However, Amazon now has Sandisk Class 10 64gb microSD cards for just over $50. also a very good deal, much less than they used to be, just over twice what two 32gb cards would cost.
Always better to get larger sizes if affordable. Even if you don't think you would use that much now, you might in the future.
What is outrageous is the phone manufacturers who do not include a slot for a memory card, and then charge totally outrageous prices for increased flash memory, $100 more for bumping up the flash memory by 16GB, etc. (Whereas a 16GB card could probably be had today for $10 or so.) Of course Apple started that, but it seems that other manufacturers are now copying that as a way to rip people off.

I hear ya. But we're power user who need the space. The average user can't seem to fill that internal space.
People justified the move to have no SD card is because of "security" reasons. I read up on it and still don't agree that the security concern justifies the removal of it.
But hey. People will spend what they want to spend.

I have shopped around for these and Ebay seems to be the best. Here is the one that I got. Very good price. $14.50 with free shipping. Sure beats paying over $80
How reliable will that card be at that price point? I have purchased many items from Ebay, and memory cards being one of them. I have never had a problem out of mine, but at that price it almost seems to good to be true. I am looking forward to an update.
I heard that some of them aren't actually a 32gb, I heard that they are actually less than that.

Yep, that's correct! Lots of BS USB drives and SD cards that are just 2 and 4 GB but the firmware is bogus.
I had bought one a few months ago and it worked great. And was a true 32 gigger. Then...... I got a phone Call while I was uploading mp3's and without thinking I just unplugged the USB cable. Well that's not good to do. Always properly unmount. Thats why i just ordered another one. I will keep you guys posted on how this one works. Should be here any day now.

Never buy flash on eBay. I bought a 32GB SDHC a few months ago, one of hundreds of similar ones being sold by multiple other sellers. On the computer it showed as 32GB, formatted correctly, and everything. But it was not even 1GB in truth.
There is a price it costs to produce even the worst 32GB cost, and that cost is much higher than 15$.
For a MicroSD, the best right now is the Wintec 16GB Class 10 one at 30$.

I'm not quite sure how that video proves that the SD card I just bought is a fake. What's your point exactly?
IMHO, I think it's strictly a reference to the price..........legit sellers can't come even close to it plus offer free or low shipping as well. Best way to check is to download and run the proggy I listed above. Anywho, I seen this scam playout on many USB thumb drives, would be good to confirm a cheap legit seller!

most likely, if you found a 32gb class 10, it's a fake.
google sosfakeflash and h2testw
make sure to test it properly with that h2testw. Simply connecting it to your computer / phone and formatting it will not tell you the true capacity, since it has been reprogrammed to lie about its true capacity... You have to see how much actual data you can write to it and still recover.
Well what happen with this? Was it a fake? Test?

Goodluck tho.

What he is trying to say (although somewhat unclearly) is that counterfeit SD cards often have markings that are not quite correct. If you Google around there are articles or forum posts with photos of fake SD cards versus the real ones.
Of course, there are good fakes that get the markings right. So the only way to know for sure is to test for both capacity and write speed, as others already mentioned.

$53 is a darn good price. I got a SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC on a best buy daily deal for $49 about a month ago. Doesn't look like they even carry it now on their site, but Amazon has it for $82.

Better check the the actual size of that card. On SD cards it is possible to fake the card so it reports a larger size than the card actually is.
You might look at this URL http://flashchiptech.wordpress.com/...ownload-to-check-flash-drives-and-memory-car/
Also it is best to format SD cards with a dedicated formatter. I like SDformatter
Also a good test program is H2testw See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730285

Are you letting it do the default ('exFAT") format in Windows/7? You don't want that, although it works with the Samsung ROM, it won't work with Cyanomod unless you format it as "FAT32" instead. You can use the command-line switches or there's a "FAT32 Gui" program somewhere around here - I can't seem to put my fingers on the link right now, but I found it within the past few days. If you can, use the phone to format it instead of a PC, that always insures FAT32. ("exFAT" isn't supported by CYM because of the funky licensing Microsoft has for exFAT)
Aside from card size, doesnt card speed play a factor in whether these 64gb cards will work? Isnt the appropriate question "what is the best deal on a 64gb class 10 SD card that actually works"?

when buying the 64gb version, keep this which is posted on amazon in mind:
- Reformat into file system other than exFAT may cause instability
- Only compatible with SDXC enabled device in exFAT format per SD Standard
if this is in the wrong forum please move it.

have a 64gb in mine as i type with no issues.
I had to do an RMA with Sandisk because the 64GB microSDXC would not stay mounted in my S3 nor would it in my Note II. So I received a new one and guess what, it's doing the same thing in my S4. I've only gotten the unmount/remount three times in the past month, so that's a lot better than the last card. I'm going to give it some time before I order another. For what it's worth, I used a Samsung 32GB microSDXC in my last two phones and it never had any issues. Worked flawlessly.
I'm going to see if this is still going on today. I'd hate to think I missed it. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes. I got a sandisk 32gb ultra in the mail a few days ago. During install in twrp it was making all the Roms I tried finish prematurely. Needless to say the roms wouldn't boot. So I'm willing to spend the same amount more or less.. Don't need anything more than 32gb or probably anything over 16. Of course the more the merrier.

