HTC One - Change stock ROM issue - General Questions and Answers

Hello!
Is there any guide that can show me how I can flash a stock ROM on my HTC One? I just want to change one stock rom with another one, that's all. I don't want to unlock it, root it, customize it or anything like that...
I have an unlocked phone bought from a phone company. When I start it, it shows the phone company's logo etc, instead of the Quietly brilliant thing etc. But it is not locked on that network.
So, I want to flash it with a stock ROM and upgrade to 4.2 while I do this. I am already downloading "Stock_Odex_2.24.709.1_Final.zip".
I have found a lot of tutorials on unlocking, custom ROM, changin recovery etc, but I just want to change one stock ROM with another stock ROM, that's all.
Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thank you,
Isro

It isn't possible to flash another ROM, neither Custom nor Stock, without having root access. I'm sorry but to remove the branding, you have to root your phone.

Oh... I see. I thought there was something simple like for the S4. Damn it...
Anyway, thank you!

I'm interested! I wish this phone had its own space here at xda.
Working on a rom dump just for that the problem is that I don't own the phone. So I get limited time with my good friends phone. Also I got a family so us getting together to do this stuff is kinda hard. If I get a rom dump I might be able to port cm7 to this model. I am no major developer I just tinker mainly. But would like to do more and his dart is a good start for doing more.
Looking to make recovery image as well

i have the samsung dart from tmobil which is this model phone and was curious about rooting it. what kind of benefits does rooting do for a phone? also does anyone have any guide on how to root this phone?
any help would be appreciated and thanks
Download the tool plug in USB cable to phone set phone to USB debugging in (settings >manage applications>development>USB debugging) run superoneclick as administrator.
Then click the root button. Easy as pie.

Well there is no custom roms as of now I am tring to get one together but without source code its not easy to do anything. But you can use an app called root explore to remove T mobile boatware. Also use any app that requires root.
Also root will be helpful when a recovery image is made for the dart. Then custom roms will be possible.

NANDROID is not compatible with this device, i tried to install on a rooted t499; all well, but when i tried to boot into the clockwork recovery from ROM Manager, NOW I HAVE A DEAD PHONE....ZIPPO, NOT EVEN A BLINK, i've 3 pieces needing repair. however, i'm shooting for 2 will be fully functional. ONCE, i get my hands on the original firmwares...FULL.. so, if anybody out there can DUMP all the files on a link TO FLASH WITH ODIN, THANKS A ALOTTO.
REQUESTING samfirmware FOR ODIN T499---URGENT
also have 1 piece dead as a deer...help
I've been working on dumping the rom but all I get is a 'segmentation fault' when using romdumper... still trying to figure all that out. I think its the way superoneclick roots it.
I know it must be hard to work on, is there any updates on custom roms?

Rooted yet otherwise untouched ROM

Hey guys, I was wondering whether there is a rom out there that has been rooted, but otherwise has had nothing else changed? I like the custom roms and everything, but something somewhere never quite works properly. Any suggestions?

Well, I have the Vodafone crapware on my ROM, so I just want a good stock rom that is rooted. For my old Hero there were a couple around that could be flashed very easily.
I'm using virtuous sensation v1.0.1 and its pretty much the same as stock. Very fast and stable.

Ahh I guess I don't have to start a new thread to ask my question.
All I want is for me to be able to use titanium backup to remove bloatware, rom manager to back things up, and change the pink bootup T-Mobile crap. Will I simply be able to root, add those apps and proceed?
Thanks for the help in advance
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
yes, you will be able to root.
1.) s-off
2.) permRoot
you don't need titaniumbackup to uninstall bloatware. simply use the rootexplorer. navigate to system/app and delete that apps you don't want to be on your phone. but don't forget to mount r/w. and before you do so, make a nandroid backup!
How do we perma root without screwing up our WIFI, yet stay with stock ROM? Seems NO ONE has addressed this here on the forum. Suggesting a custom ROM is a bandaid solution.

What are you talking about? Just above here in this thread people said you can simply to S-OFF and then root the phone without changing the ROM at all?
It doesn't break wifi...

