Umi X2 bootloop - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I'm trying for days to get my Umi X2 running again.
Momentarily I see the Umi screen, followed bij the start screen where it says android.
Then I see for a few seconds the menu where you can select the language and then reboots.
I tried using Shuame, SP Flash tool and MTK Droid Tools. Nothing seems to work.
Via ADB sideload I can push a package but this gets always aborted.
I used Shuame to push the CWM 6.0.3 recovery to the phone. It states that it worked, but when I reboot to Recovery I can only get to the Factory recovery. Here you can only update software instead of installaing complete zip images.
I read about a guy who had the somewaht same issue. He said that he fumbled around with Shuame and suddenly had a recovery menu of Shuame on his Device.
ADB shell works, but I can;t get to my SDCARD as it says no device found. When I run ADB Devices nothing returns.
I already tried adding my USB device to the ini-file of ADB, to no avail.
Can someone help me get my device running again.

Yeah, I used SP Flash Tool to reflash the recovery.img

I need more details on how did you use the flash tool to solve your problem? I have the same problem here. I need to know how to show (in sp flash tool) where is my downloaded .IMG file. Step by step

[Solved] wont boot after chainfire3d in JB. Fastboot- showing error

I tried installing chainfire3d driver in jellybean( i didnt know then that it is not for JB). Now my nexus wont boot into os. it just stays at the unlocked bootloader logo.
1. I can get into recovery mode
2. I have wiped out the cache and factory reset
3. I dont have a update file in my phone.since nexus dont have an external sd card i cant put any file in it directly.
4. I have tried fastboot -it shows my serial ID and i am able to reboot my phone using it but whenever i try to flash recovery.img or update update.zip it shows "cannot load recovery.img" or "cannot update update.zip"
5. I have tried ADB - on using adb shell it shows "error:device not found"
6. on using Odin (not sure whether it is compatible with Nexus s) it detects my phone. when i tried to flash the stock fireware it fails and my device shows "verify image (radio) fail"
Plz help.Is my phone bricked???????
Ok I don't want to be insulting, but you really REALLY need to read on the whole process of Nexus S rooting and using it.
You don't have to use ODIN at all for something so simple. You simply need to reflash a ROM/your ROM.
Mount your SD from within Clockworkmod recovery and transfer a ROM. Then flash it. Done.
What polo says go to recovery- mount and formay- all the way down "mount sd card". Now your phone will be like a usb drive

[P920/RECOVERY/ICS][11-11-2012] CWM/TWRP for wkPark's alternate uboot

RECOVERY IMAGE for SU760 ICS leak build for P920
This is all based on wkpark's thread here but focused only for p920.
ClockWorkMod(6.0.1.5) and TWRP(2.2.2.1) images as flashable images, to be used after you installed WKPark's alternate bootloader using his root signature. then we get full recovery back working on top of ICS.
Instructions on how to install the recovery.
Click to collapse
Download wkparks fastboot loader from here
and extract contents into a temp folder.
1a. follow his instructions on how to install device drivers then goto step 2 or
1b.
remove battery, attach usbcable between pc and mobile.
Install the omap4430 driver, when you see a device appearing in "devicemanager" named omap4430,
rightclick on it and install driver from the 7z download and look in folder usb_drv_windows for the device driver.
remember to be fast to rightclick as it wil disappear and re-appear often until driver is installed.
1c. pc will find and install driver at next mobile restart (which is some seconds after.
Download the modified x-loader.bin,u-boot.bin,boot.img from this post and extract content into the temp folder from step1 and put files into the files directory found there.
extract attached p920-2-twrp.zip to the files folder you find in your files directory in the temp folder
extract attached p920-3-cwm.zip to the files folder you find in your files directory in the temp folder
remove battery and disconnect usb cable from mobile.
enter the temp you extracted to at step1, and run start_fastboot and select "2" in the menu shown in the commandline console.
attach usb cable
wait for the "start_fastboot to show alot of details and show booting 2ndboot.
attach battery when the 2ndboot information shows
fastboot v0.5 should be shown with a grey LG logo on your mobile now. , if not, go back and follow steps again.
at this stage, it can happen that "fastboot" driver for "LG Cosmo" device is installing but cannot find a driver, so you need to update driver through device manager, and point to the drivers, where the omap4430 driver was located too and update it.
Now its time to flash to new files run the 3 commands (one by one, do not try to copy/paste all 3 lines) shown just below as shown.
execute: fastboot flash x-loader files\x-loader.bin
execute: fastboot flash u-boot files\u-boot.bin
execute: fastboot flash boot files\boot.img
Lastly time to flash your recovery,
execute: fastboot flash recovery files\cwm.img
or
execute: fastboot flash recovery files\twrp.img
you cannot flash both images, as its not possible to have both recoveries installed.

