have tried all of the ROMs, and none were connecting to lte, I eventually took it to an AT&T store... I had a 3g only plan from my iPhone. :banghead:
They fixed it. Now I get lte speeds.

It is impossible. It's not a software thing, it's a hardware thing. It cannot be done.

Use this method if you are on the old updates, if you are on the MF1 update. just pop in the micro sim from AT&T and select GSM. You can edit the APN on the latest update. but no 3G
Everything should work

Curious though. Couldn't I downgrade my phone and then use the dialer code to get into the secret menu and unlock it that way?

I'm thinking that the menu won't show in older versions. Going by the guide IF you're not on the MF1 update would be the best way.

You can always try. I've never tried anything outside of LiquidSmooth v2.7. I just got my S3 a week ago. Haha. I'm sure it should work on any AOSP or AOKP ROM... maybe. :what:

Actually, now that I'm looking back on the guide and in the video... they do it on the stock TouchWiz ROM.
I've seen somewhere, unfortunately I can't recall where, that you can do it on AOSP and AOKP ROMs too. Hmm... maybe ask on the thread of the ROM and someone should be able to tell you.
And make sure your friend knows that if he does get it working that he will have edge data. He may be better off trading his S3 for an AT&T one.

Is it a SGH-i8160 ?
Hi yes it is I am trying to help my brother flash a custom rom on it with the little knowledge I have.
Do you know if the network will still work OK? And would you know why when he's downloading a rom using goo manager it downloads then just hangs on the md5 check. He's got stock 4.1.2 rooted.
Thanks

Which rom do you want to install?
If it's rooted already it should be fine. Try to look for the radio files for your device online.
