Greetings all. Newbee here. I have a rooted Gs3 running CM10 4.2.2. My problem is that the Micro Usb on the phone doesn't recognize the charger or computer.
Can this be a driver problem? If not, how can i take it back to stock without the use of a computer? Right now I'm using an external charger for charging. Oh, I have insurance. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to XDA,if your on windows,go here... http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads and select phones, then your model.Try that, first, its more than likely the situation,if you havent installed any drivers yet,or try reinstalling it,always get drivers from the manufacturers site,so you can get the latest versions.Make sure to restart your computer after installing drivers.
Thanks for the welcome. My only problem is I can't use the USB cord from the computer. I've tried several chords and no dice. Tried rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush deal too... Nothing. Can I download it to my phone from the Samsung site itself? Will I lose root if i do this? You guys rule. Thanks again.

Might be from flashing the ROM or Incorrect USB Controller Drivers

I don't have any experience with CM10 but It sounds like this might be related to either a bad ROM flash or you may need to install updated drivers for the USB Controller on your Motherboard. If the USB ports you're trying to connect the phone to worked fine before the flash then I would suggest posting on the CM10 section of this forum to receive help with flashing back to stock. You can also go to the manufactures website for the Motherboard you have installed and download drivers from there. If you get it back to stock and the problem is not fixed you could try going through the phone insurance. Hope this helps you out
I'm really thinking it is the USB port itself. This is something that started to diminish over time. It was fine one day. A few days later, only would charge if I pulled or push the wire to one side. Now, it's totally out of commission. Can I put a new one usb port on? Doesn't seem to hard. I realllly don't want to go back to stock, nor do I think i can w/o a chord.

You can try downloading the Rom again then flash it.followed by wipe data/reset

Yes, you could add a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 PCI Express Card adapter to your computer. If you want the ports in the front of your computer, you could get front panel ports and run the connector to the midboard connector on your motherboard.

so... i was on cm7 with twrp and i wanted to install the new aokp team acid released with fixes. I thought i read the op correctly and could use twrp to install aokp. i was getting an error but i already wiped system and did a factory reset. anywho i had no os and all my backups on my sd card got deleted a few days prior than today. so i busted out heimdall and everything was going great but the usb cord i was using was some poop and it ""disconnected" during installation. so i rebooted the phone and it gave me the connect to kies message with the 2 computers and i tried i again leaving the phone in one spot. again it came "disconnected" (what a bs usb cord it is). so i went to try a third time and now heimdall cant see my device. but i know its not the cord as poopy as it is it will detect my wifes phone which is a sgs4g too. is there anyway to get heimdall to see what my phone is again?

Either that or you may have a broken charging port also. That could be a broken charging port on your phone. Not always is a usb cable fault. But like Imx said, just calm down and youll see the light at the end. After all, youre using an unbrickable Galaxy 4g. Which worst case scenario is the most simple to apply unbrickable mod.

Actually a blackberry cable is preferred. The samsung cable is not the best quality. I use it but Im also scared Im going to have issues. I use to have a blackberry cable around here somewhere and there wasnt a phone I couldnt get recognized on my pc with it.
thanks for the advice guys i will try a different cord and reply with my findings. i dont think it is my charging port. that should be fine never had a problem charging it. i never applied the unbrickable mod do you think this would help me?
All i get in the unknown device error when i plug the phone in right now. samsung drivers still dont help it. like i said when i hook my wifes phone which is a galaxy s 4g too to my computer it will recognize hers just not mine.

When you google one click stock for our device and download it the Java app requires you to install Java on your PC one this is done the program will automatically ask if you won't to install the drivers click yes then you will need to go to list at the top left corner select recent devices then Samsung will pop up install them then you click flash and it does all the work

It kind of sounds to me like your drivers are borked. I would recommend uninstalling all drivers, reboot and then install the drivers included with the heimdall one-click.

guys, ive been messing around now for about 5 hrs trying to get this thing going and no luck. i know there has to be a way. this is a list of things that ive tried and any other suggestions would be very helpful.
*tried a different usb cord
*used usbdeview to delete anything android/samsung related
*tried another laptopkn
*tried another sgs4g (which one click will say connected but then if i try my phone it wont)
*deleted all known drivers samsung/android related
im going to the store now to see if i can get a brand new usb cord and see if that helps. other than that fellas im clueless as to why i wouldnt be able to get one click to see my device. its almost as if the device doesnt know what it is. but sometimes by chance when i plug it in to my computer it will try to install and if i have one click open it will say connected and the drivers are being detected and then when the drivers fail it becomes disconnected.
Anyone have anything else i can try???
Install Heimdall.
Plug in phone, while it's on download screen.
Launch zadig.exe from the Heimdall\Drivers folder.
Options->List all devices.
Choose the Samsung one... I'm away from my computer so I can't give you the exact name, but I think it's Samsung Composite Device.
Change the driver to libusb0.
Install/replace driver.
Restart computer.
Log into computer.
Restart phone.
Flash successfully.
I remember seeing somewhere that once on mtd the phone responds to the Google drivers. You can install those from the android sdk. Don't know if that would help, but worth a shot if you don't have those drivers installed.

all but given up on my wifes g2x. can't find a rom/bb that works and even if i did the usb charges but won't connect to my computer.
so i have another one being overnighted to me. i removed the superuser app but its still rooted and has cwm mod.
do they check this crap when it gets back to where ever? is there any way to unroot/removed cwm without usb?
They do check it. And far as I know there is no way to do it with out usb. Does it not charge or just won't connect to PC?

