have a 64gb in mine as i type with no issues.

I had to do an RMA with Sandisk because the 64GB microSDXC would not stay mounted in my S3 nor would it in my Note II. So I received a new one and guess what, it's doing the same thing in my S4. I've only gotten the unmount/remount three times in the past month, so that's a lot better than the last card. I'm going to give it some time before I order another. For what it's worth, I used a Samsung 32GB microSDXC in my last two phones and it never had any issues. Worked flawlessly.

I'm going to see if this is still going on today. I'd hate to think I missed it. Thanks for the heads up.

Can't believe I missed this. I have a 32gb but would like to upgrade to a 64gb but not for the standard price.

Anyone have a 32GB? If so, do you have problems with flashing roms in TWRP with it? I can't install the Mint Jelly Rom using the 32GB, so I switched to my old 16GB and was able to flash the rom. I don't know if its the recovery or the card.

Yes. I got a sandisk 32gb ultra in the mail a few days ago. During install in twrp it was making all the Roms I tried finish prematurely. Needless to say the roms wouldn't boot. I took that out and stuck my other sandisk 32gb sdcard in there that's not ultra but just a microsdhc and it worked fine. I sent the ultra card back to amazon and got a refund.

That's odd, the sandisk works just fine in mine.
As low as $62 on Amazon right now. I got mine for $53. You gotta watch for price breaks.

$53 is a darn good price. I got a SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC on a best buy daily deal for $49 about a month ago. Doesn't look like they even carry it now on their site, but Amazon has it for $82.
I bought one of the eBay 16.99 ones. We'll see what and if I get something.

Better check the the actual size of that card. On SD cards it is possible to fake the card so it reports a larger size than the card actually is.
You might look at this URL http://flashchiptech.wordpress.com/...ownload-to-check-flash-drives-and-memory-car/
Also it is best to format SD cards with a dedicated formatter. I like SDformatter
Also a good test program is H2testw See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730285

Are you letting it do the default ('exFAT") format in Windows/7? You don't want that, although it works with the Samsung ROM, it won't work with Cyanomod unless you format it as "FAT32" instead. You can use the command-line switches or there's a "FAT32 Gui" program somewhere around here - I can't seem to put my fingers on the link right now, but I found it within the past few days. If you can, use the phone to format it instead of a PC, that always insures FAT32. ("exFAT" isn't supported by CYM because of the funky licensing Microsoft has for exFAT)
Aside from card size, doesnt card speed play a factor in whether these 64gb cards will work? Isnt the appropriate question "what is the best deal on a 64gb class 10 SD card that actually works"?

However, Amazon now has Sandisk Class 10 64gb microSD cards for just over $50. also a very good deal, much less than they used to be, just over twice what two 32gb cards would cost.
Always better to get larger sizes if affordable. Even if you don't think you would use that much now, you might in the future.
What is outrageous is the phone manufacturers who do not include a slot for a memory card, and then charge totally outrageous prices for increased flash memory, $100 more for bumping up the flash memory by 16GB, etc. (Whereas a 16GB card could probably be had today for $10 or so.) Of course Apple started that, but it seems that other manufacturers are now copying that as a way to rip people off.

I hear ya. But we're power user who need the space. The average user can't seem to fill that internal space.
People justified the move to have no SD card is because of "security" reasons. I read up on it and still don't agree that the security concern justifies the removal of it.
But hey. People will spend what they want to spend.

Advice on samsung 64gb Micro sd card

Hello guys, im thinking to get a new 64gb micro sd card for my s4 19505, currently using a 32gb samsung class 10 one with no issues at all.
So I"ve found 2 choices which im interested in. Can someone please suggest which one would be more better and compatible with the s4 as i have read that some cards give problems. Neverthess i found the following two on ebay:
Samsung Essentials 64gb Class 10:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=111210443073
Samsung Pro UHS-1 64gb Class 10:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=151162891126
The price difference is not much. If anyone has owned either one, could you please give some feedback and advice. Thanks

I would go with the Pro in the second link. The first one looks entry level (might even be fake).
I have the pro, it's ok, not sure if it's a problem with my phone or pc, but if I try to copy too much onto it at once (usually when I copy a few albums at a time), it fails after a while (10 mins or so), meaning I have to copy things over bit at a time leaving a bit of time between the copying, almost like the card gets hot or copy cache gets overloaded (not sure if it does). It's a step up from the sandisc ultra 64GB ones I've had that just refuse to work (had two that just don't work any more). Could be due to me running Pac Rom (I've kept it updated to the most recent stable build). Just to mention, it has the same issues regardless of format (NTFS or FAT32). Never had any of these issues with 32GB cards. Still, the sammy one does at least work. Hope that helps.
Thanks for feedback, still not sure which one to get out the two, was feeling the pro one but as its mentioned that it has some errors im having 2nd thoughts now.
Currently have the 32gb Samsung essentials version which is flawless... maybe the 64gb of it could be just as good?? Anyone currently have one and could please shed some light? Thanks

Didn't know how much a sd card mattered as far as the difference between them all. Glad i read this before I bought one for mine.