- If you do happen to get a bootloop it has been mentioned now, that it can happen if you copy/paster fastboot commands into the commandline shell.
these steps do NOT change anything of your system or data. it is only the bootloaders and boot.img/recovery.img which will change for the ICS build.
- both recoveries got USB mount storage issues, you will have to transfer files to sdcard or internal memory through windows.
- IMPORTANT: do not try and restore boot.img partition (before this install) from your ICS backups, it will cause the mobile not to boot.
and you will have to do the fastboot steps flashing this boot.img again. (it is caused by the signature is no longer a match)

Here is an alternative:
- download p920-1.zip and unpack to a temp directory.
- download usb_drv_windows.zip and install the driver. This is done when you see "omap4430" appear for a few seconds in device manager, when you attach phone to pc using usb without battery inserted.
- when driver is installed, install one of the recoveries attached to post #1 and unpack to the temp directory too, and finally run "runme.bat" from the temp directory you unpacked. and follow guideline here.
- when you see the commandline information "wait 5 seconds", you re-insert the battery.
- When "fastboot v0.5" shows in the optimus 3D display, you might need to install the fastboot driver(device: LG Cosmo) as well also located in the same zip above where OMAP4430 is found.
- If you do not get the "fastboot v0.5" in the phone display, something went wrong. and you might need to double check that your device manager in windows also shows the "OMAP4430 FastBoot USB device"
Never mind, wainting for a fix. Thanks
sorry guys, my guide works fine and so does the TWRP image and getting into it. But problem is, it seems original recovery does a trick to reset the flag "booting into recovery". So problem now is that it keeps booting into recovery and it cannot boot normally if you get TWRP started once.
I flashed back the original recovery for now and it works fine, when i sign that image with the new signature as well. but not worth much
booting original recovery once and the flag is reset and normal boot is possible.
Ill dig into this and report back and upload a working image, when i figured out the workaround this sad behaviour.
First, thanks for the tutorial and for your work. I wanted to know if this tutorial could be installed boot.img compiled by myself.

yes, we can make custom boot.img as well with the solution he made. scripts and solution is posted in same thread mentioned in step1. i used it to create the recovery.img, but same goes for boot.img.
I hope u can find the solution for this. For some people like me, after we flash the bin, fls, root the device and use twrp. It just wont boot to recovery. So i hope this would work. But thanks again to xbsall for bringing ics to our device. At least now im on ics. Is there anyway i can use original recovery? So u can make a backup and restore if i need to reflash the ics bin again?
Thanks

Finally got the continous reboot to recovery fixed!!!!
The images are bootable and do only reboot once into the recovery now.
the fix was to use some of the original binaries in the recovery so that mounts and binaries were started once.
So its all ok now.
I have also compiled a new CWM v6.0.1.5 from Recovery Builder clockworkmod, so its using latest release here, but it is not tested yet for full functionality.
This is nice. Thanks.

im stuck on highways, but where, might sometime be a good question if you want to avoid it
you cannot get much help unless you give more, so that kinda ends here.
but it might just be that when the OMAP4430 driver is installed and it loads fastboot v0.5 menu, it could be that the "fastboot" driver also needs to be updated.
check your device manager and find any new android device, and refer to the drivers you got with the step1 package or from my post#2 (i believe it could be your LG Cosmo device)
hmm

you are not alone, its all those that do not understand the installation and wkpark's guide on using his tool. it is not that simple as just running an app. if drivers fail to install or you install the wrong driver, you never get fastboot opened, and if you never see fastboot menu on the phone when the tool starts and you insert battery as his guide says many things goes wrong.
but the instructions cannot be much more simple as they are, its 2 drivers its some steps in a command line to execute and thats pretty much it.
I will try it asap. I could go into fastboot mode last time so finger crossed. For those u have some problem going to fasboot mode try search the how to recover ur device to gb from xbsall. It works for me