You CAN unroot it without a usb with the z4root app. Find the apk file and install it, then click unroot.

Has to retract what I was trying to imply because it wouldn't display right. Basically what I was saying was reinstall the drivers. Maybe even uninstall the old one first. And make sure you are using a data cable. Some USB cables are simply just for charging and won't transfer data which you PC won't recognize it

guess i'll just take my chances and hope they don't try and get in the bootloader to see cwm

Suddenly my USB isnt detected anymore! What I mean:
- When I plug the USB cable into PC (mac or linux) it will charge but wont show any notification that the usb has been plugged and to turn on mass storage.
- This happens with stock rom, custom rom, anyway, tested 4 roms, happened to all even stock
- I'm also unable to mount the USB with CWM, nothing happens
What can I possibly do???
Thanks

If you can clean the contacts with a tiny brush (very small pipe cleaner works alright) with a bit of isopropyl alcohol it might helps. Make sure to clean thouroughly. Some people use sharpened toothpicks for cleaning the dirt too.

it does charges... i CANT mount with recovery, nothing happens.. pc drivers arent corrupt because i use linux never needed them...
also.. noticed one thing.. on the boot screen (when u turn on with power + vol up), if i open fastboot devices, it recognizes my phone.. thats really odd!!!
See if you can connect it on another machine, or a Windows machine (I know).
If ADB recognize your device, then you can use commands to copy files to and from the device. You can also use AirDroid to transfer files wirelessly.
I got this same issue today. I have 2 nexus S devices and I flashed all the same things on both using the same USB cable and now one will not mount to PC. This happened after trying that massive tweak package. i will have to wait til next eekend now to try and fix it, when I see my niece again. If you figure this out I would appreciate it if you share with me!
it doesnt make any sense to me fastboot detecting it and android/CWM dont.. thats odd!!!
ok... so it just started to work again now from nothing! cant really explain it! i changed the rom day before yesterday and still wasnt working now with the same rom, started to work again!
I'm having a similar prob as of last night, but fastboot doesn't recognize the phone.
Tried in linux, Windows, Mac, etc......nada.
I just don't get it, I've tried uninstall/reinstall the drivers (current) plus reboots and also multiple usb ports plus turned off all security on my pc just incase with no luck so WHAT IS GOING ON!!?:crying:
Anyone or any site to go to that deal more with computers, I know no links to other sites/forums but maybe PM me

... But.. ."not connecting" isnt really much info to go on. Try to explain a bit better what happens and whats not.
It keeps flashing the 'USB Debugging Connected' than sometimes the pop up comes up on phone to allow 'Charge Mode/Disk Drive' but not always and my computer (Win7) tries to install the driver, it just keeps saying not connected when open HTC Sync and yes have tried all USB ports and uninstalled drivers also under 'Device Manager' there are no exclamation marks anywhere

Well I've tried everything to get Odin and Heimdall to see my phone and NOTHING will work. I used the .apk to get root access and put the modded bootloader on the phone to flash it. That all worked fine but I flashed a new rom with an incompatible bootloader so now I can not read anything on it and it will only bootloop the samsung logo.
I've tried every driver I can find and multiple USB cords. My Galaxy Mega will connect to Odin without any issues at all (So I assume it's not the USB cord or USB slots on the PC), however NOTHING will allow this darn Infuse to show up.
I am using Windows 8 on a Lenovo PC (if that matters). Does anyone have any suggestions that might be able to get me to be detected by Odin so I can take it back to stock and start fresh? Really getting annoyed with this phone's unwillingness to cooperate with my PC.
Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions.

I've already tried that. It would not show up on that computer either. A buddy is gonna bring over a laptop in the next few days so I can try it on that one, but since it has already failed to be recognized on two PC's, I imagine it will also fail on the third.

If you are able to get your phone into DL mode, it sounds like it is still salvageable.
The idea is to get a device recognition with a PC.
If you have already remove and re-install the original samsung drivers, tried different PCs, different USB ports and different USB data cords - then it could the the usb port on the device that is not working correctly.
You can try gently forcing the port in different directions etc..or just take the risk and replace the port yourself or sending to a repair shop.
USB replacement runs about $35 to $50. Mobiletechvideo's currently charges $35

your problem is simple : uninstall all the drivers and Kies. Then reboot and reinstall Kies. now you can connect your phone with odin. It's because in some way, you got your drivers corrupted or changed and they are not able to be used with odin. It happens to me so many times that i cannot count them
So good luck with this issue but im pretty sure you will get rid of this problem with this procedure
Have a nice day !