I bought a 64GB MicroSD card on ebay and it was fake. Between receiving it and returning it, took me 3 weeks, and I had to pay for return shipping. It turned out it was stamped as a 64GB card but only held 4GB. Save your time. I then went on amazon about 6 months ago and bought samsung branded 64GB micro SD card and have never had any problems with it to date. I definitely recommend the samsung micro sdxc UHS-1 Class 10. It's the one i'm using.

I don't know if Amazon is just people selling their stuff on their like eBay... Or if it's like a department store online.
EBay is full of people who buy Crap faulty cards in bulk and sell them for a profit. Just wanted to make sure Amazon wasn't the same thing

Your Galaxy S4 will support exFAT out of the box (provided you're running a stock or stock based ROM), so no need to reformat to FAT32. Only if you're running a custom ROM, such as CyanogenMOD would you need to do that, as those don't support exFAT (exFAT is not open source).

I have bought many items from Amazon and have never had an issue.
I am using a Samsung Class 10 64gb card and I formatted it to exfat. It's been a while ago so I can't remember what the reasoning was but I have never had an issue with it.
When I got mine some kernals didn't support exfat, also cwm couldn't read exfat but I think that has changed now.
I am on an MDK phone so I can flash custom kernals, if you are using safestrap things may be different.
Maybe someone with more expertise on the subject will chime in.
Well I am running a Touchwiz based rom. So I don't know if that means anything one way or the other I guess...
However, I did get this one...

SD card suggestions.. Please help.

At the moment I have a 32gb ultra SD card in my s4. The SD card is damaged for whatever reason. So I was wondering, what's the best type of SD card for me to get. I spent 20$ on my sdcard. So I'm willing to spend the same amount more or less.. Don't need anything more than 32gb or probably anything over 16. Of course the more the merrier.

Three months into use, sandisk just stopped working. All the photos I took over the period of three months lost with it. Mind you, I'm not tech- illiterate, so I attempted different methods to recover my data with no luck.
Contacted sandisk, and received a new micro sd through warranty. A months into use, it failed again. Luckily, I had backed up my photos with dropbox, so no real losses except wasted time.
Didn't even bother to file warranty and tossed the sd out.
Been using samsung microsd for good six months with no problem.
This is my experience, and you may have (had) better luck than I.

SanDisk Ultra 64GB is perfect, Class 10. Working since 8 months!
I have SanDisk class 10 and my S4 is rebooting randomly. So if you can, go away from that card.
I have a SanDisk 32 Class 10... my phone won't boot with it in. I took it out. It's in my car somewhere.

Had to warranty my 32gb Sandisk Class 10 ... was causing weird issues and lost everything. New one is good so far. Wonder if there's a bad batch out there.

If you search the forums, you will find that MANY people report (and I experienced it too) that any card other than a Samsung can be problematic. I have a 32GB Class10 card from A-Data or Kingston or some other major name and it worked fine in my Atrix for a year or so. Got my S4 and put the card in it. Regularly and routinely, the phone would "lose" the card or claim it needed formatting because it was "damaged."
My Samsung card has had zero issues. You should be able to get a 32GB Sammy for about $20.

Where can I find one? Amazon? I was told the same thing as you stated in the first sentence. Just might go with a Samsung card. I was going to get a Kingston, but it makes more sense to go with the same name brand my phone is Lol. Since I've had multiple issues with San disk.

Just got a 64gb Class 10/UHS1 Samsung micro Sd at BestBuy....$59. No issues after 4 days. Sandisk cards errored several times a day. FWIW.
I must be the only one to never have a problem with any SanDisk cards ever in my life. Have a 64GB ultra in my S4 now. Running just fine for months.

Yup I shop at Amazon first.
I've used a Sandisk 16gb SDHC UHS-1 and a Sandisk 64gb SDXC UHS-1. Both are reliable and have survived multiple drops.
You are not the only one !

Out of 2100 reviews (posted up to Feb 2013) on Amazon, the SanDisk Ultra has a 4.5 star average (1500 of the reviews give it a full five stars). It’s the most popular and best-rated on Amazon.
A few complain doesn't make it everybody.
I am on SanDisk fast Micro SD cards in the last 10 years without one issue.

Here on XDA there are significantly less problems with Samsung SD's compared to Sandisk. Especially using the larger (64GB for example) sizes.
When using an SGS4 and in need of a large card simply use the Samsung one. And format it Fat32 when not in need of files >=4GB. Best combo of compatibility.
IMHO, of course

I looked at amazon, they have ultra extreme pro, and what not. What is best? I'm probably going to buy a 32gb.. Any suggestions?

I've had my 32gb UHS 1 Sandisk SD for a long time, well over 6 months and I have never had a problem. I had a 16gb Samsung SD card before that with no problems I just needed more storage.

I am using the same SanDisk Ultra 64Gb same as you, though the first one that I bought gave me a lot of problems (Constantly ejecting, then eventually, the phone no longer recognizes it.) Then I bought another 64Gb and I never had any problems from there.
It seems that those having issues with Sandisk probably got theirs from a faulty batch that Sandisk even admitted.
