[Q] ROM/Kernal Battery Life Combos? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I know there are some threads out there that have addressed this topic, but none are for the HOX at least that I can find
I am trying to find out if there is an empirical data that points to the best combo of Kernal/ROM for batter life?
As of right now, I am using RageXL 1.0.3 with the Elemental 6.7 kernal. I have it overclocked to 1.7gHz with the standard voltages. I also ran the Supercharger script in the ROM
I have used VenonXL in the past and it seemed to kick a$$ but with the stock kernal
Also, I understand that there are a myriad of settings that can affect battery/ performance and makes this question very tricky to answer. I am looking sort of the general consensus of the situation

Pretty much all sense ROMs have good battery life. You can clock it lower for better battery.

This.
My best battery was with elemental 6.7, max clock was 1.5 and min was 192 with intellidemand governor and ROW scheduler. Also, I undervolt to 800. Be careful with voltage though, most phones can't handle it.

That's the first thing I noticed about Cyanogenmod. Much lower battery life. I installed SetCPU - will that fight Elemental 6.7's clock settings?

Battery life at 1.3ish vs 1.8?

Hey all just a quick question, obviously with the 1.8 OC on the Inspire this thing is blazing. But what is the battery life like at these OC's or even the voltage differences between stock 1 ghz 1.3 and say 1.8? I really just don't want to get the phone and OC it to keep it fast/smooth but have my battery last like 5 hours. So any insight about how much OCing affects battery life would be appreciated. Thanks!

well overclocking will drain your battery down faster. I would install setcpu from the market and set you clock speeds really low with the screen is off. This will help save battery when the phone is not in use.

[Q] battery life issues

im running aokp build 30 and franco kernel on my galaxy nexus and theyre just slaughtering the battery. it comes with a small battery to start, just 1750mah, but this is worse than when i was on stock rooted ics. i had the cpu governor on interactive but i could watch my battery percentages by the minute so i switched over to conservative and it may have slowed down a little. What's causing this? Franco is touted for its battery life, but ive heard a lot of complaints about the latest builds. aokp build 30 has been around for 2 days so... any ideas? preference on kernels?
do one thing goto cwm
Advanced> wipe Battery status
It's better to use cpu tuner and underclock the device when screen is off...try...
I heard that the battery of nexus is not good.so Samsung now providing a battery of 3000 mA check it..
Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
OK I'll do that with cwm. aokp comes with the ability to set CPU. any advice on underclocking because I don't know what to do or what to set it to. I didn't know Samsung was doing a 3000mah deal, thought it was 2100?
yes they are..i read that news on gsmarena.com you can search that...
topic>>
Underclocking is setting the max clock frequency to below than the original frequency
Create a profile and you can trigger your cpu settings in screenoff
Create a new profile and underclock..during testing it cause instability so don't check set on boot option..try
Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
the only 3000mah battery deal i could find was on accessorygeeks for $25. is that too good to be true?
seems like too good of a deal to be true though.
i understand what underclocking is, i meant to ask what should i set it to? should i change the voltage as well?
and im having a little trouble with your english, can i only create a profile through the cpu tuner app?
I am sorry for my bad English..
You can underclock it max to 600 and min frequency to 122mhz
Yes try cpu tuner and add profile set CPU setting as above mentioned...k?
Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
hmm ok, will the underclock have much effect on performance?
and whats the difference between setcpu and cpu tuner? (i have the setcpu apk already)
try after change it

If it seems to good to be true, it isn't true. Be sceptic of too good battery deals, alot of products are just badly labled and produce alot worse results than what their description states.
You can go as low as your device still works reliably, same goes for the voltage.
I would just search a bit, there are surely others who experimented with clock speed and voltage, i read an article some time ago about battery drain getting actually worse if you clock too low, shame i can't find it atm.

On the basic level over voltage and frequency control? Probably no difference.
If you look at extras, i.e. scale depending on certain events there might be some differences.
The thing about the gnex's battery is that its a measly 1750mah, one of the smallest ive seen in new releases. like the razor maxx has a 3300mah battery...
good thing to keep in mind about that skepticism, but do you think $25 for a 3000mah battery is a fair, not-scam deal? i cant post links yet, but if you get a chance, search accessorygeeks . com for a 3000mah gnex battery and tell me what you think of that deal.
and thanks, ill look into what other people have done for their clocking.
Looks okay, makes the sleak gnexus quite bulky though .

