[Q] help needed to unroot GT-N8013EAYXAR - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my Galaxy Note 10.1 about a year ago. I want to bring it back to original unrooted factory settings. I assume that I need to remove the following apps:
SuperSu
SuperUser
Titanium Backup
Triangle Away
I ran the triangle away program and now when I hold down the power and volume down buttons until I get to an Odin screen, it appears that I have no counter problems, it all shows "official", which I guess is good.
I am not sure what steps I need to take next. Should I be uninstalling the above software in any particular order? After that, how do I go about getting the original stock software reloaded again? There is nothing critical on the device that I am worried about from a backup point of view and I know that I can have all of my apps recovered from Google Play.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Run TA flash stock rom via Odin and factory reset is the basics .
Check custom in download mode and in settings about device Status .

What do you mean by "TA", Titanium Backup? In any event, It appears that I was successful in removing SuperSu and all of the other root related apps and I was able to get back to the stock rom. I would, however, like to understand your approach for future reference in case I decide to root again and then need another return path back to stock.
Thanks

Here is the latest factory firmware for GT-N8013 (WiFi - USA) N8013UEUCMI3_N8013XARCMI3_XAR.zip if you need it.
It maybe better to get a 10 GB free storage account on pCloud before downloading as you could then just do a transfer (much faster) and have the file on your own account.

It looks like Sam Mobile has the firmware data base working again so go to this link http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/and use the firmware checker to download your file.
I believe my file is correct but as sammobile site is back up I'm deleting my link.

Rooted Tablet went bad...

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 tablet with the tutorial from this site:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24736900
It worked just fine for a couple days, then today I powered up the tablet and when I unlock it, it shows a problem loading all widgets, and within a few seconds the screen goes black, then proceeds back to the unlock screen. I unlock it again and this keeps repeating.
I didn't hack anything else, just installed superuser and a couple of other root apps. Really I haven't done anything else to cause this.
I don't even have enough time to go into settings and do a factory reset.
Any ideas? Perhaps in recovery?
EDIT - I did a factory reset in recovery. Is this going to fix it back to normal? I probably won't root ever again.
It probably has no affect, but what root apps did you install?
superuser, busybox, adfree, rom toolbox (which couldnt even detect my root but I never tried anything else)... those I can remember...
Did you install CWM and do a backup?
Im not sure what that acronym is for. I am new to all this. I followed the simple instructions in that tutorial and that was it.
It seems the issue is gone since my factory reset.
I am not sure if the root is still there however.
If there are extra steps to be done after a root it would help to have them with the tutorial....
A factory reset will remove root from your phone. Rooting it in and of itself should cause no issues like you are having it has to be something you installed and I would suspect ROM Toolbox. I'm not sure this app supports teh GTab+ or even has any useful purpose for us as we have no real ROMs to flash. It also contains a ROM Manager and if its the same one by Koush then it will defintely screw up our tablets.

I have done this ROOT like a million times (i'm a flash junkie)... testing the CM9 roms and back to stock again.. never had an issue with ROOTing the stock ROMs..
Suggest you download the latest firmware for your device and flash using ODIN and factory reset. Repeat the flash & factory reset a few times
Maybe you have the wrong clue of what your problem is. To root your tab is just a matter of put a binary called "su" on a directory on your PATH, usually /usr/bin and set it with proper permissions. This binary gives you superuser powers, but there's nothing on it or at least in the process that installs it that makes it interfere in anything without being called.
So accidentally you did anything that went wrong or any of programs that requires root did.

Sorry for taking a bit to reply, havent had the chance to get much PC stuff done lately.
Aaah so you think it was the culprit.... its wierd because when I tried to run the rom toolbox it shown that my tab was not rooted.
Then the problems started... as in my tab was rebooting itself and was stuck in a loop.
I did do the factory reset and then used a root checker and noticed it shown as no root access.
I have read that a factory reset does not remove root... are you sure it does completely?
I'd hate to go through another reset as I have set everything up again.
The only bug I have noticed so far with my tab is that the odd app (so far market and dolphin browser) at times I am unable to go back a page... the page just kind of flashes and stays on that page but does not go back. I end up having to restart the app.
Should I reflash with latest firmware and do a factory reset?
If so... I found this site, shall I use these instructions and firmware?