No where did they mention how to root. Many people are losing their wifi doing the regular method that is in the massive guide, so they wind up going back to stock. It is not guaranteed to mess up wifi, but if it does, you are just unlucky. (As of now).
I would like to know how others are rooting (perm.) without having these issues.
Matt
I think the responses in this thread pretty much sum up why we want a rooted yet otherwise untouched ROM. From my flashing experience in the past I have found it *extremely* difficult to find a ROM where everything just works. Some well meant tweak always ends up causing some bizarre problem somewhere down the line.

Fair enough - I just flashed the root zip that the Revolution guys linked to and haven't had a single issue.
EDIT: actually it looks like this is solved - just use the correct (newer) su zip as shown in this post

Some help pls....

I got the one s and its working perfectly and smooth but only one thing is starting to irk me, and that's the bloatware...I want to get rid of it and heard that there's only a temporary root but correct me if I'm wrong I would like to know if theres a permanent root for the one s to get rid of the bloatware. Any type of advice is really appreciated.

You can use the available root method to remove bloat. Search the forum before asking questions and you'll find answers. Check in development. Congrats with your new phone hope u love it.

depends if you want rid of portions of the bloatware..you could just use rootexplorer and knock off the apps you dont need. i do that with sense roms old and new..and get rid of crap like peep etc..
htc needs to get wise to that lol...never understood why they insist on filling there roms full of rubbish..saying that..some people like
Ze swings and roundabouts me thinks...ZE swings and ze roundabouts
Well thx and it would really help if someone would post a thread link so I can get straight to it, I would look around in the forum but my busy hours at work won't let me, and this amazing phone just needs the bloatware completely removed...oh and if you guys know any good roms for the one s, I know they are still in development, but if the essentials work that's all I need to know...thx for taking time to help a noob.

Unlock at HTCdev then use the above link(paulobrien method) it works with US T-Mobile also. Its as simple as connecting phone to PC and installing the file. Presto! Root!
I have US version and it worked fine. After rooting download Rom Manager from play store and use it to flash recovery.

What about the security, I saw it on some of these videos that they have their phone rooted with s-on still on the phone. Do we not mess with the security on the phone?

just got through unlocking the bootloader, everything went great, but just a quick question before i root it, is it safe to run the root from the hasoon2000 kit to the phone that is a tmobile version or should i try the O'brian method? im just curious and take precautions, i dont want to brick my phone at all.
quick edit: i used obrians method, worked good and everything works fine, started up normally with a little lag then smoothly continued, im figuring that thats it....now for a rom anyone has a good rom that is good, i like the same default one that was with the phone, but all i wanted to do was keep everything and just completely take out the bloatware....i dont mind having the themes changed i just want the bloatware out of this amazing phone. thanks for helping me out.

Now that your phone is rooted just use Root Explorer to remove all the extra crap you don't want on your phone. Look in "/system/app" That's where the bloat is located.

[Q] Info on changing "ROMs"

Ok, this is a Question, My tablet is a ("Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, P5113, with a rooted Android 4.1.1") and i would like to chang it to "jellybean" or some other, ROM, can this be done without me unrooting, as you can see, i have no idea what i'm doing but I will learn how.
This is why I bought this tablet, just to see what i can do. So if you can, Please show me where i can get the Info on how to do this, I have read alot in here on rooting "ect" but i seam to not find anything on this, maybe i'm blind or just to old....
You already on jelly bean..
even if you want to change your rom into an official jelly bean rom, you dont need to unroot your tab..
find an aokp jb ROM in dev section, do full wipe, flash new ROM w/correct gapps. enjoy.
you're already running jb, but it's a stock/rooted official jb ROM ;]
you're already rooted, that won't change unless you flash a stock jb firmware via Odin.

Are you sure you're on a "rooted" ROM? Sounds to me like you have root and unroot confused. Did you buy the Tab new? Is it how it came from the store? If so you are not rooted. Rooting is what one does in order to be able to flash custom ROMs.
I recommend you plan on spending a few weeks just reading about all of this and taking notes (really, cutting and pasting into a document on your pc, that's what I do) before you do anything. That's what I'm doing because doing all of this on the Tab is so much different than doing it on my phone, I really have a lot to learn about Odin, flash counters, Triangle Away, etc....

With that attitude and your barely passable ability to post on this forum, I wouldn't recommend you do any kind of flashing with your phone.
