I have some doubts on android development - General Topics

I have some doubts on android development, I currently have most of my code within the onCreate() method.
Am I doing it wrong? I mean, where does the app spend the most time? onresume?
or oncreate?

yeah ok, for that you need the launcher called Next Launcher 3d (pro version only), it is paid and can let you hide the status bar.

You can hide the status bar with any launcher... Go Launcher, Nove Launcher, ADW launcher...

He's probably talking about all the time, not just on the home screen. SlimROM has this feature. The status bar is hidden unless a there is a notification.

[Q] Hide System Bar on ICS?

Is there a way to hide the system bar?
maybe something like THIS?
+1
Love this idea
Try the link below for the apk........... i havent tried it on ics yet
was just going to post up as an attachment but its not frickin working on the ics browser
http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/
it is not working for me
me either - sorry guys
From what I understand, Google pretty much locked it out completely, so it's impossible at the moment to hide the status bar. It's really annoying. :/
From the author of Honeybar: "*** Important note for ICS users: Honeybar is unsupported on ICS and will not hide the UI bar. I have examined the source for ActivityManagerService and it currently appears impossible to stop com.android.systemui"

Damn that sucks. I hope Google changes their mind or someone finds a way around this problem. I find it extremely irritating to use video and reading apps with the system bar at the bottom.
I guess I will stick with Android 3.2 for now.
There's a tweak for the Galaxy Nexus that remove the bottom bar entirely, and the person who posted it says to use ButtonSavior (on the market) to replace the soft keys. The newest AOKP rom also includes a feature to remove the navigation bar which I assume is pretty much the same as the bar on tablets.
The mod is over on RootzWiki, not sure if I can post links to it, or if it will work for the TF or could be adapted for it.
See, it's things like this that make me wonder. Why in the world would google, or anyone, lock things down so much that nobody can change anything? Disabling the status bar in honeycomb didn't do any harm. I never heard a single complaint of a bricked tablet or software problem because of disabling the status bar.
Yes!!!
Team EOS has the option the hide the system bar in an easy to use manner.
Where?

Where? Searched for "status" "system" "bar" "hide" in varying combinations as well as individually. Could you point me in the right direction. TIA.
From looking around the framework-res etc what i have seen that ICS is based on a theme called holo. Now if we could modify the framework-res and strip the black and make it transparent it should be able to be done. Decompiling it has been no problem however I am too new at themeing to provide any definite answers to recompile framework-res as i have tried but it just will not register as a proper apk. There is one issue with that however, the holo theme is involved with almost everything to do with the system. Example backgrounds for the menu system and the onscreen keyboard and a pile of other stuff plus the assorted icons would still be present back button home apps button clock and wifi.
All the edits were because my cursor diappeared.

It's part of the ROM. They don't appear to have a separate app to hide the system bar, so we have to use the full rom for now. It works the same way pre-ICS Revolver did.
Couldn't find anything on Team EOS tread about it.

With EOS for TF101 you press the power button to get the menu option to hide the status bar. The menu is shown in baseballfanz's post.

This works perfect on my A500 running ICS 4.0.3 rooted using live wallpaper - no issues whatsoever, thanks for the tip! Also really liked the gestures part of the whole thing as I can make apps launch from anywhere and probably won't even use the status bar much at from now on.

Removing Top Status Bar when running apps

Just moved from LG G2 to Z5 PREMIUM - trying to figure out how I can hide the very top status bar when running apps, must be a way I hope. Any advice welcomed.

Notification/Status Bar in Android 6

Is there a way to disable the annoying "feature" of transparent status bar? I've been searching for days and am only finding Xposed modules recommended or status bar replacement apps but I just want to disable the transparency, nothing else. Is there a way to do in Android V6 (Marshmallow) on Samsung Touchwiz?

it s default on android 6.0 system UI so you have use a 3rd party tool or app to disable it.
like nova launcher > setting > looks & feel > disable transparent notification bar
there is no setting in Android System itself

Damn, so much for Android being the OS of "options". Another IOS, here we come?
Is there any other app you are aware of instead of a full-blown launcher? Something simpler?

Got it. Did that, thanks man. Is there a way to disable the "expansion" of notifications by default? After I rooted, all notifications are showing expanded. It used to take a two-finger swipe down to expand each but now they just all show up like that by default. And I'm not even able to collapse them. They start collapsing when I do two-finger swipe up but go back to their expanded mode when let go.

technically when there is expanded option for a notification so user may need to do something! >> it s useful
to collapse it two-finger swipe up should work just make sure put two finger correctly!

The two finger swipe looks like it's gonna happen with the notification starting to collapse as expected but then expands back when the fingers are released. It will not stay collapsed. And they are ALL expanded by default, even a silly screenshot notification and other notifications that didn't used to be expanded before I rooted but are now.

Remove Update Batch?

Hello!
So long story short I have blocked updates on my S8+ because I like my Navbar Black. But recently I removed the "block" and it registrered the update, but didn't download it. But now I have this annoying red "1" batch on the settings shortcut (the one located over the notifications-bar toggles). Anyway to remove this?

Hey try clearing data for software update and settings app . Mostly clearing for software update app will be enough.
Seriously, take the update, it is security relevant and has the hiding navbar. Use the navbar app app (yes), to keep it any color you like. Free and lightweight.
I seriously urge you to take the update because of the patches in there.

I have been considering taking the update.. Mostly because I've heard there should be another update on the they where you can control battery hocking app more.
That said I can already hide my navbar with Custom Navigation Bar (app), BUT I hate not having the navbar there at all times.. It's so annoying..
Also are you 100% sure Navbar apps can overwrite the system color?
Also I've heard people say the navbar is no longer transparent on the homescreen? And that is just ridiculous..

Ohh nice! Thank you, do you use Navbar apps? Hide it? Or just use some of the other colors?
Can you tell me which other colors you can use now?
Nav bar is transparent on home screen, I can confirm.
Screenshot attached.
Just tried "Navbar apps" by Damian Piwowarski in app store but it only works partially. It will turn the bar black when I am inside the navbar apps app and it is black when i open the app store, contacts screen, chrome, gallery, citymapper and some others, but on the home screen in Nova (the worst one since it looks ridiculous with my black background), and in bluemail and CM browser it is still white. Perhaps it is a different app @corwin_amber was talking about?
I think, we are both talking about the same app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.damianpiwowarski.navbarapps
I am using Nova Prime launcher, however and even Substratum for Samsung (no Root, would never do that) to theme everything to my likes and needs.
To me, personally, having a secure device is important, maybe different priorities (which is completely fine to me).

Help me! Android Oreo Can't disable navigation bar

My phone was on android 7.0, deleted the navigation bar and yesterday I went to android 8.0 can not delete the navigation bar anymore. Can someone show me how to delete navigation bar on android 8 ? Thanks very much.

You can use an app over on the play store known as "SystemUI Tuner" and you can toggle immersive mode fully, nav bar only (which is what you're looking for), and status bar only. You can do that after giving permissions via ADB or root access grant, if possible.
Forgot to add a screenshot of the app, you could plausibly use it at your will. I don't know if it will work since i don't have oreo myself but i believe it has support for it.

I had a similar problem and nova fixed it.

Just tested it right now. The nav bar does pop out when you're using the keyboard and when you have the notification panel dropped down.
Did someone found a way to hide the navbar while the keyboard or notification panel is present? Well annoying this is!