Best rom for battery life

Hello guys,
as for me the most annoying part of a smartphone is running out of battery when there is no chance to recharge, I want to collect your experieces with different roms concerning battery life.
WHich rom gave you the longest battery?
Cheers
There are many factors not only the ROM.
It's the kernel you flashed, it's the settings you have chosen... and at least it's your daily behavior with your phone....
Usually you have a better battery life with custom kernels...

as it was answered
custom kernel with feature as ability to set minimum CPU frequency and probablly voltage control
and U'll have to try some of them in order to find out the wright one
Longest battery life i get with stock rom so far (around 20h with moderate usage)
for custom roms:
Best battery life gave me PAC-Man rom with bubbav4 kernel - which was almost like stock.
ViperOneS had the worst battery life for me.
just try some roms and kernels, it also depends on how you use your phone of course.
in my experience, 4.2.2 roms have the lowest battery life ~3.5 hours screen on + wifi on (active Web surfing) with auto brightness.
Viper rom 2.1 ~4 hours
aosp 4.1.2 (cm10) and viper 1.2.1 ~4.5
very rough numbers obviously so no one roast me. remember I'm talking about total screen on time as reported by the battery app.
The newer jb 4.2 roms are very popular and have a lot of great features, but if battery is your thing, try out some of the older android and sense roms.

For me it was pretty much a tie between Liquid Smooth with Bubba Kernel(OC to 1890 for heavy periods, 1134 for light usage, and complete collapse of the CPU when the screen is off) And Viper One S with the Stock Kernel. Like everyone said though you'll experience wildly different numbers depending on what settings you use and how much
Viper has always had phenomenal battery life.

Complete collapse of Cpu when screen off? Is that pm sleep mode 1 or 0?
Thank you very much. Unfortunately my phone jack is broken so I cannot test your configs, will report after repair though.

There's a setting on through Android Tweaker that gives you the option to control how the phone deep sleeps basically

[Q] rom vs kernel in battery life

This is a rather simple question do different roms really have better battery life then others or is it more of the choice of kernel? Do roms effect battery life as much as the choice of kernel? I currently have vipers Rom and just maxed out at 3:20 of screen on time with stock battery with underclocked and undervolted Sebastian kernel and want to no if switching to elegancia Rom would really make a difference in battery at all
Thanks

Hi,
Battery usage is a very subjective matter.
Everyone uses their phones differently,so , judging battery life between people is hard.
Yes , some ROMS are better than others.
Yes, some kernels are better than others.
It is the combination of the right ROM and kernel for you that is going to matter.
And no one can tell you what that is.
Experiment for a couple of days to see how they work.
READ what other people are saying about them in the threads.
OR,
Get a couple of spare batteries, and carry them around with you,and then , power is never a problem.

[Q] Battery Life?

Which radio are you gents getting good performance with decent battery life? I'm kicking around T989UVMC6 and it seems to be more power hungry but perhaps its just my area. I don't think this is very good battery life as I've barley used my phone today. I'm considering buying the battery for the nexus as it has a little more capacity and I've read it fits but I'm waiting on confirmation.
Anyways..I'm testing slimbean 3.1.0 build 3 with the T989UVMC6. I'm thinking of trying the LV kernel, what governor and I/O scheduler are providing good results for you guys?
And this battery: EB-L1D7IVZ

As of now. I am using CM10 latest nightly. Using Bluelightning X2. SmartassV2 and SIO. Overclocked to 1728. Minimum is 192. Getting decent 16 hours of battery life.

Is this the one your referring to? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2025488&highlight=bluelightning+x2
You running the standard JB one and not the GPU OC one? You seem to be playing with all the roms and kernels to..how would you compare it to LV kernel. Also, what radio are you using? Does it seem like my cell standby time is high in that screen shot? I have only made two phone calls and had the screen on a few times for a few minutes today. The phone was at 100% at the start of the morning and has been very idle so i'm surprised to see it so drained.

On page 5 on that thread is the link for X2. Flash X2 then the GPU OC Zip.. Using UVMC Radio. Haven't flashed LZ in a while so i don't know.
I'm using BlueLightning with Conservative and SIO, minimum frequency is 348 max is 1188. It's not the best combinauon if you prefer performance, I get about 18 or 19 hours of battery life I'm also using the same radio as you BTW .