[Q] Default Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (GT-P6210) will not flash or Factory Restore

I've been asked to look at a friends Galaxy Tap 7.0 plus (GT-P6210) tablet as they want it restoring to factory defaults.
I've tried the basic factory Restore but this goes through the motions and then when it reboots all previous apps and settings are back.
I've tried to flash the firmware from the Samsung firmware site using the SD Card method and using ODIN but still get the apps and settings back.
Think I'm ready to use it as target practice.
Anyone come across this before?
Seems like it is locked in some way but no idea how. I've not had much experience with Samsung's just cheap nasty Arnova tablets.
Cheers

[Completed] [Q] GPS Won't turn ON

T-mobile Galaxy Relay 4G - on MetroPCS network (APN updated). I can turn GPS on in taskbar, but not even flashing location icon that it's looking for satellites..
I've searched forums and tried:
tightening the back screws - no change
flashed back to 4.04 (stock) - no change
tried CM10.2 and 11.1
I've updated maps and installed GPS Test and GPS Status Test and Fix - cleared aGPS data and renewed it, all indicate no activity.
Is there a way to test for a hardware failure? I paid $ to get this older keyboard phone for my wife, haven't seen anything with better specs to replace it. :silly:

I had flashed CM 10.2 and 11.1 using TWRP previously so Kies wouldn't connect, so I used Odin 3.10.6 and loaded the stock (4.04) from Sammobile (which removed TWRP). I did a full cache and then a factory reset before loading each time. The GPS still doesn't appear to be turning on (no satellites in view at all per GPS Test), so I accepted the OTA update from T-mobile back (up) to 4.1.2, no change. I've also done a recovery using the tar.md5 file and manual update from external SD, no change. Am I missing something in recovery?
So far, it has failed to turn on in stock 4.0.4, stock 4.1.2, CM 10.2 and 11.1. I read in another thread that there was a "privacy mode" that sometimes got set, and it would stay even through a factory/hard reset, and that the only way out was to go back to stock....??
Unfortunately, going back to stock 4.0.4 didn't make any difference in this case.
If anyone has any further suggestions, or a better way to cause a full reset, I'd be very interested. I've found an old TWRP backup, think I'll re-install TWRP and see if I can bring it back to that and see if there are any differences????

If the GPS did not work even after reverting to stock, then there might me a fault with your Hardware.
Try restoring the TWRP backup just to be sure and if it is not functional even after that, I would recommend you to take it to Samsung service center.
Cheers.
Thanks Dagger

I figured as much, currently out on a business trip, will have to finish when I get back home.

F***ed up badly, now downloading factory rom, need help to continue

Hi guys, I just registered @ xda because it looks like it's the only serious and feedback active community available. In 10 minutes I found most of the info I was looking for, but I still want to make sure what Im planning to do is fine before I mess up again. Here's the issue:
I was fooling around with the tablet and had just rooted it so I could get rid of some bloatware, and decided to go further and install cyanogen, just for the looks. So I got this thing cm-10.1-20130411-EXPERIMENTAL-p3110-M3 from the official site, which was I put on a folder inside the tablets storage (not on the 16gb SDcard it had in it). I downloaded Rom Manager and skipped through the "search and download rom" and went for the option of looking for it inside the SD card. I had the Backup options and the wipe cache and data ON.
So I proceeded and it booted, started to do the backup and at some final point it had an error, something like "could not backup Data!". I had the options of rebooting, some other stuff and the option of installing a rom from the SD Card. I went for it and searched for the .zip inside the storage, and installed it. It did it withouth trouble, and when it finishd it prompted me to install an update, which I didn't (don't know why).
Then, I went for the reeboot option and when it started I get the normal samsung's black screen with the device's name on it, but then I get a fast glitching image that sweeps through the screen and the cyanogen startup logo which gets stuck for ever.

Now Im past it, I can get to download or recovery mode, so I moved onto getting the original firmware so I can clean-install again. I got it from sammobile, chose the one belonging to Chile (that's where I got the tablet), and it's 729mb of data. The tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3110
If I flash it with Odin will everything be fine? All I have to do is that thing in downloadmode when I rooted it, but with that 729mb file? Should I put it in the external SD or is it more convenient to place it in the internal storage?
I appreciate your help in advance, I know this is as basic as it gets but messing up again would cost me dearly, since I have to do other stuff.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900055 read here, all the information you will need.
It's fine to flash through odin, you will back at stock provided you don't overlook small details and do exactly like the way it is shown. Don't worry, Don't panic. Just be careful to use the files meant for your device only. Second be extra careful when you are dealing with kernel file, pit file or reparation in odin in future.
Third, get root and custom recovery,twrp.
Fourth, after your device start running take backup from twrp recovery. That will save you from most of the trouble.
Most of the details and instructions are already here

hey thanks a lot, im feeling better ow. There's just one issue left: I cant download the original firmware (it's 699mb, and the download keeps stopping midway through it). What happens if I go into clockwork recovery mode and do a factory reset? would that bring me to the original OS? Im kinda scared of downloading an erroneous file again.
EDIT: im doing a factory reset and then flashing this rom called AOSP Project Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3110 which is a 161mb file. Will that work?

