[Q] XenonHD - HTC Pico (Explorer)

I could not post in the roms dev thread, so i will post it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326223
^ this is the original dev thread.
I have a problem, could somebody with this rom's gapps post me a link, and alternative link, cos whenever i try to download it from that site, it gets stuck at 99%, and never completes.
my other question is, what do i have to do for a clean install?
i mean, im running CM9 on my Explorer with ICS, i have link2sd, with an ext partition, but what do i have to do with it to install the new rom? do i have to delete that partition?
can someone please describe the full procedure? Thanks in advance,
cheers from greece, vivalaflam

For clean install reboot in recovery, format data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and format system and boot..
Download stuck at 99. I think you are using IDM. That has a problem like that. Update it if not.

Still, do i have to delete my ext partition? do i need to do anything else after flashing the rom? im kinda confused, cos in the dev thread says nothing but to just flash the rom and the gapps, nothing else besides that.

one more one more, god, i became good at aksing things lol
uhm do i have to flash a new kernel or something?
EDIT: I managed to download gapps through my phone.

no problem
download a custom ROM (I'd suggest a sense 3 one look at index thread on development for your options) to your sd card
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
flash the custom ROM
Or if you have a backup simply restore that

Well when you do a factory reset and anything else you'll lose all of your information but it can be very easy to recover. If you added a Google account to your phone then your contacts will be backed up and your apps redownloaded and anything on your SD card will stay there. All of the stuff from the Google account will come back after you have added the SAME Google account to the phone during setup which is done when you flash a new rom.

Well I'm not too sure, especially with your phone but this is what should happen, reboot into recovery, do some wipes then flash the roms and reboot, if it comes up with a problem DURING the flashing then redownload the rom. If the case is that your phone doesn't boot fully then the problem is that you are using the wrong firmware because you are using a Rom with a different android version. If this didn't solve it then try asking in the sgs2 forums because I don't know too much about your phone

First, boot into recovery. Not sure how it works on the sgs2 because I'm running an Incredible 2, but it should be by holding the power and volume buttons if you can't get there from ROM manager.
Second, wipe data/factory reset.
Third, wipe cache partition.
Fourth, advanced/wipe dalvik cache.
Fifth, mounts and storage/format system.
Sixth, install zip from sd card.
Seventh, install gapps if it isn't in the ROM.
Eighth, reboot.

I flashed superwipe then flashed ROM then did "reboot now"
Its been 20 mins still stuck at HTC boot screen.
Please tell me what to do
take out the battery reinsert it and just turn it on, don't go to recovery, if again stuck on boot screen, try flashing again both things, but AFTER superwipe, wipe sd ext manually, AFTER flashing the rom, do factory reset. If this doesn't help choose another rom. Also same thing may appear if your sd isn't partitioned corectly, how did you did it?

i havent partitioned my sd card. Its fat 32
I am also a noob
jaydenmonckton- No it won't wipe the rom, it maybe will just rearange some files, about superwipe, it sometimes gives error about sd-ext which users almost never see, my advice was to do it anyway cos it won't do any harm.
praveenbusy- Exactly from that you have errors, every rom which has preconfigured some kind of script requires sd-ext partition, which is almost every 2.3.5 except stock ones. I say almost, because jaggy's 2.7 and earlyer builds, a2sd gives some errors and after that rom is usable, I think Ateeq's also was working but I'm not sure about it . Definetely it's better to repartition your sd with ext partition.
I once tried to make a clean backup of my stock rom....so i wipe data / factory reseted and then backuped !! But i coundnt restore that nandroid, always get in a bootloop !

whenever i try to do partition with Minitool its gives me Error code :16
dont know whats the problem
My is a 4gb card i use a memorycard reader .I tried doing ext4 partition of 1 gb with no luck.
Do it from recovery, you just have to keep in mind that your WHOLE sd will be erased, so if you have something important on it, move it.
jaydenmonckton- did you turn on the phone after factory reset, because if you didn't it's normal to give you bootloop now, I don't have any ideas why it's doing this, it shouldn't, if you say exactly(step by step, everithing) how did you make the backup..... then it's possible to figure out what's wrong, if you are interested thou.

For me I had to wipe all the directories first before flashing the rom or else wiping from inside the aroma installer made all the files not copy over. My suggestion is to try to wipe the directories first ( ie. wipe cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, wipe /system) then start flashing the rom and click no wipe from inside of there. this is wht works for me everytime through twrp. Maybe it works correctly in cwm. I just have more luck with twrp when flashing.
Paul
follow all recommendations above and try wiping everything 2-3X

[Q] ROM Flashing Question

Okay, So I have a Galaxy S III for VZW(SCH-I535) and I was wanting to flash a ROM but I do not know how. I read guides but I really don't wanna ruin my phone. Is there any ROMs that I can use with Odin that would be easier. I want to use the Latest Liquid Smooth ROM. Is there any way I can do this easily WITHOUT worrying about screwing up my phone?

That's not really necessary it's very easy. To flash roms you flash zip files, then your recovery does the work to copy all the files in that zip to the correct place, then when you reboot you have your ROM. So for liquid smooth here is my tutorial: 1. Download Liquidsmooth, the download link is in the OP of the LS thread, also download Google apps, you'll see download links for that in the LS thread, it's something you need for AOSP ROMs. 2. Both will download as a zip file, don't extract it and copy the 2 zips to your phone's SD. 3. Boot into recovery, select Wipe and choose the options data, system, cache, and dalvik. You will always check these 4 before flashing any ROM. No more and no less. 5. Choose the flash option, in the file manager find your liquid smooth zip, confirm flash, and let it finish. You are now on liquid smooth hooray but you are not done. 6. Since you're on AOSP you do not have Google apps which you need or you won't have a play store app. So now flash the Google apps zip the same way you flashed liquid smooth. Now reboot and voila. That is how you flash any ROM. But for touch wiz ROMs you do not flash Google apps.

Yup those 4. I think the ROM will wipe system for you but I like to wipe it anyway. Make sure you don't accidentally select "internal storage" cause that will wipe your SD card. Then after that you'll have nothing installed and that's when you install your ROM. Don't forget to install the gapps zip too after.

What was the name of the gapps zip you installed? It should be called "gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip" you might have gotten a bad download with your ROM or your gapps or both. You can check the md5 to see if it matches. It if doesn't match you have a bad download.