HOW TO INSTALL RECOVERY IMAGE WITH SUCCESS
I just installed it and it works as it should.
Here's how to do it.
1. Boot into fastboot
2. After installing drivers for OMAP and LG Cosmo, start the shell.
3. Execute lines one by one:
fastboot flash x-loader files\x-loader.bin
then
fastboot flash u-boot files\u-boot.bin
and
fastboot flash boot files\boot.img
EXECUTING THEM ALL WILL LEAD IN A BOOTLOOP, DONT WORRY ITS FINE
4. Boot into fastboot and flash them again.
fastboot flash x-loader files\x-loader.bin
then
fastboot flash u-boot files\u-boot.bin
and
fastboot flash boot files\boot.img
5. Flash recovery image.
fastboot flash recovery files\cwm.img
or
fastboot flash recovery files\twrp.img
After boot, install ROM Manager and reboot into recovery.
If you still have problems, go back and do everything right.

try and flash all the "fastboot" files as written once more, and maybe for testing purposes, try the cwm.img instead of twrp image. you can also switch to twrp when you see you got it working. i do not flash all files switching, only cwm or twrp images needs to be flashed.
When the bootloader is updated, we can actually flash boot and recovery images from a shell prompt now. as long as the image is with signature. but fastboot will just be a brick recovery step when you first got it working.

does custom recovery installation involves rooting phone?
is it not possible to flash unrooted phones?

Is my warranty still intact?
what i did by flashing the boot partition?

OK I'll spend some time here so you can understand. Warranty can be checked in most phones with locked bootloaders . ours is not locked. Bootloader locked means no change can be made unofficially by us.
The only way they can find warranty on our phone is if you use official root method.
For this purpose we have unofficial root method.
Now about partitions. /boot is the kernel. Its like drivers for your hardware.
/system is the os. It is either rooted or unrooted like in windows having admin account or normal account.
You can either use an OS which has already admin account by using a rooted ROM or you can use a limited unrooted ROM and then root it thereby making it an admin account.
Now recovery is a mini OS which will help you to recover your OS in case something is wrong. Stock recovery has limited options and allows only official updates. Custom recovery has more options and allows unofficial updates like our prerooted already admin OS/ROM.
Finally fast boot is like your Intel BIOS. Whatever happens as long as it is working you're saved. All other things like recovery, boot, system can be modified from here.
Now you flashed boot.img using fast boot and if you got a success message you're good. Use a recovery image in one of the xolo play threads and flash it using the instructions provided there.
This is required for you to install ROM.
Finally, don't worry about warranty. In case you ever need warranty, follow instructions in my ROM post about warranty. Where you can flash the ROM and recovery that came with the phone. So no worries and good luck.
Edit: for you, since you're so worried, simply install cwm recovery, then install stock odexed ROM, install build.prop.zip then reinstall stock recovery and you're like how u purchased the phone.

How to root elephone P6000?

So I'm using Elephone P6000 (Aka Just5 Blaster2 as named in Latvia).
I searched many places couldn't find anything.
Tried to open bootloader via fastboot but "fastboot oem unlock" or "fastboot flashing unlock" doesn't work and shows me error
"FAILED (Remote: Unknown command)" But the second option was mentioned on help. Also I didn' t found oem unlock option in dev options.
So post any ways how to root.
Ps My android version is 5.0
Just install SuperSU from Play Store and let it update binary. The phone i factory bootloader unlocked and prerooted.
It can't download su binary because of android 5
It has nothing to do with lollipop, how do you try to do that?

It shows: There is no su binary and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just installed android 5 you have to re root.
It said something like that.
Ok, I didn't have that problem.
Have you tried with Kingroot.