Factory reset is just clearing data and cache, if you have made changes in kernel or system, factory reset won't reset them, in your case, system has been altered so you will have to format system, then flash the new rom. If you were on jelly bean stock, you are good to flash it.

You guys have helped me a lot. I've worked everything out and now i've got to reinstalling android on it, AOSP's 5.1.1 Lollipop. It's beautiful. There's just one problem: Since it came with no apps at all, I wanted to install everything on it again. Problem is, when I go to google play, it shows that i've already got my apps installed, so it wont let me download them, and it doesn't matter if I place the APK's inside the tablet as there's no manager to open them. Even if I download apk's through the tablet's own web browser, it says it can't open the file. Any ideas on this?

Return to stock firmware and error 0x110060null5e2830

Hello everyone, I need your help !
So I want to sell my Galaxy S8+ (G955F) but my potential buyer wants to get rid off root, so I flashed Android 7.0 via ODIN. Problem is with Samsung Health app, because immediately after launch an error occurs because this app will not work on rooted device (error 0x110060null5e2830). Any app for root detection isn't detecting root, so where is the problem? What can I do to make this app, and everything from Samsung, work?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English

What do you mean at #4? So basically I need to do exactly what on this video below? What about all of this when device will be restored to the factory settings? Will the application still work or will it be necessary to carry out the whole process again? And what about OTA updates from Samsung?

Ok, so this is what have I done, maybe someone will find this useful:
1. Root stock Samsung firmware (XEO version, Android 7.0)) with Magisk;
2. Found this build.prop file and changed value ro.config.tima from 1 to 0 and saved the file;
3. Samsung Health still wasn't working, but I restarted the device and app starts to work;
4. Unroot phone by flashing stock Samsung firmware (Android 7.0) via ODIN, BUT, as you suggested, I used HOME_CSC file;
5. Update the phone to Android 8.0 via OTA update;
6. Samsung Health works!;
7. Restore phone to the factory settings;
And something went wrong here, because Samsung Health app again isn't working, still the same error occurs. Why? Is it because I restored the factory settings for this potential buyer? Well, he eventually will do this by himself... Is it because factory reset resets the changed value in build.prop? Is it possible to factory reset the phone without the necessity for editing build.prop all over again just to get rid of that error?

when the Knox fuse is blown (meaning you flashed twrp or a custom rom) you will never be able to use SHealth or Samsung Pay on that phone unless you root first. (I don't think Samsung Pay will ever work, but as stated earlier, there is a work around to get SHealth working again but you have to be rooted to do it.)
This is a hard ware thing - the phone knows that something was flashed on it - and samsung decieded that for security reasons, when soemthnig is flashed - ever - that phone is potentially corrupt and will not allow those apks to work on them. (as I said, the only way around that is to have some kind or work around you can use after you root the device) AND if rooted - you will not receive samsung OTA's.

I know about the OTA's, but I received one today (with Android 8.0) BEFORE I decided to factory reset this phone. Before this even Samsung Health app was working.
Ok, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I can edit this ro.config.tima from 1 to 0 value so many times I want, but if I someone will try to factory reset this phone everything will be undone to the previous state (when ro.config.tima is 1 again, instead of 0) and actually nothing can be done to get rid of root permanently and make Samsung app works?
but if I someone will try to factory reset this phone everything will be undone to the previous state
that's it, why do you do it? factory reset??
you do not need that at the update

As I mentioned above, I want to sell this phone and my potential buyer wants me to unroot the device, because he wants to use Samsung apps (like Samsung Health and all the others), he also mentioned that he wants to pull out the phone of the box "like he would buy the new one by himself" and because of this I tried to factory reset via option in settings. He would eventually do it himself and I want to avoid any problems because of this
So... Absolutely nothing can be done?