I got sandisk 16gb from amazon. Paid a good $22 for it. Around the same time, bought samsung 16gb micro sd while it was on sale for my tablet.
Three months into use, sandisk just stopped working. All the photos I took over the period of three months lost with it. Mind you, I'm not tech- illiterate, so I attempted different methods to recover my data with no luck.
Contacted sandisk, and received a new micro sd through warranty. A months into use, it failed again. Luckily, I had backed up my photos with dropbox, so no real losses except wasted time.
Didn't even bother to file warranty and tossed the sd out.
Been using samsung microsd for good six months with no problem.

If you search the forums, you will find that MANY people report (and I experienced it too) that any card other than a Samsung can be problematic. I have a 32GB Class10 card from A-Data or Kingston or some other major name and it worked fine in my Atrix for a year or so. Got my S4 and put the card in it. Regularly and routinely, the phone would "lose" the card or claim it needed formatting because it was "damaged."
My Samsung card has had zero issues. You should be able to get a 32GB Sammy for about $20.

Here on XDA there are significantly less problems with Samsung SD's compared to Sandisk. Especially using the larger (64GB for example) sizes.
When using an SGS4 and in need of a large card simply use the Samsung one. And format it Fat32 when not in need of files >=4GB. Best combo of compatibility.
IMHO, of course

sd card in my phone can not be read. does this mean it is broken?
This is a link of 2015 best Micro SD cards. Samsung has 10 year warranty and sits at second with Pro. That's what I'm going with. Google originally skipped external data due to its lack of speed and durability. This chart will show you what you should get to prepare for Android M at the end of September.

SanDisk has a U3 card ,Xtreme pro, that wasn't tested and is rated at 95mb/s
I'd still go with a 10 year warranty. SD cards aren't always most reliable. With 10 years, at least you have peace of mind knowing it might last several years.
Samsung Pro+ isn't on here either, but that's $50 for 32GB, as opposed to $27 on Amazon.

My issue is I have had 2 Samsung's fail in the past. I have 10 different sized SanDisk cards in the house and some older than 10 years. A 10 year warranty doesn't make it a better card. My point is not to buy a card or any product based on warranty.

I'm not worried about a warranty on a sub $50 product. Especially one that has no moving parts.
I purchased the Sandisk Extreme Pro.
I ended up with the PNY. Fast and lifetime warranty: PNY U3 Turbo Performance 64GB High Speed MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-I, up to 90MB/sec Flash Card (P-SDUX64U390G-GE) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W77C1QU/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_7iJ7vbWPXSV4D

You just contradicted yourself by liking RyanTXs post haha! SD cards quit working for no reason all the time. No moving parts have nothing to do with it. Just magnetism and radio waves can cause them to lose all data and stop working.

There's nothing magnetic in flash memory, bud.
Magnetic energy waves cause corrupt data. Seriously, how did you find this place?

I liked his post because he bought the same card I did. [emoji123]
Can I ask why no one purchased the Transcend card? In this review at least it was the fastest card right? Do they have a bad name or something?
I find it hard to believe that Sandisk is one of the worst performers. They're the most highly recognized name in sd cards.

All SanDisk cards have lifetime guarantee. I've replaced a couple over the years and all you have to do is chat online with them and tell them when you bought the card and what's wrong with it. You get an RMA and send it in. You'll get your new card in a couple weeks.

Too bad the write performance dips when you get to 128 gigs. It'd be nice to see some comparison between the various 128 gig offerings, but whatever, I already bought a Sandisk one. I honestly have no idea why someone would buy a 32 gig microSD these days. With how cheap the cards are, I'd go 64 if interested in speed, 128 if interested in storage.
Never used more than 16GB in my phone ever. Never understood people who bought more storage than they knew they would need...

Some people like to put their entire music collection on their phones. Also if you plan to use the new 4K video recording feature, file sizes are about 350mb per minute.

Because 32gb was about $30 and 64gb was about $60... Not worth it to me

That's fine, if you plan on using those functions. I just don't get people who give others a hard time for not wasting $30 for life choices on how they use storage.
