You could try a ruu, after that your back to full stock (s-on included) or you run the ruu without attached device, don't close the first window and search for the rom.zip file, copy the zip to another folder, open the zip, remove everything except the recovery.img rename the zip to PG88IMG.zip and flash it within the bootloader or flash the image itself with fastboot.
But btw, i'm not sure if you need stock recovery for the ota update.
Swyped from my HTC Desire S

Using cwm recovery I didn't manage to install the ota update....You are awesome I did it!

Yes, you would need to get the recovery from an uploaded rom with the same build number as yours. e.g European 1.35.401.1
1. download the file attached. That is for clockwork recovery mod working for the sensation.
Find an RUU in the development thread or OTA update collections with the same build number.
replace recovery.img in the zip you downloaded below with your recovery.img from the official rom. Just extract it from rom.zip and then copy it into the PG58img.zip
2. Copy PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card) after you have changed the recovery.img in it.
3. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into Bootloader/HBOOT screen(See how to get Hboot post above)
4. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
5. Press Power Off to Reboot back to android (normal screen with homescreen)
6. Remove PG58IMG from your memory card and YOU should now be back to stock recovery
Thanks mate!
Ill test it out tomorrow, really need some sleep atm.

Seemed to work like a charm, for me anyway. I'm back to original recovery again on my Sensation.
Was very worried when I saw what Mixmaven said about not being able to charge a dead battery due to CWM, on p.54 of Dev section Revolutionary thread.
Thanks ikhzter, for all the guides and help for us noobs.
I'm content with just having a rooted, unbranded, stock rom for now. No more vodafone logos and apps is like an early Christmas pressie in itself for me

If you download the 1.35.401.1 RUU exe, and get to the rom.zip from in that, there is a recovery_signed.img within that rom.zip.
and how would I do that? (looks like i'm a noob on that area)
I'm also interested to know how to do...
U can open the exe with winzip or winrar...
The attached file has had the Clockwork recovery replaced with the standard recovery from RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1....
I just put it on my sdcard, powered the phone off, powered on whilst pressing VOL DOWN. It found it and asked if I wanted to start the update.
I did this, and now have the stock recovery.
Will it do a whipe?
Just whant back s-on so i can update original ota 2.3.4 but dont whant to do a wipe

Thanks mate really appreciated but could u plz post some links where to download files, and can i do that without rooting the phone, i also dont know what mean s-off.
Sorry, I can nor provide links as I am on my phone. But basically, you need to get s-off by using the juponotbear method. Google it,or check in dev section. After s-off, you need a custom recovery, like CWM. Place the pg58img.zip file on the root of your sd-card, and reboot into boot loader but removing and reinserting the battery, and then hold town power+vol down. It will ask you if you want to install, just confirm. Then remove the pg58img.zip.file.from your SD, and then download the gb firmware for your acid (might take some time to find the right one), and install it like you did with the recovery. Now, if you reboot, you will get a bootloop, because you have a ICS Rom on a gb firmware. Remove the pg58img.zip file from your SD, and download a gb ROM of your choice. Then boot into boot loader, and select recovery. When you have booted into recovery, wipe data, and flash rom from SD card. That should be it

Hi,
The first thing you must do is s-off.
Look in my signature at ☺ A great starting point for all new Sensation owners ☺
There are several guides to s-off.
Then downgrade your firmware or run GB RUU.
All in the sig.
Edit:
Why urgently?
If you rush these things without properly reading, you will end up with a brick.

ClockWork Mod wont install in Recovery

I've got a Sensation (I think its a Phillipenes issue) which was upgraded to ICS 4.0.3.
Basically I've managed to complete HTC Dev Unlock, then a few days later I lost Wi-Fi connection, so have been trying to continue with installing a Custom (or even the original) ROM in an attempt to fix it.
I've now done Junoptobear to get true S-OFF
Got root access
But cant get Clockwork Mod to install in Recovery...
I've installed ROMmanager Premium and used it to install the latest Clockwork Mod - it states its downloaded and completed but when I go to the bootloader and select Recovery it flashes the white HTC screen for a brief second then back to the bootloader.
I've tried to manually download the Clockwork Mod file and install to Recovery but I get the same issue.
Does anyone have any ideas?? Many thanks!
Hi there you can install 4ext recovery you can get the file here in xda or even from the play store. Many of us use 4ext because it has many options and is very easy to use.personally I prefer 4ext. All I did was download from the play store and opened the app follow directions choose version of recovery and it will flash from the application. I was already rooted and soff when I did it but it's very easy to do. I really think you will like 4 ext recovery. You already have s OFF and root so it should not be a problem. Best of luck to you. I hope this helps! As I mentioned most of us use 4 ext recovery and I doubt you will be disappointed. Good luck.