Yes, I tried every app. Can't you tell how to do it manually or at least help me with the problem I can; t flash custom recovery.
It shows that I have flashed it but I still have old stock recovery. I used fastboot.
Use SP Flash Tools to flash custom recovery. You can find TWRP recovery on needrom site, and you have a lot of tutorials how to use SP Flash Tools.
It doesn't work. I turned phone off and on and still just stands still and does nothing.
In which mode I have to turn phone on?
I used stock ROM text and carliv recovery to flash.
To use Flash Tool you need to turn of the phone, remove the battery, press download button in tool and then connect your phone, not turning it on. I got an error trying to flash recovery with Flash Tool, but it's not a real error, phone simply disconnected from PC before it checks if the flash was successful.
Nothings happens Just shows "Super Phone flash tool(Runtime trace mode).
I did everything I need, connected via usb with no battery in phone.
I have phone normal and adb drivers. Meh.
Have you even red some tutorial how to use SP Flash Tool?
Try with tool and tutorial from here:
http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-1037-1-1.html#.Vryb6fIrK01
As I told you, you need to start Flash tool, select rom to flash (scatter file), in your case to deselect all partitions, select custom recovery, click on download and then to connect phone to PC. It's all written in tutorial, all you need is to read.
I have the same problem, this phone seems to be unrootable and without the possibility to flash a costum recovery, help me please,MMI TEST on the device appears everytime I reboot phone and I launch an app so I want costum recovery to manually root and remove this system app,HELP PLEASE.
Custom recovery flashing and rooting your phone are advanced user activities, if you can't learn how to use SP Flash Tool you shouldn't try to do it.

As I already posted you have it all here:

For Win 8-10 you need to disable driver signature verification.

What Windows do you use?
You need stock rom because of the scatter file.

Can I still install any recovery(CWM or TWRP) after I have forgotten my password?

My question is: Is there any way that i can install any custom recovery now, when I am locked out of my phone, so I can try Method 7 from this post . I have enabled USB debugging, but for some reason, my device is unauthorized from executing adb commands.
I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, and have forgotten its password. I have tried Method 2, 5 and 6 from this post, but to no avail.
I tried method 2 and 5 which requires ADB to be installed, but I was not able to access my phone. I have USB debugging enabled and my phone is not rooted. When I tried to run the following code:
Code:
adb devices
adb shell
it showed that my phone is unauthorized and error: device unauthorized This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Here's the screenshot:
When trying method 6, I had to change the path of ADB driver because the file I downloaded from the post, had its own ADB driver which clashed with my already installed ADB driver, but even after that, it again showed the above error. Here' the screenshot:
Finally I want to try method 7 from the above post, which requires custom recovery to be installed on the phone, is there any way now?
Though it seems now that the I have only one option left and that is to factory reset my phone, but if , there is any other way by which I can bypass my lock screen, please please please inform me.
Of course you can. Just boot your phone into fastboot and do "fastboot flash recovery <recovery image name>.IMG" and you'll flash it. And you can't access the adb because your screen is locked... This is how companies prevent phone hacking
So flash custom recovery, backup the /data , factory reset and after resetting restore the /data backup. And you're good to go. I suggest you using TWRP, because I use it and it never left me hanging Keep me updated.

Install TWRP or CWM with fastboot and then flash the Unlock me! zip that I've created and you won't lose your data.

Didn't know that such package existed... I'd still do it my way if your phone was laggy/corrupted,... Else do the package flash. Keep me updated!

OK... So first boot into fastboot. When you've done that, connect It to your pc with usb, download fastboot package from somewhere on xda(you'll find it).
Open command prompt "CD" to the directory where your fastboot is located in, put recovery image in the folder where fastboot.exe is and type "fastboot flash recovery <recovery file name>.IMG". I'm gonna update this answer in 2 days, when I get to my pc, so try to do it by these instructions, if something isn't working, comment and we'll resolve the problem. If something isn't clear, just ask. Keep me updated.

Can unlocking my bootloader somehow brick my phone?
Everything can brick your phone. Updating my lenovo phone with official update hardbricked mine... But yeah, it can.
