You could try a ruu, after that your back to full stock (s-on included) or you run the ruu without attached device, don't close the first window and search for the rom.zip file, copy the zip to another folder, open the zip, remove everything except the recovery.img rename the zip to PG88IMG.zip and flash it within the bootloader or flash the image itself with fastboot.
But btw, i'm not sure if you need stock recovery for the ota update.
Swyped from my HTC Desire S
Using cwm recovery I didn't manage to install the ota update....You are awesome I did it!
This issue is related to the rooting my htc sensation
I managed to install a super user and rooting my phone with unlock bootloader and dowloadind zip file CWM-Supers-v0.92 and install from recovery using command "instal from zip file".
I'm new in Android world and just want to know is this possible?
TNX and sorry for my bad English.
The unlocked bootloader might let you do that. On my sister's Samsung you actually have to do that but its only temporary until you reboot. You could always just extract the recovery file and replace the current one using Root Explorer. I've done that before. Long as the permissions are correct, it should boot fine, just get a second opinion.
I have root access after reboot my phone only if i disable SuperSU , but only disable i can enable SuperSU when I need root rights
You should never disable super user and also sense you have unlocked the bootloader via HTC dev if and when you do flash a Rom you won't be able to boot because you don't have full nand unlock so once you flash the Rom you will have to extract the boot.IMG from the Rom.zip and copy it to the same folder that contain's your adb driver and your fastboot driver's then close the folder open your command Window and type for example cd\rootevo3dnew then type fastboot flash boot boot.IMG and let it flash your boot.IMG the you will type fastboot reboot and watch the magic oh by the way you can not I repeat you can not flash ics rom's you can only flash genger bread rom's 2.3.4 don't flash 2.3.6

Disabling SU should never harm a phone. It just stops apps from gaining root access.
I've got a Sensation (I think its a Phillipenes issue) which was upgraded to ICS 4.0.3.
Basically I've managed to complete HTC Dev Unlock, then a few days later I lost Wi-Fi connection, so have been trying to continue with installing a Custom (or even the original) ROM in an attempt to fix it.
I've now done Junoptobear to get true S-OFF
Got root access
But cant get Clockwork Mod to install in Recovery...
I've installed ROMmanager Premium and used it to install the latest Clockwork Mod - it states its downloaded and completed but when I go to the bootloader and select Recovery it flashes the white HTC screen for a brief second then back to the bootloader.
I've tried to manually download the Clockwork Mod file and install to Recovery but I get the same issue.
Does anyone have any ideas?? Many thanks!
Hi there you can install 4ext recovery you can get the file here in xda or even from the play store. Many of us use 4ext because it has many options and is very easy to use.personally I prefer 4ext. All I did was download from the play store and opened the app follow directions choose version of recovery and it will flash from the application. I was already rooted and soff when I did it but it's very easy to do. I really think you will like 4 ext recovery. You already have s OFF and root so it should not be a problem. Best of luck to you. I hope this helps! As I mentioned most of us use 4 ext recovery and I doubt you will be disappointed. Good luck.

I may be wrong but this sorta sonuds like a problem abother member was having the other day. I think they may not have a eng Hboot installed. Question why not just let them flash the recovery using the PG58IMG.zip via bootloader?

ClockWork Mod now installed in Recovery!
Hey Guys So i was able to successfully unload my bootloader and root my phone via 2.20 root temp method. Now i've run into a wall where I seem to be following the directions, but can't seem to get it to work.
So after my phone was unlocked etc after the whole token thingy... (Sorry this is my first time since 3-4 years ago that i have rooted.. Last phone was a Droid X so excuse my ignorance).... Anyhow so my phone got reset and all and booted back and everything was fine and working.. Now according to the thread in order to flash a ROM of my choice i need to install some sort of Recovery tool. The instructions say to install TWRP-2.3.1.0-evita.img. I have put the .img on the same folder c:android that i have created where i have the adb, fastboot files. I open up a command prompt window and run the command "fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.3.1.0-evita.img and it says "waiting for device" and get's stuck there and nothing happens.
According to the post it is supposed to install it and restart my phone automatically, however nothing happens. I am afraid if i reboot my phone and try again that my temp root will go away and will have to redo-everything all over again. Additionally I have tried the market place method where you download "Goomanager" and install the twrp img via menu>openrecoveryscript and choose to download, however i get an error when attempting to download. Can someone point me in the right direction. And will i lose temp root if i reboot my phone?
"Hey guys i just notice i did not run the "adb fastboot" command to tell my phone to reboot first prioer to trying to flash the twrip image. Sorry"

I just downloaded superuser and busybox. Also i downloaded root checker and when i click on check root it says my phone is NOT PROPERLY ROOTER. Can this be because of how HTC ONE X gets temp rooted and this app doesn't work properly? How can i check for sure if i'm rooted? I mean i can get into TWRP recovery and everything with no issues. Thanks.
I believe that because you did not download superuser before reboot. I think you lost root. Might want to try again.

So after i Ran the run.bat and did the entire cid and then token thingy from HTC site and unlocked my bootloader the phone rebooted on it's own.
I believe i need to install superuser via recovery or flash a rom first then install not sure.. the way the dev wrote this phrase is confusing to me.. Check it out...
10. After unlocking the bootloader, you can flash a custom recovery partition via fastboot, boot into recovery mode, and use a recovery ADB shell or install from an update.zip to install Superuser and su (I do not provide support for custom recoveries, but this is a straightforward process that other people can help with).
I mean every step form 1-9 all went successfully. Can you provide me with some tips ?
Oh OK. I get it. Give a sec I'll post what you need.

Thanks for helping me out, much appreciated. Also look's like i will need to find the superuser file somewhere online. I believe it needs to be inside a .zip. If i need that can you please provide that info on the instructions. Thank you so much for helping me.

So i did not download the CM recovery as i already had the TWRP recovery installed prior to my post. I put the superuser zip file in my CD Card then i adb reboot recovery within command prompt which brought me into the Team Win Recovery Project V2.3.1.0, I then selected install and choose the superuser zip file you linked me to download, however it fails with errors. Do you know what I am doing wrong?
I think this all has to happen before rebooting after the new root process. So CID, then flash recovery, load and flash superuser, then reboot. I'm not sure how others are getting it to stick. I'm rooted on 1.85 with both my HOX's

Im reading line 10 again and i think i need to install a custom rom first via flashboot then boot into recovery to install the superuser zip file. Read this again and tell me what you think?

I think I'm spot on with my last post.

What would be the ADB shell command to install lets say a file labelled superuser.zip ?
I've never tried nor know if possible to flash a zip in fastboot. To the best of my knowledge it has to be a image file.

Yes of course you need to unlock. I assumed he was. My mistake, I forget the bare basics at times.
Yes that guide works well. Just use a newer Clockworkmod http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
and super user http://androidsu.com/superuser/
The hardest part is PART 1. Many have issues with Device Manager and getting the computer to read your phone properly.
Use this http://junefabrics.com/android/
Use this guide for the drivers if necessary also