Even if you've taken the 4.1 ota it will boot just no working touchscreen. Op is doing something wrong. Verify that you have a onexl and are flashing a ROM for the one xl then make sure to wipe cache, dalvik, system and do a factory reset in twrp. If you wipe system and are flashing a ROM for the wrong phone you will brick so make sure you have the right ROM and phone combo. After flashing the ROM boot to fastboot and fastboot flash your boot.IMG. if you do all that your ROM will boot.

Doesnt matter if you flash it before or after ...are you full wiping? Data system caches. .. and you're flashing thorugh Fastboot right Sith Fastboot flash boot boot.img ?
Yes. Well mostly to flash the flash boot img . I was using the flash image gui app , or the flash boot .img batchfile created here on xda. They both have worked in the past .

Place boot image on phone but not in any folder so that GUI can see it not in one x root. Place full zip file in downloads folder on phone storage. Use GUI to flash image. So I downloaded the flash GUI program and followed the steps via the video (thanks for that, very helpful) but after flashing the kernel (boot IMG) and hitting the recovery reboot option it didn't reboot, it didn't do anything. So I did a manual reboot into recovery and installed the zips and rebooted. I got to the Rom initiating page (this one had a unicorn) and it didn't go any further. The only other info I could offer is that I went the lazy way and emailed the boot image to myself on my comp and downloaded to my phone via the email. Not sure if that makes a difference. Any more ideas, I'm gonna try the ice cold jelly Rom and the viper xl later today.
So I just tried the viper 3.2 Rom and although it seemed to get a little further in the process, result is the same: stuck on viper logo. Only ice cold jelly left. When transferring zip files over to phone do o have to mount via twrp or can I just mount as disk drive via stock rom? At this point, unrooting and waiting for att's official JB update may be my only option. Thanks in advance for any help.

[Solved] [Q] X920d Android 4.2.2 version 1.19.707.2 update problems

Edit: For the solution, go to post #7
Looking for help here. I have a butterfly X920d.
I received an update for 1.19.707.1 yesterday and I updated it. The problem is I have TWRP installed.
So now when the main update package (1.19.707.2) is downloaded and reboots to continue installation, it always reboots into TWRP instead of installing it.
I have tried to flash 1.12.707.1 RUU but it always end up in error 43 (FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail), upon research tells me that it is incompatible with the 1.19.707.1 I have recently updated.
To perform the above action, I locked the bootloader, which introduce a new problem. When the 1.19.707.2 reboots to install, it is stuck at the HBoot/Fastboot screen. It remain there until I manually reboot it.
In a summary;
In 1.12.707.1, installed TWRP and rooted
Got an OTA update for 1.19.707.1, download and run it, while rooted
1.19.707.1 installed properly
Phone begins to download and install 1.19.707.2
Upon restart to complete, installation stuck in TWRP screen
Relocked phone and tries to flash 1.12.707.1 RUU to return to stock
Error 43 (FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail) in fastboot RUU flash
Restarted process 4, but now instead of booting to TWRP, it is stuck in Fastboot
I'm thinking, as the update process does not support TWRP recovery, it is stuck in 1.19.707.1
As I have locked the bootloader, TWRP is unable to start. Would unlocking it again via unlock.bin softbrick my phone?
Is there any help or guide to help me get out of this spiral of misery?
Thank you in advance.
Edit: is there anyway to flash just the stock recovery to replace twrp instead of the whole RUU?

Woah, took the dive, went in and emerged successfully.
Thanks to the advice from @Bassie39, I reflash my recovery from 1.19.707.1 (link) [Please read the instructions to get the correct files.]
I had to unlock my device before flashing the recovery due to relocking it earlier. Same old story, all of the data was wiped.
Summary of my steps.
Flash stock recovery.img, extracted from 1.19.707.1 RUU
Reboot phone
1.19.707.2 installed succesfully from OTA
2.33.707.3 updated as well upon reboot
Reflash TWRP 2.6
Root using busybox
SuperSU not working in 4.2.2 (probably leftovers from the previous root)
Downloaded SuperSU and flashed in recovery
Root and Titanium backup working finally
Those who are having the same issue, you need not relock your device. Just flash stock recovery, and the OTA is good to go.
After that, flash TWRP and root if you like.
Relock is indeed not necessarily only stock boot.img and recovery.img
