Unresponsive touchscreen - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have asked this question in the Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368547
Hi all.
I rooted my note 10.1 yesterday using instructions from
[RECOVERY][RootGuide][ALL NOTE 10.1]Official CWM Recovery Touch & Non-Touch 6.0.3.1
I had to reinstall standard recovery to allow OTA updates. Today I reinstalled the custom recovery by using the above method to regain root, but the touch screen is now not working. All other functions, including spen solar to be working. I have reinstalled standard recovery, done a factory reset all to no avail. Does anybody have any advice on how to fix?
Thanks on advance

Have you tried unrooting your Note 10.1 by installing the latest factory ROM for your model Note 10.1 and then doing a factory reset?

Hi KK,
just got in from work so can now download rom's.
can i check a couple of things first. the rom i am going to install is this from here:-
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=16810
Thats for a UK N8000 - thats the correc tone?
Can i install this via recovery? Another mentions installing via [root] Mobile ODIN Pro.
Many thanks

Well, followed the instructions here:-
http://theunlockr.com/2013/01/14/how-to-unroot-the-samsung-galaxy-note-10-1/
installed the factory rom from samfirmware.com via odin, still no touch screen. What could i have done that stops the touchscreen workin even after a stock rom reflash?
ps SPen works fine.

Those directions do not tell you to do a factory reset ....... You know some software blocks screen touch when using S-Pen so if you did not do a factory reset after flashing the factory firmware you need to.
Is your Note 10.1 acting like it knows when you removed the s-pen and put it back in?

If you flashed a factory rom you would have removed root and CWM or did you root again after installing factory rom?

Yep,
have atteempted reflashing standard recovery, clockworkmod recovery, high on android recovery, standard rom, android revoultion rom. all installed succesfully put touch screen is still not working. the spen sensor detects when the pen is removed / inserted, and i can use the touchscreen via the pen. i think this rules out hw fault, but since i have tried to reinstall recoverys and roms to no success no idea what to try next (apart from retur n to store, but i have already returned once due to faulty simcard slot, and they didnt want to replace in-store as it was a marked down item when i bought it...)
Thanks all for the advice so far. Any ideas?
to clarify the touch screen stopped working immediately after flashing a custom recovery via odin.

took it back to store for replacement,
now im trying to decide whether to risk flashing again....

I have use the method Zedomax shows in this video as well as his files to obtain root several times without issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIYiXzcW7xs But as you know there is always a risk of damage when doing mods to your device so ........... it's up to you if you want to risk it or not.
If you decide to obtain root again here are a few links that have been helpful to me. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

[Q] DXLP8 issue + flash back to stock ROM DXLP7

Hi,
I bought a P6800 (came with DXLP7 ROM, Singapore version) one month ago. Its WIFI worked great in my work place but wifi could not connect to my router at home. I received OTA updates(~20 MB) few days ago which updated the ROM to DXLP8. DXLP8 solved my wifi connection issue at home but wifi connection is much slower now when I use it in my work place. I’d like to flash it back to stock ROM DXLP7 (found on sammobile.com) since I mainly use the p6800 at work.
Here is the status of the P6800:
• Stock ROM ICS 4.04 DXLP8
• Rooted using this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849235)
• Factory reset using “setting”->”backup and reset”-> factory reset
• Factory reset in recover mode (hold volume up and power button->Select wipe cache, Select wipe data/factory reset)
If I flash ROM to stock ROM DXLP7 using odin, will that brick the P6800? Please help.
Many thanks
John
The dangerous part was the factory reset on stock kernel.
If it survived that you should be ok to flash.
You can always install and run the emmc brick bug test app from play store
since you are rooted, just to be sure.
Anyway, avoid to factory reset the P6800 it can kill your device anytime.

Thanks friedje,
I'm a newbie to Android. I will do emmc brick bug test to check it. and I will not do factory reset again.
Thanks again!
Not so much to do with being newbie, samsung screwed up the Galaxy note and the P6800 (amongst others) , by putting faulty emmc chips inside. Under Gingerbread or Honeycumb there is no problem, but with ICS a factory reset can hard brick your Tab.
Since I own both, I need to betwice as careful

Hi friedje,
I checked the emmc bug it showed no issue. I successfully flashed the ROM to DXLP7.
BTW, I have a note too, looks we have the same interest on those gadgets.
Many thanks for your help!
You may try the SkyHigh version of LP8.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1978573
It has some tweaks to the rom.

[Q] help needed to unroot GT-N8013EAYXAR

I rooted my Galaxy Note 10.1 about a year ago. I want to bring it back to original unrooted factory settings. I assume that I need to remove the following apps:
SuperSu
SuperUser
Titanium Backup
Triangle Away
I ran the triangle away program and now when I hold down the power and volume down buttons until I get to an Odin screen, it appears that I have no counter problems, it all shows "official", which I guess is good.
I am not sure what steps I need to take next. Should I be uninstalling the above software in any particular order? After that, how do I go about getting the original stock software reloaded again? There is nothing critical on the device that I am worried about from a backup point of view and I know that I can have all of my apps recovered from Google Play.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Run TA flash stock rom via Odin and factory reset is the basics .
Check custom in download mode and in settings about device Status .
What do you mean by "TA", Titanium Backup? In any event, It appears that I was successful in removing SuperSu and all of the other root related apps and I was able to get back to the stock rom. I would, however, like to understand your approach for future reference in case I decide to root again and then need another return path back to stock.
Thanks

Here is the latest factory firmware for GT-N8013 (WiFi - USA) N8013UEUCMI3_N8013XARCMI3_XAR.zip if you need it.
It maybe better to get a 10 GB free storage account on pCloud before downloading as you could then just do a transfer (much faster) and have the file on your own account.

