[x920D] UPDATING to Sense5 4.2.2, be on any rom - HTC Butterfly

Upgrading any HTC Butterfly to Sense 5
You maybe on any ROM, custom or STOCK, this has been used successfully.
STILL, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU CONVERY YOUR GORGEOUS BUTTERFLY INTO A PAPER WEIGHT
1) Download this OTA file," https://disk.yandex.ua/public/?hash=5c9MZ+9bvcJ/dxBnuEPpyiVBPOKHhLWe6OlXPlLl8XI=&ncrnd=163 " on your PC/Laptop
2) Extract only the firmware.zip
3) Shift the OTA........... file to ext-sd card of your HTC Buttterfly
4) Reboot the phone in bootloader and then connect to PC
5) Open command prompt in the adb tools folder, make one by installing the SDK.
6) fastboot oem rebootRUU
7) After the phone screen turns blank, do this
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
And wait till you get Error 90, asking to reflash, if S-OFF
If S-ON or Other region stock, just carry on the next steps,
If SON or Stock, First flash older Taiwan stock as posted by daorderdillon and then repeat the other steps.
8) Then next
fastboot reboot
9) Install ES File Manager from PlayStore, then browse to the root of ext-sd where you have the OTA... file and after selecting this file, rename it to PL99IMG.zip
10) Reboot to bootloader and wait, select Yes if asked to.
Reboot and enjoy the Sense 5 ROM. This has been tested on S-OFF as well as S-ON, as well as with unlocked and Lock bootloader. Enjoy the best of SENSE 5 4.2.2 without waiting for an update to your region.
Thanks to daorderdillon, xda forum and all the butterfly users.

This works on non-rooted butterfly as well?
Anyone can confirm this? So sick of waiting for the update here.

If you want to be sure you got a right recovery, just download a ota of a s3 ROM and extract it yourself from the zip.
Or specific ask for a s3 recovery.
In the C2 dev section I think a few topics also got the file.
A cid is not device related. Recovery is.

I can find no ruu only ota.zip guess you have to wait for it.
You could look here.
http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=VilleC2
Stock recovery just extract from one of them files.
What you can try is flash a custom ROM that is as stock as possible not jb but an ICS custom rom (based on 2.15 www Asia). Then restore stock recovery. And than do the ota legit.

I can't decide 4 u. You gotta work with the device, not me.
If you want to go with clean stock ROM.
You can try the last option I named.

You cannot flash a custom ROM or kernel with a locked bootloader.
If you have noticed .. when we boot into the bootloader.. the Hboot verifies some images PJxxxx... A locked bootloader will search for all the images i.e. stock system.img stock boot.img recovery.img and i think userdata.img too...
And we cannot " LOCK " our bootloader once it is unlocked. We can only " RELOCK " it..
Stock Recovery ? I havent tried but check THIS out..
Cheers bro.
Thanks. I got stock recovery from there...
I know about "relocked" thing but I had saw somewhere that appropriate RUU can make it "Locked"..
I've not tried yet as I've not found any RUU for mine...

If you have anything except a signed HTC official RUU on your phone, and you "relock" your bootloader, your phone wont go past the hboot... First hand experience says so..
If you wanna lock your bootloader, you MUST have an RUU ready to install.. A locked bootloader wont even let you boot into a custom rom/recovery..
Even "fastboot boot" wont work...

I don't think both are signed by HTC. If what sachin said about -The signatures used on Rom and boot should match -
Then both won't work -you'll be stuck at fastboot.
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app
On older HTC devices and most other devices, you can relock the bootloader even while using custom ROMs and kernels. But now HTC doesn't want us to relock bootloader except for flashing signed images. You can try flashing the signed (unmodified) images of stock kernel, ROM and recovery manually and then relocking. I'm not sure whether this would work, I can't even imagine going back to stock ROM :silly:

I believe the stock 1.43 boot is untouched. Not sure whether the system partition's signature is verified as it's too large. You can try 1.43 boot.img along with the recovery image from latest RUU
BTW, if your radio is 1.11.82.30 you can also try searching for an RUU with a newer radio version

Flash Different RUU on different Carrier

Hry Guys this is my very first pist on XDA so pardon me if i make any mistake.... i have a question in mind i have a T-MOBILE htc ONE S unlocked so i can use any Sim on it... My query was that k if i can flash non t mobile ruu on it... or i will left with my bricked ONE S.... cuz my wifi hotspot not seems to work..... sorry for bad English.... and trillion thanks for such hardwork...
You must flash RUU what is correct with your radio
..... okay.... and how to check my radio
If you are s-off you can try super cid, it lets you use any ruu
Heres how:
1. Go to bootloader
2. Get into fastboot
3. Plug in your phone to pc
4. Open command prompt
5. Type: fastboot oem writecid 11111111
I wouldn`t use SuperCID, because your device will brick if you update from latest released RUU to latest official HTC version.
I yould recommend HTC_102 as CID which allows you to install the stock software without any carrier.
m unable to supercid my T MOBILE HTC ONE S any how... using ADB or FASTBOOT, I m S ON..... can i S off without supercid.. if yes thn how... plzz help

The best thing to do will be install a custom rom and then as the official updates come along update them manually or wait for custom roms based on the updates. To do that you have to first download the drivers, unlock your bootloader, s-off your device then install the custom rom. You can visit the development page and learn how to s-off you phone and then how to install custom roms.

As for the battery drain your phone might not be calibrated properly. To fix that just install an app that whipes battery stats from the play store and follow the instructions

you can straight away install a 4.3 rom
I recommend the s off and super cid because installing 4.3 without updating firmware will cause problems like battery drainage. But hey it's your phone do wat u want
