[Q] sense 5? - HTC One S

Hey. I lately heard there wont be a sense 5 update. But i was looking around here on xda and i saw many custom roms have [sense 5] in there thread title. I was wondering, is it just a sense 5 theme with sense 5 launcher or is really a ported sense 5 with all features? Like blik feed and such? And if yes which rom comes closest to stock sense 5 for the htc one s?

Those are full Sense 5 roms ported from various devices. I suggest TrickDroid 10.3.2.
You get blinkfeed, the full Sense5 experience, also Camera, Zoe and a very smooth experience. Without forgetting about 26 hours of battery life!

So also the full ui and framework are ported? Impressive.
As far as he told me, the camera app has great features like taking photo's fast behind each other when holding the camera button. Is the camera app replaced with the sense 5 camera with all his features, is it replaced with aosp camera or does the rom have the stock firmware camera?
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app

It has the full Sense 5 camera, with full support and Zoe. Forget about that ugly quality you find in AOSP or CM10. These are drivers that fully supports the One S camera.

Zoe isn't working?

Well thanks guys. I found the trickdroid thread and read some of the comments. But without working wifi thetering, it isnt very usefull for him. Also he was going to buy a smartwatch soon and that requires bluetooth.
So for now he will keep sense4+. But i will subscribe to the trickdroid thread and see how it goes.

Sense roms

I know this has probably been asked plenty of times, but I'm bored of cyanogenmod (again) and wanted people's opinions on the best as we seem to be getting a lot of official support now. Which sense rom is your favourite and reasons why please?
I've had my fun with ICS and am now waiting for a stable release so no ICS recommendations for ICS please.

Choice of ROM is a very personal thing but at the moment I am using Endymion v3 and am extremely happy with it. It just seems to work, and I use it heavily for work - Bluetooth, Wireless, Calls, SMS, Camera, GPS etc

I've seen Endymion as the best choice and I would've switched back to it but the list has grown since I flashed Endymion which is why I wanted to know which people prefer now.

Another vote for Endymion very nice rom with great support, even though I'm on aosp oxygen at the moment as it absolutely flys.

I'm Endymion V3 and just wouldn't consider anything else to be honest .The help and support lowveld gives is amazing
i also use endymion v3 if i had the delight to use sense
I use Endymion 2.2 with the fixes from 3.0. I only like the stock look, so don't feel the need to theme and lose 200+mb.
It's all personal preference!

+1 to endymion v3 here too!! great sense 3.5 rom, excellent battery life and awesome tweaks!
The only gripe I have is the the sense 3.5 dockbar, I find it ugly and somewhat blown up, especially with the text (applications, personalization)
kept changing between the two-button bliss bar and stock 3.5 bar and couldn't settle on either
hope someone would make a sense 3.0 /2.1 dockbar mod for it!!
Is there a way to sense 3.5 rom has a normal font for the screen of our Desire S? Small fonts is something that annoys me a lot, and see how Rhyme rom only has something like that, but it seems that unfortunately proxuser left development of the Rom :/

Yeh.. I sort of got used to it now though
However when I went to use a Desire S in the store again, 2.1 sense, the icons and fonts were massive!! I was like wow!!
Also I used the Sensation XL, and sense 3.5 looks lovely on it, the icons are all giant and easy to see!

Sense 4 inverted front facing camera

Is there a sense 4 Rom without this problem yet?
I know that development only goes so fast and I am VERY greatful for where we are I just want to know.
I would think that the new ruu would have fixed this.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA
Inverted front-facing-camera is a known bug in Sense 4 ROMs.
Camera's are like the human-eyes, they capture the imagine inverted, process it and flip it round, then display it to the user. Something will be broken somewhere =)
All Sense 4 ROMs are ports remember, Sense 4 never came to the XE natively, bugs are expected They'll be fixed in time my friend.

[Q] By Rooting, Will i lose Beats Audio ?

