[Tutorial][Xperia L] Hiding softkeys - Sony Xperia L

Tutorial for quick hiding softkeys without hiding notification bar.
As I was looking for an option to hide the softkeys and I couldn't find the way. After small research and testing I am presenting to you my idea.
Here is a small tutorial. (NOTE! IF YOU THINK THIS THREAD SHOULD NOT BE THERE PLEASE REPORT TO MOD TO MOVE IT)
What you will need:
Rooted phone
Of course a phone (Sony Xperia L C2105/C2104)
How To Root your phone:

Instructions:
Easier Option: (Note! For people that don't won't to use third party apps scroll down to harder option).
Firstly you will have to download the following apps:
GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys)
Pie Control (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jun.ace.piecontrol)
After you have successfully installed them. Open GMD app.
1: Allowed the SU access.
2: Tick "Hide Soft Keys" and Enabled it. (Could be small lag).
3: Tick Start On Boot (Or you will have to turn it on every time you reset your phone).
4: Scroll down to "Trigger Width" and configure it as shown in the screenshot + set Trigger Mode to Swipe.
(Press on the image to make it bigger)
Note: Pro version allows you to make the Trigger width smaller. Free version allows go only to 20%.
After you configure GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys, swipe that red bar and press home button. Then go to Pie Control.
1: Allowed the SU access.
2: Tick "Bottom" options if you want it to come up from the bottom (You can pick which side you prefer. Left/Right or Bottom)
3: Go to "Level 1":
- FIRSTBUTTON: Press "ShortClick" , go to "Tools" and pick "Menu"
- SECONDBUTTON: Press "ShortClick" , go to "Tools" and pick "Task"
- THIRDBUTTON: Press "ShortClick" , go to "Tools" and pick "Home" (Press "LongClick" , search for Voice Search
- FOURTHBUTTON: Press "ShortClick" , go to "Tools" and pick "Back"
NOTE! FOR LEVEL2 YOU CAN WHATEVER YOU LIKE ADD. YOUR CHOICE.
4: Go to "Pie" again and scroll down a bit to options.
5: In "Pie Size" choose 25 (I think is suitable for our phone screen. Of course you can make it smaller or bigger, your choice).
Optional: 6: Go to "Color" and customize the colors of it.
After all your phone screen should look smiliar to mine:
(Press on the image to make it bigger)
Harder Option:
Install any app that will allowed you to access into system files.
I would like to recommend free ROOT BROWSER (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree).
Firstly before you hide the softkeys go to Pie Control and configure it as followed:
When you configure Pie Control. Open Root Browser. Download that extra files root browser want and here you go ready to mode.
1: Go to /system and open build.prop.
2: Make a copy of build.prop
3: Add that line: "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" and save.
4: Reboot the phone.
And here you go. I don't think you need screenshot for this as it is the same as the "Easier Option" but without that red line .
Hope this tutorial will help anyone that is tired of that boring Android SoftKeys and want's something new on his/her phone.
If it help you , I wouldn't mind for a small thanks .

First: Your Pics do not work....
Second: I know you can make your Softbuttons smaller / bigger by editing framework.apk, I have seen the how to in XZ-Section. If you dind the tutorial and set the height to zero it should be gone... maybe theres even an option like show.navbar=true and you can just change it to false... however I dont have a clue

Open from pc or browser of your phone and then see...

To hide softkeys you just have to add one line in build.prop:
"qemu.hw.mainkeys=1"
then reboot and they will disappear...
but pay attention to have another possibility to launch those commands...

Is there a list of all those available tweaks that we can put in build.prop somewhere in the internet?

Man I dont know I found it out while trying "Ultimate Dynamic Navbar" and it added this line. when you set it to "0" softkeys are back
I would like to have such a list but i didnt look it up.
There are several build.prop tweakers in Market and on xda (like pimp my rom)...
You can use them to find out the codes and write the list yourself

I tried it and it messed up my build.prop... but it was easy to clean because there are always headers above those tweaks. example given: you can see how to enable bravia engine 2 (first you have to install some files of course). So it is good for learning but for real modding i dont like it that much.

Thanks though, nice app

Would like to know so aswell. Using the search button for quick sms.
Background can be changed?
Sent from my HTC Tattoo using Tapatalk
Really nice.
Fast and easy to use on my Desire. Much better then the stock taskmanager.
It's a really good start, a few suggestions:
1 - Ability to change the background
2 - A few icons for programs show up HUGE, like EasyMoney and SetCPU, it'd be more aethetically pleasing if they were all the same size.
3 - Preference to change the trigger to long press on Home (or any HW button for that matter). I use Voice Search alot on my N1, having to use the Complete Using dialog or losing Voice Search kills the joy a little bit.
Wow nice 1 will try as soon as new rom flashed

the app looks really good, fast and easy to use.
However, I didn't find the -setup layout

how did you call these function out?
Very nice!
agafi, awesome work. Can you tell me if it's possible to click through the transparency without destroying the view? In other words, clicking off of it will only set the onclick to hide the window but can you avoid the need to double tap to, for example, focus on the search widget? Thanks

Thanks at all ;-)
Definitely dying to see how you pull that off then. I would have fixed the oversized widgets but couldn't define vApp.setMaximumWidth() and couldn't pass an integer over this: parent.getResources().getDimension(android.R.dimen.app_icon_size). Maybe that'll help
nice start
on my galaxy i7500 i dont have the search button to launch the app so plz make it customizable
Amazing
This app is truly amazing. There are a lot of task switchers but all try to be fancy and the app suffers. The simplicity of this app is what makes is so good and useful.

