My daughter locker screen with the PIN number and forgot it and I didn't want to have to factory reset. I do however have access to the files through Androidlost and was wondering if there's a file that contains that pin number.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

The file would be heavily encrypted. You'd have no chance of retrieving it in plain text
If you're responding to me, make sure to quote me so I get an immediate email
Wouldn't you be able to reset it my entering your Google credentials?

was going to suggest this. you can do this with pattern I believe, so id think that this would work with pin also.
It never got to the point to request my Google credentials but I found a way to use SMS messaging to clear the pin...thanks for all the replies issue has been resolved.

I agree now that I think of it that the file would be very difficult to the decrypt.

Hi, I have an S III with a pin unlock code. I was able to get into my phone just fine, untill a few minutes ago I was able to get into my phone.
Now its simply locked and I cannot enter.
Any ideas? There are important family pictures.
Punch in the correct code?
I'm not trying to be facetious, but it's highly unlikely that the code just changed on its own.
Have you tried a battery pull and reset?

You can also login to your my Verizon account on the web and look under your phone to find your lock code.

Sounds like a stolen phone. Pin numbers do not change unless you changed it yourself lol.

If you enter the wrong code enough times it should give you the option to unlock by entering the password for the phone's primary Google account.

Also, shouldnt I be getting the "forgotten pin" option? I dont see that.
If I get that I can easily login with my google account on MY phone.
Actually, I just tried it with the pin setting.... I'm not getting the "Login with your google account" option either. It shows up just fine for my pattern password, but if I set a pin, I can't find an option to bypass.

My question still stands, how do you reset your password with the pin lock? When I lock my phone with the pattern, if I mess up too many times it gives me the option to login with my google account, but with a pin lock, I saw no such option. What is one to do in this case?
Hi
I know why it's generally not a good idea to do this because it would probably mean passwords would have to be stored in plain text on the device, but in this case the trade off in security is absolutely worth it for me!
An app I use regularly demands a password when opened if its been inactive for longer that about 10 minutes - this password is very long so I'd like to assign a keyboard shortcut to it so as to make the whole process less of a hassle. What's the best way to do this? My device is rooted.
Cheers!

is this possible?
No android security protocols wont allow it.
So there's no way around it whatsoever?

I'm not sure if this will work, but maybe you can use gestures. You can make a gesture to type out the specific password in
the typing field.

Hi Everyone,
Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing issues with XDA recently.
I've had the same password since I started, and its stored in chrome so usually I just press enter on my keyboard and voila, logged in.
Today I've been getting the login failed attempt 1 out of 5 etc.
But yet, If I refresh I'll be logged in, then I'll click a forum, e.g. HTC One X and again I'm logged OUT.
Then I'll click Q n A or General etc, and back logged in.
I'm very worried and don't know whether its XDA issues, or someone changing my password etc?
Any insight appreciated, thanks.
(to moderators - this is a duplicate thread, please delete the one in general I was in wrong section)
I didn't experience any problems.

I had an error today funnily enough about not having the security permissions. All I did was start up the xda app. Error didn't stay long enough to note exact wording.
Not had that before.

If someone changed your password, you wouldn't have any access at all. I suspect there is just something wrong with the autentication cookie stored on your computer that is only giving access to certain web pages of XDA.

Is anyone else having trouble with this app? It was working well for a little bit but now it someone sends me a message I won't receive it till like the next day. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

Hmm. Like it'll show me when the other person has seen the message, so I'll be expecting a reply back and it will show them typing and I'll get the message, but other times I won't receive the message for a while, or I have to sign out and then sign back in and it'll be there

I'm using hangouts as my primary and the same thing happens to me. I believe that it may have something to do with my extreme fluctuations in signal type/strength. I go from 4G to edge on a consistent basis b/c I work on a cell restricted location.
I use Hangouts as my primary communication method with my work and I've not had any issues with delayed or undelivered messages on this phone yet. I am on wifi for a majority of the day, but I get my messages when I'm away from wifi as well. I am in an area with pretty strong 4G signal, so perhaps arich2day is correct about there being an issue with jumping from no signal to good signal.
Well, most of the time I'm on Wifi and it still doesn't work right

It works for me just fine. The issue seems to be on your end. Maybe your network is too slow or maybe something else on your phone is keeping it from going through.
What are trying to do? Who are trying to contact? There may be another way.

I'm using xda on desktop (Chrome).

I wanted to change my username.
I put all my details and pressed "Send" then a rotating icon appeared which was rotating infinite times.

They might also help you figure out why the contact form was giving you issues, it might be something they need to fix on their end.