I was waiting for a stable release of CM9 which came weeks back and i downloaded it on the same day itself.
I love love love the Sense UI, the lockscreen and way i get music, missed calls and messages over it which has been restraining me from rooting along with the new black notification bar !
Another thing holding me back is that after rooting and flashing CM9 I will most definitely lose the Beats Audio Integration right ?
So...suggestions ?
If you love Sense, dont switch to Cyanogen. Its nothing like Sense.
But you will still benefit from rooting. And if you want to upgrade your user experience try out some of the other Sense based roms that will let you keep Sense and Beats and give you more stability and options

Yeah i flashed Cyanogen on my friends HD2, and used it for a day...nothing like Sense.
I have a non-working WiFi, Bluetooth and Hotspot currently because of the official ICS update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785364
I'll wait till a fix and then try sense based ROM's. I prefer a stable ROM since i'm gonna use the phone everyday. And suggestions if you have a good Sense based ROM in mind ?
Thanx :highfive:

Eventually ...who want beats audio on senseless rom try this. You need to be rooted and flash from recovery.

You can always try sense 4 ROMs. In my opinion the UI is even better than sense 3.6 and you lose none of the great intuitive widgets or beats audio that HTC provide. Viper is quite popular when it comes to sense 4. Link to the thread is in my sig.

Yeah, Sense 4 is better, love the dialer especially Anyways, can i have the pure sense 4 look from the Viper ROM ?
I know and have read a lot that it is one of the best and stable ROM for sensations but i dont really like the blue-blue tinge to everything and the altered lock-screen. But, i know this only from the 3-5 screenshots i have seen of it....i am relying on you all to explain it to me (or you could post the thread which has more screenshots than the official thread)
Meanwhile i will YouTube it Thank for the help
Btw, your work on operator logo's is just amazing just checked it out. Could i use it on another ROM though or only Viper ?

Thank you for your compliment! always nice to hear my work is appreciated. But unfortunately, its only for the viperS (sensation) or viperX (one x) ROMs.
As for pure sense 4, viper has it. The screenshot you prob saw was the AOSP lockscreen you can switch to in the tweaks. It's the standard lockring from 3.6 otherwise. As for the blue tinge, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. There's no blue tinge to anything I've seen while using the ROM. Just flash it to try it out. You won't be disappointed!!!
I think you have seen the blue then from jerrytans all in one theme, just flashing viper s alone gives you a really stock sense 4 feel by default

What do you people think?

These are the Roms I've tried so far:
CleanROM 5 - seems very sluggish
CleanROM 4.5 - it's ok
Venom 1.2.4 - not bad
AOKP ICS - good but no sense camera
AOKP jb build 3 - same as ICS one
Cm10 nightlies - good but was unable to
update from inside rom

Viper is pretty good. I use it senseless with apex launcher cuz I'm not a huge sense fan..
Very customizable. Though I'm really excited to see what happens when android 4.1 is released for our phone. My friend has a nexus and 4.1 looks sweet.

What customizations would you keep or take off during install to get Viper senseless? I'm not sure what I should keep and what I should take out.

I used to hate Sense cos of the lag on my Desire but Sense 4.1 is soooo fast on this ROM!

+1 ViperXL
I picked up the Nova Prime when it was $0.25, been running the free version before that. The sense Widgets are over rated IMO, and its absurd I can only use them on the sense launcher. I would use sense launcher if I could set the row and column number, 4x4 on a 4.7" screen is rediculously wasteful. I use 5x7 (5x8 with dock) and don't feel cramped on Nova.
The camera is important to me, and the battery life. And notification toggles (like TouchWiz, CM, and AOKP) too. For those reasons I stay or come back to ViperXL. Its stable, fast, and full of customization.

Jb with sense

Hi there
Isnt it possible to rib the sens 4+ from an one x 4.1 leaked Rom? Id love to get Sense launcher on jb for example cm10.

Don't think its that easy. I was under the impression the framework from sense based roms wouldn't work with non-sense roms like cyanogen and such. Things may have changed though.
And isn't there some scaling issues with one x being a larger screen size and all....I'm curious as well

Yes it possible! However, I don't think anyone is working on it since the update for our phone is supposed to be out before the month is over. Don't make a bunch of sense to hack something together only for the official release to come out 2-3 weeks later.

It's not possible. Well it is possible but it would be unusable. The framework needs to be resized from XHDPI to qHD and that isn't even possible because of the m10 images that we aren't able to replace. If you didn't replace it, you won't be able to use any of the phone because everything would be too large.
