GS3 Camera? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I am not a fan of touchwiz except in one certain area....the camera.
I just game to the GS3 from the Galaxy Nexus. I am excited to have a much better camera, however if I flash a stock ROM I am afraid I will lose some quality. Is it noticeable? I assume porting the GS3 camera to an AOSP rom is a no-go...lots of dependancies and whatnot I expect.
Thoughts on TW 4.1.2 ROMs vs AOSP 4.2.2 ROMS?

You shouldn't lose any quality by flashing a stock ROM because it uses the same camera app. And you're right about the TW camera, it's pretty darn good compared to the AOSP one.

What ROM has awesome camera performance?

With my Sensation being my main phone, I can't really flash between tons of ROMs... from my experience with CM7 on the mt4G, AOSP camera was awful in comparison to Sense. Right now I'm running a CM9 kang, and camera performance is already awesome which leads me to think it can be even better. What ROM do you nice people suggest for an awesome camera? It can be GB or ICS.

Any Non-Touch Wiz Rom cameras as good?

Hey all I haven't tried any of the latest non-TW ROMS lately. Are the cameras still somewhat sub par compared to TW still?
Sent from my S3.

Is the TW camera still better?

I haven't run TW on my phone for almost a year now, its been some kind of AOSP/CM like SlimRom.
But I have a trip coming up with visiting family and would like to take the best possible pictures, so if the TW camera is better then I will switch.

Do different ROMs have different effects on the camera quality?

Or will a picture always look just as good as if it was taken with stock? I've always wondered about this.
Thanks in advance!

It definitely matters.
The hardware doesn't change, but the software controlling features and camera ability changes significantly between stock/aosp camera apps.
Aosp camera ability is getting much better because the development by Google on the camera app is increasing. However in my opinion, the stock camera application will always be better because it's specifically meant to work on this phone model, and it's been tested and tweaked to work perfectly. The Aosp camera is the same for every single device it supports, meaning it's impossible for it to be tailored for a specific phone model.
In general, every stock TouchWiz rom will have the same camera quality and every Aosp rom will have the same camera quality, with TouchWiz winning quality wise all the time.

I also was wondering this the other day. Since aosp roms tempt to have bad cameras (freezing or not connecting)

Thanks for clarifying this! I've also been wondering and asking myself this question for years if the ROM matters. The downside: This makes the (already hard) decision between AOSP and Sammy ROMs even harder...

Is stock ROM needed to make full use of Ultra Pixel camera?

In order to get the best quality of the "Ultra Pixel" camera in the M8 does one need to be running the stock ROM from Verizon? Do any of the ROMs available have the software/driver/app to make use of the camera to it's fullest extent (or at least as well as the stock ROM does)?
I really like the CyanogenMod v12.1. It is fast and stable. The camera however, seems a bit underwhelming. Would be great if there was a way to add in the HTC app/drivers for the camera to other ROMs such as CM.

1.Sense camera is the best one for photography.
2.No.You can't use sense camera on AOSP,CM based ROM.
3.But you can have pure stock + sense camera if you flash a GPE ROM since there is a sense camera port for it.
You can find them Digitalhigh GPE & Stock Rooted 5.1 GPE LMY47O.H6