[Q] Default Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (GT-P6210) will not flash or Factory Restore

I've been asked to look at a friends Galaxy Tap 7.0 plus (GT-P6210) tablet as they want it restoring to factory defaults.
I've tried the basic factory Restore but this goes through the motions and then when it reboots all previous apps and settings are back.
I've tried to flash the firmware from the Samsung firmware site using the SD Card method and using ODIN but still get the apps and settings back.
Think I'm ready to use it as target practice.
Anyone come across this before?
Seems like it is locked in some way but no idea how. I've not had much experience with Samsung's just cheap nasty Arnova tablets.
Cheers

I reflashed the Stockrom Image N8020XXUDNF1_N8020DTMDNF2_N8020XXUDNE3_HOME.tar.md5 from German Telekom via Odin 3.09 (tested Wifi fully functional), booted, flashed latest philz_touch_6.48.4-n8020.tar.md5, made a full wipe/clean install, Cache wipe, Dalvik Cache wipe and installed your Gnabo.V7.N8020.zip in cwm, after reboot already after first language selection Screen there is no Wifi, Wifi Switch falls back to off. What I am doing wrong? Is there another stockrom Image I should try? Or is it a bug?
I saw there is already a wifi fix for the 8013 (GT-N8013-KK-WiFi-Fix.zip), but it doesn't work for this device. Maybe it's a similar issue?
This Rom looks very nice, I would like to install, but I need a working Wifi! Thank you!

Solved
Read a post with a similar problem with galaxy s3. The solution for me was to flash your deodexed StockromN8020v1.zip in between the Odin Flash from Stockrom kitkat and make a full wipe/factory reset in CWM before and after the Flash. Then I did a complete Setup in the deodexed Rom, went back to recovery, made another Full wipe and then installed your Gnabo-Rom. Now Wifi is working, everything perfect except the signal bar as noted. Finally happy! Thank you for the Rom!

If you flash one Wifi-working zip like the stock.n8020.v1.zip-Rom deodedexed from Smegg inbetween, doing a full wipe before and AFTER the Flash, rebooting, setting up your wifi at the Welcome Screen, then booting in CWM again doing another Full Wipe and than flashing the Gnabo-Rom, your Wifi-problem would be gone. I had the same Problem, now Wifi is fully working. Regards

Thanks
new snote app
While using the new snote app I discovered, that old snb files or imported pdf files are displayed very unsharp, especially when you zoomed in, at least in comparison to the old snote app. Could it be because of a smaller display Resolution on the Gt-N8020?
Fixes dont work for me
Hi!
First of all thank you for your work, seems like an astonishing rom (so thanks to Mikyno as well).
Unfortunately I also have the wifi issue. If I then try your version, govinda9, then I even do not have any wifi connection on the Smegg 8020v1.zip. Do you have any clue what else could work?
Smegg, as you mentioned you had these problems in the beginning as well, how exactly did you fix it? Which settings did you restore via Titanium Backup?
Best regards,
PW
P.S: also had some problems before with the Samsung stockrom from 27/11/14 (would not boot after flashing a rom). If anyone encounters this as well, use the stockrom N8020XXUDNF1 from 04/08/14
WIFI Fix
What I did is, making a full wipe before and right after the deodexed Rom Flash, only booting back to recovery in between. I used Philz latest 8020 recovery. One point would be to first do a full wipe with the stockrom recovery before you flash Philz recovery and do the procedure again. The wipe on stock recovery has a different effect to the wipe on custom recoveries, at least what I have found out. Another Point is, that wifi should work at least in Stockrom, otherwise there could be a hardware failure. Maybe this helps!

Are you coming from a stock 4.4.2 Rom?
Did you do a fullwipe before flashing? Sometimes it is helpful to wipe again after flashing.

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Has a Full 8GB storage after failing to install TWRP. Help!

I have tried following these threads to root my tablet but after a ton of failed attemps and a number of flashes back to stock my computer shows that my hard drive on my tablet is down to only 8GB and that is full. I'm sure if I could get twrp to work I could repartition and wipe the whole thing but I am completely out of doing it on my own now and need help.
Did stumble over the same problem while trying to root myself a few days back.... I don't remember 100% what I did to get it back to normal but I think it was just a normal factory reset from within android itself.
^This worked for me as well, simply doing a factory reset. And mega thanks to Jaine cause their post helped me heh.
Hi. Anyone can to tell me how to install TWRP correct? Where find it ? I am P615. Please help i want to install custom rom.