RootBox 2.2 for SGS2 issues

Hi
Flashed the RootBox v2.2 ROM (a combo of AOKP, CM10 + tweaks) a while ago, and some support is missing.
Couldn't find answers in the dedicated developer's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806401
Nor here.
1. Long press on home screen doesn't bring up the shortcuts/widgets menu, so cannot create shortcuts fast.
2. Cannot record a call (no mic button on the dialer).
3. No voice recording built-in ICS/JB app - had to search the Play and download one.
4. Cannot increase the amount of home screens - have only 5.
5. Cannot minimize the home screens in order to see them all and select one. Used to do that using a pinch gesture.
6. Cannot go straight from the first home screen backwards to the last (i.e. recursive support).
Happy for any tips, :good:
Cheers, Gaby

It depends what launcher did you choose. If you choose Apex you can do number 4 and 5 for sure. In apex go on apex settings, homescreen and then manage screens and you can add and remove how many screens you want and choose which to set as default.
When it comes to gestures such as pinch to preview you can enable it in gestures but I do not know whether you need the pro version.
Regarding question 6 I do not know what you mean.
Apex has question 1 as well.
If I am not mistaken AOKP does not support call recording.
Hope it helped you

Indeed I've installed the default launcher. I'll install the Apex as you suggested.
Re Q #6, I meant I couldn't scroll backwards from the first home page straight to the last.
Thanks the the quick replay! :good: Gaby

You can do that in Apex as well. If you are running on Jelly Bean I suggest that you use the Beta Version of Apex which is found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452663
If you are using ICS you can use the normal one found on their website. To enable gestures I think you need to pay for the pro version.
To enable the feature to move from the last screen to the first screen you have to go into Apex settings, Home Screens, Modify home screens and set the default screen as the first one (by putting a star on it). Then go in behaviour settings (from apex settings) and select home screen action --->>> go to default screen. In the behaviour settings you can enable pinch to zoom etc.
If you wish to install software as a system application you can either:
1) use titanium backup to push it to the systems folder
2) Install root explorer, copy the apex.apk and paste it into the system folder. Restart the mobile and then you will have it as system application.
If you need more help do not hesitate to ask, I'll do my best to help you.

AW: how to make android apps
Hi, i made an app using tasker that controls the hardware eq built into Samsung galaxy s and s3 soundchip, it works good so far from functionality, but i have some issues, as the app consists out of multiple scenes i wanted to overcome that the background disappears for a moment when scenes are switched, so i decided to hide the elements of the main scene that also contains the background and display the new scene without background atop of this. This works well as long as i leave the app using its close button, that destroys all scenes, when using the home button however the app gets displayed in the wrong order on next launch, meaning the main scene is shown atop of the other scene and i need to close it first so i can open it correctly. I tried a lot of things like having a profile that monitors the visability of the main scene and destroys it if it gets hidden and a lot of other fancy stuff, without success. Do u have any idea how the app main task could be called everytime the app is clicked, no matter if it is already open or not?

Do u have any idea how the app main task could be called everytime the app is clicked, no matter if it is already open or not?

AW: how to make android apps
Check your pm...
Btw the problem only occures if it is exported as an app, if i put a simple task shortcut to the appstarter, it obviously works as intended
And don't get shocked, the project is quite massive...

U can also make swipe support to your apps
Like this friendcaster app
Create 5 to 6 scenes
And add the blue indicator below every scene name title
And add your action in stroke menu
Either swipe updown
Swipe left right or any
And in action choose show scene action
Example
In info screen there will be an image with the indicator under info text and in sroke action it will show wall scene
Where wall scene will have same image with blue indicator under wall text
Swiping from wall scene will show
Photos scene
Swipping from photos scene will show members scene
U will have to add 2 strokes in each scene one for left to right to show next scene
And one for right to left to show previous scene

Double Tap to open camera like s6

Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/howto-config-double-tap-to-launch-camera-t3203026
Only for motion ROM
In order to have the feature double tap to launch "anything", you just need root and an sql editor
in your sql editor:
1. Find Settings Storage (it's a different name for every language)
2. Tap on system
3. Tap on search icon and write "double"
4. in the entry named "double_tab_launch" place "1" in "value"
5. if you dont have a entry named "double_tab_launch_component", made it. In value place this:
Code:
com.sec.android.app.camera/com.sec.android.app.camera.Camera
Great!!! I always wanted it!!! Thank you Bro

Works perfectly fine !!!! Thanks
is there any way to get double tap to wake up ?
Very nice mod guide, even when the screen is locked, the camera app can be launched

[Help] Enable Onscreenbuttons and keep hardware buttons on as well

Hi,
I have small hands and I tend to use my smartphone with both hands. Since day 1 I am part of the users which uses both: the hardwarebuttons and the softkeybuttons simultaneously. Unfortunately there is no setting which allows both. You have to decide for one way. Therefore I found nearly two years ago a .zip which allowed exactly this. The idiot I am I accidentally deleted this zip file and I cant find it
Can someone here on the forum make me a zip which modifies the build.prop which adds following line:
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
This line will do what I want to have.
Regards
I don't know how to create zip, but this will do what exactly zip does
1.install root explorer or any build.Prop app from play store
2.add ur code in it
3.restart

Use du ver 10. When you activated navbar, you'll get both
You can use Gravitybox and enable navbar mods, thats it

Do not make a zip to add navbar. I tried to do it and it messed my build.prop up

what I mean is to disable hardware button. Your rom doesnt give option to manually turn off the HW buttons and they wont off even after turn on navbar (it is great btw if we can keep nav bar and hw for some reasons).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60015354&postcount=2 read this from DU's thread.

In my ROM you can manually chose what your hw keys do. You can select option "none" for disabling the specific key
